Did you know. . . . . . that today is Elation Launch Day? In 1998, Carnival Cruise Lines inaugurated Elation, the first cruise ship to use a new propulsion system that pulls rather than pushes a vessel through the water. The 70,000 ton ship cost a mere $300 million, 1922: Mohandas Gandhi, the leader of the Indian Home Rule movement, is sentenced to six years' imprisonment for civil disobedience. 1940 - Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini met at the Brenner Pass in the Alps and agreed to form an alliance against France and the United Kingdom. 1925: Thousands of people are injured and 689 killed when a tornado, the worst in United States history to date, passes through Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. 1554: Princess Elizabeth, heir apparent to the throne in England, is imprisoned for suspected complicity in Wyatt's Rebellion against her half sister, Queen Mary I of England. ~~~ Today's Inspirational Quote: "Everyone is shy --- it is the inborn modesty that makes us able to live in harmony with other creatures and our fellows. Achievement comes not by denying shyness but, occasionally, by setting it aside and letting pride and perspiration come first." -- Kirkpatrick Sale |
Well, not sure if I should use this thread as a perfect example because some of the responses are just too funny. Anyway, it's this thread that got me thinking https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-248697.0.html I was reading some postings here on NL and could not help but notice that there are some Nairalanders who always have negative comments towards foreign posters. I'm just curious, why? I've got to admit that some "foreign" posters do get themselves tangled in troubles but a good number of them are posting great topics. However, some are quickly “turn” away. Fact, “foreigners" are here because NL has a lot to offer and its a fun (comedians - funny ppl) place - fi real. Just my 73¢ 1love |
