The wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, said on Monday that her husband’s ill health caused instability in Nigeria. She expressed the view at the stakeholders meeting on Reproductive, Maternal, New Born, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH and N) in Abuja. The event was also used to inaugurate the Governors Wives Advocacy Group (GWAG) on reproductive health in the country. President Muhammadu Buhari was in London for treatment of an undisclosed illness and spent over 100 days there. He returned to Nigeria on August 19 and has since resumed his full duties which he delegated to the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, while he was away. “As you are aware for the past six months Nigeria was not stable because of my husband’s ill health,” Mrs. Buhari said. “We thank God that he has fully recovered now. Mrs. Buhari also lamented the actions of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, saying he tried to create “a state out of a state.” Although Mrs. Buhari did not mention Mr. Kanu by name, the reference was unmistakable. “A 40-year-old man who is still living in his father’s house created a state out of a state and that is a major setback to the country,” she said suggesting Mr. Buhari’s medical vacation worsened the Nnamdi Kanu situation. “I hope that such a thing will not be repeated,” she added. Mr. Kanu’s organisation, IPOB, is calling for an independent country of Biafra made up of Igbos. The group has since been outlawed and declared a terrorist organisation by the federal government, while Mr. Kanu’s whereabouts remain unknown since his group clashed with security agencies. Mrs Buhari also carpeted the health care delivery system in the country and reserved special criticism for the State House Clinic, which she said lacks basic equipment for medicare. She called for a probe of the budget utilisation at the clinic. “I would like to be realistic to say a few words concerning health delivery system in Nigeria. It is very poor, sorry to say that. “I am happy that the MD of Aso Clinic is here. Dr Manir, I am happy that you are here. “If somebody like Mr President can spend several months outside Nigeria, you wonder what will happen to a common man on the street in Nigeria. “Few weeks ago I was sick as well; they advised me to take a first flight to London; I refused to go. “I said I must be treated in Nigeria because there is a budget for an assigned clinic to take care of us. “If the budget was N100 million, we need to know the way the budget is spent. “And along the line I insisted; they called Aso clinic to find out if their X-ray machine was working, they said it was not working; they didn’t know that I was the person that was to be at that hospital at that very time. “I had to go to a hospital that was established by foreigners in and out 100 per cent. “What does that mean?’’ “I think it is high time for us to do the right thing.’’ Mrs. Buhari noted that if something like that happened to her, there was no need to ask the governors wives what the situation was in their states. She said Abuja was the highest seat of government and the incident was about the Presidential Villa. Mrs. Buhari acknowledged that Nigeria had very good health policies, the best in Africa. “Yes of course we have (policies) but implementation is always the problem. “So we need to change our mindset and do the right thing.’’ She said that a lot of constructions were on-going at Aso Clinic when the hospital lacked basic medical equipment and tools. “There are lots of constructions going on in that hospital but there is no single syringe there; what does that mean? Who will use the building? “So we have to be good in reasoning; you are building and there is no equipment, no consumables in that hospital and the constructions are still going on. The management of the Aso Rock Clinic had last week lamented that they were not properly funded and called for the commercialisation of the clinic. Mrs. Buhari appreciated the wives of the governors and other stakeholders for attending the event as an attestation of the importance they attached to the issue of maternal and child health. She said it was sad to know that Nigeria was one of the countries with the worst health records for children and women in spite of the efforts of the past, adding that more needed to be done. She explained that it informed her Future Assured Initiative two years ago to champion the well-being of women and children. She acknowledged the support of all stake holders for their continued support. “We are here today to build our alliances that will help strengthen our advocacy for reproductive, maternal, new born, child, adolescent health and nutrition at the state level. “By creating a strong coalition, we will increase awareness on the importance of improving RMNCAH and Nutrition, promote advocacy for better service delivery and increase the utilization of RMNCAH and Nutrition services,’’ she noted She expressed optimism that the Governors Wives Coalition established at the event would provide a platform for them to lend a strong voice for improving the health status of women and children in the country. Mrs. Buhari urged the governors’ wives to champion the cause of advocacy to support the RMNCAH and N programmes in their various states. She advised them to dedicate a section of the governors’ wives forum meeting agenda to update themselves on the progress of the advocacy in their various states. Accordingly, Mrs. Buhari donated a floor of the three-storey building of the Future Assured Centre in Wuse Abuja to the Women for the purpose of the advocacy. She called on development partners to support the coalition to achieve better health outcomes for Nigeria. She pledged to commit all platforms available to her as wife of the president and as champion of RMNCHA and N to continue to provide maximum support to the cause and urged the governors’ wives to do same. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/245561-husbands-ill-health-caused-instability-nigeria-aisha-buhari.html

More from chaba mark in his apology
|
As Copied-Letter Of Apology From Chaba Mark. MY APOLOGY TO GOODLUCK JONATHAN. Is there anyone close enough to former president Goodluck Jonathan who may be reading this post? Please tell him that one unknown quantity is seeking for his forgiveness. I am asking for his forgiveness for the reasons I've carefully itemized below. 1. On Chibok Girls: I was among those that lampooned him for being too slow to track down the abductors of the school children. I have to apologize to him because only recently, a serving minister threatened to implicate a governor on his role in the abduction saga. I told myself wait a minute, did I hear what I just heard? And I cast my mind back to when people said that the abduction was a stage managed plot to ease him out of power. I joined others then in calling such individuals, "conspiracy theorists" and "evil people". The story is getting clearer Dear Jonathan, in my haste or ignorance then, I couldn't ask myself these simple questions: * how about 270 human beings could be loaded into trucks and just vanish from a city center. *how none of the school authority could place a single phone call to the head office of any security outfit to confirm who authorized the evacuation as they said the abductors claim. * why the principal who ought to be sacked and prosecuted for gross negligence, was elevated to the position of a commissioner shortly after. Whether it wasn't a reward for a job well executed? Dear Jonathan, even now, * the army has overrun Sambisa forest where the girls were said to be kept and still no trace of them is found. * surprisingly, they are being released from "somewhere" in batches! Thank God that there are no traces of forest marks on their sleek skins. We eagerly await batch two. Hopefully, APC will secure the release of the last batch before 2019 as one major achievement for it to be voted again into power. 2. On Corruption: Dear Jonathan, I join others to insult your government because I thought then that the people in your government were thieves. Little did I know that compared to what we see today, they were mere pickpockets. Under the watch of our current anti corruption Messiah, * government officials use hundreds of millions of naira of IDP funds to cut grasses in the sandy sahel region. * billions of naira and millions of dollars, raw cash, are dug out of a house in a highbrow area of Lagos. The owner of the money is unknown and the said house lacks owner and C/o. * $25 billion contracts are currently said to be wrongfully awarded by NNPC GMD to phoney companies. Dear Jonathan, Your former NSA, Dansuki has been held incommunicado for $2 billion. Your man's money is 2% of their man's. Even if Desiani's and other monies allegedly stolen by all those who served under your government are put together, they will not amount to 40% of what one man is currently alleged to have fingered. In light of the above, dear Jonathan, find it in your heart to forgive me. I allowed myself to be deceived by smooth talkers and propagandists. People who hid under a hypnotic change mantra to deceive the minds of the simple. They promised to fix electric power in six months, build new refineries, pay monthly salaries to jobless graduates, feed school pupils and stamp out corruption. Who wouldn't fall for these lofty things? But alas, since they shoved you aside, things have gotten worse in every front. Their first act was to jack fuel price up from N85 to N145. Something you tried and we gave you headache through our "occupy Nigeria" protests. We can't dare raise a single voice now. Next their ill advised economic policies caused prices of commodities to triple. They called it recession and blamed it on you. No light, no road, no food, no security from attacks of herdsmen. The only means we use to cry out, social media, they want to shut it by draconian laws. If we agitate, they unleash trained pythons and crocodiles on us. There is God. Jonathan, I am truly sorry. https://m.facebook.com/story/graphql_permalink/?graphql_id=UzpfSTEwMDAxNjQ0MjQzNjM3MzoxNzY1ODYxNTYyMzI3OTg%3D

Nigeria have become the first African side to book their place at 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ after a 1-0 win over Zambia in Uyo earned them an unassailable lead at the head of Group B. Alex Iwobi repeated his feat of being the thorn in the Zambians' side, once again finding himself on the scoresheet against the Chipolopolo. Having scored in the first Group B game between the sides, he came off the bench in the second half to end Zambian hopes of creating a final day climax on 6 November, instead seeing the Super Eagles book a spot at their sixth finals. Seen by many as the toughest group of the continent’s five qualifying tables, Nigeria have been dominant, remaining unbeaten throughout and only dropping points thanks to a Cameroonian penalty on the road in Yaounde. The 4-0 win a few days earlier against the reigning African champions was a particular highlight. With a rich youthful streak through the side, seeing the likes of Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon score crucial goals throughout qualifying, there will be something of a fresh feel to the side who have only missed one tournament – Germany 2006 – since their debut in 1994. Led by the seasoned John Obi Mikel, who made his belated World Cup debut at Brazil 2014, they will hoping to better their Round of 16 exit from three years ago – the furthest stage they have reached, having also done so in their first two appearances. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/y=2017/m=10/news=nigeria-russia-bound-as-africa-s-first-qualifiers-2911535.html

TSTV DECODER- It’s officially launched in Nigeria, Here are the important information on the 6 things to know about it. 1. The N5000 for TSTV initial purchase includes a decoder, a dish and a remote control but excludes any installation service charge. 2. TSTV Pay AS You Go pause service i.e. the ability to pause your subscription when not in use would be available to those that would go for the maximum subscription which is the monthly N3,000 package and you would only be able to pause subscription not more than 7 days, thereby allowing you 37 days at most for your monthly subscription. So don’t expect to use your 1 month subscription from January to December in the name of pausing or expect to user 1 day N200 subscription for 1 month. 3. The first time you buy the decoder is the only time you would be able to enjoy up to 20GB of data as bonus, for subsequent full monthly subscription comes with 10GB of data and not 20GB as some of you might be thinking. 4. TSTV has incorporated its subscription service payments into Quickteller the popular E-payment service in the country and just like DSTV, you would also be able to easily pay for your TSTV subscriptions through Quickteller. 5. You would be able to buy extra 1GB data or above from TSTV at the cost of N300 for 1GB 6. TSTV data allocation has nothing to do with watching of TVST channels but just a separate and additional offer to the entire TSTV concept or better still what you commonly regard as Value Added Service (VAS). http://www.dailyhints.com.ng/need-know-tstv-just-make-purchase-tstv-decoder/ |

THE Defence Headquarters, Friday, declared that it does not know the whereabouts of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu This came as it asked citizens not to panic over hitherto October 1st deadline given the Ibos by a group of Northern youths to vacate the region, saying the threat was no longer effective. The DHQ which said contrary to some reports,it did not raid the IPOB leader’s home, said it was not the place of the military to declare Kanu wanted. The DHQ equally explained that it was constrained to move a special military operations against the dreaded herdsmen because they were neither visible nor carry out their activities under an open or known group. Director of Defence Information, Major General John Enenche, who addressed the media at the Defence Headquarters, denied that Nnamdi Kanu was in military custody. ” Nnamdi Kanu is not in the custody of the military,”he declared. On whether the military would declare Kanu wanted since his whereabouts is unknown, Enenche said:”It is not the responsibility of the military to declare Nnamdi Kanu wanted.” Enenche also said contrary to reports in some quarters, the military did not proscribed IPOB, just as he said due process was followed in the group’s proscription. “The military did not proscribe IPOB. Due process was followed to proscribe it. The job of the military was to diagnose security issues and warned the public of consequences and that is part of our media operations. “We did our media operations very well, otherwise that weekend would have been the longest weekend in this country and we are also very careful choosing our words and we know the law very well, “he added. He also denied that the military troops on Operation Python Dance raided Kanu’s home. Hear him:” Nobody raided Kanu’s home and I stand to be justified, not from the information I got. I was watching it live, I was monitoring it live and also speaking with them on the ground. “The people that came out there that I saw were the Biafra security service and Biafra National Guard. ” I think I later confirmed that there was nothing to actually justify them legally to mount roadblocks. I saw the militancy, nobody told me and I saw the action there. We are still investigating.” He spoke on the post military operations in the South East thus:”For the past couple of days since the operation started, the feedback I have been getting from that place is that yes, they are happy. “Some of them were actually afraid even before the operation started not from our troops but from the people that we actually getting them fighting, people that are actually intimidating them. But now, they have a lot of relief. “We have our sources of information as information outfits of the armed forces. We also get information from the general public using our own sources as a form of checks and balances.” Enenche said the country was not militarized contrary to the position of some people. “Other countries passed through this, if you go into history, before getting to where they are as developed countries today. “Like in China, you see one policeman inside a car, you hardly see a military man outside and it depends on the developmental process and what you passed through. “That’s why in simple terms, I will tell you that we are not alarmed at all. “For example, the last terrorist attack in the UK, 24 hours after the attack, the government asked the military to take over the area. ” If the UK government can tell the military to take over, to back up the Police, I think we are just about 100 years old of amalgamation and we about 57 years old, it’s not out of place, “he stressed. He expressed disappointment over the position of some legal practitioners on military involvement in the IPOD issue just as h said some of them got it right in his assessment of various contributions to the issue. “Of course, there will be competing demands on who is to do what by the military, the executive, the legislature they are all arms of the government and they all have responsibilities,”he said. ”The statement that came through me is not at par at all with what the Chief of Army Staff came out to clarify. People had mindset and they were In a hurry to attack the military because of their mindset and because of that it is a pity to say that somehow some people lost their reputation,”he clarified. He said the various operations and exercises under the Defence Headquarters were being sustained in the North East, North West, North Central, South West, South South and South Eastern parts of Nigeria. He also said troops of Operation RESTORE DEMOCRACY in the Gambia have been rotated. ”The contingent earned the operational medal, due to their outstanding performance. A new set has been inducted into the mission (ECOMIG). The Defence Headquarters, according to Enenche,” reaffirmed the unalloyed loyalty of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.” It also reaffirmed “total subordination of the Nigerian Military to constituted civil authorities, complete dedication of the military to its constitutional roles as well as dedication of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the protection of lives and property of all peace loving people where ever they live in Nigeria. The Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has reacted to the arrest of two of his top officials by the anti-graft agency, EFCC. PREMIUM TIMES reported the arrest of the Ekiti commissioner of finance, Toyin Ojo, and the accountant general, Yemisi Owolabi, by the EFCC on Thursday. “They were picked up today following their refusal to honour previous invitations for interrogation in relation to pending investigation on the misuse of bail out funds by the Ayodele Fayose administration,” an EFCC spokesperson said in an email to PREMIUM TIMES. In his response, the governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, blamed the arrest on aides of President Muhammadu Buhari. “It is obvious that the hawks around President Muhammadu Buhari are afraid of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s declaration to contest the presidential election in 2019,” Mr. Olayinka said. Read Mr. Olayinka’s full statement below. Ekiti State Government has described the arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of the State Commissioner for Finance, Toyin Ojo and the Accountant General, Yemisi Owolabi, as a further demonstration of the anti-corruption agency’s irresponsibility, saying; “The EFCC is obviously living up to its status as the attack-dog of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, but Ekiti State government under Governor Ayodele Fayose cannot be intimidated.” Special Assistant to the State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said in a statement issued on Thursday that “it is obvious that the hawks around President Muhammadu Buhari are afraid of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s declaration to contest the presidential election in 2019, hence the usual panicky measure of arresting government officials in Ekiti on the day of his declaration, with the view to embark on another round of media trial against the governor and his government.” The government said “it is funny that the EFCC, in the bid to carry out its usual hatchet job against Governor Fayose, failed to take into cognisance the subsisting court order, which forbids any official of the Ekiti State government from being arrested by the EFCC. Up till today, the court order has not been appealed and it subsists.” The government challenged the EFCC to tell Nigerians what has been done to the loads of petitions written against the immediate past APC government of Kayode Fayemi, asking; “What has the EFCC done to those involved in the grass-cutting scam and the $43 million Ikoyi scam?” The government said; “It is so funny and laughable that these characters in the APC government can’t even disappoint for once by being unpredictable. “Like we have said before, the game plan of those who want power in Ekiti State by force as well as those who do not want anyone to speak against President Buhari, that they see as a god, is to stifle Ekiti State government and make it impossible for the government to carry out its responsibilities. “However, the EFCC and its collaborators should know that we have threaded this path before and we, in the government of Ekiti State won’t be intimidated by the irresponsibility of a federal government anti-corruption agency that has come to see itself as instrument of harassing, oppressing, intimidating and coercing perceived opposition figures. “On this one, let us tell these agents of the devil in the EFCC and those they are working for that as usual, they have taken on a wrong customer. This is because the more they run after Governor Fayose, the more they hit their heads on the Rock of Ages and get themselves fatally injured.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/244539-fayose-reacts-arrest-top-ekiti-officials-efcc.html
