what part of what story with the confession of Bafarawa, Anenih, Dokpesi, Falae, etc. When you become president you can release a saboteur like Dasuki who shared critical defence to politicians and whose only reason was that he was instructed to do so by the then president - GEJ.

SARAKI 2018
PoliticsAt The End Of A Tortuous Journey Of 1018 Days, Victory At Last; Saraki by engineerboat(op): 11:37pm On Jul 06, 2018
At the end of a tortuous journey of 1018 Days counting from September 22, 2015 when the case began at the Tribunal, I am happy that I have been vindicated

The Supreme Court has affirmed that there is no evidence of false declaration of assets. The court also observed that certain agents took over the responsibility of the Code of Conduct Bureau in this trial, and one can infer that this was done towards a pre-determined end.

This outcome has gladdened my heart and further strengthened my belief in this country and as well as my faith in Almighty Allah, who is the righter of all wrongs. God has vindicated me today before the judgement of man, and I am most thankful and humbled at His grace and infinite mercies.

Through it all, I refused to be shaken, knowing, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, that the arch of the moral universe may be long, but it bends towards justice. I knew the day would come when justice would prevail and I would be exonerated.

I have always believed in the infallibility of our Judiciary, secure in the knowledge that our courts – the last refuge of the oppressed - would never condemn the innocent. This outcome is also a vindication of my belief in the rule of law.

As I said in my first appearance at the CCT, this is a politically motivated case. The case was trumped up in the first instance because of my emergence as the President of the Senate against the wishes of certain forces. Ordinarily, I doubt anyone would be interested in the asset declaration form I filled over 15 years ago.

What we have seen is the opposite. Instead of working together in the interest of the nation and to seek to do better for our people, we are fighting one another and using legal instruments to mount baseless accusations against one another. Instead of exhibiting the need for unity and working day and night for that purpose, we are stoking the fire of division and rancour. I maintain that, above all else, my CCT trial has been a flagrant vilification of my person, and shows that some people are after their personal interests rather than the national interest.

As a result of the war of attrition, various arms of government have wasted resources needlessly. It has been three wasted years across board in this country. Three years that would have been devoted to tackling issues affecting Nigerians, including: economic recovery, insecurity, youth unemployment and strengthening national institutions – were wasted on malicious prosecution. People were ready to trade off three years that would have been devoted to fostering cooperation, unity and economic progress for their selfish ends. It is my hope that those who are behind my persecution will see the handwriting on the wall and leave me to do the work for which I was elected, so I can continue to give my all to this great country of ours.

As many have rightly observed, it is plain to see that the anti-corruption fight is being prosecuted with vindictiveness, to target perceived political opponents. I believe in the need to fight corruption, but I will never be party to the selective application of the law or the rhetoric of an insincere anti-corruption fight.

I believe in fighting corruption and I have made my own humble contributions to the fight against corruption in this country. As a presidential aide, I initiated the process that led to the enactment of the Fiscal Responsibility Act. I was the first governor to establish the Price Intelligence Unit which later metamorphosed into the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) at the federal level. In the history of this country, the highest fraud, the most brazen corruption has been the Fuel Subsidy scam. No one wanted to talk about it or confront entrenched powers. As a Senator on the platform of the ruling party at that time, I sponsored a motion on the floor of the Senate calling for investigation that led to the unprecedented exposure of the massive corruption in the fuel subsidy regime. That was my only point of departure with the former President. My antecedents speak for themselves.

I thank Nigerians for standing by me through the difficult period of this trial. The support of ordinary Nigerians and their faith in me, as well as their sophistication and discernment in seeing this case for what it was, has been a source of strength to me.

I am most grateful for the support of my Distinguished Colleagues and the Honourable Members of the 8th National Assembly for their unflinching support and regular attendance at the various proceedings. They were unfairly criticised for accompanying me on court appearances, but it is now clear that they did so because they believed that injustice to one, is injustice to all. They have been the true embodiment of esprit de corps. I thank them for banding together in the face of an unconscionable attack on the institution of the legislature.

I thank my legal team for their determined and principled stance, and for their knowledge and diligence, which saw this case to its just conclusion. My gratitude to all my friends, political associates, supporters and the good people of Kwara State – all of whom have been solidly behind me.

I thank my family for enduring this trial with their usual grace and fortitude. My immense gratitude also goes to the international community for their interest in this case. The Nigerian press have kept watch and I appreciate their vigilance in ensuring that all the facts were held up to scrutiny.

To my supporters, yes, there is a reason to rejoice, but our celebration must be tempered with the sobering lessons of the attempted injustice from Day One of this trial. We all have to canvas for fairness in the fight against corruption. We should see this verdict as an inspiration to champion the rule of law, promote democracy and its institutions as well as tolerance of divergent views.

The overwhelming support of so many, and the insistence on ensuring that due process and truth prevailed, has made this verdict possible.

Ekiti360:
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on Friday accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of resorting to panicky measures in their bid to win the governorship election on July 14.

Oshiomhole, who spoke during his maiden news briefing at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, also claimed Fayose has ordered civil servants, teachers and other categories of workers in the state to surrender their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

He also alleged that the Governor has directed lecturers in institutions of higher learning in the state, to award free 20 marks to students who vote for his candidate.

Oshiomhole said: “I believe that the people of Ekiti State are very much aware of what the issues are. There is no better evidence of how prepared we are than the fact that the PDP is panicking.

“You must have read reports that in clear violation of the electoral act, the Governor Fayose has instructed the civil servants, principals of schools and headmasters to retrieve PVCs from civil servants because he is afraid that the civil servants and the people of Ekiti State will not vote for him and in demonstration of that, they are helping to educate the people on why they should not vote for his candidate.

“He has not paid salaries for one year despite the fact that the federal government gave him bailout which he chose to divert to other uses. So, they are panicking and while we are encouraging people to collect PVC, he is retrieving PVCs.

“We heard that they have started issuing query to workers, including teachers for refusing to surrender their PVCs. I don’t think you need any other evidence that the governor is panicking and we can’t wait to have him swept away in a free and fair election on the basis of one man, one vote, one woman, one vote.

“We all know that Fayose was rigged into office and this is no secret because the military officers involved has since confessed to the role they played as well as those involved in the dollars that were withdrawn from the NNPC. These are no secrets anymore.

“I think that Fayose thinks that the very instrument he used to come to power will be used against him. This is a party of change and so, we are not about to copy the darkest side of the PDP.”

BREAKING NEWS: SARAKI WINS AGAINST FG AS SUPREME COURT CLEARS HIM OF FALSE ASSET DECLARATION CHARGES

The Supreme Court on Friday cleared Senate President Bukola Saraki of all allegations of false asset declaration.

The Nigerian government filed 18 counts of false and anticipatory asset declaration charges against Mr Saraki in 2015.

All the counts collapsed at the Code of Conduct Tribunal in 2017, and the government again appealed the ruling.

The Court of Appeal upheld all but three of the charges, returning them to the Tribunal for retrial.

Mr Saraki’s legal team contested the verdict of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal at the Supreme Court, arguing that Mr Saraki had no case to answer.

The Supreme Court in its verdict Friday said the Court of Appeal panel engaged in “forensic somersault” when it held that Mr Saraki should answer three of the charges.

Frank to sponsored protesters: Saraki, Dogara not your problem
......Says looters under Buhari responsible*_
--------------------------------------------
The immediate past Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has said that instead of some persons protesting against the leadership of the National Assembly who are just lawmakers, it should have been against current killings, poverty and high unemployment in the country.
.
He also challenged the protesters to take another protest to the presidential villa to demand a stop to the menace under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari led government.
.
In a statement signed on Wednesday, Comrade Frank, who alleged that “some looters serving in the current administration of APC sponsored the protesters against the leadership of the National Assembly,” added that both the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara are not the problems the country is currently going through “but the president has failed to implement the budget to the later.”
According to the former APC spokesman, the only offence both Saraki and Dogara has committed is failure to impeach President Buhari over numerous impeachable offences and breach of constitution by his government.
.
He said a video in circulation has exposed the ignorance of some of the protesters who blocked the National Assembly’s main entrance on Tuesday as it shown in the said video that many of the protesters were mobilised with N1,500 only to protest against the alleged increase and introduction of new projects into the 2018 budget.
.
“Unknown to many of these sponsored protesters, it is the constitutional responsibility of National Assembly to add or remove from whatever the executive budgeted because it is an arm of government which is never a rubber stamp institution in any mature democratic society.
.
“Let those who are sponsoring these hungry protesters know clearly that they are real enemies of democracy and that the act is worse than terrorism.
.
While urging Nigerian youth not to allow themselves to be used against the institution of National Assembly, Frank said Nigerian lawmakers under the leadership of Sen. Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara have been able to passed bills; like NotTooYoungToTun bill, which he said has direct positive impact on the young men and women to actively participate in governance at all levels.
.
“The way this government is sponsoring blackmailers against the leadership of National Assembly has clearly shown that the talk of fight against corruption is an illusion. Nigerians will need to know where the appointees of this administration got the money to sponsor over five thousands protesters against a lawful institution if not part of the looted money under President Muhammadu Buhari?,” he queried.
