PoliticsRe: Recession: 3 Nigerian National Assets Buhari Must Not Sell- RMAFC by ephi123(f): 2:31pm On Sep 23, 2016
BeeBeeOoh:
The chairman of the Dangote group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote is one of the voices in support of the selling of some of the national assets to tackle the recession, especially Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG).

He said: “The only way for us to get out of this recession is to make sure we move into action quickly; by diversifying the economy quickly.

“If I had challenges in my company, I would not hesitate to sell assets to remain afloat, to get to the better times. It doesn’t make any sense for me to keep any assets and then suffocate the whole organisation.
Dangote is only looking out for his own interests. GREEDY man. All the wealth he has is still not enough. Money does not satisfy truly.

Yes that's true, that's something that scares me about this country, government only focuses on making money just to spend it. Imagine governors already supporting the idea. Sure sign that the sale will amount to nothing.
I agree, it's really worrisome. Let's watch and see.

Truth be told, government has no business doing business. The job of government is regulation, policy provision, providing conducive environment-in essence preparing a fertile land for businesses and citizens to thrive then they tax everything.
Yes I agree, but all the things mentioned are not even being done by this government so far. There is absolutely no justification for the sale of these assets. Absolutely none.
PoliticsRe: Vanguard's Picture Of Buhari Carrying NLNG, NNPC, Others by ephi123(f): 10:20am On Sep 23, 2016
If other governments had sold NLNG and co, will it be here today for Buhari to be considering selling?

All the recovered loots, what has been done with them?

A government that is totally bereft of ideas, the next thing that remains is to start selling off national assets. Big shame.

And the op said the visionless fg is diversifying...diversifying by looking for tax payers or for firms who didnt/don't pay tax! Nobody is encouraging tha but what happened to diversifying into productive areas and sectors that will gainfully involve nigerians? This govt is self serving and the most clueless on earth!
I didn't realize cracking down on tax evasion is now classified as diversification shocked there is nothing one won't see on nairaland.

PoliticsRe: External Reserves Drop To $24bn by ephi123(f): 9:30am On Sep 23, 2016
blueto:
The Problem is our imports surpasses our exports now than before, I remember when Jonathan was the president, he made effective pro-people policies that ensure farming goods were abundantly produced, so they were able to raise the Nigerian exports. I believe there is no country that is independent, even China, they also import, but the problem is allowing imports to surpass exports. As a result of the contraction, foreign firms have liquidized, so they need forex to move their liquid capital out of the nation. Did you read the news of how MTN moved about $12b out of Nigeria? where did they source the simoleon from?

And also, foreign investors are now deterred of investing because if the harsh business environment, poor infrastructure, lack of basic amenities, multiple taxations, unfavorable forex policies and so on. they now resorts to buying bonds instead of making investments thay will see them inject more to the FX reserves. This admimistration needs more people like Emefiele, thank God Buhari didn't sack him, like he did to some other technocrats that GEJ appointed.
This is a precise summary; external reserves will NOT rise by magic if nothing is done to put things in place.
PoliticsRe: External Reserves Drop To $24bn by ephi123(f): 9:27am On Sep 23, 2016
Standing5:
I laugh in Naira defence. Nigerians produce next to nothing in terms of quantity and quality so we can't earn dollar forex to satisfy our unquenchable apetite for foreign goods. The habit of flooding fx market with cheap dollar by CBN in a bid to keep its price down A.K.A. Defending the Naira isn't sustainable any longer as petrodollar isn't flowing in in excess for now. Nigerians should start thinking of alternative exports.
How will Nigerians produce when there is no stable electricity? Nigerians should, Nigerians need to. What is the role of government please? I guess Nigerians should also make the policies, right?

I still can't fathom how some psychophants defend this government without shame. It eludes me. To me those are the true enemies of the country, not the 5 percenters. How can u cheer an obviously failed group of people to destruction even when u know they are dragging the rest of the country down with them. Then after u'll turn around and lay the blame on IPOB and ND. undecided
Exactly. Very visionless government, despite all the various loots they claim they have recovered, no one can see what was done with it, not to mention this. And yet we see the same group of people on nairaland defending every single thing the govt does, Buhari cannot be wrong, even when reality and all the indices say otherwise.

With Life, there is hope, This spells the [b]russian roulette[/b situation] of Nigeria and its national assets.. She is damned if she does but it's sure death if she doesn't..
I bet you wouldn't be saying what you wrote up there was it the previous government suggesting the sale of these assets. You all (you know yourselves) should continue calling black white, the day of reckoning will come.

By the way, NLNG is definitely not a non-performing asset, those in the industry know that.

Very soon you will say all of Buhari's foreign trips are not state sponsored.

It is really sad when people choose to trade their conscience. In the face of glaring wrong, they still choose to say black is white. Terrible shame.

When you are away from home for several days on business it is fair to be given opportunity to be accompanied by one or two family members especially your children.

It is not unusual for companies to fund family members of their executives to accompany them on business trips abroad.

The wife of the president is also in New York on official duties as Wife of the President; her two daughters appear to be accompanying her.

However even then, one or both of the daughters may be there on official invitation in their capacity as ambassadors of certain NGOs or charities.

On another note, Zahra's beauty is intimidating !
This has to be the most ridiculous response I have read today. Which companies? Anyway I doubt people like you have worked in any reputable company where standards are in place. Not your fault at all.
