Ekiti Finance Commissioner, Accountant Arrested After Fayose Declared Presidency

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance and the Accountant General.

The anti-graft agency swoop on the state capital, Ado-Ekiti on Thursday.

The development occurred with an hour after Governor Ayo Fayose declared his intention to run for president in 2019.

Fayose said he will contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose assured that he will run a purposeful government that will cater for all Nigerians irrespective of religion or tribe.

He lamented the state of Nigeria and urged the party to support him become the country’s next leader.

He said in a speech: “Our economy will be revived and returned to the path of progress that it was before we had the misfortune of having these clueless people in power.

“We will ensure diversification of the economy through agriculture, adequate supply of power and massive industrialization, thereby creating employment for our youths. We can do it, and we will do it.

“With me as your President, you can be rest assured of a government that will be responsive to your needs.

“You are guaranteed a federal government that will relate with all Nigerians not on the basis of ethnicity, religion, political affiliations and the percentage of votes but on equity and justice as citizens of one nation, one people, and one destiny.

“My party leaders, I present myself to you as the needed vehicle for our party to move back to the presidency. I am doing so because I am confident that with God and all of you behind me, we can do it, and we will do it.”

Health"Strike Continue": JOHESU by engineerboat(op): 9:57am On Sep 28, 2017
Strike continue JOHESU

All Federal Health Institution activities grounded.

The meeting between the federal government and striking members of the Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, which held between Tuesday and Wednesday has failed to resolve the crisis.

The leaders of various unions who convened at the meeting held in Abuja to review the negotiation between the parties did not concede to the appeal made by federal government’s negotiation team led by Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, to end the strike.

Ahead of the meeting, Mr. Ngige had accused the union of not following procedure before they began their nationwide strike.

The minister who called the reconciliation meeting said the union neglected to give the government a 14-day notice required by law.

While the union said the strike will continue; it, however, urged its counterparts in the state who had billed to join the industrial action on Thursday to hold for now.

Biobelemoye Josiah, JOHESU National Chairman and Ekpebor Florence, JOHESU National Secretary in a joint statement, Thursday, conveyed the resolution of the union.

“As a result of the ongoing negotiation between JOHESU and the Federal Government, the leadership of JOHESU wishes to inform all members that negotiation is ongoing and the strike continues nationwide in all federal health institutions and further directives will be given after meeting with Federal Government on Saturday, 30th, September, 2017.

“In the light of the above, state councils are further directed to put on hold the commencement of their strike initially billed for Thursday, 28th of September, 2017 due to the ongoing talks”, the statement read.

JOHESU had on Wednesday last week insisted on going on strike over the alleged failure of the federal government to meet its demands.

The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, had pleaded with the association not to embark on strike; but it ignored the plea as the strike commenced in the early hours of Thursday.

The members of the union are hospital workers apart from medical doctors.

In compliance with the declaration of an indefinite strike by JOHESU, the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM directed its members to stay away from all federal health institutions across the country.

Meanwhile, checks have revealed that private hospitals, mission homes and traditional birth attendants in across the country are recording tremendous increase in patronage following the on-going nationwide strike by the health workers.

PoliticsAm Not Promoting IPOB – Fayose by engineerboat(op): 4:05pm On Sep 25, 2017
I’m not for division of Nigeria. But FG should engage in more of dialogue with agitating groups; use carrot & stick approach instead of guns.

In every family, there are both the good & bad people. Agitation is normal in every society, but the way to go about it is to tread cautiously.

@MBuhari should know that this is not 1984 when the President ruled as a military dictator.

Using brute force is not democratic. Running a democracy should not be by propaganda. Democracy is not autocracy.

What this government needs to do is to restructure and this matter should not be handled by the APC. It should not be a party affair.

Having said that, I am not promoting IPOB, but Buhari should lead Nigeria with equity and justice.

Let the use of brute force becomes the last option in matters of agitation. Battles can be won without the use of force.

PoliticsLife In Camp Is Miserable” Bama Resident Protest The Condition Of Living In Idps by engineerboat(op): 4:49pm On Sep 24, 2017
Life in camp is miserable” Bama resident protest the condition of living in IDPs camp.

Mammoth crowd of IDPs from BAMA currently staged a forceful return back HOME. It can be recalled that BAMA was taken hostage by the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists exactly on 1st September 2014 killing thousands of people and rendered those of us alive displaced.

In the 3 years of our displacement, life has been so miserable, our people are been followed and killed even at the so called IDP camps, while others are artificially dying of disease, poverty and hunger. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

A Bama LGA resident shared this on his social media page

On a Very Sad Note;

Fiery looking security forces led by Borno state commissioner of police Mr. Damian Chukwu mounted blocks on our way to our home base BAMA, after spending 3 years as IDPs in various camps and locations within the state capital (Maiduguri) this afternoon.

The police commissioner while addressing us at the road blocks mounted by his operatives just a little drive after university of Maiduguri along Bama road, says “Allowing you to go to BAMA is like allowing you to commit suicide”. Thereafter he ordered his men to arrest whoever that insist to continue on the said journey.

Does that mean all the claims by both the military and the government on the improved security of the area is just a mere fallacy to deceive us? For how long can we be held refugees in our land? Any hope at sight?

TV/MoviesTSTV: This New “pay As You Go” Cable TV Is About To Knock Dstv Out by engineerboat(op):
DSTV might be kicked out soon and by a local cable operator at that. The very first Nigerian owned cable operator to offer the pay per view service in Nigeria, Telcom Satellite TV (TSTV) is set to launch on the 1st of October 2017. As Nigerians celebrate Independence Day, they’ll have one more thing to celebrate.

TSTV is a Direct-To-Home (DTH) broadcast service that came to be as a result of a multi-transponder agreement between ABS and Telcom Satellites TV to deliver DTH to Nigeria on the ABS 3A satellite. The service is set to air more than 100 TV channels a first and grow to above 150 with time.

Bright Echefu, STV Managing Director and CEO said

“our vision is to provide premium video experience to nigerians at affordable prices. our services will enable the viewers to experience hd and sd video and internet surfing at the same time. we are the first indigenous local operator in the region to launch such a premium platform with a variety of services to nigerians, who have been so far paying exorbitant prices to foreign operators.”

Here are some special offers unique to TSTV
– Pay per view
– 20gb free data (Wi-Fi)
– Inbuilt camera for video calls
– Hard Disk 50gb storage space
– Low price decoder (N5000)
– Very low subscription fees (N200, N500, N1000, N1500, and N3000)
– Pause function (you can pause our subscription while on a trip without bothering about accruing costs)
– 10 BeIN sports stations

DSTV probably tried to up their game in the face of potential competition as a few days back they announced a Pay-as-you-go idea. It has since remained an Idea and has not been implemented as yet. While DSTV is purely a satellite TV provider, TSTV takes the cake providing both a satellite and Internet services.

DSTV customers think it is great that they get healthy competition and are hoping they shake things up and up their game. Others are just excited that TSTV is Nigerian owned. Here are trending tweets on the matter;

@chydee tweeted “I don’t know if TSTV will be another HiTv but when they launch I am buying it. if for nothing else, to contribute to shaking up DSTV a bit”

@Uncle_Ajala tweeted “Dear Nigerians, let’s support TSTV to give DSTV a good competition. Buy Naija to grow the Naira.”

Similar posts have been making the rounds as Nigerians earnestly anticipate 1st October. TSTV Africa will function in all states of Nigeria. TSTV decoder will be on sell all across the nation from 1st October.

The official site for TSTV is http://www.tstvafrica.com in the mean while, here’s a rundown of the channels that will be on board after the launch.

PoliticsPandemonium At APC Restructuring Committee Meeting In Akure by engineerboat(op): 12:05pm On Sep 22, 2017
HOODLUMS yesterday beat up and stripped the Osun state Commissioner for Regional integration, Hon Bola Ilori, naked during the All Progressive Congress, APC, Committee on True Federalism and Restructuring held in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Ilori’s white long sleeve shirt and singlet were torn while the timely intervention of security operatives prevented further assault on him. The ugly incident disrupted the meeting which had in attendance the state leader of the committee Racheal Akpabio, state deputy governor Agboola Ajayi, state chairman Ade Adetimehin and the vice chairman south west of the party chief Pius Akinyelure, state commissioners and traditional rulers.

Other top party leaders from other south west states were equally in attendance to make presentations on behalf of their states For over 30 minutes pandemonium reigned supreme at the International Event Centre, the venue of the meeting.

Signs that a problem was looming was noticed when llori was booed by the party members when he was making an addendum to the Osun state presentation after their leader Adedeji Gbadegesin had spoken.

He was about leaving the venue, after the presentation, when some thugs mugged him and nearly stripped him naked. The members of the party from Osun state were said to have gone wild following the treatment Ilori meted out to their leader. Stones and other dangerous weapons were freely used by the party members outside the venue.

Security operatives efforts to calm party members from other states proved abortive as most of them fled the venue. In an interview llori alleged that it was the state Secretary to Government SSG lfedayo Abegunde that sent his boys to beat him up.

Ilori said that his molestation by the boys loyal to Abegunde was against the senatorial election in 2019. According to him the boys accused him of being a chieftain of the Alliance for Democracy AD and didn’t support the governor Rotimi Akeredolu in the last governorship election.

He said that the incident would have recorded casualties if he had not pleaded with party members from retaliating.

But the Ondo state information commissioner Yemi Olowolabi said that the Osun delegates came to the venue to foment trouble. Olowolabi said that they came with charms and cudgels to attack members of the party in the state.

The commissioner alleged that Ilori seized the microphone after the leader of the delegates from Osun State made a presentation. “ What happened was avoidable if he had not seized the microphone which must have provoked the party members. Olowolabi added that the event was peaceful until ilori seized the microphone when he was not the leader of the delegate from the state. He commended the state Deputy governor, party chairman and secretary to government for prevailing on party members not to take the laws into their hands despite the unwarranted provocation by the Osun delegates

PoliticsAnambra Guber: Obiano Doesn’t Deserve Second Term – Obi by engineerboat(op): 9:33am On Sep 22, 2017
The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, yesterday said that the incumbent Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has nothing to show for the mandate he was given by the people of the state, and therefore does not deserve another mandate from the people of the state.

Mr Obi who was in Nnewi for an interaction with PDP officers in Nnewi North Local Government Area, said that most of the projects he started and could not complete before he left have remained the way he left them when he was bowing out of office.

Visibly angry, Mr. Obi made it abundantly clear that he is no more interested in contesting for any elective position again in the state and urged the PDP members to market Mr Obaze Oseloka who is the standard bearer of the party to all nooks and crannies of the area.

“I have no selfish interest in putting anyone into office, my interest is to ensure that the people of the state get the best, and equally fight bad governance anywhere no matter who is concerned.”

Mr Obi also stated that he has no personal issue with Chief Obiano and that the paramount thing to Anambra people now is to have a governor who will deepen his achievements in office by moving from Millennium Development Goals, MDGs to SDGs.

Reacting to a question on why Anambra people should trust his choice of candidate after the incumbent he helped into office has allegedly failed, Obi said that Obiano has not for once agreed that he helped him in any way.

He reassured the PDP faithful that better days lie ahead for them if they pitch their tent with Mr. Obaze who he said is a seasoned diplomat noting that Nigeria can not progress when some candidates are buying votes.

Meanwhile some of the people who attended the meeting, who are aggrieved with Mr Obi’s position said that the Governor should first of all publicly apologized to the people of the state, for deceiving them if he says that Governor Obiano is not doing well.

According to Chris Obieze, a participant in the meeting said “if former Governor Obi is telling us that the person he put in office as his successor is not doing well, he should apologize to the people of the state for deceiving us, how can we believe him now that another person he is bringing to us will be better, is there no possibility that he will fall out with this one when he enters office and he will come back to say the same thing he is not saying about Obiano, our people should be the last judge.”

PoliticsLai Mohammed Must Stop The Wild Allegations – Governor Wike by engineerboat(op): 8:05am On Sep 22, 2017
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has lent his voice to those calling on the Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to tone down his rhetoric.

Speaking at the the 13th edition of All Nigeria Editors conference, in Port Harcourt, Wike said well meaning Nigerians should call Mohammed to order over his irresponsible utterances and wild allegations against members of opposition political parties.

“Nigerians of goodwill must therefore call the Minister of Information to stop stoking the ambers of disharmony and divisions in the polity with his irresponsible utterances and wild allegations against members of opposition political parties.

“We are only pretending we think that all is well with our country. The country is in crisis as poor governance, nepotism, marginalization and state-sponsored repression continue to do violence to nation unity and cohesion”, he said.

“Nigeria has never witnessed the degree of contemporary agitations for justice and equity going on in the form of call for restructuring, fiscal federalism, demand for free and fair elections, stressing the need for “forthright leadership and consensus building to steer the ship of state from the wrong direction it is headed to safer grounds.”

“Today, the clamour for political restructuring, fiscal federalism, State police and guarantees for free and fair elections have never been this determined across the country and will never go away. It is becoming clearer by the day that to ignore these calls is pretentiously dangerous to the unity and peaceful co-existence of this country.” he added.

“For some of us therefore, there is nothing nobler than being counted on this path and as long as God gives us breathe we shall remain in the trenches fighting for our democratic rights and freedoms until victory is ultimately achieved.

But, we also believe that this is a fight that should and must be led by the media for full effect and agenda setting. This calls for greater vigilance and courage in giving effective voice to the contending issues and taking personal responsibility for factuality. It can’t be otherwise.” he added.

The whole world is waiting for you
CrimeOmoyele Sowore Of Sahara Reporter, Rape Case At UNILAG, The Allegation That Rema by engineerboat(op): 10:30am On Sep 20, 2017
There’s no excuse for the use of force to take a gift bequeathed to any gender as regards sex. Rape which might be defined as sexual assault in its plainest form can also mean ‘to plunder or strip of resources’. Forcing someone to have sex with you against their will is a crime to the existence of that person. It debases the individual involved.

Rape isn’t gender specific but the most prevalent of rape cases are that of male orchestrated rape incidence.

The need for this write-up cannot be over emphasized as it has become a scourge in the society.

The lack of discretion and shame in which male engineered rape has become rampant leaves the mind worried.

Recently the case of secondary school students trying to rape their female contemporaries in the open is an issue that leaves the mind puzzled and the case of a young female teenager raped to death by some male suitors in her neighborhood, paints a horrid picture in the mind.

The situations are scary but what is more scary is the fact that up till now, there has been no scapegoat made of the culprits of the hideous acts; this as always been the case in Nigeria and I will use the case of the publisher of Sahara reporter, Omoyele Sowore as a case study.

Omoyele Sowore is the founder of the independent online investigative media outfit named Sahara reporters.

Just like the popular saying that he who wishes to shout equity must come with clean hands, the allegation of rape case against the publisher of Nigeria’s popular blogger Mr. Omoyele Swore has refused to go away.

Recall that former Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro in a forum back then, made a pronouncement that Omoyele Sowore of the Sahara Reporters was once arrested for rape.

The statement made by the former police chief has since become a subject of discussion, controversy and has refused to die down in the news media.

Okiro alleged that Omoyele Sowore had raped a UNILAG female student who’s now married with two kids. “I arrested him when I was Surulere Area Commander of the Nigeria Police. I prosecuted him and he jumped bail”, said Mike Okiro, former Inspector General of Nigeria Police?

Sowore is a power house when it comes to online reporting and some of the revelations of the media outfit have been ground breaking. However, Mr. Omoyele once leveled an allegation against the former inspector general of police, Mike Okiro and Mr. Okiro did state that Mr. Omoyele Sowore was a rapist that he once arrested, jumped bail and is back with vendetta to nail him for his arrest.

Okiro actually gave a graphical detail of the crime, the circumstances and the state of the victim at the time.

Brick bats have been flung back and forth over this revelation. As the controversy rages, some have hinted that, the unprofessional conducts of the police may have made his criminal evading of arrest possible while others allege that Okiro must have been privy to Sowore’s bail-jumping stunt, while yet another segment insist that politics or not, a criminal must face justice no matter how long ago the crime was committed.

So far, Sowore has neither affirmed Okiro’s pronouncement nor denied it, thus making further speculations and controversies, rife.

Typical of Nigerians, we allowed sentiments cloud our minds as regards this rape allegation and sacrificed reason on the altar of political patronage; people accused the then ruling party of witch-hunt and the issue was swept under the carpet without Mr. Omoyele Sowore denying it affirmatively.

This is how society enables rapists and empowers young males to believe once they can cheat the legal system and end up successful, they can get away with rape accusations, even when such accusations are made by ex- principal officers like Mike Okiro.

What hope will there be for any of his victims if the above allegations are true? Will they ever find justice? Will they ever be bold enough to step out with intimidations and accusations of being called paid political prostitute of his so called enemies?

Doesn’t this mean we would be empowering a beast beyond the normal boundaries of humanity?

It is time to throw away political affinities and sentiments and put on a thinking cap as what this issue portends if actually the allegations are true and to be honest with you the thoughts of it are chilling.

Try to imagine the pain of the supposed female victim of Sowore’s rape seeing him on National television being celebrated, try and imagine what effect it might have on her.

Imagine if she has male children and tells them that Sowore once raped her and all the Children see is a man being celebrated everyday instead of prosecuted, how do you think such young men will realize rape is bad?

Think deeply about it and see how letting Omoyele Sowore get out of the rape allegation so easily aids the move by young men attempting to rape their secondary school counterpart.

The issue here is not to nail Mr. Omoyele Sowore but to beam the searchlight of enquiry on a man whose establishment thrives on public trust.

It is saddening that the public can take accusations of rape leveled against such an individual with a pinch of salt. The intent of this write-up is not to declare him guilty but it is only right that the public should be interested in his innocence or lack of it. What if the former inspector general of police is right? What if the allegation against him is true? Does it mean we have a rapist as an investigative power house in Africa’s most populous country?

In Lagos State and Nigeria, a law has been passed to punish crime such as rape by legislators, State and Federal prescribed life imprisonment for any rapist. Since the crime was allegedly committed in Lagos which is also part of Nigeria, Sowore can be tried for the crime in any part of Nigeria.

Public commentators have been calling on government and other anti rape agencies both in Nigeria and abroad to once again look into the allegation of Mike Okiro, Mr Mike is not dead, he is still alive and can retell the story which will aide investigations, the victim is also alive and can tell her own story but should be under a protection.

Like I said earlier, this write-up is not an attempt to crucify Omoyele Sowore but if he has an atom of decency in him, he would come back to Nigeria, sue Mr. Mike Okiro and ask him to mention the name of the lady raped.

He would press charges so as to ensure that his name is cleared from such scandal. He would issue a press conference, denying ever being involved in such a case.

He would demand that his case file be brought out and make it a big issue. That way, young people will realize that rape is not a trifling issue.

Young people will realize that an allegation of rape is one that might come to haunt you in the future.

That way, a clear message will be sent out beyond Nigeria that rape is a big issue and must be treated as such.

So far, so good, there hasn’t been any clear denial of this allegations, there hasn’t been any press conference to address it and most importantly everyone have been acting like they have moved on like it doesn’t matter- which goes a long way to show the message we are sending to younger generations, the Nigerian populace should once again show interest in this case until it gets to a convulsive end.

He referred to IPOB as a contraption against the Buhari administration, saying the government had to swing into action to prevent the organisation from creating more problems.

“IPOB might not have invented hate speech, fake news, misinformation, but it has employed these to push its agenda,” he said.

“The self-imposed IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is the master of hate speech. His supporters should listen closely to his inciting remarks and cruel statements. If such does not constitute hate speech, then tell me what hate speech is

“We have tolerated the excesses of Kanu for too long. Mention one country in the world where an organisation has set up a military organisation, confronted the national army and engaged in exploiting of people without consequences.

“There is nothing like genocide anywhere in our country today. What we have in the south-east is a clampdown on a band of lawless people who have no regard for the laws of the land.”

Mohammed alleged that the group had harvested fake videos of mass killings from other parts of Africa and doctored to look current.

He said this is to mislead the international community and win support.

“We must warn the nation against IPOB’s next line of action, which is to externalise their lies and propaganda,” he said.

“Now they are writing to the government and the national parliaments of some Western nations to give the impression that they are victims of violence orchestrated by the government, hence they need protection.

“Some of the tools that have been employed by IPOB include blatant lies and cheap propaganda, and the medium of choice for the organisation is the social media.

“IPOB has harvested gory videos and pictures from other lands and the distant past, which they are now circulating via the social media, to deceive the international community.

“IPOB is deceiving them into believing that the people of the south-east are being subjected to state-sponsored, ethnoreligious”

CrimeBribe-collecting Policemen Handcuff Passenger To Vehicle After Driver Escaped by engineerboat(op): 1:01am On Sep 19, 2017
Some policemen attached to the Osun State Police Command have allegedly dehumanised a bus passenger at the Erinmo Ijesa end of the Iwaraja-Efon Alaaye Road, Osun State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the policemen, who were in a Hilux van, mounted a checkpoint on the road and extorted money from commercial bus drivers.

However, a commercial bus driver, who was stopped, reportedly refused to pay them any money and was ordered to park by the roadside.

After the driver parked, one of the passengers was said to have alighted from the bus to urinate in a bush.

Our correspondent was told that the driver, on discovering that the attention of the policemen had shifted to another vehicle, quickly drove off, abandoning the man that went to urinate.

A monarch, the Owa Tapa of Itapa Ijesha, Dr Olapade Agoro, whose university’s site was around the area, said the abandoned passenger was picked up by the policemen and handcuffed to the patrol van.

He explained that the victim was handcuffed to the van for over two hours during which he soiled himself, as his cry for mercy fell on deaf ears.

He said, “The sad and highly embarrassing incident happened on Sunday (September 10, 2017). The commercial bus the man was travelling in was stopped by the police for the usual ‘palm greasing’. The man came down from the vehicle to urinate.

“However, the deal between the driver and the policemen failed, prompting the police to ask the driver to park properly by the roadside while they attended to another vehicle.

“While they focussed on the other vehicle, the driver used the opportunity to speed off, leaving behind the passenger who went to urinate in the bush. When the passenger came back to discover that the bus had gone, he made enquiries about its whereabouts.

“Immediately the police officers discovered that he was on the bus that sped off, they pounced on him and thereafter handcuffed one of his hands to the back of the police van. The man was left handcuffed to the vehicle between the hours of 11am and 1pm, during which he urinated on himself and wept profusely.”

He said he was angry at the maltreatment of the victim and he challenged the policemen.

Agoro said the cops subsequently released the passenger, who later came to his palace to appreciate the intervention.

“While still crying over his ordeal, he made me to realise that he had no money as the policemen had forcefully removed the last money on him from his pocket. I had to, on compassionate ground, give him N1,000 that enabled him to find his way back to his Aramoko Ekiti place of abode,” he added.

The traditional ruler said the inscription on the patrol van showed it belonged to policemen from the Osun Police Command, adding that fear prevented a resident from taking a clear snapshot of both the victim and the patrol number.

He, however, said he would recognise the men if he saw them again.

“I have a university site around the place, so there is a bump on the road. Because of the bump, vehicles are forced to slow down and the policemen use that as an opportunity to extort money from commercial drivers. Sometimes, they shoot indiscriminately. They have been doing this for a long time, but this incident was appalling.

“The situation of things in this country is terrible; but the policemen should not have tied the man down like an animal. The man urinated on himself and they didn’t care until I challenged them,” he added.

The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Odoro Folashade, said she could not react to the incident because the case had yet to be reported to any police station.

She said, “He should go and report to the nearest police station; then I will call them and find out what happened. What reaction do you want from me when the case has not been reported? He should go and establish his case, and then we will investigate.”

PoliticsAPC Accuses Fayose Of Funding IPOB by engineerboat(op): 12:33am On Sep 18, 2017
On the day the federal government accused disgruntled politicians of sponsoring the separatist group, IPOB, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State has accused the state governor, Ayodele Fayose, of funding the group and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The party accused Mr. Fayose, a vocal critic of the Muhammadu Buhari federal administration, of plotting to destabilise Nigeria.

The party also said that the governor’s counsel in a press release on Saturday urging dialogue to resolve the Biafran crisis was an afterthought.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said in a statement on Sunday that the Nigerian Army was performing its constitutional role of preserving the unity of Nigeria and bringing all secessionists and their backers to justice.

Mr. Fayose had urged the federal government to embrace dialogue in the resolution of the Biafran agitation after the Nigerian military declared IPOB a terrorist organisation.

He had earlier accused the government and the military of ethnic cleansing in their handling of the Biafran agitation.

Mr. Olatunbosun said the governor’s actions and utterances had shown that he was “solidly behind any activity that will bring Nigeria down.”

“On April 26 and as published by The Nigerian Tribune Newspaper and its online publication on April 27, 2017, Fayose said he was working in conjunction with Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, to raise funds for Kanu, stressing that he was taking his support for Kanu beyond showing solidarity in court by raising funds that would be deposited in an account opened in Kanu’s name,” Mr. Olatunbosun alleged.

He quoted the governor as saying that, “as many lawyers willing to fight the oppression should join the struggle for liberation from the oppression,” alleging that Mr. Fayose was not new to seditious and treasonable activities to bring Nigeria down.

“He led a campaign to the Chinese Embassy in Abuja and later to Shanghai, the Chinese capital, to urge the Chinese government not to lend hands in helping Nigeria out of recession,” continued Mr. Olatunbosun.

“Relentlessly, he led hate campaigns against the symbol of the Nigerian authority, President Muhammadu Buhari, wishing him dead, including hounding and haunting the President across the world, including on his sick bed, and threatening to expose the President on a life-support machine, all these in spite of swearing to uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to be loyal to the Nigerian state and her President.

“He went further as reported in the media on May 25, 2017 that ‘Ekiti State is now part of Biafra’, which drew the ire of several Yoruba groups as reported in the media.

“Not done, while Nigerians and indeed the country’s leaders were celebrating Nigeria’s exit from recession, Fayose was the only governor across the country who dismissed the celebration as a ruse, maintaining that Nigeria was still in a deep economic mess even though in his state, he is the biggest stumbling block to the survival of Ekiti people by diverting all loans he took to pay workers salary to needless projects contracts awarded to his friends’ companies in which he allegedly has interest.”

Mr. Olatunbosun further alleged that Mr. Fayose demonstrated the seriousness of his support for the collapse of Nigeria when he released his telephone number 070300000393 and email: mystory2006@yahoo.com as reported in the media on April 27, 2017, urging all that were interested in the Biafra cause to contact him through the phone number and email address.

“All the South-east governors, including the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, have opposed Kanu in his secessionist activities while Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has warned Kanu and IPOB to stay away from Rivers; but Fayose declared Ekiti State as part of Biafra and that has confirmed the report that he is part of Biafra’s financiers as he had publicly declared to the media,” said Mr. Olatunbosun.
Nnamdi Kanu

“No wonder, just four months after Fayose started mobilising funds for Biafra, thousands of deadly weapons, including military assault rifles, were smuggled into the country but were intercepted by the Nigerian Customs while it was also discovered that uniformed Biafran militants already have military training camps where they are planning deadly assaults against Nigeria after threatening her leaders.

“We had earlier alerted the security agencies to the presence of armed gangs and stockpiling of arms in the Ekiti State Government House and his present activities in raising funds for Kanu only confirm that he is part of rebellion against the Nigerian state.

“We have always insisted that Fayose is a threat to the Nigeria’s unity and the economic survival of her people.”

The APC spokesman urged security agencies and Interpol to investigate Mr. Fayose in his support for funding IPOB with “the latest influx of military assault rifles into the country.”

“His support for Kanu in funds mobilisation for his treasonable act and the activities of Fayose’s media men in promoting the Biafran cause only point to one agenda to destabilise Nigeria and that has proved us right that Fayose has no agenda than the destabilisation of Nigeria to enable him escape all illegal and criminal activities linked to him in recent past,” he added.

But Mr. Fayose has described the allegation as baseless, saying his support for the group did not translate into funding of the IPOB.

His Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, who spoke on his behalf, told PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday that the APC allegation was an attempt to “cover up the federal government’s torture and killing of the Igbo people.”

He said the governor had the right to express his support for any group, including the IPOB, arguing that the travails of the Igbo people should be the concern of all Nigerians.

“The attack by the military on the IPOB should be a concern for all Nigerians,” he said. “The people are expressing their fundamental rights. Their demands are legitimate.”

He denied raising funds for the group, saying that it was the ploy of the APC and the government at the centre to defend their wrongdoings and silence any opposition.

“The agitation of the IPOB is as a result of bad governance by the present administration,” Mr. Adelusi said.

“If there was good governance, there would not have been any need for the agitations; there would not have been calls for restructuring by the Niger Delta agitators, Afenifere and other groups.”

Mr. Adelusi further reasoned that the proclamation of IPOB as terrorist organisation was uncalled for, given that far more dangerous groups like the Fulani herdsmen, who had been accused of killing, maiming and raping, had been treated lightly.

PoliticsOperation Python Dance: Army Withdraws From Abia by engineerboat(op): 12:26am On Sep 18, 2017
Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has expressed gratitude to God for averting bloodbath in the state, following the withdrawal of troops deployed to Abia for a one-month military exercise code-named “Operation Python Dance.”

Ikpeazu made the remark on Sunday when he visited the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abia council to commiserate with journalists over last Tuesday’s invasion of the secretariat by soldiers.

The governor noted that the presence of the troops sparked tension across the state. He said “we are grateful to God for intervening in stopping what could have been the greatest bloodbath known in the history of mankind.”

He also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for reposing confidence in Southeast Governors’ Forum, “by giving us a second chance to talk to our people on the need for us to live as one united nation.” He added that the Igbos remained the most widely travelled people in Nigeria, living and conducting businesses in every nook and cranny of the country. The governor put the estimated population of Igbos in the north at about 12 million, with Borno having the least population of about 50,000 Igbo households. He said Abia needed peace for business to thrive, especially in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state. “I am very happy to say that normalcy has returned to the state,” he said, adding that Muslims worshipped in their Mosque on Friday in Aba. He, therefore, urged residents of the state to go about their lawful businesses, assuring them that government would continue to provide adequate security for lives and property. The governor described the invasion of the NUJ secretariat as unwarranted, saying that “journalists do not deserve such an attack.”

He said that although journalists faced different hazards in the course of their duty, military attacks only happened under military regime or war situation and not in a democracy.

Ikpeazu, who complained that the activities of his administration were under-reported, urged journalists to help in reporting the state positively to the world. He promised to look into some of the challenges facing the Abia NUJ, including taking steps to complete the union’s unfinished permanent secretariat.

Earlier, the state Chairman of the union, Mr John Emejor, narrated how the secretariat was invaded by no fewer than 20 soldiers without any provocation. Emejor said that Abia NUJ was the only council in the country that still operated in rented apartment. He described the relationship between the union and Ikpeazu’s administration as frosty and urged the governor to take steps to reverse the trend. The Abia correspondent of The Oracle Today newspaper, Bonny Okoro, was manhandled during the attack. His Samsung tablet, as well as a cellphone belonging to the correspondent of Daily Times, Mr Sunny Nwakanma, was also destroyed by the assailants. Gov. Ikpeazu was accompanied on the visit by his Deputy, Chief Ude Oko-Chukwu, Rep. Sam Onuigbo representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, and the Pillar of Abia NUJ, Dr Anthony Agbazuere.

FoodCockroach Milk: Coming Soon by engineerboat(op): 10:48am On Sep 17, 2017
According to Dailymail UK, the next superfood may well be cockroach milk. Forget kale, quinoa, cacoa, acai berries, chia seeds and coconut oil, because roaches could be the secret ingredient coming to the hippest cafes soon.

According to a group of scientists based in India, cockroach milk is four times as nutritious as cow’s milk and has a unique form of protein contained in it. The milk is produced by the Pacific beetle cockroach, the only type of the species that gives birth to live young.

The cockroach secretes a type of milk that contains protein crystals to feed its embryos before they are born.

‘The crystals are like a complete food — they have proteins, fats and sugars. If you look into the protein sequences, they have all the essential amino acids,’ author of the study, Sanchari Banerjee, told Times of India.

The protein also has other benefits, like the fact that it releases energy slowly over a long period of time. ‘It’s time-released food. If you need food that is calorifically high, that is time released and food that is complete. This is it,’ another scientist, Professor Ramaswamy explained.

Scientists who made the discovery were working at the Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, and believe the milk could be used as a protein supplement in the future.

However, rather than trying to milk cockroaches, which would prove very ineffective, the researchers are trying to find a way to produce the protein crystals in their lab.

The findings of the scientists can be read in full in the International Union of Crystallography Journal, but it’s fairly technical.

It’s not the first time scientists have advocated for consuming bugs either. Last year a study from Oxford University found that consuming insects like cockroaches gave you more protein than equivalent amounts of red meat.
