A major highlight of the event was the auction of one of King Sunny Ade’s famous guitars masterfully painted by award-winning artist, Victor Ehikhamenor. The master-piece is a collector’s item and has been receiving anonymous bids.

However, the buyer of the guitar which was auctioned by Dr. Jogun Onabanjo, Certified Auctioneer and Chief Executive of Onabanjo & Onabanjo & Co, is yet to be revealed.

Dr. Onabanjo placed the guitar on toss from N9m (nine million Naira) and a very competitive bid followed and was closed at N52.1m. While the bid was in progress, the asking price for the guitar doubled to N17m under two minutes before exceeding the N50m benchmark in 15 minutes.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s management company have defended their star over allegations of tax evasion by releasing his staggering £191million income for last year.

The eye-watering revelation comes after Real Madrid forward was accused of avoiding tax by using offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands.

But the firm representing the former Manchester United favourite have published financial records showing the whopping income he declared in 2015.

Gestifute, run by super agent Jorge Mendes, released his ‘Model 720’ tax form online, insisting Spanish tax authorities have previously been supplied the data.

The document claims the 31-year-old Portugal international declared just €23.5m (£19.8m) of income from inside Spain — where he plies his trade with Real Madrid — and made €203.7m (£171m) elsewhere.

The Euro 2016 winner astonishing £191m he earned last year alone translates to £523,000 a day, £3.7m a week and £15.9m a month.

The form, however, did not show what taxes Ronaldo paid — although Gestifute insist Ronaldo has always cooperated with tax officials.

The gist is that Davido bought the song from veteran Nigerian dance hall artiste, General Pype. Story has it that “Gbagbe Oshi” was written and performed by General Pype two years ago during Industry Nite. The song was never officially released by General Pype.

Davido and his team connected with the dance hall artiste and bought the rights to the song. Buy price was put at about over N1 million. Same song was re-recorded by Davido with production input from Shizzi. “Gbagbe Oshi” has Davido attempting to speak in patois for a few seconds into the song.

In 2014, at weekly concert Industry Nite, on a cold Wednesday night at Spice Route Lounge, Victoria Island Lagos, the industry gathered as usual to celebrate one their most distinguished sons.

The weekly concert and networking event which is organized by El Carnaval, a company founded and owned by industry strong man and entrepreneur, Matthew Ohio, runs on a specific format; a star is chosen to be the highlight of the night, and then opening acts and friends come to perform for everyone on record.

General Pype was one of the supporting artistes on one of those nights. He stepped on stage, and performed a very rousing unreleased single. Featuring muscular beats and an Afrobeat insert, the dancehall act moved the crowd, and pushed everyone to the edge with the quality of the performance and composition.

But that song was never officially released. Pype who was once the toast of the Nigerian market, and had his song ‘Keeping it cool’ was featured in Season 6 of American TV series, The Shield, is currently not at the top of the industry.

That was the last we heard of Gbagbe Oshi until it showed up in 2016, being performed by Sony Music new boy, Davido.

2016 has seen the HKN star sign up to Sony Music in January, but delayed in dropping new music until September. ‘Gbagbe Oshi’ which was released was met with polarized opinions. While many fans accepted the single as new material from their idol Davido, a growing amount of professional critcis and outspoken analysts were not enamored by the patois on the song.

According to popular opinion, Davido failed at working a patois angle for the single, and will be better off if he stuck to everything that is not patois.

But listening to the General Pype’s version will answer the questions on patois. Pype is a seasoned dancehall artiste who delivers his lyrics in patois. The song ‘Gbagbe Oshi’, was produced by Shizzi, who is a Davido collaborator.

Sources have revealed to Pulse that after the production by Shizzi, Davido and his team fell in love with the final version of the song, and paid over a million Naira to Pype to get the song off him. Pype took his money and handed the song over to Davido. To release the song, Davido recorded the entire thing in own voice, choosing to use General Pype’s lyrics and only adding some background vocals and adlibs to create the final work.

According to Alé de Basse­ville, the photographer who took the naked pictures, Melanie was very comfortable when the pictures were taken.

Man Utd’s 2016-17 Premier League Fixtures In Full

New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will face a trip to Bournemouth for his first competitive clash in charge of the Red Devils on August 13.

That is followed by games against Southampton and Hull City before his rivalry with Pep Guardiola will be reignited at Old Trafford on September 10 as Manchester City visit the Theatre of Dreams.

The reverse fixture takes place on February 25 while Mourinho will return to former club Chelsea on October 22.

To the younger generation, it might prove difficult to fully grasp the impact OJB had in the late 90’s and early 00’s. 1) 2face Idibia– 2Face was already a known star as a member of the 90’s/00’s R and B group The Plantashun Boyz. 2Face’s star power in the group was so great that everyone knew it was a matter of time before he went solo. In 2004, 2face struck out and went solo.

He sought the production prowess of OJB Jezreel who was the hottest music producer in the country at the time for his highly anticipated debut album. For months they slaved on songs that would end up on 2Face’s instant classic solo debut album Face 2 Face. The album catapulted 2Face into superstardom. In 2007, 2Face hooked up with OJB Jezreel again. The huge success of his sophomore Grass 2 Grace proved that you never change a winning formula. 2Face’s first two albums are widely regarded as his best LPs in his rich discography.

2) D’Banj – Most people think Dapo Oyebanjo’s music career started when he met JJC Skillz in London. D’Banj’s entrance into the music game goes a bit farther than that. In 2002, D’Banj recorded his first song ‘Kiss Me Again’ featuring Rugged Man. The song was produced by Jigga (OJB’s alias).

The song wasn’t a hit but it got a few spins on local radio. Buoyed by the little positive response the song got, D’Banj moved to the UK to pursue his dreams. He came back 2 years later with an unknown producer who would take over from OJB Jezreel. His name is Don Jazzy.

3) Wizkid – If a biopic of Wizkid’s music life comes out, the flick would most likely start with him as a young thin boy watching stars troop in and out of OJB’s famed Silver Point studios.

Years before Wizkid scored his first hit with DJ Klem in the Knight House studio; he was a studio rat in OJB’s studio.

Wizkid who was barely in his teens was itching to record songs with OJB as his producer. Most times OJB told him to wait and watch. Wizkid’s recalls that while he was sitting in the studio waiting for his turn he learnt a lot of valuable lessons watching the likes of 2Face and Rugged Man record. It is most likely that Wizkid never released any of his OJB produced songs but the experience he gained chilling in the studio must have helped him become the star boy he is today.

4) Rugged Man – Rugged Man had been lurking in the underground scene for years. Tired of the mainstream rap music he heard on radio courtesy of Eedris Abdulkareem and Rasqie he went to OJB’s Silver Point Studios to record the classic ‘Ehen’ diss track featuring Nomoreloss. The song spread like wild fire and galvanized the underground rap community.

Rugged Man wasn’t through with the diss tracks. ‘Peace or War’ and ‘Big Bros’ completed his diss trilogy aimed at wack rappers, their fans and record labels that pushed them. Thanks to OJB’s production, Rugged Man became the new champion of rap music in Nigeria. He released his debut album 2 years after ‘Ehen’- 2004. Thy Album Come featured production from OJB and other Silver Point associate producers. Thy Album Come is perceived as one of the most influential rap LPs in Nigerian rap history.

5) Durella – By 2008, D’Banj who started his career with OJB Jezreel had become a superstar. An unknown act named Durella whose style was similar to D’Banj’s knocked on OJB’s door in search of a hit.

OJB Jezreel blessed him with ‘Wiskolo Wiska’ a hard hitting club track. The song became so popular that people thought it was D’Banj who sang the song. Thanks to OJB’s production Durella had made a name for himself. Durella’s career has had more downs than up but a hit like ‘Wiskolo Wiska’ is a sparkling gem in his scattered discography.

The Skales saga is sorted out. The accusations which started a year ago, and reached its height last week when Skales and his manager were taken to the Police station has been resolved. The duo who have been accused of defrauding Baseline Music have been split, with Skales remaining with the label which he has contract obligations. His manager, Osagie Osarenkhoe, has been parted from him, and he is currently signed up with another agency, Upfront and Personal, who would manage his bookings.
Skales’ relationship with Osagie Osarenkhoe stretches many years. The pair have always been together with Osagie who has a long history in the music scene. The pair met in 2009, with Skales ‘begging’ her to sign him.

“I met Osagie in 2009. I used to go to KnightHouse Studio back then when I wanted to record my first single. She saw me rapping and asked me to give her my number. We started talking, she hooked me up with stuff and helped out but she wasn’t managing me, so I begged her to manage me but she was busy with Kel and Wizkid at the time” Skales told online publication NET.

“I think I went to perform somewhere else again then, Banky W, Segun Demuren, saw me and they were like ‘Who is this dude, we just keep seeing him, who is he with?’ They became interested and began making enquiries about me, I went to another show where Banky performed, I killed it but nobody knew who I was, they don’t even know my name. It was only Wizkid who knew me because we met at KnightHouse. Wizzy started talking with me and we became cool friends.

“One day I got a text from Wizzy, it read, ‘EME wants to sign you’. I asked him if it was a joke but he said ‘for real’ that I should hit up Osagie. I hit up Osagie and we started working together. It took us like almost six months to negotiate because I was scared, I don’t believe in depending on anybody, I do things myself.”

Osagie engineered the process of getting Skales signed to Banky W’s Empire Mate entertainment, a move which brought Skales into mainstream music. She has been his manager, sticking with him all through his days at the record label, supervising his switch from a rapper and singer, to a pop singer who has turned his back on his Hip-hop origins. When Skales was dropped by EME in 2014, and had no where to call home, Osagie stuck with him, providing guidance and professional aid, until ‘Shake body’ came through, and Baseline with it.

Baseline Music and Osagie don’t have a working relationship anymore. The lady who also manages another Baseline artiste, Aramide, along with others Ketchup, Attitude, GGB Dancers, and others, have been made to sign an undertaking which bars her from continuing her work in the careers of her artistes.

“‘I was made to sign an undertaking that I no longer represent Skales and to refund $2,500 part payment received for a recent booking, which has been made. I hope it all passes and we can all move on with our individual lives. I wish Skales nothing but the best’, she further said.

The allegations of fraud were placed on Osagie’s footstep. Being the business manager of the talents, she oversees all bookings, engagements and the finances of Skales, and so would be the first call for blame. She admits that although she appropriated funds, they were all put into the career of Skales.
‘For the avoidance of all doubts, I didn’t steal from Baseline. There has never been, and will never be any basis to conclude that I have been dubious or fraudulent in my dealings with the label. What we have done is to keep our work and lives going on, following inaction from them. Everything I have done, from allowing him sign with the label to date was always in Skales’ interest at the end of the day not for my personal gains,” she told NET.

There’s truth in what she has said. Baseline Music has been a house in disarray over the past year. The label owned by owned by billionaire Kessington Adebutu’s son Segun, fired her managers, Howie T and Dipo Abdul, and with them went the relevant structures and communication systems, and operational know-how. What remained was a house which got very minimum attention, and left their artistes in the wilderness. Saeon, their first signed artiste walked away after being starved of support and artistic freedom. Aramide’s affiliation with the brand became shaky. Even her latest video for ‘Love me’ lacked the label’s logo.

But with this move, not only have they wrongly maligned Osagie’s image, they have also found a way to wrest Skales from her grasp. The singer has an existing contract with them, he cannot seek a termination being that he does not have N5 billion to part with. He has to see out his deal, and move on with his career. Osagie, his long-time friend and partner will no longer be with him.





Skales has currently signed to Paul Okoye’s Upfront and Personal Agency, a house that will handle his bookings and many other. The structure around him has changed, so also has his team. He has a career to pursue, a contract to fulfill, and a continent to conquer. He is still young, at 25 years old, and hopefully, his best days are still ahead of him, in a career that has seen his release only one album, and signed to two record labels. Banky W, his former boss, has refused to wade into the affair. It’s none of his business. Officially.

In this case, there are no winners, losers, victors and the vanquished. All that has happened has been just a big misunderstanding, brought about by a resurgent label. Let’s all move forward. This case is closed, and the Skales have fallen from Osagie’s guiding hand.

Microsoft said Monday it was buying the professional social network LinkedIn for $26.2 billion in cash, a move that helps refocus the US tech giant around cloud computing and services.

With its biggest-ever acquisition and one of the largest in the tech sector, Microsoft takes a big step into the world of social networking and adds a new tool for its efforts to boost services for business.

“This deal brings together the world’s leading professional cloud with the world’s leading professional network,” Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella said in a statement.

“It’s clear to me that the LinkedIn team has grown a fantastic business and an impressive network of more than 433 million professionals.”

According to a statement from the two firms, LinkedIn “will retain its distinct brand, culture and independence,” with Jeff Weiner remaining at CEO of LinkedIn.

“Just as we have changed the way the world connects to opportunity, this relationship with Microsoft, and the combination of their cloud and LinkedIn’s network, now gives us a chance to also change the way the world works,” Weiner said.

The two firms said they had reached a “definitive” agreement that would close later this year, with the support of LinkedIn chairman and controlling shareholder Reid Hoffman.

The move comes with Microsoft moving away from being a pure software firm, and LinkedIn seeking ways to boost growth.

LinkedIn, which enables members to connect with similar-minded professionals and facilitates recruiting and job hunting, has carved out a social network with a distinct identity.

But LinkedIn in the past quarter reported a loss of $46 million and a $166 million loss for 2015, which let its shares at multiyear lows early this year.

Nadella, in an email to staff, said the deal reflects Microsoft’s new focus on the enterprise and cloud.

“We are in pursuit of a common mission centered on empowering people and organizations,” he said.

He added that the deal “is key to our bold ambition to reinvent productivity and business processes. Think about it: How people find jobs, build skills, sell, market and get work done and ultimately find success requires a connected professional world.”

LinkedIn, which calls itself “the world’s largest and most valuable professional network,” has been seeking to expand its offerings with more messaging, mobile applications and revamped its “newsfeed” to help boost engagement.

“Today is a re-founding moment for LinkedIn,” Hoffman said in the statement.

“I see incredible opportunity for our members and customers and look forward to supporting this new and combined business.”

Microsoft said it would finance the deal mostly by issuing new debt.

– Clever, or too late? –

Benedict Evans, a member of the Andreessen Horowitz venture capital firm who blogs on technology, said in a tweet that deal appear to be future-looking.

“Very clever and oblique MSFT thinking — how will we communicate, share & connect in a decade? Not docs + email. Social graph is key,” Evans said in a Tweeted referencing the company’s Wall Street trading symbol.

But Roger Kay, analyst and consultant with Endpoint Technologies Associates, said it was doubtful that Microsoft can use the deal to compete in the world of social networking dominated by Facebook.

“It doesn’t help at all competing with Facebook,” Kay told AFP.

“LinkedIn is not in the same league as Facebook.”

Kay said Microsoft, paying a premium of some 50 percent for LinkedIn, is likely to end up writing down much of the investment.

“It seems extraordinarily expensive,” he said.

“I’m going to make the prediction they will write this down. There is no way they can extract $26 billion from LinkedIn.”

There comes a time when people part ways. For some, the separation is peaceful while for others it is turbulent. The impending separation between a leading musical video director, Moe Musa and singer, JJC falls into the former category.

Musa who has shot several videos, used to live in the same building with JJC who is said to be dating leading actress, Funke Akindele. Musa lived in the Boys Quarters’ of the house. Since the romance between Funke and JJC started, Sunday Scoop learnt that JJC,who is well entrenched in the entertainment industry has not been very comfortable with Musa’s presence as it might breach the privacy of the lovers. Therefore, Musa had to secure a better apartment in the highbrow Lekki area to give the couple enough space. He said this development has not caused a rift between him and JJC whom he described as a brother.

Responding to our telephone enquiries, the cinematographer said his moving out was his choice.

‘If I move out, it’s because I want to move out; I am a man. Everybody has the right to move out when they want to. JJC is my family, he is my brother. If you are with your brother and he is in a relationship, are you not going to move?”



He also denied that he is in a relationship with Chocolate City’s Victoria Kimani. “No I am not dating her,” he said.

The popular comic actor’s teenage daughter, Sammyhat Pamilerin tied the knot with her twenty something year old fiance, Ahmed Babatunde Oladele a.k.a Danku Malaysia at Ikeja, Lagos amid friends and family members.
Sources close to the family allege that the bride is already with child and that explains the speedy wedding ceremony.
Other actors present at the wedding include Idowu Philips a.k.a Mama Rainbow, Kayode Olasehinde otherwise known as Pa James, Mutiu Adeoye and Abiodun Oropo.

The Premier League side had long since beaten off interest from Barcelona and Juventus for the 25-year-old, and have now agreed a transfer fee and wrapped up personal terms
Manchester City have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan on a four-year deal..

Goal reported in March that City had stolen a march on Barcelona and Juventus in the race to sign the Germany international. City will pay around £20 million plus add-ons for the 25-year-old.

Gundogan dislocated his kneecap earlier in May, prompting doubts City would follow through on their long-term interest but the Premier League outfit took the decision to sign the midfielder regardless.

As reported by Goal on Sunday, a deal was struck with Dortmund after months of wrangling over a fee and the Germany international becomes the first signing of the Pep Guardiola era at the Etihad Stadium.

“I’m thrilled to have signed for Manchester City,” he told City’s official website. “When I learned of City’s interest my heart was set on coming here and things have moved very quickly.

“I have loved my time with Borussia Dortmund and I would like to thank the club and the supporters for the five very happy years I spent there.

“They gave me a platform to play on and I became a better player because of the belief, patience and trust they showed in me.

“Now I have a new challenge and that is to achieve great things with City. The opportunity to work with a coach like Pep Guardiola is something I am really looking forward to and I am flattered to be the first signing the Club has made this summer.

“I can promise the City fans I will give everything to help us win titles both in England and the Champions League. These are exciting times.

“I have my best years ahead of me and I think we can achieve great things together. I can’t wait to begin this new chapter in my career.”
Gundogan even had a bit of fun with his Twitter followers and City fans in the moments leading up to the announcement, with the midfielder urging the club to ‘Announce Gundogan!’ via his social media feed.

City had identified Gundogan as a key summer transfer target, alongside the likes of Athletic defender Aymeric Laporte and Everton’s John Stones.

Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos and Juventus’ Paul Pogba also featured heavily as City sporting director Txiki Begiristain started to prepare for the arrival of his former team-mate and colleague Guardiola.

They have acted quickly to sign up Gundogan, who will miss Germany’s Euro 2016 campaign and City’s pre-season with the knee injury sustained this month.
