“I’m Traumatized, I Printed My Result From JAMB Portal”— Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma Speaks Up
Ejikeme Mmesoma Speaks up after the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) claimed she had inflated her result and announced herself as the top scorer for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Below is the press statement by Hon. Augustine Onyekachukwu Ike KSJI, Member Representing Nnewi North Constituency, Anambra State House of Assembly.
“I STRONGLY CONDEMN JAMB REGISTRAR; PROF. ISHAQ OLOYEDE FOR BLAMING THE VIBRANT EJIKEME JOY MMESOMA OVER VARIATIONS IN JAMB SCORES Jamb.ng
1. My attention was drawn to the media trial of my constituent; Ejikeme, Joy Mmeso championed by Jamb Registrar PROF. OLOYEDE, whom accused her directly of faking result to win scholarship.
2. On this day Monday, 3rd July, I decided to visit her school and was further directed to her house. After listening to this intelligent young chap, I wept over the psychological trauma the incompetence of our system is about to push the young girl into,
3. Evidences before me showed that the young MMESOMA has been consistent in leading her class from Nursery school till date.
4. It's more embarrassing that even under investigation her QR code keeps producing varying scores and names. Thus, this brings to question even the official result announced by Jamb following the obvious irregularities. Presently, I tried using the short code with her number to access her result for an hour, the effort proved abortive.
5. While it's very unlikely that the people announced by JAMB REGISTRAR can do better than Ejikeme, Joy Mmesoma, if placed under the same examination condition, I strongly insist that the Jamb Registrar retracts his damaging press conference on my constituent pending conclusion of the investigation by the Police.
NB. Listen to the young Ejikeme, Joy Mmesoma in the attached video.

Nigeria's former vice-president and presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has said that the Nigeria's Democracy is in bondage, IGBERETV reports.
Atiku who urged Nigerians to make efforts to rescue the Nation's Democracy also congratulated Nigerians as the country marks Democracy Day today June 12.
Atiku Abubakar wrote on his Twitter handle;
"On this occasion of Democracy Day, it is time for us to reflect as a people and a country on our journey to becoming a democratic society.
For Nigerians who were around during the dark days of military dictatorships, it is important that we appreciate the successes that we have achieved in making democracy the norm of politics in Nigeria.
But democracy without a corresponding commitment to the principles of fairness and fidelity to the rule of play by stakeholders in conducting elections still leaves the people prostrate to dictatorship tendencies.
For our democracy to be fully fledged, it must constantly evolve away from the current practice where the governing elite determines the outcome of elections.
When I often take stock of the activism that birthed the current democratic dispensation, I am even more convinced that much work still lies ahead.
Democracy and the process of democratisation are a constant work in progress. While what we celebrate today is a return to civil rule in Nigeria, the desire to make our democracy self-sustaining and independent of anti-democratic elements is the new frontier of participation by all democrats.
As it requires collective energy and commitment to attain civil rule, it will require a concomitant commitment to advance the cause of democracy and our democratisation process.
The challenge ahead of us and the future of our democracy will rely heavily on what we do or fail to do today.
To achieve this noble goal, our commitment to the cause of democracy must be eternal.
Folks on the other side, enemies of democracy, whom we are up against, are not resting. To defeat them, we must do more!
As I congratulate Nigerians on this day, in celebration of the return to civil rule, I also call our consciousness to the reality that democracy in Nigeria remains in bondage, and it will need the energy of all of us to rescue it. -AA #DemocracyDay"
Democracy Day: Nigerian Politicians Unable To Exploit Gains Of June 12 – Ibrahim Babangida
...politicians have blatantly ignored that beauty of June 12 election - Babangida
Ibrahim Babangida, a former military Head of State, has stated that Nigerian politicians have failed to exploit the gains of June 12 election, IGBERETV reports.
In a statement released by his media aide, Kassim Afegbua, on Sunday, June 11, Babangida said;
“The gains of June 12, 1993 presidential election have not been exploited by political leaders in succeeding elections in Nigeria,” he said.
“It was adjudged the freest and fairest election in Nigeria, yet politicians have blatantly ignored that beauty; the beauty of credible elections.
“Remember, it was an election Nigerians came out en mass to choose their leaders, irrespective of their cultural/traditional and religious affiliations.
“There is thuggery in politics in Nigeria, too many litigations in Nigeria, too many issues that transparent elections ought to have addressed,” he said.
“June 12 should naturally encourage more voters to endorse democracy and election, but the turnout during our election is gradually declining,” he added.
“Right now there is voter apathy, that’s the more reason why something must be done to ensure mass participation in elections.”
Babangida says progress has been made with recent electoral reforms, but it is still a work in progress
“It is a learning curve and a work in progress. Our leaders must continue to invest their time, energy, and resources to deepen democracy and sustain democratic ideals,” he said.
The presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi has felicitated with Nigerians as the country marks Democracy Day today June 12, IGBERETV reports.
He wrote on his Twitter handle;
"June 12 is marked in our dear country as Democracy Day . It is a historic day that deserves to be celebrated. On that day in 1993, we the people of Nigeria stated our unreserved preference for true democracy. Though under military rule, we freely chose a transparent voting method. Our votes reflected our true choice as a people. Our choice on that day defied divisions of ethnicity, religion and region. It is these qualities that added up to make June 12 special in our search for true democracy.
"Our collective choice of late Chief M. K.O AbIola as a worthy leader for nation was saluted by Nigerians and governments and peoples across the world. Therefore, June 12 underpins our long collective journey to nationhood as a true democracy.
"However, the current state of our politics tells a different story . Our democracy is deeply troubled while our nation’s destiny remains uncertain and precarious. We remain a nation in search of solutions to too many basic problems.
"One of these is the search for a credible electoral system that would command the trust, confidence and belief of ALL Nigerians just like June 12 did. We should, therefore, use the commemoration of June 12 as an occasion to return to the true virtues of a truly democratic nation. We achieved that feat on June 12, 1993. In the spirit of June 12, therefore, we need to emplace an electoral system that commands the trust of the people. This is in recognition of the tenets and core values of democracy, which rests on respect for the wishes of the people as expressed in their ballots. Above all, government must respect and protect the institutions of the democratic state by respecting the social contract with the people by meeting their needs, obeying their wishes and fulfilling the responsibilities of responsible governance as contained in the constitution. A cardinal responsibility of government in this regard is respect for the rule off law.
"Regrettably, we are now in an era where these foundational pillars of democracy are undermined by prevalent impunity and pervasive violence and bloodletting. The trust deficit between the leaders and Nigerians continues to expand.
"The deficits of trust and efficiency in our last elections demonstrate this malady quite boldly. The challenge of June 12 and a dedicated Democracy Day is to inspire us to correct the errors of our recent elections.
"This is the surest way to restore the confidence of our people in the future of our nation and the promise of true democracy. I however urge us all not to lose faith in the inbuilt design of our democratic system to self-correct.
"Personally, I remain committed and convinced that a New Nigeria is POssible. Our aspiration for a nation of equity, justice, security and peace can hardly be utopia. We are a nation blessed richly with human and natural resources.
"What we lack, are selfless leaders who are committed to national interest, sustainable development and innovative thinking that offers every Nigerian irrespective of ethnicity, religion or social strata, the freedom of choice of abode, and protection lives, property and ordered liberties. These aspirations are real and achievable; and I hereby reiterate my promise to Nigerians that we will not relent in our fight to bring about a leadership that will accord them the priority they deserve.
"Let me, therefore, on behalf of Labour Party (LP) and the Obidient Movement across the globe wish all Nigerians a happy democracy day. -PO"
Peter Obi Mobbed Amid Loud Ovation At Lekki Catholic Church (Photos, Video)
Earlier today, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi was a guest at the Young Catholic Professionals Day Celebration at The Catholic Church Of Divine Mercy, Lekki, Lagos.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has disowned the factional leader of the Labour party, Lamidi Apapa following his clash with officials of the other faction of the Labour party at the Presidential Election Tribunal, IGBERETV reports.
In a statement released by Chris Uyoh, Secretary of NLC Political Commission, the labour union condemned the action of Lamidi at the Presidential Election Tribunal on Wednesday, May 17, describing it as shameful. The union stated that it was unfortunate that Apapa, was ascribing to himself “a vague status as the Chairman of the Labour Party.”
“The conduct of Mr. Lamidi Apapa at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal today, 17th May 2023, has once again brought to the fore the desperation of certain elements in the political class to deploy all manner of subterfuge and criminality to divide and despoil the massive goodwill currently being enjoyed by the Labour Party all over Nigeria.
It is very unfortunate that Mr. Lamidi Apapa who continues to act lawlessly as an impostor ascribing to himself a vague status as the Chairman of the Labour Party and on the claims of representing the Nigeria Labour Congress, is clearly receiving protection from institutions of the state whose mandate is the preservation of law and order” he said.
Uyoh said the Labour Party which was founded by the NLC more than three decades ago, confers institutional membership on the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
“Institutional representation of organised labour in the leadership of the Labour Party is at the behest of nomination by the leadership of the national labour centers, or from the affiliate unions or state councils of the NLC and TUC. As at today, the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Oyo State Council of the NLC which Mr. Apapa Lamidi claims affiliation to has completely disclaimed giving Mr. Lamidi Apapa any mandate to act on their behalf in the Labour Party in any capacity whatsoever thus disowning him.
The national leadership of the Congress then wonders who Mr. Lamidi Apapa is representing in the Labour Party” he said.
While describing the action of Lamidi Apapa as dubious, the NLC said Apapa and his cohorts are being used by interested political actors in Nigeria whose abiding wish is the death of the Labour Party.
“It is clear that Mr. Lamidi Apapa is a meddlesome interloper who is being used by reactionary forces to deny Nigerians the benefit of an alternative political thought and organisation geared towards genuine national redemption and transformation. The NLC Political Commission wishes to reiterate its earlier statement disowning the so-called factional leadership of the Labour Party led by Mr. Lamidi Apapa.
Any attempt to allow Mr. Lamidi Apapa to foist the show of shame he and his minions exhibited today at the sitting of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal would be strongly resisted by organised Labour.
"We urge the Nigerian workers and people to retain its faith in our judiciary as the bastion of justice and the final refuge of the oppressed. We also call on all progressive Nigerians to remain vigilant as the court case by the Labour Party is considered by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
"Organised Labour as the custodian of the ideology and values of the Labour Party of Nigeria will not sit back and watch conmen take advantage of our name and goodwill to sell the Labour Party to the highest bidder.”

Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi has condemned the killing of US embassy officials in Anambra State, IGBERETV reports.
According to report, two United States embassy officials and two Nigerian policemen accompanying them were murdered by gunmen in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Obi wrote on his Twitter handle;
"I just got the most reprehensible news of the attack and killing of some international humanitarian workers in Anambra state, which happened on Tuesday. This despicable act is highly condemnable.
"My heartfelt sympathy goes to the families of the deceased, the United States Embassy and other charitable International agencies involved. Nothing can be more deplorable than that somebody has to die while rendering a charity job for a people and a nation in need.
"The rising crime rate in our community and country is not unconnected with the frightening rising poverty level and unemployment of youths in our land which is a consequence of a prolonged leadership failure over the years.
"When youths in their product ages remain idle for a prolonged time the devil finds in them veritable tools to build workshops in. Our redemption remains a quick turnaround from consumption to production.
"I urge the appropriate security agencies to put no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of these wicked and abominable acts are fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law. -PO"
