What exactly is going on in this country?

Every day it is one Graphic picture or the other on Nairaland. Don't we have a basic respect for human life? Why should the bodies of the dead be displayed all over the net. What kind of country is this?

In other countries, when fatal accidents occur, the first thing they do is cover up the dead, but in Nigeria people will whip out phones and start recording. Shameless country.

Where and when did he represent this country? Bash Ali is a nuisance. He is/has not been recognized by any boxing body (WBC, WBF, IBF, IBO, WBO). He is just feeling hunger pangs and has resorted to what he is known for - blackmail. Bendel "419" like Bashiru Ali. Meanwhile, he still want to see the so-called "area-boy".

July 31, 1993, African Heavyweight Title
September 11, 2000, WBF Cruiserweight Title

From NigeriaSports.com August 08, 2004:

Bash Ali has retained his World Boxing Federation cruiser weight after his opponent Tony Booth from Britain threw in the towel after just three rounds in their scheduled 12 round encounter at the indoor sports hall of the National stadium, Lagos. Although the fight ended in the 3rd round when Tony Booth's corner threw in the towel, they were later to explain that Tony had slipped in his hotel bathroom and injured his ankle on the morning of the fight, but that he had to go out and fight in order not to let the teeming boxing fans down.
And the popular belief that the challenger was an unknown boxer and as such a push over, was however, easily wiped out in the first round as he stood and fought toe to toe with the Bash Ali and landing some solid punches sending packed hall cheering for more.

Just finished watching the video and I weep for my country.
Someone was saying the lady was still breathing BUT Alas!! No emergency service to attend to her....
A couple of other people made a comment in yoruba that she is dead.
The comment was made void of any emotions as if making a normal conversation or as if it's something they see/witness everyday.
"Girl yen ti ku sha"

May baba God help us in this country.
May baba God bless us with good Leaders with good heads on their shoulders who have good intentions for this country.

People have become so desensitized towards death and human life, not a good thing at all. In other countries, when fatal accidents occur, the first thing they do is cover up the dead, but in Nigeria people will whip out phones and start recording. Shameless country.

Big prayer. Until we have good leadership, this country is going nowhere.

The earlier they ban these Danfo buses the better. The poor girl only wanted to make a livelihood for herself.

Living in Nigeria itself is a hazard, no value for human life, no prompt emergency service (but politicians are fast to run to London for the simplest of treatments). What a country.

Maybe we should ask someone from New Orleans, or Santiago to help us out because the study of Ifa and Orishas is very popular over there; it`s actually the most popular African religion in the Americas. So when everything has failed in the cradle of Yorubaland, we can call the people our ancestors betrayed to tell us about our culture and religion.

I don't think those living outside the country would know more than those right in the middle of it, although then again I have realized people appreciate indigenous languages and culture much more outside, so you could be right.

So you would rather he kept quiet and allow Buhari be seen as the demon and GEJ the democrat as the first thread was intended to achieve?

Buhari is the president and we should endeavor to support and wish him well for our good.

I personally don't give a hoot about any Nigerian president who is not doing what he should do and that applies to both Buhari and GEJ (neither do they care about anyone here), so my question still remains why was this man was assaulted?

Whether people see Buhari as a demon or not is his personal business, if he does what's in the people's interest, they will support him - that's a general rule that applies all over the world to any leader.

In any case, I am done with this discussion. I think I have made my point.

Was is Buhari that ordered him to be beaten up? Instead of people to address issues specifically, they play politics with everything. What has GEJ or Buhari got to do with issue of Bash Ali?

I am sure you read my first comment - my point was and still remains - why are people trying to justify this happening in 2017 because it happened in 2013. It was not right, it is still not right.

Why is the issue of his assault not being addressed? Why is the focus the fact that it has happened in the past? Why?

Nope you are the one clearly not getting the point.

For a second, just get it off your mind that the man was assaulted cos that assault isnt necessarily what this thread is about at the moment. And dont get it twisted, this is not me saying that the man being assaulted is right, but for now, that isnt what the topic of discussion is. Let's focus on the point of the thread.

Smh.
Why hasn't a thread been created on why this man was assaulted, why is the focus on who or when? Infact, Nigerians and Nigeria leave me speechless.
We are obviously not on the same page here (or ever), so let the conversation end here.

Thanks.

It would be great to have a similar thread, but this time for Buhari's reverse achievements e.g. the current cost of PMS, food prices, inflation, Southern Kaduna killings, Boko haram, and SO MUCH MORE.

To serve as a reference point when 2019 comes around the corner and BMC attempts to twist the facts.

That is clearly not the point; I'm sure the motive of this thread is very clear. It is in response to the dubious deceitful thread which was pushed to the frontpage earlier to distort public opinion.

You guys don't seem to get it.

A man was assaulted, a man who has represented this country before. Whoever did it does not make it right.

It is bad enough it happened in 2013, it is still happening in 2017 and the best we can come up with is debate which government was in power when he was assaulted? Just imagine the ridiculousness of that. It is despicable that a person who has represented this country has ever been assaulted and is still being assaulted. No wonder this country never seems to move forward.

By the way, if I may add, there are things one can play politics with. THIS is not one of those things.

GEJ's aides did it in 2013. Dalung's aides also did it in 2017. Does that make it right? Assault is assault regardless of whoever did it.

I don't understand the reasoning in Nigeria these days. Abnormal things become okay as long as it's been done before. Nonsense.

How can he be promoting the Nigerian culture when he is not even promoting Yoruba culture? Once you don`t believe in Yoruba religion, you can`t talk of Yoruba culture; he is not really qualified to represent Yorubaland anywhere in the world, he is representing the corrupt king-makers that put him where he is.

What do you consider to be Yoruba culture?

Implementation may be next to non but the policy does exist as seen in the attached snapshot.

The maximum speed limit in Nigeria is 100km/hr… and there is even a caveat that says “Ignorance of the law is not an excuse”

Tell us if you like these speed limits to be implemented or not..
