I really salute your business courage with your hire purchase venture. Not trying to discourage you or anything (or spoiling opportunity for anyone trying to take your HP cars) but just adding a little side tip about it, if you permit. From my experience with transportation, in many cases HP deals usually start well but usually never end well. So thread carefully with this type of investment, so you don’t lose money and/or cars. Good luck!

Both HP and rental usually start well, but always end badly.

In rental you will even thread more carefully, to succeed.

HP is an advantage to the drivers, a real hardworking driver, with less responsibility will easily succeed.

I still believe 3.2M is high. Also considering that a Camry is not one of the most ideal cars for the job.

By d way, I don't drive and I did not call him...

But ultimately it's a free market, everyone is free to quote a price. Demand and supply will take care of the rest.

I have seen a lot of drivers using camry and pay their rent comfortably.

From what you have just said, it's not because the price is not good, but not the best car for Uber, so therefore price must reduce.

I have seen people take corolla same year for 4M, 3.8M.

My dear don't mind them jare.

Car cost me 1.6m. Spent 40k on registration, about 60k on comprehensive insurance, 30k on car tracker changed brake pads and oil change for another 15k

Total spent so far is 1.750k. 80% return on an approximately 2 year investment brings it to about 3.2m

Tell me how my offer is not a fair deal.

Unfortunately most drivers don't have upfront but some do. I'll definitely find the right person in a couple of weeks just like I did for the first 2 cars before this one.

I think your price is fair, those ones crying price too much, don't have a penny to pay as upfront, don't be surprise they are one of the driver's that might have called u, pleading u give then the car without upfront deposit.

It might be available till Jesus come sir...2004 Camry, 3.2m on HP is on the high side....

So how much should he value tokunbo 2004 camry?

The reason it might be available, is the 250k upfront payment. Most drivers don't have money.

So by your opinion... there's nothing to check in the engine.

One of my corolla has a check engine light on, since 2014.

I put it in Uber for over 1year, it consume 3000naira fuel daily. Saturday/Sunday it consume less fuel.

It has never been down, only changing of oil

No shortage of oil, everything works perfect.

So if any English speaking mechanic advise me, I won't listen, because if anything wrong, engine should be smoking by now, or half dead.

So therefore, my car is in perfect condition, not just perfect over perfect they worry am.

Read and be wise.

http://www.repcoservice.com/news/is-oil-sludge-killing-your-car

There's no point replacing an engine every year or 2.

Steady average incomes (resulting from quality vehicle care) are better than high inflow (ignoring standard maintenance)

Im not arguing about sludge, I'm just supporting the lady.

I was once told by English speaking mechanic, that the check engine light will kill my engine, that was in 2014, but we are in 2018, my car still up and running, no sign of slowing down.

My mechanic is typical ibadan man, I have been using him, and my cars are fine.

Sir ,I don't remember saying my car has sludge in the first place ,but even if,its no biggy as far as my car is up and running .

No biggy in sludge ma'am? Being common doesn't make it normal.

That's the point, up & running. If one continue to follow all these English speaking mechanics, all your weekly rental money, will be remitted to them indirectly.

You said it all...you brought them from your village...not all drivers are from the village, most are graduates, some are even masters holder....

Are they not human being like you.

Are you saying there should be different rental rate for village people and graduates.

If you are a graduate, and you find yourself driving Uber, put your paper aside, and focus on surviving, investors don't care if you are a graduate, if driving Uber is what you have to do to survive, do it and stop complaining.

There are plenty of graduates with no work.

I will consider a hard working driver with primary 6 certificate, that will give me my weekly rental, with no stories, than graduate driver, that will give you stories.

Start looking for a better business to invest in. With d way things are going, this business go soon cast. A time is coming only people that own and drive their cars will survive in dis business. I think Govt needs to come in by regulating d fares. The fares are just too ridiculous, u need luck to make money these days. It shouldn’t be so

Drivers are still making good money. Business is better than ever.

I brought many guys from my hometown to Lagos to drive with Uber, they were into transport in the village, today they are very happy, they can't believe their eyes.

They were like me with good phone, car with Ac, then good weekly pay, Godbless you sis with this wonderful opportunity.

More drivers are begging me to come to Lagos.

U ain’t on d road. U can’t understand. May God give u drivers that will give 40k. Drive uber without boost or surge and tell me how far.

All my drivers are meeting up 40k weekly rental. no complain. Provided the car is corolla or car with less fuel consumption. No stories.

Uber/taxify will continue to grow, remember when fuel price reduced, many people pull their cars, saying is no longer lucrative. Then come the price reduction, many also pull, but today we have plenty of investors to compare b4 and they are all making money.

More drivers are joining, more and more riders are now using Uber/"taxify.

There is room for everybody to succeed, only lazy folks complain, while others keep making money.

I hope these will encourage lazy drivers. Especially those that are shouting too many cars, I only got one request after 90 hours etc

Sir,

The complain of not getting any request, is a way driver want to use in negotiating lower rental fee.

And once you go against their opinion, they come after you.

My name is Henry. I have a Toyota Corolla 2010 model. My driver is giving me tough time and had to take the car from him. I gave him the car for 3.5m higher purchase. He still come to me for money for repairs. He gives me excuses every week for the 35k weekly he is meant to balance me. Now, he came to me yesterday and told me that someone broke his front windscreen. And that I should give him money to go repair it. That sounds crazy. I have other cars and the drivers take care of the expenses themselves. But this guy comes up with excuses every time. He even told me yesterday that I should buy a new engine in the car for him. The car is currently jerking coupled with some other things. I had to collect the car from him yesterday and told him never to come back for it again. I will buy the glass myself and repair the car and give it to another driver. I usually don't want problems and now looking for a good driver without stories. Please drop your number so I can contact you if you are interested.
He only drove the car for 3 weeks before all these started happening. And I didn't have any agreement with him. He had the car on a platter so he decided to misuse it. He didn't even balance me for this week. I am a young guy and if you interested in higher purchase of 3.5m, plus 35k weekly balance for the Toyota Corolla 2010, you can drop your number and will call you.

Thank You

With ur narrative, it seems ur car is not in a good condition, when u hand it over.

Driver is afraid ur engine might pack up, in less than a year or 6months, making him to be in the loosing side, if anything happens to the engine.

Most drivers are looking 4 hire purchase opportunities, unfortunately, most owners offering hire purchase deal always bring dead cars..

Owners with good cars always want rentals.

GAZZUZZ did that for me on sunday. Ome of my drivers had issues nd d driver was complaining bitterly, i had to call GAZZUZZ, i explained everytin to him nd his advice paid off immediately, i even called him im d nite. Sometimes all dis knowledge needs to be paid for. We didnt go to sch nd den come to lagos to count bridges na.

Whatever GAZZUZZ want to charge for talking to clients on the phone is not my problem.

I only gave advise that work for me regarding air condition.

I have once called GAZZUZZ regarding a problem, all he told me is 10k diagnosis, I declined and check with the other mechanic, and that work for me, and much cheaper to compare what he is charging.

was it serviced by a parrot?

Was it inspected before purchase by a parrot?

vehicle selection is a job on its own.

FLEET XPERTZ once paid me to diagnose a vehicle before they accepted it, car was looking Sharp and engine sounded nice. In my report I stated that engine was bad and driver should not be driven above 100km/hr.

Next day engine knocked.

there is nothing spiritual about selecting a sound vehicle, it is a skill.

Honestly, I like ur aggressive marketing, any vehicle that doesn't go to ur workshop will be faulty.

All the GIG motors and Chisco transport, all their vehicles are dead because not handle by GAZZUZZ.

You claim my corolla not in perfect condition, because I refuse to waste money on ur advice, yet my corolla is on the road 24/7.

The only thing I advise u is, if people ask u simple question, answer them first, b4 telling them ur 10k diagnosis fee.

I know me revealing the prices I get my parts will be affecting most mechanics, but owners need to be aware, I was once mechanic victim of extortion.
