Controversial Ghanaian artiste, Wanlov says he once had sex with a man. In an interview with TV host Peace Hyde, the ‘Human Being’ rapper said he did it because ‘I wanted to fulfill my sexual desires one time and a guy was the only one around and that led to me having sex with the boy.’ He also revealed he used to be involved in internet fraud but has stopped in order to have a better life in the industry. ‘I was in the game of ‘Sakawa’ [and] sometimes the thought of going back to it crosses my mind but I just don’t see the need to engage in it any more’ . Sakawa is a widespread practice in Ghana which combines modern internet based fraud practices with traditional Akan religious rituals. Source |
C’mon! Showing some side boobs doesn’t make you cray. After all, YOLO! The words, Side boob, Cray, YOLO have now become English words following the announcement made recently by Oxford Dictionaries on their website. Pundits say the latest intake is a reflection of how social media languages and slangs are affecting the English Language. Some of the words include, humblebrag which refers to a comment made by someone who boasts about an achievement in the same sentence as a self depreciating comment, adorbs, an adjective for something cute or adorable and YOLO which is an acronym for You Only Live Once. Others are listicle, bro hug, cray, hench, hot mess, mansplain, side-eye, side boob and spit-take. The new entries mentioned above have however only been added to OxfordDictionaries.com, not the Oxford English Dictionary. Source |

Five Star music singer — KCee, was among the very few Nigerian artistes who made donations at the launch of DJ Jimmy Jatt’s book ‘Avante Garde.’ KCee donated one million naira and he has explained why in a recent interview: - ‘Jimmy has been helpful and supportive to the industry and to me personally without asking for a dime, so donating to him wasn’t difficult, it was just like trying to give back to someone that has always been giving to you. On the other hand, he has helped the industry in a very big way, he has supported the industry and has given hope to a lot of Dj’s and musicians, he’s very straight forward and all through his 25 years journey, he never went down at any point, he was always on top.’ Read More Here |
In what I describe as a strange reaction, the ‘Dem Mama’ record boss — Timaya , is begging God for forgiveness for singing ‘Ukwu’. Timaya, the ‘Ukwu’ crooner has stated that everything he does when it comes to music is entirely to get himself a living and nothing more. The outspoken singer said he tries his best to give his fans the kind of music they want to listen to and watch, adding that his desire to do something his fans want is the reason his songs were banned on television and radio stations. He claims that his plan was never to do secular music for a long time because of his upbringing at the Living Gospel Mission as a chorister but he changed to the person he is right now because of what people want. The singer said he in fact started with Gospel Music, then he went into singing about envies, which he got rebuked for anyways. So he decided to try something new and that’s why he got rid of his dreadlocks. Timaya went further to say that what people don’t know is that he never for once disconnected with God, despite the fact that he now does secular songs. He added that he did the hit ‘Ukwu’ song just to make a living for himself and that he goes back to God in prayers to beg for forgiveness. However, his statement did not go down well with some fans, who think he misleads people just to make money. What do you think? http://www.informationng.com/2014/09/see-what-timaya-is-asking-god-forgiveness-for.html Source |

It can be described as long in coming but it is clear former Chocolate City artiste, Jesse Abaga a.k.a Jesse Jagz, has broken into the revolutionary lane with full force. The rapper and beat producer, whose exit from Choc City – the label his brother and cousin still call home, was done in controversial circumstances, took to Twitter on Saturday to vent his anger at the society, not sparing many by the time he was done. While hitting out at all political parties in Nigeria as boasting nothing other than ‘just a bunch of names,’ the Jagz Nation boss was in a vehement state; comparing Nigerian politicians to armed robbers, urging Nigerian youth to look at the bigger picture in a series of tweets which drew wide attention, with many of his followers retweeting and favouriting his words in quick succession. Jagz, who is MI‘s younger sibling, also took a philosophical angle to his feelings, asking his followers to check and take note of Webster’s dictionary definition of Black to understand the racism still going in the United States and other places see more of his munched tweets here

David Zinyama is a Zimbabwean-British photographer/graphic designer/writer. If you are active in the African instagram community, you may have seen his very realistic photoshop edits featuring major celebrities and well-known characters. This weekend, instagram has been buzzing with a series of letters titled “Dear Future Wife”, “Dear Future Son” and “Dear Future Daughter”. The “Dear Future Wife” letter which is in 2 parts has been particularly popular with hundreds of likes, comments and reposts. Who said romance was dead? Check on it. Part 1 How’s it lookin, good-lookin? I don’t know who you are yet. I don’t know what you look like. I don’t know the color of your eyes. I don’t know the color of your skin. I don’t know your name. There are a lot of things that I don’t know about you, but there are a couple of things that I want you to know. You’re Already Beautiful. Congratulations, babe, you did it. You are already beautiful. Seriously. If beauty is a game, you’re a pro. You are perfect already. You were beautifully and wonderfully made. You have nothing to fix. God did not mess-up on you. I know what society is telling you. ”You have to look like this, wear this, and have this in order to be beautiful.” Nope. You’re already beautiful. Beauty is more than what you put on in the morning. You don’t need to lose weight to be beautiful. You don’t need to pack on the make-up to be beautiful. You don’t need to have all the curves installed to be beautiful. You don’t need to have perfect skin to be beautiful. You don’t need to act a certain way to be beautiful. You don’t need to wear certain clothes to be beautiful and you definitely don’t need to take them off to be beautiful. You’re already beautiful. Feel free to grow to be a better, healthier, more confident you. In fact, I encourage it. But let me remind you that when it comes to being beautiful, you already won. You are beautifully and wonderfully made. Babe, keep your goodies in your basket. I get it. I really do. When you have a nice car you want to show it off. If you have a nice body, likewise, you want to show it off. But, what makes a Lamborghini stand out from a Honda Civic? I see Civics all the time. Everywhere I go there is one of those bad boys sitting in the parking lot. I can count on one hand every Lamborghini I’ve ever seen. It is always exciting to see one of those. The Honda, not so much. Don’t get me wrong, your goodies are always going to be good. I’ll say that again, your goodies are always going to be good. But, if everyone and my mum has a look at everything you’re showing off, I’m not feeling like as much of a lucky guy. So please, for me, keep your goodies packaged away. Read part 2 here + pix |
In an interview on YNaija’s RubbinMinds programme this afternoon, Banky W opened up about his relationship status, people he’s had crushes on and girls he’s never dated. Banky admitted that he had a huge on Genevieve and tried to pursue her but it didn’t work out, “I tried but Genevieve is Genevieve. I had a big crush on her at one point but now we are really cool friends” he said Banky also revealed he had a huge crush on singer Niyola when he first came back to Nigeria to pursue his music career but didn’t go after her because she was in an on/off relationship and when she became single, he’d already signed her to his record label and had assumed a big brother role in her life. The crush died he said. Asked if he is under any pressure to get married, Banky W said; “I think that there is a certain pressure that society brings and probably even more so the Nigerian society. So like your parents, once you graduate they start asking when you are going to get married so you can get me grand children…so its just the mentality but I think its probably an unhealthy obsession with weddings and probably not as great an obsession with healthy marriages and for me its like who you get married to or when you get married is one of the major decisions that you can make. So its wiser that you do it when you are sure that you are ready and you have found the person that you want to do it with and so on and so forth rather than succumb to whatever pressure or whatever it is because nobody is going to live that life with you. Nobody is going to wake up with the person for the rest of your life. So I dont believe in that and I think my parents know me well enough to not….they know I don’t respond to such things. So do I look forward to getting married? Absolutely but when the person and the time is right. I have friend who I went to school with who got married and are now divorced and I don’t want that to be my story so I would rather wait, find the person, make myself right, make the person right and so on and so forth and do it right one time rather than try and fail and be married for 72 days” he said Banky W revealed that he will be taking 2 and a half months off the music scene to pursue a course in directing/film-making in New York in September. In October 2013, at 26 years old, Beth Hebron was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a terminal neurodegenerative disease that sets off a progression of debilitating side effects: muscle weakness, paralysis and respiratory failure. There is no treatment and no cure. The average age a person develops ALS is between 40 and 70, and they are typically given two to five years to live. Hebron is one of the few young people living with the disease and her life expectancy remains undetermined. ALS has been in the news lately because of the swell of Ice Bucket Challenge videos popping up on the Internet. What began as a dare for pro-golfer Chris Kennedy turned into a national movement. Athletes, celebrities, and prominent business leaders have been dumping buckets of freezing water on their heads for ALS. It’s had an impact: Between July 29 and August 21, the ALS Association has received $41.8 million in donations, and 739,275 new donors. In the same period last year, it raised $2.1 million. The videos began as a way to raise awareness about a disease with no cure. Hebron is one of an estimated 30,000 Americans currently living with ALS. Here, she shares her story. I’ll love to appeal to Nigerian entertainers to stop the habit of going about cap in hand begging for votes each time they are nominated for awards. If your materials are good enough and the award process is transparent, I see no reason why you should go about embarrassingly soliciting for votes like a politician. No award should be given based on public opinion. There should be a “competent” panel of judges selected to review the nominated materials and advise the organisers who the winners should be. It calls to question the motives of award organisers. Same goes for the numerous music talent shows in Nigeria today. Have you ever wondered why all telecoms companies in Nigeria have a talent hunt show attached to their names? It is very simple. Television is the biggest means of communication in the country today. It reaches millions of people residing in cities, towns and villages (those who are lucky enough to have electricity). You can find a wide variety of entertainment on TV daily. From soap operas for (jobless) housewives, news for the working class to catch up on the happenings across the country after a hard day’s work, cartoons for kids and of course the talent shows for the gullible enthusiast who has been tricked to thinking he or she decides the participant’s future via the organiser’s voting system. A lot of Nigerians may never realise how much money they spend voting on these talents shows because they don’t get a monthly giant-sized telephone bill. The telecom companies have washed the public clean with detergent because it doesn’t look like the voting is going to stop anytime soon. With the amount of talents claimed to be harvested yearly, one would think that by now Nigeria should be the world’s leading exporter of talent. Every day on TV, we see a bunch of unknown individuals locked up in a house together, begging for our votes. I do agree that voting makes the masses feel like a part of any competition and it also gives them a sense of importance. But the question is; why do they bother asking us to vote when they have already employed judges to decide the winners? Isn’t it criminal requesting people to spend their hard earned money voting when it’s obvious those votes don’t determine eventual winners? And seriously, does it occur to the telecoms companies that a great percentage of the masses don’t have the required qualification for judging what a real talent is? Won’t their votes be influenced by factors such as regionalism and tribalism? And what do they have judges on the show for? They are invited and asked to judge the contestant and you still ask the public to vote for the most deserving? So these experienced, eminent personalities are defined by the public’s opinions? Why invite judges to the show when you are going to put your money making tactics to use anyway? The point of talent hunts is to search for the best. And almost always, the best get eliminated because they did not appeal to the Nigerian audience. Is it fair to manipulate audiences to increase SMS income at the cost of shattered dreams? What do we vote for? To see disappointed faces go back home because they didn’t get enough votes? To see talented individuals who have sacrificed a lot to get where they are, discouraged by the masses inability to discern what true talent is? Should the public be allowed to choose the best as opposed to a panel of fair judges with experience? We also have to consider the contestants who have worked really hard to fulfill their dreams in these reality shows hoping they will be given a fair opportunity by a group of competent judges. Since I have been watching most of these talent shows in Nigeria, there has been no indication whatsoever that public votes count or will ever count. The entire voting thing is a sham. It is only a money-making machine that makes a fool out of the unsuspecting public. SMS voting is a very lucrative method of making millions out of an ignorant public. Do the telecoms companies care who wins? Finally it is the general public that is the biggest loser. Even the participants have already amassed great fame being on TV. They have become known to the industry. And if they are talented, somebody is going to employ them. While the TV stations have already made millions out of the advertising sponsors of the show, the judges are paid huge amounts by the producers. A mediocre singer from a wealthy family with money to spend might become the winner because they have all the money to purchase recharge cards for friends and family members to vote as many times as required. What is the public’s knowledge of music? Does even 10 per cent of the voting public know one music note from another or can they even make wild guesses at saying where the participating singer goes wrong, or misses a note? The public only knows that a participant comes from ‘my area,’ she is beautiful and sexy with sumptuous lips and nice body curves. And so the most inappropriate person wins only because of the greed of the telecoms companies. A music talent hunt show is supposed to be the “music world cup”, and the decision making should be left to the umpires not the spectators. You can imagine if winners of all sporting competitions are determined by votes, China would be unstoppable. Source |

Recently, a bricklayer in Osun state named Rasheed Sulaiman was shot dead while testing the potency of a bullet-proof charm. According to a witness, Rasheed called his cousin to follow him to a secluded place to test the talisman. Then after he wore it, he gave a gun to his cousin to fire at him. The cousin fired a shot and killed him instantly. YNaija spoke with two native doctors to find out what they think about talismans and their potency based on their experience in the practice. One of them named Yemi says in vernacular, “Talismans work, but some people don’t use it in the prescribed way. It’s like using a medicine without following the instructions. “When we make a talisman for a patron, we tell them how to use it. But when the patron doesn’t follow, they don’t get the desired result.” “There is usually one or more conditions for using the charm. If you don’t observe the precaution, it would lose its potency. For example, they may be told not to drink alcohol or eat a certain food. But some people fail to observe the condition. They may have forgotten, because somehow the forbidden thing or act will continue to fall in their way. So when they break the condition, they become vulnerable. That was how one ‘strong’ man in this community was tricked and killed. The plotters learned the condition that kept his talisman effective, and they tricked him to break it unknowingly. Then they killed him.” “Also, the charm may be fake or may not be well done by the native doctor.” “Even if they are effective at first, charms don’t work forever. You have to continue to renew it or it will become ineffective in time.” Continue reading here |

Please appreciate the fact that men and women are wired differently. They have different ways of expressing and varying levels of emotional understanding. Avoid making silly mistakes by getting a few simple things right. These are some of the ten most common mistakes women make in a relationship. 1. Too many questions about the past: The fact that your man is in a relationship with you currently is proof enough that he is in love with you and has already gotten over his past relationships. While it’s good to know a little bit about his past, don’t take the liberty of digging so deep that his wounds freshen up. 2. Visiting his workplace: This is quite a sensitive issue as most men don’t like their girlfriends dropping in at their workplaces without being told. It is only if you are in a steady relationship from a long time or engaged that you can take the liberty of dropping into your man’s workplace uninformed. 3. Bringing up marriage: If you have been in a relationship for a long time, it’s but natural that you will talk about marriage and settling down at some point. You may have a conversation about this once but don’t bring up the topic again and again. You will be at a loss if your man gets irritated by the same conversation taking place repetitively. It’s not that men are averse to commitment; it’s just that they take some time in taking these important decisions. 4. Pretending to be someone: If there is anything that men hate, it is lies and hypocrisy. Many women make the blunder of pretending to be what they are not in reality. For instance, if you don’t like putting on makeup and dressing too much for a party, don’t do it just for him. He will immediately sense your discomfort. He would much rather appreciate and love your honesty and expect you to be what you are. 5. Compare financials: How would you feel if someone compared your salary figures to that of your contemporaries? Terrible, surely! Although in today’s world, women see themselves as equals to men, men still think of themselves as bread earners of the family. Treat your man with respect irrespective of his earning. Don’t ever make the mistake of comparing his financials with others. 6. Don’t attempt to mend him: Accept him with all his flaws and abilities. Don’t try and mother him to change his habits according to your needs. Give your man his space and watch how that automatically brings him to you. Continue Reading Here |
