Goshen360: At a time, I wanted to date a female teacher and when she refused, I organized my gang and we dealt with her. It was later found out and I was suspended from school and to bring my parent or guardian at resumption. This was at the time I was about to take my WAEC. Knowing that my uncle is a pastor, I can't go to school with my uncle; I had to organize my 'Area father' to come stand in for me and disguise as my guardian. So when he came to the school authorities, they told him everything and he was acting - slapping me for real like a discipline..... grin
So then, the 'area father' of the naughty schoolboy said to the principal: "Ọga alaiye, awa gbọ p'ọmọ nla ti ṣẹ awa dẹ ti b'ọmọ nla wi. Em Iwọ ọmọ nla, gba classi ẹ lọ." smiley

Goshen360: . . . Ladies and Gentlemen, permit me to say - conversation don't happen at alter calls, it happens inside of a man with the power of the Holy Spirit convicting the world and passion of sin in men.
I think you should change the word I bolded to what you really mean for accuracy and further impact, cheers. smiley
... the Judas Iscariots of the world that cling on to their moneybags and attempt to walk with Jesus at the same time will eventually find themselves selling their Lord for silver. Flee from prosperity preachers.. . . .
+1

You will not read in the Bible of Jesus preaching the prosperity "gospel".

You will not read in the Bible of the apostle Peter preaching the prosperity "gospel".

You will not read of James, John, Paul etc etc etc etc preaching the prosperity "gospel".
Christianity EtcRe: How To Tell A Prosperity Preacher by Enigma(m):
Candour: It's sad seeing people being led astray and you can't do anything about it.i was there before too but i had to tell myself the truth.the truth being that i was desperately in need of a breakthrough and then just wanting everything my eyes could see that i could have accepted from satan himself if he had showed up.i saw myself for what i was:greedy and covetous and that wasn't the new creature Jesus died for me to be.

The prosperity message can fit any mould.infact i had a muslim lecturer who told me he always attends a popular church on oregun road because the MOG is sound on business and motivational principles.

When i discovered the tithe and seed faith fraud for what they were,i got so angry that i thought of destroying these institutions in anyway i could but i realised i might also destroy the faith of fragile believers in the process. So i rather focus on getting the truth of the gospel to every one i come across rather than focus on the 'MOG's and this thread shows people are getting the truth.

God will help us.
The bolded is very sobering and is something I also had to check myself upon.

In the days gone, when the religion section was still largely more sensible (with fewer of those who have constituted themselves into a nuisance) other Christians were the ones who constantly pointed out these nonsensical things that are falsely passing themselves off for Christian doctrine or practice. That danger of destroying other people's faith was always present; now that the religion section is in its present parlous state, pointing out these false things, while still necessary, requires a careful strategic approach. And, honestly, that is one of the reasons why Goshen360 is a very valuable asset to the section.

@ Mr Anony

Many thanks. smiley

achina boy: talking about mr ivan,i think so many gone people before christ lived like ivan, but they never knew christ, and still people that dosen`t know christ still live life like ivan`s,so must you be a christian to portray all these attributes?
I understand there isn't supposed to be an argument so this isn't one but a brief explanation. Even before Jesus came to earth, God (especially God the Holy Spirit) has always been apealing and calling to men. smiley
Actually in those days, there was no separation of church and state as we have today
When evangelical atheists shout "separation of church and state", they (many of them) are oblivious of the fact that it was the vilified Christians who came up with the idea.

The sadder thing though is that with the advent of "secularism" the otherwise very good concept has been bastardised into the monstrosity that will prevent a six year old girl from making a heartfelt tribute to her grandfather.
. . . . Oh my God! You don't know what the bible is

You my friend are terribly ignorant of scripture yet you attack what you do not know. I would suggest that you go and actually study the bible so that at least you can have an informed conversation about it. And please try to rid yourself of your bigoted views of religion. Your lies today were really pathetic.
At bolded and in the context of what preceded Mr Anony's post:

1. "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me" Per Jesus Christ (John 5:29)

2. "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live" (John 11:25)

3. "And this is the Record, that God hath given to us Eternal Life, and this Life is in His Son." (1 John 5:11)

frosbel: So we should ban religion in Africa so that we are left with uneducated atheists , no ?

This is the best atheists can offer , a humanist , lol grin

I say ban religion and Africa is done !! The atheists we have are not exactly a breed who can take their place or contribute anything positive to our Continent.
And with due respect to Leo, he is a small pikin intellectually and otherwise. smiley

Oahray: ...says someone who has made no noteworthy contribution whatsoever to science grin grin grin
Sometimes you wonder if they even know the origin and original meaning of science. A thought: consider these expressions: natural science, social science, political science . . . etc

Reyginus: Enigma, are you a theist or an atheist?
Christian, ergo Theist. smiley

frosbel: Science that was underpinned by religious institutions and scholars , no ?

If it was not for these religious teachers , atheists would have discovered NIL , yes , that's true, absolute NIL.

They needed , quite frantically to be honest , the religious education to organise their thinking into more intelligent patterns of reasoning and intuition. The results weere GENUIS atheist scientsits grin
Even the person widely regarded as the founder of the "scientific method" was a Christian. Not only that he is the one who said:

'Nothing can be more justly allotted to be the saying of fools than this: "there is no God"' ----- Francis Bacon. smiley

frosbel: Appears you are overheated, when did I say they were all Christian ? Place some iceblock on your medulla oblongata to calm your nerves grin

I repeat :

Where were these schools started by our wonderful , loving and benevolent atheists ! None, yep , that's the answer, absolutely zilch.

By inference therefore, it is safe to say that 99% of scientists were either Theists or Atheists who relied heavily on Theists ( Christian ) education to enhance their learning , and formulate the methods , and develop the tools they used to achieve fame in their respective areas of expertise.
The great universities were founded as institutions of religious instruction and learning and/or by religious people.

Check out the history of Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard etc etc. smiley

This "religion" thing is really evil to be the source/inspiration of such institutions. wink

Logicboy03: lol......you had to add your spin to my comment? There is nothing wrong with my comment.

Anyways keep avoiding me. It's better for both of us, seeing that you carry some resentment for me due to some past butthurt you received courtesy of my debunking
The reason I avoid you is simply to prevent me from directing my insults to your father; like I have told you before, when you insult me, what I see is you insulting your father. smiley
When did simple referencing to another person's argument suddenly imply that one is somehow unintelligent? If it shows anything, It show that Enigma reads wide.
Bros you should read that thread where they were hailing chukwudi and then you'd see the hypocrisy in its full glory. I tried hard to avoid argumentation by quotation but because chukwudi insisted on producing quotes, a couple of them came to make digs at me ---- until I now showed them that I had more quotes than they could shake a stick at.

https://www.nairaland.com/1083381/apostle-peter-principle-inclusivity-via/2

I generally avoid getting involved with logicboy because of his rudeness and lack of manners; however, let me show one other example of hypocrisy. In one thread like that he and another poster were again insulting others and going on about "separation of church and state"; when I then explained the concept properly and showed that they were really ignorant, the fella said "I don't know why we are arguing over separation of church and state." Something that THEY brought up in the first place! smiley

https://www.nairaland.com/934799/reasons-why-obama-not-christian/13#11004083

And this is the person saying I cannot make an argument. lol smiley

Ah, and I should throw in my favourite one more time. smiley

"To insist that religion is peculiarly malignant is fanaticism, or mere stupidity." --- John Gray
Christianity EtcRe: Ban Religion For Africa To Move Forward... by Enigma(m): 11:30am On Jan 03, 2013
One more quote from John Gray. smiley

"The church of humanity is a prototypical modern example of atheism turned into a cult of collective self-worship. If this ersatz faith came to nothing, it was not because of practical difficulties. Religions are human creations. When they are consciously designed to be useful, they are normally short-lived. The ones that survive are those that have evolved to serve enduring human needs - especially the need for self-transcendence.

That is why we can be sure the world's traditional religions will be alive and well when evangelical atheism is dead and long forgotten."

cool

^^^ Talking about hypocrisy, I remember him and another poster hailing chukwudi44 (against me) for argumentation by quotation and here talking about quotation meaning not being able to argue.

Anyway, too childish/juvenile for me to bother with.
Christianity EtcRe: Ban Religion For Africa To Move Forward... by Enigma(m): 11:11am On Jan 03, 2013
One more quote from John Gray (an atheist himself by the way). smiley

"[De Botton's] spirited and refreshingly humane book aims to show that religion serves needs that an entirely secular life cannot satisfy. He will not persuade those for whom atheism is a militant creed. Such people are best left with their certainties, however childish."

"It is only the illiteracy* of the current generation of atheists that leads them to think religious practitioners must be stupid or thoughtless." ----- John Gray

*Yep: illiteracy (or at least illiteracy in the sense of intellectual and historical ignorance) - otherwise no sensible person will fail to acknowledge that the first nations to industrialise and "develop" did so at a time when religion was important in those coutries and their citizens were religious. And even to this day religion remains significant in notable respects in many such countries including the UK, America etc smiley

Redmosquito: no mind am jare. I was like "she's meant to be quoting me or the atheists not u"
In general, it is better to quote the more sensible posts. The poorly thought posts are to be quoted for very deliberate reasons --- e.g. like educating the poor thinking poster. smiley
