Objections by NLC nd MAN are circumstances of our lack of preparation .I don't see any reason why NIgeria should not be adequately prepared. Let nt forget intra African trade only accounts for a low percentage of our GDP. We have spent more money than most African countries on infrastructure yet value addition in our manufacturing industry is hindered by poor infrastructure, low energy output and poor development of human capital. The govt should take responsibility for our lack of preparation. Were is the so called diversification of the economy . Open ur eyes nd stop making excuses. NIgeria is being left behind by other African Nations.

Free trade agreement which NIgeria was essential to its development is specifically created to encourage Africa's self sustainability economically, socially and politically. In my view it would help curb a lot of challenges I. e poverty, limited education, migration issues, cultural and language barriers. With all this in mind president buhari has had sufficient time since it was first suggested 3yrs ago to handle internal challenges, it is clear the oligarch in Nigeria who want to exclusively maintain economic opportunities within Africa and reduce such opportunities to the average Nigerians have influenced President Buhari position on the issue.

As at 2015, the FR was $29b. The CBN could not meet the daily forex demands of the country. Now, what happens when there is excess pressure on scarce resources, price will rise (simple economics). These comodities are imported. We needed dollars for imports of which PDP refuse to save. Also, recall that initialy PMB refused to devalue the naira opting to remove some goods which we can produce in the country from accessing dollar from CBN.
Again, devaluatoin encourages exportation. It is not about the value of your currency but the stability of it. Japan, italy, china, etc comes to mind. When currencies are devalued, exports become cheap and imports expensive, and vice versa. Also this creates opportunities for enterpreneurs with the multipler effect being job creation. A high valued currency would make imports cheap.
People like the OP don't want to work. They want to keep sharing the money. Marco economics policies takes time to achieve their targeted impact.
