This post is a bit of a tangent but it relates in a sense to my appreciation of the quote in my last post above. Below is part of a statement made by/attributed to Billy Graham which has been a bit controversial; however, I am quite comfortable with it because, in my view, it still acoords with Christ's statements "I am the Way. . ." and "Nobody comes to the Father except by Me . . ." {Now I'm thinking about it, it may be that this matter is better for its own thread!} Well, Christianity and being a true believer--you know, I think there's the Body of Christ. This comes from all the Christian groups around the world, outside the Christian groups. I think everybody that loves Christ, or knows Christ, whether they're conscious of it or not, they're members of the Body of Christ. And I don't think that we're going to see a great sweeping revival, that will turn the whole world to Christ at any time. I think James answered that, the Apostle James in the first council in Jerusalem, when he said that God's purpose for this age is to call out a people for His name. And that's what God is doing today, He's calling people out of the world for His name, whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ because they've been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don't have, and they turn to the only light that they have, and I think that they are saved, and that they're going to be with us in heaven. |
@ olason & Jossybless I've not made any useful progress on password for the Skylife HD; Sky just doesn't use passwords like that here. However, while googling I came across an email address for Skylife Korea and for English speakers too. You could try them ----- either ask them very nicely or make up some story as to why you need a password e.g. power failure and reboot. The email is: english@skylife.co --- I haven't tried it myself so I hope you have luck with it. |
freshp:This is correct; for example the change of some Nilesat transponders to 5/6 last year made life difficult for some of us UK users of Nilesat. Remember that 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 are FEC which means 'forward error correction'; see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_error_correction and perhaps a layman's way of putting it is to say that those higher values result in less error correction and greater difficulty resolving very weak out of footprint signals. Soulstarr:Thank you very much Soulstarr; I meant to do a post very similar to this yesterday. ![]() |
chukwudi44:I agree; I made the comment that it would please you as a friendly joke --- I should have added a smiley! ![]() |
This story will please chukwudi44 in particular, I guess. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/7493521/Kwik-Save-tycoon-gives-up-riches-in-pact-with-God.html The devout Roman Catholic vowed to hand over half his fortune to the Church if he ever became rich when he was working as a penniless sweets-seller in Wales after the Second World War. The Welsh tycoon has stipulated that half the income must be invested in the Roman Catholic Church, in line with his “pact”, while the rest can be distributed at the discretion of the trustees. |
CHARLOE:Some years ago, for the fun of it I went along as a guest to one RCCG's Festival of Life in London. The American guest preacher basically preached the message depicted above and also preached the lie that "the anointing into which you sow determines your fruit/harvest". When he finished his spiel, the GO got up and praised the American con man and said that the con man had already preached the sermon that he (the GO) wanted to preach; in other words he agreed with the con man's lie! Anyway, there was even something which irritated me more than that one at the meeting. Towards the end, the GO made an "altar call"; in making the altar call he said that people had until he counted till the end of 10 (or so) for them to be saved (God's time doesn't seem to matter of course). BUT worse, he said that people should come forward to get the "real" salvation ---- even if they had been saved before ------ so is it only the "altar call" at an RCCG events that leads to "salvation"? |
bigfoot79:A good start would be to get a Bible which has the words of Jesus in red; study Jesus' words only for a little while first. ![]() |

@Kunle Ma da won l'ohun jare; Oyaks dey yarn opaks like Rasaki wey buy Kawasaki and no gree us hear word. Him boy come dey talk nonsense here say apostle Peter and co no get "indept" knowledge. Yeye nonsense wey vex me dis morning. ![]() |
I'm only beginning to read this thread but I've already seen what I like most about it which is this quote: In generations past He permitted all the nations to walk in their own ways; Yet He did not neglect to leave some witness of Himself (Acts 14:16-17).I relate it to our own ancestry and even to "non-Christians" today! |
@Joagbaje I'm going to ignore the issue of "revelation knowledge". (I'm not running away from it, just leaving it till another day: "agbo ti o f'ehin rin lo ni; o lo m'agbara wa ni, ko sa"!) Let me break down something important for you based on your statement quoted below: only 2 apostles had the indept understanding of the teachings of Christ about the new lifeWhat you are saying in essence, among other things, is this: 1. Christ Himself made a mistake in selecting Peter and the other apostles (except your 2) to be the foundations of His church --- since they were not good enough. 2. You and Oyakhilome know better than all of those ten apostles ---- maybe by your "revelation knowledge"; and of course, your "revelation knowledge" is superior to the first hand learning that those 10 apostles obtained in all the years they spent with Christ 3. Additionally, the Holy Spirit that Christ breathed into them and sent to them at Pentecost did not really do anything for them; even that is trumped by the "revelation knowledge" of you and opaks Oyaks! 4. Since Peter and the other 9 apostles (except your 2) did not have "indept" (sic) knowledge of the teachings of Christ, we really should ignore the gospels and all the books of the Bible associated with any of those 10! We should discard the gospels of Matthew, Mark, the Epistles of Peter, James, Jude etc. 5. In fact we should not follow the Bible; our manual should be "Rhapsody of Realities" since its author Oyakhilome has "revelation knowledge" that is superior to the learning of the apostle Peter and all the other apostles except your 2. Do you see why you are a brainwashed mug? You do not realise that a strong brainwashing tool is to prevent the mug from having outside influences, which is why Nigeria's heretic-in-chief only stores his own materials in your bookshops. He knows that if some of his victims come in contact with the truth and the Truth they will walk away from CEC. Well, let's see whether they can prevent all of you from coming to the Internet! |
hooged:@hooged I didn't comment again because Irapada had answered (and correctly, I believe). First you need to indicate which satellite you are after; second, Irapada is located very near you and should really have better local practical information than me. ![]() |
Joagbaje:Joagbaje By your last post, you have shown once again that you and your boss Chris Oyakhilome are both heretics! While I don't pity Oyakhilome, I really pity you because you are just a brainwashed mug --- who seems to have a genuine desire to be part of Christianity. I accept that I might be wrong and you might be a deceiver too, for all I know! Regarding "revelation knowledge", I have told you before (only you don't learn easily/quickly) that "revelation knowledge" is often code for a lying and deceiving fella like Oyaks to spew forth the satanic contents of his mind --- which usually contradicts the Bible, contradicts Christ, contradicts the apostles. |
@ olason It is not usual for our own Sky receivers to prompt for password just to enter system menu! Is the remote similar to the picture posted by Blackstars? If the receiver came with a card, try the last four digits of the card number. I expect you've already tried 0000, 1234, 2011? |
Biox:My friend I'm afraid this isn't the great enlightenment I expected; I expected much much more with great erudition from you!!!!!!!! Ooooooh, I'm so disappointed because I was soooo looking forward to learning from you! Seriously: 1. Is "pastor" Chris really a pastor? Who made him a pastor or how did he become a pastor? 2. Is Oyakhilome really "called of God"? Were you there when God called him and did you hear God's voice when He called? Otherwise, how do you know that he is "called of God"? 3. I don't understand what you mean by "statics" ----- but if Oyaks yarns opaks by contradicting the Bible and the teachings of Christ and the apostles, I certainly will "classify" him --- and I know what to "classify" him as! |
Biox:OK then; please enlighten me! |
OK then; start by reading my last three replies to Joagbaje (posts 213, 215 & 217) and Joagbaje's related posts and tell me if you can understand why in that particular context Oyakhilome may possibly be at least reasonably accused of being a heretic. |
Biox:Your problem is you worship and follow a mere man - Oyakhilome. When you learn to worship Jesus and to follow the teachings of Jesus and of his apostles --- you will recognise heresy and thus a heretic when you see it/him. |
newmi:Joagbaje is a pastor in CEC, ask him as he should be able to tell you; otherwise search for quite a number of threads where we have debated him on his and CEC'S doctrine. |
enitan2002:Nah Enitan, what is not illegal is not illegal. If you want to go down the route you are going then even watching free/FTA channels from out of footprint areas (e.g. Nilesat) should be illegal --- since many of the programmes are only "legal" for the Middle East as that is where they are licensed for! |
Joagbaje:OK I don't mind a truce --- but anytime you denigrate any of the apostles, your man will get it; any time you equate your man with any of the apostles he will get it; any time you equate him with Christ, he will get it; any time you equate him with "god" or for that matter God, he will get it. Regarding the 2 Peter that you quoted, here is your second free lesson for today. 1. Yes, Peter said that Paul wrote things that were hard to be understood BUT Peter did not say that those things were hard for him (Peter) to understand. 2. Those who twisted Paul's "hard to understand" teachings were the unlearned and unstable (I'm refraining from naming examples) 3. Those unlearned and unstable also twisted the other scriptures; so the problem was not with Paul's writings but with those unlearned and unstable people Now here comes my overriding point: 4. Paul and Peter were in agreement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read the whole chapter: Peter first reassured his audience of the Gospel and of the coming of the Lord. He then told them that "these things" which he (Peter) was talking about, his brother and fellow apostle Paul also wrote of in the wisdom given to him. (Yes, one might have expressed his writing pastorally and the other intellectually ---- they were both talking about "these things" --- the same thing and not that one was "feeding on milk and one chewing on bones" in your risible words!) Here have this: Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. |
@olason Bros, I am still struggling with this one at the moment. Skylife is a Korean provider not UK so I don't really know how they operate. Here, in general you only normally need a code on UK Sky's receiver for a small number of adult channels. Could you explain the specific problem you are having and let's explore if there is any way round it. @ Blakstars To test the remote, put batteries in it; hold up a camera phone and press the remote buttons while pointing the remote at the camera aperture; if the remote is transmitting infra red, you will see its red lights/dots through the camera phone. In general, it is not advisable to buy the Sky receiver unless it is dirt cheap! It cannot control a motor; it cannot be used with more than one LNB; it has no blind scan, it needs to constantly lock to Sky's EPG on 28e which you cannot receive in Ghana ------------------ oh oh oh, come to think of it saying that ------ that might be your problem, the receiver might have thrown a wobbly when it could not locate Sky's default transponder!!! |
Interestingly, an effective debunker of "faith healers" is a Christian who is himself a very much respected magician who is credited with devising some illusions used by people like David Copperfield. His stage name is Andre Kole; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Kole Watch him "walk on water: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=andre+kole&aq=f ![]() Edited |
Moyola:Only the whole of Christianity --- except people who are in error or are heretics! |
Joagbaje:. . . after you tell us how the apostles repeat apostles Peter and James were/are still feeding on "milk". A little lesson for you this morning (only we know you seem implacably opposed to thinking) ---- if Oyakhilome's doctrine differs from that of Peter and/or James, Oyakhilome is ipso facto a heretic! |
adewest:This is not wholly true or really accurate, I'm afraid. 1. It depends on which country you are in and what you are watching; e.g. watching a foreign provider's overseas channel may not be illegal in the country in which you are watching it. 2. In many countries, watching pay TV without subscription will only attract a fine not a jail term. Kcbenjamin: maskuraid:I agree with these last two posts; it is very much part of the hobby to inform other hobbyists when there is something worthwhile to watch especially FTA; many proper satellite forums etc have sections called "Temporarily FTA". I recognise that we may be concerned that providers will yank off a channel/transmission if they think that people are watching it for free; the truth is that the risk is very small if those watching are just the rather small group of hobbyists. Edited |
Joagbaje:Your "Pastor Chris" is simply a heretic leading people directly into the arms of satan. Keep deceiving yourself about "milk" and "bones" and denigrating Christ's own pillars like Peter and James. |
hardywaltz:Some possible answers to the two questions A. How a "church" can be so callous? 1. All summed up in the corrupting work of satan including: 1.1. Greed and Love of Money 1.2. Love of Power and Position 1.3. Ignorant entrapment in false doctrine; too much pride to repent and turn away 1.4. Lazy and poor hermeneutics 1.5. Too much vested interest[; too much to lose if they turn away i.e. collapse of the empire, bankruptcy ---- you must keep asking for more money to maintain such a large organisation and large structure/edifices. This is where those who stress thoughtlessly "you need money to spread the gospel" are ignorant and sometimes daft (sorry to be blunt). Yes you need money, but you have to be wise both spiritually and materially --- Jesus said be as wise as serpents! 1.6. etc etc etc etc B. How the congregation can be so gullible 1. Ignorance and Illiteracy (not even meant pejoratively) 2. Poor education ---- an education culture that encourages accepting (rote learning) without questioning and does not teach proper comprehension! 3. Natural desire for success and comfort (coupled with either 1 or 2 above) 4. Greed ------ focus on material desire; seeing everything including religion/faith as the means of fulfilling material desires and greed 5. Difficulties in life and hope for a way out# 6. Superstition 7. etc etc etc ?? ![]() |
Even now I still have tears in my eyes from laughing so much! |
This story has livened up my morning! ![]() Youtube video (part 2): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpwCuv_izn4&feature=related Times Story: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article7067989.ece Mr Edamaruku had been invited to the same talk show as head of the Indian Rationalists’ Association — the country’s self-appointed sceptic-in-chief. At first the holy man, Pandit Surender Sharma, was reluctant, but eventually he agreed to perform a series of rituals designed to kill Mr Edamaruku live on television. Millions tuned in as the channel cancelled scheduled programming to continue broadcasting the showdown, which can still be viewed on YouTube. |
toba:It won't necessarily be a bad idea if they did! |
