If we can sustain the urgency with which we play for 90 minutes and for all our matches, top 6 will be very easy. But we need those final balls landing in the box, maybe when our striker starts. We have too many balls around the box but not landing at the center to cause panic |

nitrogen: Again, young players will always show immaturity. It’s for the manager to sort things out and don’t let it get to the public. Amorim also lashed out at him publicly. What were you expecting?
Forget, young players these days have plenty false egos because of ridiculous transfer fees and limited talent out there. It’s for you to find a way to manage them, there is nothing you can do about it. Part of a manager’s job description. Check Ronaldo and Fergie’s relationship at Utd. What was Ronaldo and Fergie's relationship? Why don't you check the relationship between Fergie and those ones he stoned boot or sold away from the club? |

Bombblacks: I was about to make this point about Cunha. I am all for cultural reset but how then do you go out and buy one the most problematic and lazy player in the league who has fallen out with nearly 4 different Managers. I still don't understand the Cunha signing especially for a position we were well stacked in. We could have used that funds for other relevant positions. Mbuemo, Bruno and Sesko would have been good enough. We are losing Rashford, Antony and Garnacho. Rasmus may be gone, I'm not sure what your stand is on Rasmus. How many players do we need to replace these ones? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 9:07pm On Aug 08, 2025 |
nitrogen: We should not sell him now. Give him one more season, let him come off the bench and learn overtime. He started as a sub and did really well until we started relying on him for chances and goals upfront. For a team that is trying to find their feet, do you think the team can afford any sort of disruption from some players? Attitude to training and matches, subtle disrespect to the manager, feeling more important than other players, making provocative comments on social media etc? |

nitrogen: If a player needs to be disciplined, then go ahead and do so. Selling is the last resort especially for a young player like Ganarcho. We know how other managers manage situations like this. You don’t immediately sell young players because of immaturity, you try to get them on track first and if after some time it does not work you discard.
Rashford and Sancho cases are understandable. So do you know what steps have been taken in the case of Garnacho? What has Garnacho reaction been to this discipline? Has he shown that he has learned some lesson and ready to play for the manager? |

nitrogen: Yes we are. You will see the impact of all these transfers on our financials very soon. You forgot all the cost savings measures that you guys were complaining about.
Meanwhile, the upgrades at Carrington were planned since 2021. They only implemented in 2024 because the council approved the plan in 2023 or so. How will you rate the transfer window? Do you think we're getting better players and addressing key issues in the team? |

Bombblacks: Fernandes won't be in midfield. It will be Ugarte doing the dirty work. It all depends on Amorim and the tactics he wants to apply. If he cares about dominating then going for a profile like Stiller, Casado, Rovella etc is no brainier. As I see this ugarte name I just burst out laugh |

Leyqute: One of my biggest worries is that Bruno, a player that time and time again drops standards, is looked up to for inspiration and consistency in maintaining high standards.
That second goal yesterday wouldn’t have happened if Bruno did the simple thing and Casemiro wasn’t finished. We will find out very soon if these guys know what they're doing. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 12:05pm On Aug 04, 2025 |
patrickmuf: I understand that our midfield obviously needs improvement but like Amorim noted, if the defenders were not caught walking instead of sprinting towards the edge of the box, that first goal doesn't happen.
We need the whole team to be in sync. When attacking, the midfield should be able to push higher up the pitch, joined by the defence, else our press will easily be bypassed by the opponent. I saw several instances yesterday when the attackers were pressing, but only the wingers pushed higher up the other side pitch to join the press while the midfielders and defenders didn't bother to burst a sweat. Yesterday while play was still ongoing Bruno was fighting with another player, and some players had to join them to settle the fight. Match was still ongoing o. Players that should be sprinting into position were fighting or settling fight. The indiscipline some dey make me purge. You're almost guaranteed to see an opposition player outsprint our midfielders |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 12:45am On Aug 04, 2025 |
ChristineC: I think so. I believe Amorim's aim at this stage is to outscore as many teams as possible so he still wants that striker.
I expect that we'd concede our fair share. fingers crossed. My fear is that we will concede a couple goals we shouldn't. But we can't solve all our problems once so I'll say we have done okay. I didn't even expect this much considering we're struggling to generate revenue via player sales |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 12:22am On Aug 04, 2025 |
ChristineC: everybody sees the same thing. it could be an issue of fixing one department per summer as per PSR, and attack is rightly identified as the emergency area. I will not too bothered though if we can only add a competent goal keeper to the attacking recruitments this summer. We should be able to get top 6 with our current squad unless a couple of key players get injured |

I'm wondering what Amorim is taking away from this game. If it doesn't remind him about how poor our midfield can be in and out of possession, I don't know what else will |
