A bike man was yesterday, along Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Lagos, crushed by the hip and skull as he tried to dodge the gantry of a signage being erected. The man and his passenger whom he waws taking to church were rushed to the General Hospital Ikeja, where the rider died, as his hip, leg and skull were already fractured. The advertising agency, ALT MEDIA OUTDOOR AGENCY were installing a signage, without traffic control. The gantry (signage stand) is believed to have slipped off the hook belt whoch was attached to a crane, and fell on the oncoming bike man. The bike man later died. He is said to have two wives and four children who reside in Sokoto. Meanwhile, It is believed that ALT MEDIA is owned by Makanjuola Alabi, the MD of the Lagos state signage agency. While some raise the issue of clashing interest, others wonder if they will ever be prosecuted, as both the ad agency and the signage agency are run by one and thesame person. This also raises the question of care and value for human life which is not taken into consideration. |
Hi People, A bike man was yesterday crushed by the gantry of a signage which was being erected by Alt Media Outdoor Advertising Agency. The man later died but his passenger was saved. There was no traffic control on that road (Kudirat Abiola rd., Oregun). Now, I hear the owner of Altmedia is the Makanjuola Alabi, who is also the MD of LASAA, the Lagos State Signage and Advertising Agency. DOes anybody know if this is true? If it is, isn't there clash of interest here? Now who holds the company accountable. The bike man had two wives and four children who are in Sokoto. |

Hi, i was doing a research on water focus: lagos water corporation and i saw ur post on nairaland. can we chat sometime? |
Hi guyz. Gud concerns. Now, a part of the lagoon, right of the third mainland bridge is being reclaimed. What do you think is the effect on the enviironment, esp. as it relates to flooding? |
Guyz, There is a portion of the lagoon, right of the third mainland bridge being reclaimed rite now (Lagos). I am doing a story on it, as it relates to flodding. This is because of the steady floods after teh rains in lekki. Is this one another disaster waiting to happen? or is it well planned? Ideas, anyone? Thanks |
Hi Midas02 & Toxnaija. I have read your posts with great interest. I am working with a friend on environmental issues. Sth caught my interest of recent. To the right of Third aminland bridge, there is reclamatio work currently going on. We want to look at the environmental implication; specifically reclamation and drainage. Lekki was reclaimed and now, when it ains, it is often flodded. Do you have any background knowledge or input? I will start a new thread. Pls make your comments there. |
Pls, I am working on a story on skin remedies as of old. If u have any info, pls snd. Eg, I learnt shea butter is really gu. called ori by the yorubas and urhobos, used 2 prevent stretch marks and stuff. also used 2 prevent rash, and other skin defeciencies. Now, I have heard of others such as Nzu- among the igbos- but i need to learn more. I learnt of henna or lali, among the hausas. Besides skin designs, Lali is also used for the hair. Pls let me know uses, origin, properties and places they can be found today. Also, modern cosmetic products that have them. Eg, Neutrogena's Visibly clear line is constituted mainy of kaolin. I was told that is nzu. It works well. Any useful links, pls post. Thanks guyz. |

Some of u guys are so pathetic (no apologies). Now, if ur neighbour beats up his wife, and your father is older than him, does it give tour father theright to go and enforce his ideais in your neighbour's house? Soludo does not rule Nigeria. He is only doing what he thinks is best for the finance sector. Did someone talk about the quality of our naira? WHy didnt the person praise soluso when the 20nira notes were released? are those not quality notes? and for those of you who have turned ksa's personal judgement to the law, my advise is, GET A LIFE. For christ sake, doesnt the cliche, THE ONLY CONSTANT THING IS CHANGE, make any sense to you? Like some one said, that we used to have human rituals as part of our culture does not mean we should use ksa's sons as the king's horseman. U guyz, nigeria is ours to build, lets accept change and work with it. Be the change and lets smile tomorrow. ciao |
U guyz, its not that maths nd english stuff u were in4md about o. For some, maths came first. for others, it came second. In my own test there were quite a number of questions drawn from rates; km/h, probability, stat but more of rates. There were qs on logic, world affairs, nigerian affairs and synonyms. gud luck evri1. 25 qs in 30mins. I hear the pass mark to the nxt stage is 15 so work hard and fast and accurately. |

Its quite funny, the way some of us jump to conclusions. A girl, one girl, acts like a wierdo and its news. A female senator slaps a male senator and it is uncivil. But when its a hot fight between two men, some pple will claim they are being 'macho'. some of u are saying, 'don't mind them, that's how they behave'. IS that how ur mom behaves, is that how ur sister(s) behaves. Now u will be quick to claim u have female folks who are angels. Listen Y'all. Learn to look at a lady first as human, then as a woman. That way, it makes you understand that some pple are just immature or seeking attention, like i think its the case in the story. There are a thousand and one girls who will not do that (as I am one) so dont jump into conclusions. It is called hasty generalisation. And you have a bad picture of women. Now, I know social construct has a role here as we cannot live apart from societal dictates but there is an extent to which we all contribute to our neighbours' reaction. Or what else do you really think Women liberation is really about? for me, it is a 'fight back' against ills and evils. And just like Shakespeare's character, Othello. U all can make the burden of women better. asking how? Now, try recount on this thread, an act, by one woman, just one, each one of your. Recount an act that has changed your life. That way, you'll see, what angels God has placed around you. Ciao |
Ewo o Kelechi. that was love o. Me, hmm. What unusual thing have I done for love? In 2005, I started dating this guy, his lost his father and the burial date was fixed. Coincidentally, it fell in same period I was passing out of the NYSC orientation camp. Hmm. I was posted to Far far Jigawa and he was in Delta. He insisted I had to come down for the burial. I agreed. Without receiving my acceptance into the firm I was posted to, I was off to Delta to meet with my new found love. I spent three days with him (all weekend); left on thursday night and by sunday evening I was racing back to Kano to meet up with the officials for acceptance on monday morning. Then I got to Onitsha and the buses for Kano had left. I called a cousin who lives in Asaba and when she got to know how I had gone such distance in my a weekend, with my weak frame (I am slim) in sickness, She said "I hope you know this does not prove that you love him most?" I nodded my head to the rhetoric. I was sick for about two weeks and left my size 12 statistics to size 10. A scare crow sure looked better. And she was right. He never thought I was good enough and in 2006, the relationship was over. I couldn't believe. But I did it for love and I will do it again only this time, for the right person; one who knows the place of sacrifice in love |
dressing is a form of identity. its not just meant to cover our nudity. That being the case, when i dress, i should be placed somewhere. objectivity says if u need to be smart then be smartly dressed but if u need to be identified, be urself. I have a foreign name, ENA but i stopped answring it cos i rili did not have any need for it, anymore. My native name is beautiful and no less inferior to their names. same goes for our outfit. as far the ferson putting it on is not complainig, if the person is comfortable, then there's nothing to it. Take another instance, I think the hausa man will always find his grtst comfort on his mat. As they sit, with their legs folded; they yoruba who porstrates 20 times a day, the urhobo woman who tied her wrapped twenty five times a day. we all will always do this cos its our identity. it is what makes us beatiful so, keep wearing, keep moving cos we are beautiful people |

It doesn't seem like fraudulence is a part of it. A better idea, Y not start your fraudland and u'll see, the fraudstars will come calling |
Thsnks for the post but what if I send my story and get no reply from you. What is the assurance that u r 4 real. I mean, there will be no authenticity to my claim when after sending my story, I turn on my tv set some day and see it on Africa magic. What then do I do. Just watch and Mourn? Ther's got to be some from of authenticity to this. Well, that aside, I work with a studio, here in asaba. I work as a production manager and as an actress. I would like to also know when u have auditions and if your auditions so I can prove my worth. I have a degree in English and literary studies. I think that's enof info 4 now. |
