DisLifeSha:I do not think everyone should leave. Personally, it took me awhile to make up my mind about relocating. That said, let's not deceive ourselves about the situation of things in Nigeria. You have more peace of mind in Canada than Nigeria. Crime rate is way lower, you have access to basic amenities. There is a reason life expectancy in canada is 84 while in Nigeria it is about 55. I feel more appreciated here. You need to experience life outside Nigeria to know what it means to be a first class citizen. There is a reason Canada gets voted almost every year as one of the best countries to live in. |
I dont know why there has been so much noise about people choosing to relocate, it is personal choice, not everyone will leave Nigeria. And there are less than 90,000 Nigerians in canada, it's not like everybody is leaving. |
wiggle:I think he went as an asylum seeker based on his comment that "government will give you an apartment" Maybe his asylum was denied and he has been deported, so he is vindictive. Because nothing else can explain the madness of what he wrote |
Why are people so particular about crossover service sef. It's just a tradition, and like tradition people can choose to modify. None of the apostles or Jesus celebrated crossover. The idea that you are more spiritual because you are in church by 12am just shows how spiritually immature and culturally fixated you are, basing your faith on time in church. If you pray for 2021 in November, God will answer your prayers as well as if you pray for 2021 December 31. |
kodded:Daystar has never done overnight watch night service before. It has always been 6-9pm. |
After seeing this topic, I went on YouTube to watch a documentary about chinese loan to Africa. One thing I do not understand is why everybody is blaming China. They give you a loan at a good rate and with a good time interval, I blame African countries for not honouring the terms of the loan. I would prefer not to get a loan from China, but there seems to be a reason every low income country is now shifting to China for loan. However, if you must get a loan, then pay it off asap. |
I know someone that experienced number 4. She entered a train leaving her daughter behind (she thought she entered with her). She almost lost the daughter to child services. When living abroad you will understand that your children aren't yours. The government can take them at any time if you are negligent and once they turn 18, they move out to live on their own. As per the other points, I agree with everything, but the black issue isnt as much issue in Canada as it is in the US, I think most other western countries have better race integration than US. And for church issue, I attend a predominantly white church. Some prefer Nigerian churches to feel at home, but lots of stories of drama. White churches can be boring, but they are sound, very supportive and no drama. |
I think the OP of the original post created the thread for attention. Noone that knows anything about Canada will say healthcare is expensive. That's a major selling point for Canada. No matter the condition- cancer, knee replacement surgery- it is free, already paid for from your taxes. Power in Ontario is 25cents pkw peak and 10cents pkw off peak period, which is comparable to Nigeria. The only point I agree with is weather and loneliness. It is natural to be lonely in a country you migrate to where you know noone. Anyone will be lonely if you grew up in Lagos and move to Abuja without any family or friends in Abuja. |
benji93:It is an internet plan, if you pay for 1000mbps, you get average of 800 throughout the month. And I did not say its mobile, sorry if I wasnt clear. It is home internet. Mobile is way lower, mine is like 3mbps. |

You can also go online to check, Roger's has highest of 1000mbps, Bell has highest of 150mbps. I worked briefly with Bell, so I know @benji93 |
benji93:
|
edoairways:The 45CAD is promo price, actual price is 60. You enjoy the promo for 12 months. |
benji93:Categorically, yes. Rogers has speed of 1000mbps, not an exaggeration. |
I doubt the OP has been to Canada before. Health is absolutely free, noone pays anything for healthcare except for drugs which are affordable because there is a body that regulates drugs prices. Power in canada is way cheaper than Nigeria. You claimed you paid 80 CAD, that is 23,600. For 247 light. The max i have paid is 90 CAD. Despite central AC that gets to even the bathroom, electric cooker, and we bake and cook a lot in my house. Data is cheaper than Nigeria also, I pay 45CAD for unlimited data with speed of 150mbps. I also pay 50cad for my phone but that is unlimited calls to US and all of Canada, how much do you think 8GB and unlimited calls in Nigeria will be per month. |
Like some people have said, a lot of people don't know anything about Nigeria. However, I have met like 3 persons or so that have bad opinion about Nigerians- one of them has a cousin that her boyfriend (a Nigerian) used her account for fraud, another was a victim of online scam. The third attended college with some Nigerians and in her opinion, we are very competitive and loud. But overall, most don't even know where Nigeria is. But I think it may not be so in US and UK. Nigeria seems to be more popular in those two countries. |
iamJ:Unfortunately facts don't matter when it comes to political arguments. That is why I rarely engage in them. For most people, their opinion about political issues is more emotional than factual, that is why a Christian will think Trump is God sent a Biden, a practising christian all his life is the antichrist. Their pastor told them Biden is evil, so he is evil. No amount of facts can change that. |
1. Trump cannot change a law by EO. 2. Eliminating section 230 does not lead to more freedom of speech, but less. If a media can be sued for what it's on its platform, it will censor its platform more, not less. For example, if I post misleading information on twitter, twitter cannot be sued for misleading the public under section 230. But if section 230 is removed, twitter can be sued. That will lead to more censorship, not less. 3. Trump is angry because of negative trends about him like 'diaperdon.' This is autocratic and a slippery slope. 4. Repealing section 230 will be bad for facebook and Parler which are more conservative friendly. These sites allow lots of fake news like anti vaxers which they can now be sued for. Liberals have always wanted to sue facebook. This just made it easier for them, and facebook will also have to censor conservatives more. |
mesmer:I dont understand how people think sometimes. They love Trump for exactly the same thing they hate Buhari for. |
themonk:At this point na just to dey look people display their stupidity. Thank God for social media, otherwise we wont know how many ignoramus libe among us. They are congratulating an anti science president for work done by a private company. Trump thinks vaccines cause autism, masks dont work, exercise reduce your lifespan, no global warming. Either they dont know who they support and only supports him because the church supports him, or they know and are just equally ignorant. |
greenskittles:Perfectly said. Christians hate sharia, but want their own version of sharia. Ideologically, evangelicals are very similar to ISIS, just different religion and extent of barbarity |
kingxsamz:This election has opened my eyes to what some Christians are: Ignorant, partisan and some are hateful. How anyone can believe Trump is a Christian and Biden, a catholic isnt beats me. Trump has 26 rape allegations against him, with one currently in court, slept with a porn star 3 months after Melania gave birth to their son, started a fake university that had to be closed, his family charity foundation for cancer patients was closed down because it was a scam, and his children are banned from ever running a charity, he is hated in New York for cheating contractors, banks in US stopped loaning him money because of his antics, he gets his funding from German and Russian banks. He lies constantly, proud, hateful, his tweeter page is full of hate, he is very divisive, refusing to help blue states during the outbreak (same thing people hate Buhari for, wrt 5 percenters). Yet because of gay rights and abortion, the church is burning down its reputation to support the clown. That is why christianity in US is on the decline. Evangelicals should be about evangelism-spreading gospel of God, a gospel of love. But since they became political christianity in the US has been declining at an alarming rate. |
chiedonedoor:Sorry, this affect Christian's too. I know someone personally, a pastor in a church in US who was divorced by his wife, lost the house to her and was sacked by the church because a pastor can't be a divorcee. Took him awhile to get back on his feet |
Jullima:I concur with your second point. Men are richer, so they are most affected. The law is generally in favour of the poorer partner and also men often prefer to marry someone they are richer than, that is another discussion. But I do not agree with the notion that because they spent 14 years together, she is entitled to such benefits. From the story: 1- they were never married and never officially lived together, 2- she refused to sign the agreement, 3- she gained a lot from the relationship she is more than enough compensation. And lastly, if this is allowed to stay, there will be lots of court cases of people suing their ex after dating for 3 years. |
Jullima:To your first point, I agree that some guys also benefit from the law, however, it is mostly women that is why it seems to favour women. And your second point, there is no mention of her raising the guy's children, as he is most likely paying child support to his ex, she benefited a lot from the relationship, the guy paid off her mortgage, so the idea of use and dump doesn't apply here. Relationship ends, it's not always because one party wants to use and dump the other. |
mercy87:"Technically it's not. Abuja is Central area, Garki, Maitama, Wuse and Asokork. Others are FCT. Anything outside AMAC is FCT, not Abuja. Abuja is in FCT" This is my initial post. No single mention of Karu in the post |
bukatyne:I hope the guy takes it to the highest court, and hopefully it is reversed. This is like opening a pandora box. It means once you date a lady for 3 years she can sue for spousal benefits. That is ridiculous. |
Iceyjayzz:Very annoying. Paying someone you were never married to and never lived with such an amount monthly is complete bs |
MrBrownJay1:I agree with your points. I think the reason we dont often read about women paying spousal benefits is because men often don't marry women richer than they are. For instance, Adele's ex is suing for almost half of her fortune. But this is rare, so it feels like men are affected more. |
Some things I have come to realise about the west 1. The laws favour women in or out of marriage 2. You cannot circumvent spousal responsibilities by not marrying. Cohabitation is considered as being married in Canada I support paying alimony and supporting a spouse after a divorce especially when kids are involved, but ruling like this ends up doing more harm than good in the long run |
