Enice: fuuls also reason you know but the difference is that what comes out from a fuuls mouth is rubbish. First of all, Heathrow airport has as many as 2 or 3 major runaway. So in case of repairs, others can be used. Secondly, the aviation industry is one of the most safety regulated. Do you expect aeroplanes to be landing and taking off while buldozers are working just like the way it is done in road construction with a diversion sign saying turn left or right, slow down etc? Please get some sense or remove that hatred of Buhari from your mind so you can see clearly. Now on the construction of the runaway proper, what is used is concrete before asphalt is poured. Do you expect the concrete to take a day to cure So you can use it the next day? Unfortunately not everyone chooses to apply their sense of reasoning. You are a classic example of that. Bye Felicia. |

9jakohai: Heathrow has 2 runways, and a third runway is planned.
London also has two other airports at Stansted and Gatwick.
Abuja has one runway.
In a way....we are paying for years of bad planning. Abuja airport should have had 2 runways to begin with....and a proper railway link...plus a second airport. Yes I agree bad planning, but even if Heathrow had a single runway, they still would NOT close down the entire airport just for that purpose. For example the M25 as constantly busy as it is, has still been maintained and kept in shape without a full closure. Just doesn't make sense. They should be innovative abeg rather than this lazy man approach being taken. |

mayoor15: You mean do the right thing after 14 years, A runaway lifespan is 20 years and we should have done the maintenance work 2003, now we are just waking up 2017, do you know that the government budgeted 1bn for the repair and this so called Kaduna airport, we have to spend 1.1bn to upgrade it so that flight can be diverted to it, aside, Kaduna isn't safe and you expert foreign nationals to risk their lives...No way.... Exactly. But also Nigerians, why should the Nigerian people put their lives at risk due to this kind of nonsense? Yet they will be shouting investors are not coming into the country, mschew. |

kidman96: Idiot! What's Buhari got to do with this? Is there anything wrong in fixing bad run way. There is nothing wrong in fixing a bad runway, but it definitely can be done WITHOUT shutting down operations at the entire airport. People should rightfully blame Buhari because he appointed a Minister of Transport who doesn't know his left from his right. If he knew his job, and knew what international standards are involved in operating such airports, he won't be proposing such a useless suggestion of a full shut down. |

They can work gradually at night shifts or sumfin Thank goodness some people are still reasoning, rather than that paid agent ranting all over on the first page. Don't other airports all over the world do repairs? Has anyone ever heard of Heathrow closing down? |

Very good decision. In which normal country will an international airport be closed at all, not to mention for 6 good weeks. Like other international airports don't maintain their runways too Meanwhile that MMIA airport is a huge disgrace to this country |

The biggest and significant difference between these ancient times and today is disappointingly ingrained mental addiction to foreign tastes. Basically, it is the ability of Europeans, Arabs and others to convince Africans that if raw materials from their land is shipped out, manipulated, shined, painted or molded the way Africa used to shaped iron ore, terracotta or mummified royals; Africans would appreciate the same products more since they are imported as “refined”.
Africa has not woken up from colo-mentality while Asian countries are big producers of local products their people appreciate but are also exporters to outside countries. Scramble for Africa, still in the slumber stage, is now between western and Asian countries. European and American’s fiercest competitor in Africa today is China.
