Non Education graduate teachers are even better off without or without PGDE...So a teacher with NCE or B.Ed or both but not certified & licenced by TRCN will no longer be allowed to practice?

With my B.Ed, I teach in a school with a gross take home of 15k. Where is d 15k to do TRCN registration & 9k every year for renewal?

Meanwhile, people saying non education graduates are better off than education graduates teachers are d real problem of d nation's education system.

Av u guys ever sit down after a chilled bottle of whatever u love & ask yourself, why was Nigeria's education much better & quality assured when only d professionally trained teachers were allowed to teach in our schools then( mostly public schools) Even with less qualifications like Grade 1, Grade 2, NCE etc & the English they spoke then was as old as d old building of d first pry sch in Nigeria.

Someone also said, Non education graduate teachers are more motivated & education graduates av no motivation because they weren't fortunate to be given admission for their preferred courses? as in.... U think they were not doing anything for d period of 4 years doing education & teaching preparation courses?

I tell you, most education graduates are so motivated to teach that they don't even want to take any better offer outside d classroom. Hence the reason even PGDE shld not be used to equate NCE or B.ed. PGDE is an inadequate short cut for with no job offer or opportunities in their original discipline & only cross to d classroom so hunger won't kill him. Tell me, those non education teachers with/out PGDE, if a jaw dropping offer springs up in their chosen field, would they reject the d offer & continue to teach?


, Finally, Education graduates are poor academically yet, your fore father got a better quality education thru them While most of you taught by the so called brilliant non education graduates teachers aren't mostly directly unemployable into your own field? Imagine dt statement may even come from one Mechanical or electronical engineer who can't fix any fault however simple on his automobile or his electrical and electronic connection in his home.

Well, to begin with how can a country equate PGDE with NCE and B.ed? It's better to av a well trained & well motivated but less brilliant teachers in our education system than a non professional but brilliant teachers in d system. Inner motivation & professional ability to handle learners are key. It's not just enough to copy d note for the students & tell d whole world u are a teacher.

If our government is really seriously concerned about d dwindling standard of education, it should flush out all those teachers parading PGDE in d education system & demand they go for at a 3 year nce or 4 years degree program in Education to become a fully professionally prepared & motivated teachers.

Anyone going about teaching with non education certificates or with PGDE is not an ideal teacher.

Can d judicial sector call a holder of Diploma in Law to Bar? can an individual pay such person to represent him in a serious case in court?

Can a person hold a diploma in Medicine & fully be regarded as a well trained medical doctor?


PGDE is far away from NCE and B. Ed.

Hope she's not on a road trip to Europe en route Mali & Libya. I learnt there's one daring trafficking ring/cabals operating in Ondo state that pack young people especially ladies in their numbers & claim they'll be taken to Europe on a road journey

Sth similar happened to me last week. I'm the type DT a loud voice during my lesson. As I was explaining a new topic, I suddenly lost my voice. I couldn't speak up for about 5 mins. None of them even think of offering me water. instead most of them were laughing like this scene. Imagine, ss3 students on top 15k salary o.

God help we d teachers. Our reward is truly in heaven.

Yea. I am having similar experience here too. In my local branch here, I am told the government said from now, no bank debtor will be eligible for TBs. I submitted my bid(sec mkt) since Monday. But I'm told they need to check with my bvn to ascertain my debt-free status as I claimed. I'm also told until d report is ready, I shld keep checking back .

The bitter truth is Patriotic Nigerians are very few. Most of us are saboteurs. God will help us in this country

I'm in my mid 30s but our story is similar. I came from a very poor family. We lived in our own house though but survival & preparing us for future was so difficult. It got worse when I lost my dad @10. In a nutshell, I conquered poverty d very hard way but I find it hard to set myself free of d poverty line thought.

After I hustled for over 10 years, I saved enough DT saw me thru d university, & d rest I lock in treasure bills. I'm so stingy even to myself. I hardly spend on myself but I often gv & lend people comfortable amount.

*I can't take any risk to engage my savings in any viable bus for d fear of losing my hard earned money

*Still living with my widow mum because my own accommodation will tell on my savings

*Perhaps, my continued singleness & bachelorhood is because I can't show some cash to attract these ladies.


Now, I'm thru with school & completed my nysc. I'm jobless. But I'm not broke. Is this d way I'll continue? I'm tired of this fear of poverty coming back...


OP, how religiously devoted are u? Don't lend to people again. Rather gv freely but reasonably. People & heaven will appreciate u more if u gv unconditionally. If u are buoyant enough, u can try treasure bills too.

See the so called brilliant o. They are like "the teacher is a disgrace" , ".. shld be placed on suspension" etc. Yet, most of them still making d same mistake d teacher made. Also there are engineers among u people DT still patronise your road side counterparts to get simple things done. Equally, there are some graduates who can't independently carry out any task in their fields without consulting Google or their colleagues.

So what make u different from d teacher?


I tell u, English is like computer system. it's open ended. U can't master it all.

That topic may sound simple, but I tell u even most English language graduates will still get one or two a/an article wrongly except he painstakingly crosscheck to confirm his usage.

How many people know words such as "ewe", "European", etc phonetically start with consonant /j/?

As in "a ewe" , a "European airline" etc.

Lagos state need to prune down the size of her work force the wage bill is just too much and infrastructural development is worse for it.

Can't even begin to rationalise why the smallest state in terms of land mass should engage a massive work force of above 100.4k when there is evidence of severe deficit in infrastructure.

Check the ratio of the workforce to d entire Lagos population, u will understand that workforce is not over bloated. So it's not a factor of land mass but more of population size.

Too me, 100, 400 public workers isn't too many for Lagos state. But they must be productive.
