were the other sources you talk about made possible over night. you just exposed GEJ inability to utilize the excess revenue realized where oil price was above $120. this administration stands to create such alternative, we are going to be hit for some moment especially those of us that depend on foreign goods to a large extent.
Nigerians spend excessively on goods they don't even utilize 5% of its use eg mobile phones, I ve watched some undergraduates and even graduates holding android phone with data in it and still asking questions like what is the meaning of quagmire, who is the governor of kano state etc, and I ask myself what is the essence of what he/is holding. students have iphones and ipad and still pay to get materials for assignments, print out the material, get home and write out the relevant aspects of the materials that answer the assignment. that is called duplication of effort and waste of resources. as a student, you have android phone in this present day of mobile banking and u still have to queue 4 hours at ATM point just to withraw 2000 to be paid to your room mate whom u earlier borrowed from, when this room mate of yours has as an account that you can easily sit at home and transfer money to.
all these goes to say we spend more than we should. it is time we spend less in those imported goods, use things for their need not just for fashion. time to look inwards is now

I am not disputing the fact that the girl is a minor but it is one thing to say that a girl is responding to a gesture out of ignorance and another thing to say a girl has been kidnapped and forced into marriage.
the case of kidnap and that of taking advantage of someone's ignorance are two different ball game. if the parent file a case of kidnap, there is tendency that they will loose if the girl's account or investigation shows that they were already in a sort of love relationship before the purported kidnap.
similar case happened in one of our neighbouring countries about a month or two ago, three boys were accused of kidnap and turned a girl to sex slave but the girl came out to say that she was not kidnapped that one of the boys was her boyfriend and that she only slept with one of her boyfriend's friend because she had feelings for him of which her boyfriend was not aware of and that she has no sexual relationship with the third person.
in Nigeria here, about two months ago, something similar to this happened where a guy was accused of using a girls nude pix to extort money from her after he forcefully raped her but thank God the guy had some evidence that later review that the lady personally sent those nude pix to the guy and there was no issue of rape or extortion of money, what actually happened was different entirely from the case filed against they guy.
finally, this issue involved a girl from bayelsa, in buyelsa, most girl of her age just like in the north and some part of the west are already mothers, this is not a welcome development though but the fact remains that it happens every now and then over there.
besides, how is it even possible that ones child is kidnapped, he eventually locate the place and had visited the place severally and the kidnapper had refused to release the hostage even when law enforcement agent had been briefed about the kidnap?
pls lets know how we swallow all these stories without applying common sense.
if our security men and leaders swallow things like this, that means we are doomed and if we swallow them, that means our future is doomed if actually the youths are the leaders of tomorrow.
so we have to be careful the way we swallow some of this accusations.

Get informed please. The government actually does not have the power to arbitrarily sack and appoint VC's. The university governing councils are supposed to do that. I believe the case is heading to the court and ultimately to the supreme court. This is what I got from Dr Femi Aribisala's article on the budget of fraud.
So I believe the students' protest is in order.
