The best way a leader benefits his people is by speaking and infact protecting the intetest of his people when the need arises. Not by representing the people at national or regional caucus for money sharing purposes.
PoliticsBenue Massacre: Let's Hear These Key Leaders by eodavids(op): 10:28am On Jan 04, 2018
We have searched for powerful comments from key leaders of the Benue people, but no success yet. Any person on Nairaland with comments from key leaders of Benue people should post it here.

The Benue massacre that is reported to have taken 52 lives is yet another heart-touching evil visited on the good people of Benue State, and it has been agreed unanimously that Benue people do not deserve this and the likes that preceded it.

Common sense shows that more are likely on the way against Benue except:

Important personalities of Benue extraction come out and speak boldly against these evil recurrence for the protection of their people.
Such people are:

1). PAUL UNONGO

2). GEORGE AKUME.

3). THE OTHERS.

"POWER CONCEDES NOTHING WITHOUT DEMAND; IT NEVER DID, IT NEVER WILL"

Perhaps the leading figures of Benue extraction need to heed this maxim.
Of what benefit is Paul Unongo, George Akume and the other leaders of Benue extraction if their voices will jot be heard over an important issue bordering on the lives, well-being and future of Benue people?

People like David Mark, Suswan and the likes being in the opposition may not make much impact, because their comments will readily be received as comminng from opposition point of view. This leave more burden of speaking out on Unongo, Akume and the others who have not been in the opposition party since the inception of this administration.

Over to you Nairalanders, more especially, the Benue sons and Daughters.

And there's a saying that any bird that gets killed by okpoko is obviously deaf.

We shouted about Buhari no one listened they called us wailers. Buhari is someone who is a skunk Islamic believer who would care less about death.

I've read and watch enough Islamic terrorist movies and the only way to make them feel the pain of what they're doing to others is to attack their children not their wives. PoliticsRe: Nigeria, A Secular State: What's Wrong? by eodavids(op): 11:11am On Jan 03, 2018
A multiethnic and multi-religious country like Nigeria can only survive if it hold unto secular practices and tenets. To want otherwise is tantamount to a call for disunity.
PoliticsNigeria, A Secular State: What's Wrong? by eodavids(op):
Secular state as it applies to Nigeria means that Nigeria as a country is not of any single religion. It follows therefore that decisions of National importance will/should not be taken based on one religion.

The entrenchment of secularism in Nigerian constitution was meant to serve a common good in the country. But notorious persons and groups have since faulted the arrangement, arguing that it has been favourable to one group and not to all, while the others argue in reverse.

How true are such arguments, considering the fact that much benefits has accrued to all tribes, languages and believe systems through the secular nature which Nigeria practices.

'Value is never known until it is lost'. If Nigeria should abandone secularism; what is the better option, considering the mutual suspicion which has survived for decades in Nigeria?

Isn't it the same thing as abandoning the unity of Nigeria to abandoned secularism?

PoliticsRe: Give Muslims Their Own 1st January Public Holiday - MURIC by eodavids(m): 10:28am On Jan 03, 2018
kayodekb:
WHAT NIGERIAN CHRISTIANS DEFINE AS TOLERANCE
Has anyone paid attention to the definition of 'tolerance' by Nigerian Christians?
.
If you don't use Hijab, you are tolerant, if you don't keep beard, you are tolerant, if you join them in Christmas then you are tolerant.
.
In a nut shell, stop practicing Islam and start practicing Christianity, then you are tolerant.
.
Start shaking hands with opposite gender indiscriminately, then you shall be celebrated as 'tolerant' start wearing short short scarf instead of full Hijab, then you are tolerant!
.
.
The more you abandon all Islamic Injunctions, the more you are tolerant.
.
Note, if Nigerian Christians start calling you tolerant, please start crying because they are celebrating your gradual exit from Islam.
.
In all honesty and sincerity I acknowledge the REAL tolerant Christians who see me as a Human being and respect my identity as a Muslim.
.
However, may all Christians who boil in rage whenever they see me in Hijab be consumed by that rage of theirs.
.
May all intolerant oppressors in the name of Christians who get instant headache whenever I refuse to shake the hands of opposite gender be consumed by the consequences of their novel intolerance.
.
Bunch of outstanding hypocrites. I don't have headache when they are on their way to Church on Sunday, yet they burn in anger whenever they see me on my way to Masjid on Friday.
.
The federal government Christianize Nigeria by declaring two days in a week as PUBLIC HOLIDAY, because they have got to go to Church on Sunday and the Saturday Adventist have got to go to Church on Saturday, yet to spare me two hours to attend Mosque on Friday becomes major problems for these celebrated bigots.
.
Yet they talk about tolerance, if I don't have problems with the obvious Christianization of Nigeria by declaring the days of worship of Christians as PUBLIC HOLIDAY, and they literarily get mad because I left the class to pray on Friday who is the tolerant?
.
Lecturers will come to class to preach Jesus, yet no Muslim lecturer will dare to. Why do I have to be tensed up Everytime because of the fear of molestation by people whose intolerance are turning them to mad people. Can you imagine a lecturer literarily shaking while asking my friend to remove her niqab. He was shaking while roaring like a mad man. I stood up to him and told him that he could ask the female security personnel to confirm her Identity, yet he will have none of that. A lecturer had once used almost ten minutes in class to VENT because a well dressed Muslim's trouser is not been dragged on the floor. Yet one of the 'Jazz' boys in class whose trouser was also jumping is not been addressed. I have realized that it is our religion as Muslims that actually enrage them, not really our identity.
.
I will try to encourage these oppressors to keep it up and they should try to double up the victimization they are good at, the burden of your boiling heart is on you.
.
Imagine, shameless people that are not even ashamed of the victimization of Hijab sisters, they are not ashamed of their intolerance, I have never seen unrepentant HATE CRIMINALS like some Nigerian Christians. They are even bold enough to defend their gross intolerance.
.
Imagine arguments such as "But Buhari's daughter removed her hijab during her call to bar ceremony" The same Buhari they have earlier called TERRORIST is now their sweetheart because he has given up part of Islam. Is Buhari now equivalent to Islam?
.
Finally, O ye Muslims that need acceptance from Christians before you will be able to live, just know that, "The more you leave Islam, the more they celebrate you"
.
Why do our sisters have to cry and have that far distant looks on their faces whenever we ask them about the day they are called to bar, why should they have to deal with the trauma of being violated. Hijab is just like shirt or blouse to us, IT IS PART OF CLOTHES! it is not a uniform, how violated will you feel if you are asked to remove your blous e or top for just a 'ceremony', won't you feel violated? Yet these hypocrites makes the barbarism of removing the Hijab during call to bar ceremony 'no big deal' SHAME ON YOU BIGOTS, SHAME!
.
I was still in Junior Secondary school when I met an Hijabite who was violated during 'the call to bar' the distant look of trauma on her face while describing that day is stuck in my memory till date.
.
She was narrating her experience after so many years of the incidence yet she is still traumatized.
.
I see the way you dress also gross, I mean I can see your ENTIRE shape outside, it is just as if the purpose of the clothe you are wearing is to serve as a paint over your skin. The whole of your body is seen only that the colour is partially cancelled by a piece of painting you call clothe, I for once never agree with your choice of clothing yet I WILL NEVER RAISE MY EYEBROWS AT YOU NOT TO TALK OF MY VOICE.
.
We wear a clothe that you do not agree with, but unfortunately your tolerance is DEAD, it is either you are yanking our nikab off in a physical aggression that has consumed you, which equals terrorism, or you are busy shouting on us like a mad dog has just bitten you, yet you will be busy defending your excessive madness SHAMELESSLY.
.
What kind of things are you exactly? You terrorize us, yet you call us terrorist, you master of intolerance call us intolerant, Kai. Your case is complicated.
.
In conclusion, if you are a Muslim and Christians in Nigeria are calling you tolerant, run back to Islam because you can ONLY be tolerant when you leave Islam in their own dictionary.
.
Let me educate you bigots on tolerance, I know you will not use the knowledge but I will still teach you. When you do not agree with what a group of people are doing yet you are in peace with it, that is TOLERANCE. The moment you find yourself getting discomforted the moment I start fasting in Ramadan, then you are intorant.
.
Has anyone noticed that the Christians have problems with EVERYTHING we do? If we pray they complain, if we fast they complain, if we eat they complain, if we dress they complain. They water down Islam so much that the hatred rooted in their heart against Muslim. I swear Na complaint go finish you. I WON'T CHANGE TO PLEASE YOU. Woe on any Muslim that leaves Islam to please you.
PS. Nobody should tell me I am too harsh, I think what I term as "diplomacy" is now cowardice, I am past the age where I will cry in a corner whenever derogatory words are thrown at me, nowadays I stand up for myself.
.
I will never opress ANYBODY hence I will not allow anybody to opress me.
-- Hamidah bint Abass.
You are very wrong. We still have Christians who like good Muslims for the goodness. Do not use your school experience to conclude on muslims versus Christians relationship in Nigeria.

Ironically, you are occupied by hatred that emanates from your school experience and it is evident all over your post here.

BE INFORMED: THERE ARE CHRISTIANS WHO HELP THEIR MUSLIM FRIENDS TO PRAY, AS WELL PRACTICE ISLAM BETTER.

YOUR SPEECH DEPICTS THE LEVEL OF YOUR INTERACTION YOUR ENTIRE LIFE.

YOUR SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT/EXPERIENCE HAS BECLOUDED YOUR SENSE OF REASONING. YOU MAY NEED TO BE COUNSELED ON YOUR STUDENT EXPERIENCE/TRAUMA SO YOU MAY LIVE A NORMAL LIFE, ELSE, YOU KEEP SEEING THINGS FROM THIS MYOPIC POINT OF REASONING AS YOU'VE DEMONSTRATED ABOVE.

MURIC and oversabi.
Thank you Sis.

Nigeria was entrenched to operate a secular state. This was to enable all parts and faith in Nigeria benefit equally in the sociopolitical activities in the country.

This MURIC group has positioned itself to question and disagree with the secularism which Nigeria operates. They are intentioned to reverse and change the status quo in favour of their creed.

Gregorian Calender is a secular calendar, while Islamic calendar is not. Secularism accommodates all interests while Islamic tenets do not accommodate the interest of non-muslims.

If MURIC continues on the part they are threading currently, they will ignite an unwanted situation.

I have seen many claims on here that wearing hijab to one's call to bar is against the law, but I have yet to see anybody cite the specific law that is being violated. This is not about Amasa's religion, it's about her secular rights, and in this case, the law school, in spite of its unique position as the nurturer of Nigeria's judicial institution, is evidently the erring party here. The law school should ferociously adhere to, and promote the spirit of Nigeria's constitution, not brazenly violate it, as it has done against this young lady. I'm happy she's brave enough to stand her ground, and I stand with Amasa Firdaus!
Your point is clear, @agent

But the point is:
Others, both her mates and previous graduates of Law school have certain areas and aspect of the institution's modus operandi which may not conform to their belief. All such people have kept quiet in the interest of peace and uniformity.

By this act, perhaps all future students will find a voice and must be given their right to difference.

Can you expect what right to difference will introducehuh

Has this lady been wearing hijab everywhere in her entire life?

Of course, no. It is therefore surprising that she could not endure few hours event without hijab.

She has admitted prejudice and bias. Mens rea and actus reus are both discernible from her speech and premeditated action. The only reason why she won't be prosecuted for this act is "for peace to reign".

One person has caused a whole national argument which has the tendency of polarising the citizens along religious lines and she has no regret at all.

Isn't religion meant to create a better human being out of its adherents?

And I'd simply go for your jugular. I'll tell the court that the nominal complaint was neither enticed nor forced to travel all the way to Abuja from Ph. It was one of mutual consent. In fact she said so herself that she expected to have sex with my client. Moreover, they have been having online sex chats and exchanging nudes pics further showing that she was ready and willing to do the deed with the defendant. Even when she found out he was married and she claimed she didn't want again, she did absolutely nothing to change her circumstances. Their agreement was sex in exchange for gifts and money. Since she refused to go on with the mutual implied agreement she had no business waiting for the defendant to still hold his side of the bargain. That was when she should have left but she didn't. Moreover, who was her witness to the her claims? Despite the fact that she had access and the means to reach others to assist her out of her so called circumstances she failed to do so instead she was decided to collect all she can from the defendant only for her to turn around and make up a fraudulent and baseless accusation of a non existent rape against my client in a bid to get something out him with the threat of tarnishing his image and wrecking his home.
On point.

I am not gender biased. And I know that with the flamzy and trivial way ladies likes to paint incidents to become rape; it just tends toward demonizing the men folks.

Perhaps this approach is meant to encourage lesbianism as a form of feminism that claim it unites the female folks against the opposite gender.

When they meat, each tries to satisfy him/herself. But, its all wrong. If not marriage, a lady's desires and the guy's intentions are morally wrong.

But, when you subject all these anomalies to the law to scrutinize, the law will ask "who went beyond boundaries and acted illegally"?

Law does not merely conote morality, but moral codes are friendly with the dictates of our laws.

If ladies continues to patronize guys with the usual outcome of having the guy spend valuables on her; ladies should also be ready and willing to give to the guys what the later requires from them which is always obvious to each of the gender.

If a girl says she doesn't want to do and you still force yourself on her it's rape.

If a girl follows you to a hotel or to your house or office, even if she wears a mini skirt and no undies and she doesn't consent, it's rape.

If you and the girl are doing it and after a while she says stop but you don't stop, it's rape.

A lot of Nigerian men need to understand this.
RAPE CONNOTES AN ISTANCE OF NON-CONCENT AND WHAT CHARACTERIZES IT IS VIOLENCE, CRYING, SHOUTING, WOUNDS ON THE RAPIST, EVEN IF ITS A BITE SOMEWHERE ON HIS BODY OR HAVING HIS CLOTHES DAMAGED.

YOU SEEM TO HOLD THE NOTION THAT THE LADY CAN GIVE AND WITHDRAW CONSENT AS SHE WISHES AND WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE MAN.

SOME OF THIS THINGS TEND TO MAKE CARICATURE OF CRIMINAL LAW. BUT, THE LAW IS ALREADY MORE SOPHISTICATED THAN SOME PEOPLE CAN COMPREHEND.

THE ADVICE GIVEN TO THIS PERSON IS SUFFICIENT. SHE MUST HAVE TOLD LIES IN PH AND TRAVELLED TO ABUJA TO SATISFY HER LOVER. SO, MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED.

SHE DID NOT AVER THAT THE GUY PROMISED HER MARRIAGE, SO NOTHING CHANGED. EVEN AS A MARRIED MAN, HE STILL SPENT LOTS OF MONEY, EMOTIONS AND MONEY ON HER AND. AND SHE QUIETLY ENJOYD IT WHILE IT LASTED.

SHE NEVER SHOUTED, NOR INJURE THE "RAPIST".

A VICTIM OF RAPE CAN EVEN BITE THE PERSON MOLESTING HER AND THE LAW WILL EXORNORATE HER, NOT A LADY WHO ONLY SEEM TO HAVE CHANGED HER MIND DAYS AFTER THE EVENTS.

Enough of this amoral acts being displayed, even to the point of trying to show he has great feelings for the children; it does not work that way. DO YOU LOVE YOUR CHILDhuh
