shey you expect Ole to enter the brains of Fred, AWB and Maguire to enable them release the ball on time or to stop them from dancing on the field. AWB will need to improve alot for him to fit the system we are playing. Yes, he is a good defender. but he is a liability during build up as he is susceptible to pressing and his ball progression is very poor. When he gets the ball he usually passes it to Pogba or Baily instead of the forward option to Bruno or Greenwood.

Smalling is just a fit Phil Jones minus the own goals.

Defense will always be calamitous when it's always under pressure. When there's always a free pass for opponents, it's a problem for defenders anywhere. Bring a midfield that can control the game, win balls back and run all day, the defense will be very solid. I can't speak for his ability on the ball, however his defensive ability was quite good

On the footballing side, Liverpool and City are best placed to challenge in Europe over the next 4 - 5yrs compared to Madrid or Barcelona. Also, most of those players will be looking at Coutinho and Hazard and how they have struggled in Barca and Madrid respectively thus will think twice before angling for a move...

On transfers like Doc pointed out, Ole needs to insist it's Sancho or nothing...It's not now that Ed will want to form a smart negotiator, he should stomp the cash and let's have Sancho for the preseason...

They've won the league and the champions league, they may want to have a go for one more season and seek excitement elsewhere. The likes of Madrid, Barca, Juve still have that appeal, especially if they are ready to drop the cash. I won't rule out a transfer if these teams are interested. They can also look at the likes of Modric, Ronaldo that went there and won individual awards.

Sancho or nothing is a dangerous game o. Nothing shouldn't be an option lol

However if Ole can't convince Ed to invest properly it is on Ole. It is one thing to appear gentle and meek when addressing the press but you have to be assertive privately.

The next 1-2 seasons is likely to see a transition as some of the main players in Liverpool and Man City start to age. Only a club which has put itself in the right position will be able to capitalize.
United and Chelshit are the 2 likely contenders but both are possibly 2 GOOD transfer windows away from really challenging.

True Ole needs to be very firm about some things, even if it's privately. On the flip side, his winning the Europa may prompt the board to spend more as they may trust him to deliver.

Like you said, some of those guys at lfc and City may either begin to age or lose motivation. We need to put our house in order so we're ready to capitalize on that when it happens. Like I don't get. We need an extra body or 2 in the midfield. Quality bodies. An actual left footed CB won't hurt. Sancho alone won't solve our problems. There are easier targets that he should be wrapping up now

That's true tho..really liked the high press of city..if there's one thing that's certain,slow midfield is fading out..midfielder need to be mobile..that's why I feel we would suffer with a pogba matic combo against tactically mobile midfielders

City was always going to dominate this match, that was expected. City were better throughout the match, and Pep was probably tactically superior. However, at the end of the day, what decided the match wasn't those things but the very avoidable errors Varane made. Maybe Varane was targeted, we will never know
