afrodoc2: Forget panther7. Here is my list. Let’s tackle it point by point
1) Difficulty receiving the ball on the half turn from CBs especially under pressure (key requirement of a CDM).
2) Inconsistent first touch
3) Rushing into challenges and gets dribbled past a bit too easily at times
4) Poor shooting ability. 1. Fred is never a CDM. He wasn't yesterday, he's not today, he won't be tomorrow. 2. He needs to be calmer on the ball. His inconsistent first touch is because he wants to get the ball moving. 3. This is the most obvious for me. He more than makes up for it if we're being honest. I understand honesty is not the best policy here 4. Well shooting is not even a virtue anymore. Let's work the ball into the box sir |

afrodoc2: eph12. Let’s start tackling the other points. See my response here. eph12: Fred played 85 minutes again today for his country, the great Brazil. You'll need to have a rethink and rewrite that list before I take it seriously o I'll be back when panther7 does some soul searching and rewrite his list. |

Next point.
Poor first touch.
But wait o. If you are a teacher and your student gets one answer wrong out of 6, you will fail him? Na why I no be teacher. Let panther7 inform the house that he was terribly wrong there by himself, then we will discuss the next point |

Panther7: Using stats to judge a player's passing abilities is wrong, Data/Stats can be biased, if Fred makes 35 out of 35 passes in a match stats won't show you how many of them were sloppy passes. I have said it before Fred passes the ball in a way that put his teammates under pressure either by over hitting or under hitting the pass but if it gets to his teammates Data will count it as completed pass.
From stats Fred is the best passer of the ball but from eye view he is not. With all the data can you say Fred is the best passer in the team? Obviously not. So it's eye view now? Whose eye view? Anyways good luck with this eye view |

afrodoc2: See as you rush latch unto one point and leave the other myriad points.
What about the following?
Poor first touch Rushing into tackles and getting dribbled easily Poor shooting ability INABILITY TO RECEIVE THE BALL UNDER PRESSURE FROM THE CBs (cardinal quality of a CDM)
Fred has never been a 6 and does not play as a 6 for Brazil. He is at his best as an 8 however we have Pogba who is a far better 8 than him, hence Fred should be a squad player for us NOT a starter. That is the koko. That alone is enough to cancel every other thing. If he agrees that he made a mistake there, we can move on to the next point |

Panther7: Did you say a couple of flaws? Poor first touch Rushing into tackles Easily gets dribbled Poor shooting ability Poor passing ability Inability to receive the ball under pressure/ from the Cb I saw a stat last season; Fred has taken 54 shots and only 7 was on target. If Fred is balling in the Copa America the question is against who? I don't have any agenda against Fred but he is not just good enough. Poor passing ability for someone that has one of the best passing stats in the team? It's either the whole team get poor passing ability or you don't know anything about football. Which one is it? |

elampiro: We are being vindicated. The problem we have is some fans over analyse football. We all see Fred work rate and his tendency for forward play. I remember when people blamed him for losing possession quickly, mostly with his second touch, I said it is because his mind is to go forward as quickly as possible. No matter how the space is tight, Fred wants to take the ball forward. This is his first taught. Fred has a couple of flaws. Passing backwards was never one. I wonder where people got that from |

CapitalCee: Lets be frank to ourselves which player Belgium get?
KDB their best player is nursing an injury. Hazard is finished completely. Lukaku seem not to perform against big teams. The rest of the players are average. Vamalean, Verthonghen and Alderwielred have an average age of 101 years. They are all finished.
Italy, England and France have the best squad. What you wrote about Lukaku is false. Italy had Belgium pinned in their half for long periods. Supply to Lukaku was cut off. If you watch the game, you'll notice what I'm talking about |

adisaaowala: Okay.
How do we accommodate the "Solid defensive Midfielder" + Fred + Pogba + Bruno in the same starting lineup? They don't all have to play at once unless there's a tactical reason for that. Everyone gets equal opportunity to show what they add to the team |

adisaaowala: From your assessment, do we need to sign a midfielder for immediate inclusion in the starting 11? A solid defensive midfielder yes. Fred is not a DM. It's just like asking Kante to stay at the base. It won't work. You need a Matic, Drinkwater, Jorginho there |

Karleb: When Pogba was on injury before we purchased Bruno, Fred was our best midfielder. When Pogba returned and we got Bruno, his performance dropped.
I don't blame those asking for Fred's head.
For a player of that national and experience, Fred is not the best fit for a united midfield.
At times I feel like cursing the guy when he fails to do the simplest things. His performance didn't drop. You blame him for things that are not his fault. And the occasional lapses, you magnify. But every player do experience these lapses just that you choose to ignore other players and crucify Fred. Every player do fail to do the simplest of things including your mcm but Fred is always the one that gets picked on |

Let me make a small confession here. Till today I have not watched the penalty shootout against Villarreal. Immediately it got to penalties I stood up and started preparing for work. SugarDdaddy: Manchester United are going on a wrong part from their destiny. See!! I am a fan of FC Barcelona but i am a lover of good football and great footballers irrespective of the club they play for. While it's good for Manchester United to buy players with big money, i think they are derailing from what makes a club a great club. Manchester United or perhaps the coach do not see the beauty of Pogba and what he can give to the club. I watched the Euros and i can tell you in full audacity that Paul Pogba was the best player in France, even mbappe don't even come close at all. Pogba is a midfield genius, Pogba in France reminds me of Pirlo and Paul Scholes. I think Manchester United lack the proper coach because If a man like Guardiola handles Pogba and rashford, i am sure both of them will be contenders for Balon d or. This current coach of Manchester United can't successfully utilise the players he is got and this new player the club bought won't make a difference. Pogba should be the one taken all the penalties and free kicks, if Manchester United is build around Paul Pogba, the club will excel.
Pogba is good, he just needs a coach that will put the burden of the club on his shoulder, more like what Juventus is to Ronaldo, Messi is to Barca and Neymar is to PSG. Manchester United need to make Pogba the face of the club and bring in a coach that will install confident in him and with the help of young players like Rashford. Manchester United will excel and by the way, instead of splashing 70 million pounds on this latest signing, why not sack the coach, bring in Zidane and bring Ramos to Manchester United?
Imagine Zidane handling this current Manchester United players with Ramos in charge of the defence. Just pause and imaging what if will be. How I wish Barcelona can go for Paul Pogba, imagine Messi and Pogba in the same team, oboy!!! Na nuclear weapon o. For those of you that didn't read this, you must read it o |
