All our hard work this transfer window will be undone if we stick to this same set of players in the midfield. There has to be at least one Baleba like addition Lana1: This should be the priority. I dont know why they are chasing Sesko that is not 100% commited about playing for us |

dreamxhaser: Real! The midfield is just not it. I have a feeling we just dump this sesko idea and buy a midfielder. But what do I know🤷♂️ If I'm the one in charge, I will go all out for a midfielder that can be everywhere. We should be fine with what we already have in the attack |

We need to be more aggressive and faster in closing down players and spaces. Everton are doing that better and able to control the game. We just need that man in the middle |

Oasis007: .....simple! We wanna be playing from the back, yet no player is showing up to collect ball and drive it forward.
Our CBs can't dribble a cone or shield the ball except Yoro, Heaven and Licha. We have got serious works to do.
Amorim should risk it all or leave. Let us see what he can offer not what players can offer. We need to know who to blame this time around. Amorim has to find a way to make these players play with some urgency from kick off. We really need to see something different from these players during this preseason |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 8:29am On Jul 20, 2025 |
We need our midfielders escaping their markers and showing up for passes. Whether it's a 343, 433, 442 or 451, you need players constantly moving and showing up for the ball. Players that can progress with the ball and release the ball on time, not trying to fight their way through 3 opponents in the midfield |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 8:20am On Jul 20, 2025 |
TrebleChamp: We will have to agree at some point that 343 is not working for us, or maybe it could work with Mbeumo on the right and a big strong bully striker like Aghehowa. Aside that we need some speed and urgency with the ball movement. We need a lot of people arriving in the box and also demanding the ball. Many times we had very few people in the box when we attacked because the players can't match the energy needed for going up down the field for the whole 90 minutes. Hopefully they build that fitness so that when we're attacking, we should be seeing at least 3 players in the box, and when there's a counter they can still chase down the ball and win it back. We already agreed a couple of things need to change in terms of personnel. I can only see Cunha in the attack so far. We need more hustlers |

It is well. Making the right decision is still a very big problem for them in the final third. We can't create chances or even trouble their keeper if they keep making the wrong decisions |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 5:47pm On Jul 17, 2025 |
dreamxhaser: True, Amorim should be flexible.
If most are observant, you'll notice that the season Rashford scored goals and we qualified for the UCL was when Ten Hag switched to counter-attack after his first few games.
The only reason we didn't win the Europa League and even finish close to City was because our legs were tired towards the end (leading to the 7-0 trashing by Liverpool).
Now, what I expected of him was to get new (better) players for those strategic positions where we were lacking subs and where the players weren't good enough. But instead, he wasted our funds on useless players trying to play something new, I don't even know what. I'm guessing he wanted to play something new because counter football was not what he agreed with the management to play before he was hired. I'm guessing same for Amorim too. They probably discussed a certain way of playing and it's important for them not to lose focus of the dream/goal. Should there be compromise along the way, maybe yes, but for how long? A season, two seasons, half? Meanwhile ETH is a goat. He had the opportunity to do something good but instead messed it up with management overseeing the mess |

nitrogen: I agree with you. The above happened under the Glazers. Thank goodness we have someone else calling the shots. I am sure it would be different this time. If we make UCL, we will spend more to go for the league title. At this time, it’s looking like survival mode under Amorim. Top 8 will be a significant progress vs last season’s 15-17th position. How can you be sure it will be different this time? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 12:00pm On Jul 16, 2025 |
nitrogen: Let’s start from trying to make top 4. Whether we buy a brand new squad or not, we are not competing for the title in 2-3 years from now. Infact, Amorim should make top 8 first with what he has, or do we need a brand new squad to make top 8? ETH made top 4, then made top 8 I think, then got Hojlund as his main striker that has never scored more than 10 goals in a season I think. Then he bought another half or semi striker. Mourinho made top 4 and won Europa, then wept bitterly for lack of players. We have been here long enough to know that when we make champions league, the club become reluctant to spend. Its only when we loose out that they start panic buying players for unnecessary amount and offering undeserving wages to players. We were not born yesterday |

patrickmuf: It is what I asked them weeks ago. If Amorim is sacked, what's next? Won't the new manager come in and ask for new players to be brought in? No top manager will be happy to work with the tools we currently have. Even those that are optimistic, their optimism will clear after some games. Only average and below average managers that are just happy to be the manager of Manchester United will be satisfied with the players we have currently. Their only goal will be to manage the situation and try to make top 4 as much as possible. Nothing more |

Buy better players that actually want to be here for the club, they say no because they don't like the coach. When the coach is sacked, won't the new coach need better players or everyone must be forced to use the players that don't want to be here anymore or can't be assed to put in an extra shift unless they're playing a big team rival, or the ones that just want to be fighting gidigbo on the field and can't hold up play if his life depends on it. |

MRTA7: For sure. I'm not laying all the blame at the manager. The players have already shown they are not good enough. I just wonder if the manager is also squeezing the most juice possible from this squad. As far as I'm concerned, I'm all for taking off the gloves. Most of the players are not good enough. Others are not interested in doing more. A couple of them don't want to be here anymore but nobody is going to offer them that kind of wage. It's obvious they're not that good enough. We have to be very sincere with ourselves and understand the journey ahead. The only kind of coaches that will be happy to coach these set of players are those that are used to coaching mediocre players. Any top coach that manages to come here will start complaining after a couple of months and will most likely not stay the second season if recruitment doesn't match their ambition |
