At the StoryMoja festival held in Nairobi, Kenya last weekend, Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, was treated to a surprise in the form of a puppet built to look like him.

The festival is an annual event that brings together literary minds and help them better appreciate their art and skills through a wide array of performances, debates, master classes, film screenings, exhibitions, book launches, concerts and provocative discussions.

This year’s was attended by Soyinka, Clifton Gachagua, Teju Cole, Kwame Dawes and a host of others.

Last year, October 2013 to be precise, a battle of sorts broke out between award winning cinematographer, Sesan Ogunro and pop star, Davido. Sesan, who had had earlier been contracted to make a video for Davido’s hit song, ‘Skelewu’ fell out with the self-styled Baba Olowo when Davido rejected the video that was made for the song and things even got worse when the video got leaked online.

Since then, both parties have had to go their separate ways as Davido had to contract Sesan’s protégé, ‘Moe Musa’ to make the video for the song eventually.

However, things seems to have changed between the pair as we can reveal that Davido touched down in New York City last night after a successful concert in Berlin, Germany and today he has just shared a selfie with himself and Sesan with the caption, ‘Yo last night was a movie fam!!!!!!! @sesandirector …. Patron never again!!?’.

Recall that Davido had earlier announced that he’ll be shooting two new music videos in New York this week and Sesan Ogunro might just be the one behind the camera once again

Previously, when a woman’s nipples have appeared in a fashion ad or on Instagram, the image has been swiftly banned by the powers that be.



But according to Huffingtonpost: For the first time, full-frontal images of women will appear in public in the UK without censoring – and for a very good cause.

To coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, charity CoppaFeel! have created images shot by Rankin which show breasts in all their natural glory in order to raise awareness about the disease.

The digital posters will be displayed throughout UK shopping centres for the next six weeks and are each captioned: “When it comes to your boobs, there are hundreds of words you can use to describe them. So get coppin’ and tell us #whatnormalfeelslike for you. Knowing #whatnormalfeelslike could save your life.”

Currently, 5% of diagnosed breast cancer cases are already at stage four, with the disease being the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in women under 30 in the UK.

CoppaFeel! aims to eliminate late diagnosis of breast cancer by educating women on the symptoms. Part of this is encouraging women to recognise what their breasts look like when they’re healthy, so they are more able to recognise early changes.

Recent research by the charity showed that women aged 18-30 struggle to find words to describe their breasts beyond “big” or “small”.

The new adverts include words the bare-chested models use to describe their own boobs like “squidgy”, “doughy,” and “bobbly”.

Kris Hallenga, who founded CoppaFeel! after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the age of 23, said: “We want to make it normal for girls to talk about their boobs.

“Society and the media think of breasts in a sexual way, but by creating this campaign we want to give boobs back to women and encourage them to think, and talk about them, in terms beyond size.

“The more normal it is to talk about boobs, the more likely women are to check themselves regularly and spot any changes early.”

One Direction’s new track Fireproof has become the most downloaded free song in history – with over 1 million copies being accessed by fans.

The boy band – made up of Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik – announced on Monday that their next LP, Four, will be released on 17 November and they gave their followers just 24 hours to download album track Fireproof.

Following the news, the track – written by Louis, Liam, John Ryan, Jamie Scott and Julian Bunetta – was downloaded an astonishing 1 089 278 times.

The album – the follow-up to the boys’ third effort Midnight Memories – is number one on the iTunes Album Chart in 67 countries on pre-orders alone.

Currently, 1D are on their Where We Are world tour and their next stop will be the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California on 12 September.

Fast rising Nigerian pop star, Douglas Jack Agua, popularly known on stage as Runtown, recently met one of the hottest models and socialites in Kenya, Corazon Kwamboka.

The ‘Sweat’ hitmaker – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus – reportedly shared a derogatory message alongside a photograph of two men lying in bed together – taken from another user’s account – on his social media feeds Monday morning, September 15, but deleted them approximately 40 minutes later.

According to Buzzfeed, which captured a screen-grab of the image and the comment, the 42-year-old star wrote: ‘U n ya boyfriend since u like Jumpn on my page disrespectn b**h boy go suck ya man n get off my line f. *. G (sic).’

Included in the auction are Michael’s sister Janet‘s old bras, master recordings of Jackson 5 music that has never been released, business and court files, toys owned by Michael and his siblings and even La Toya Jackson‘s old intimacy gadgets. Peter Siegel of Gotta Have It! Collectibles – the auction house handling the sale – said: ‘Some of the items are ordinary items that could come out of any household – but when it has the provenance of being from the Jackson household, that’s history.’

In addition to the court documents from a 1987 restraining order Michael sought against a woman claiming to be the Billie Jean from his 1983 hit song of the same name, is a black tuxedo that was worn by his pet chimpanzee Bubbles. The online auction comes to an end on September 19 on the auction house’s website GottaHaveIt.com.

The bids for most items begin at $100 with the exception of the unheard Jackson 5 tapes, which have a starting price of $1,000, despite the records not being sold with copyrights to publish the songs. Siegel added: ‘This is a great way for the general public to own a piece of Jackson family history for as little as $100.

No secret that 9ice has declared his intentions to run for House of Rep in Oyo state, and now he’s taking it a step further by hitting the campaign trail in Ogbomoso, Oyo state. He visited his constituency today September 10th for awareness campaign and to identify with the electorate.

During the rally, in which he gathered a substantial crowd, 9ice promised that if he got elected to represent Ogbomoso Federal constituency 1, he will use this salary for development project in the constituency.

Since the rift between young pop stars Wizkid and Davido kicked off 2 years ago, there have been an endless series of online rants, snide remarks, and a race to outshine one another, and with several accusations and counter accusations flying around, the beef between them seems unending.

Interestingly, the last year has been a success story for both Davido and Wizkid, who have churned out several popular songs while amassing wealth, affluence and fame.

Though awards haven’t rolled in yet for Wizkid as many may have expected since the end of 2013, Davido has been basking in several wins and nominations, helping to make their rivalry the most talked about in entertainment circles and among Nigerians.

Over the years, several episodes have been recorded in their beef, with the recent and most popular being their Twitter rants.

From their Twitter rants, which sparked off a social media war, it’s alleged in some quarters that the insults used by the ‘pop gladiators’ are some of the reasons they might not end the rift anytime soon.

Words like ‘Dumb ass nigga,’ ‘Snitch’, ‘Smellos’, ‘pussy’ have been etched in the minds of Wizkid and Davido, who found the words offensive but still went ahead to use them against each other in their state of anger.

Giving a face to their rift in an interview with Sahara reporters in New York, United States of America, on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, Davido said, ‘It’s not beef at all. But I’m the type of person if I feel something, to me everything you do, you don’t hit your brother down. This is the first time I’m saying this but the only reason I was upset was because of the NY concert. I was even going to tweet like you know ‘make sure everybody turn up for my brother Wizkid’s concert’ and he threw shade like that.’

Continuing, the HKN lead act said, ‘I’m not going to take that…that’s why I went and said what I said. But it’s all cool, at the end of the day; we got to keep it on the music. Shout out to him. I’m still a big fan. It was never nothing but don’t throw shade at me…especially when we were on the flight earlier. By the way, check the numbers on my last concert. Let’s leave it like that.’

Wizkid didn’t take it cool after the interview, as he took to his Twitter handle in the early hours of Wednesday, August 6, 2014 to once again covertly hit at Davido, referring to him as dumb!

‘Dumb ass niggas catching feelings, we just trynna make it over here, nobody got time for that,’ he tweeted.

Keeping mute on the rift even when fans made enquiries on the social media, Wizkid eventually opened up to popular OAP and MC, Olisa Adibua, on the rift and why he is not in a hurry to bury the hatchet.

‘The situation is just so funny to me, because we all were on the same flight, I was only tweeting and talking about my show, I was talking about myself, you know I had a show in New York a year before that sold out, but the sound was bad, the venue we used was crazy and bleeped up,’ Wizkid began.

‘So this time I landed at the airport, drove through the venue and I saw my name in lights and I was like wow, I came down, took a picture and I posted it with the caption ‘Proper shows, proper venues’, and people started catching feelings. If I was really talking to anyone, then everyone else like Iyanya and others that have done shows in the U.S should be mad at it. When I saw it, I just smiled because I don’t have time. If you get mad at that, then it means you don’t do proper shows at proper venues. I was just promoting my show. I feel like if I’m happy about my success and you are hating on it, I don’t know if I’m to consider you as a friend or foe,’ the Star Boy boss said.

‘It won’t work out…nobody dey know where I dey now, I’m easy and cool with everyone, if you don’t come at me, I won’t come at you, if you pray for me I would pray for you, if you swear for me I go say make God punish you. The thing is let’s be honest, I have a 3 year old son, I have more important real life issues to deal with in my life, so I’m not into online beefs, I’m just trying to live my life,’ Wizzy as he’s fondly referred to stated.

The smooth relationship enjoyed by Wizkid and Davido 5 years ago, before their rivalry began is over, and only time will tell if they’ll ever get back to a place of peace and friendship.

Meanwhile, other artistes Phyno and Olamide, who seem to be enjoying an enviable friendship at the moment, have been advised to remain cautious and learn from the younger acts.

On Saturday, September 6, 2014, Wizkid released cover art and track list for his much-awaited second album - as if hoping to change the public discourse from all the Davido drama to his new body of works.
