Every religion suffers some form of persection in Nigeria depending on the part of the country they find themselves. Unfortunately, leaders of other religions are not dubious enough to lie for funding and to seek asylum. These lies are where other countries get their statistics from which does not reflect the real situation on ground.

The fact that even after verification, people still can't find any rational explanations for it. In a country like Nigeria where religion is just another business opportunity to most, permit my scepticism.
