I wonder if they do psychiatric tests before signing people on, cos truly and indeed many are mad but few are roaming. This guy here is a classic example of that.

Any sensible person knows Yorubas are wayyyyyyy different from Ijaws.

For one, our men don't tie wrapper

Secondly, our men aren't drunkards which place all the burden of the family on their wives.

We can't be more different than these people.

So I'm amazed that they said somebody said something about some nonsense somewhere that Yorubas want the Ijaws to join them?

The only ethnic groups that have any kind of affiliation with the Yorubas are the. Itshekiri and Bini people. And they don't have to join the Yorubas If they don't want to.

The Yorubas are a great people, proud but very accommodation.

I don't see us trying to annex anybody who isn't from the land of kaaro oojire, for whatever reason.

Just come out and do your insulting straight up, no point wrapping and sugar coating it.

The bigger question is how many students in the North go on to University after their WAEC, the numbers drop drastically after secondary school. When the intake is higher, then focus can shift to the grade of their degree.

The only few Northerners we tend to see graduating (usually overseas) are those from wealthy homes.

Education should be for ALL not a select few.

9jakohai:

I don't mind you attacking the governor. God knows our leaders do need some sharp tongued attacks every now and then.

But the assumption you make is that El Rufai is going to be sitting down in Holland for the next four years , leaving his state all alone....which is a flawed assumption you make.He will be there for just six weeks this year, and then come home and run the show. The follwing years he is going to spend one week every year there.

Also, while I wish our governors would patronise our universities, they won't because they are bad. And they are bad because they lack funding. When ASUU last went on strike to get N3trillion for all our universities in 2013...which isn't even enough....most Nigerians told them to go and sit down.

Meanwhile, our universities get by on fees less than $100 per annum. Funding for education, even when the oil money was flowing , was not up to N1 trillion. You expect something out of nothing.?

And is it only the governor going out....how about millions of Nigerians who are also going out...some sponsored by their state governors.?

We should improve our universites. But it is going to take more than El Rufai transfering to ABU's Faculty of Administration. It is going to take money....trillions of naira which we cannot raise because we somehow have to keep educaiton cheap for the masses, while we earn less and less money from oil Even at a $100 per barrel....we did not have enough for educaiton. And we need more than N4 trillion per annm to make our unis like Holland. Our budget this year is N8 trillion.

My assumption has nothing to do with him sitting down there for 4 years. Even if it's a 1 day per year attendance, I will still blast because of the morality of the action.

Well, as you yourself has clearly stated, the unis are bad so the governors WILL NOT patronise them, so please why are they standing for elected positions then, why? It's such two faced hypocrisy and it's very very shameful although I know these governors have no iota of shame in them unfortunately else he won't even be putting these pics up.

Millions of Nigeria can decide to study overseas because guess what, they are not occupying any position which has a mandate to improve the country. Governors on the other hand are occupying such.

Well, for example, there are many medical doctors who do part time programmes. One would have thought that with all the business being a doctor entails, they get time?

And it is a part time programme. He does not even need to be physically at the place to do studies. He may probably be ther for one month out of twelve.

Here is the training programme for El Rufai's Phd course

GPAC² training programme structure

The training programme consists of the following main elements:

Year one: a basic training programme in year one of the programme, provided in Maastricht. This basic training programme consists of three visiting periods of two weeks each. Course modules are compulsory for all fellows and will be assessed by the tutors. Basic courses are obligatory for all participants, specialisation courses allow for a personal choice.

All subsequent years: Two workshops of one week per year, jointly with all higher year GPAC² cohorts at the School. The workshop programme includes fellow presentations, with reviewer discussions, progress meetings, skills workshops, seminars and master classes.

Voluntary participation in online course modules, offered with tutor assistance in for instance governance and political science, statistics, mathematics, economics, impact evaluation, social protection, human development, migration, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Personal supervision and monitoring during the entire programme, in year one by staff members of the School and the partner institutes and in subsequent years by an individually selected supervisory team.

And which in addition has a deputy governor, LG chairmen, councillors, etc...who could help solve the crisis.

After all, during the 2000 crisis, the then state governor was away on medical leave. His deputy was in charge..and did a good job handling the intital response.

Plus...Kaduna's issues have a lot to do with tribalisim, religious bigotry, etc...and it is going to take more than a governor to solve the issue.

Yes, because in the 1970's, Gowon took over many mission schools, and as a result, Kaduna state has to run too many schools with limitied money. And corruption chops much of it sadly.(Which is why I back all anti-corruptuon fights of all governments from Obj onwards. Forget political persecution...most of those people are theives).

Of course...ElRufai could hand over the mission schools like Queen Amina College, Science School Kufena, and GGSS Kwoi back to their old owners...who would increase fees to cover costs...and which would lead to protests. Or he could raise taxes...which could lead to protests. Or he could raise school fees, which would lead to protests. Or he could even build more new schools...which would then increase the running costs for the educaiton ministry in the state. And who is going to train the teachers needed? Are teachers willing to go teach in the rural areas? You see the problem?

Salary of a govenror: N2.2 million per month.($7000)...and yes, it is outrageous.
Fees at El Rufai's school : 8000 euros in yr 1, 6000euros in year 2.($8602 per annum....then $6402 per annum)
El Rufai does not need to loot to do his course. He can pay for it from his salary!

One minute we are blasting PMB for lacking certificate...the next minute, we are blasting governor for trying to get a certificate.

And OBJ did register for a postgrad project in CRK in NOUN when he was president!

Anyway....he is spending six weeks out of a year in the Netherlands...and even just for year 1.....

Well, I am defending his decision to go to university (not his style of governance...mind) and I passed my JAMB at first attempt, without cheating thank you very much. (I did not even know there was expo, until two days after the exam...lol!)

Some of you people should stop blasting our leaders for the sake of it. One thing I learned from GEJ's attempt from removing fuel subsidy in 2012...which failed because Nigerians were not wise enough to see the benefits...and after how deregulation worked so well for GSM...is that sometimes, even the leaders we blast do the right thing..and they must be hailed for it, sentiments aside. And El -rUFAI HAS done a lot of wrong things . Going on this course is not one of them.

El-Rufai's University....information here

The problem with this country is not even just the leaders BUT their followers who do not put them in check, and even worse defend them.

So with the councillors and LG chairmen in the state who in your words can run the state, why can't he just resign and leave it for them to run since they are so capable.

No one is asking him not to get a degree but surely common sense should dictate that whilst actively serving is not the appropriate time for that.

You may have passed JAMB once (congrats) but guess what, lots of students year on year struggle to get an education, yet we justify a governor running a programme overseas, smh. Not to mention the abysmal state of our universities. If government officials already know they can fly abroad at the drop of a hat for education and health treatments, what incentive is there for them to develop Nigeria? Their kids already study abroad so that's why they can comfortably afford to let ASUU go on strike for as long as they want. Infact, don't get me started.

What does Buhari's lack of a certificate have to do with this? They are 2 separate issues and should be treated as such.

OBJ registered for a course in NOUN, at least that was in a Nigerian university not in the Netherlands or anywhere else outside the country. Besides, there being a wrong precedent does not justify continuing with it.

We will continue to blast our leaders as long as they do not do what they were elected to do, deal with it.

It is wrong and we shouldn't deny this..

I'm amazed at the guy defending this up and down. What is right or to be proud of in a serving governor wasting public funds in a foreign university when his state is no where close to the level of development in Netherlands? He is doing his phd part time.

Abi you Nigerians never hear of part time programmes?

The university I graduated from offers part time degrees to people who want a university degree but are already working. Many people have gone through that programme. You come to school for 3 months during the long vacation, whenthe full time students are at home.

So with all that governance entails, he still finds time to do a part time programme? This just shows his level of unseriousness as a governor. The same state which has been plagued with crisis
The same state where lack of education is still an issue
Is the same state a serving governor deems fit to do a part time PhD in a Foreign country with public funds.

No wonder this country is where it is when people are even justifying this nonsense.
Funny how those defending him probably sat for JAMB five times before managing to secure admission to the substandard institutions we call universities.
