Following reports that went rife on news media few days ago that multiple award winning highlife act, Flavour is set to sue telecommunications brand, MTN for royalty claims and copyright infringement, the singer has since denied the claims. News filtered into the media space few days ago that Flavour, a Globacom ambassador and South African act, DJ Cleo are entangled in a huge royalty war with MTN. The duo were reportedly in dispute with the telecoms company for using their materials as ringtones and ring back tunes without remitting the proper sales data. According to a report by City Press, a South African news platform, Flavour and DJ Cleo have secured the services of copyright expert, Graeme Gilfillan. It was gathered Gilfillan began sending out separate requests for data from MTN, Vodacom and CCA since mid-December 2015. In his letters, Gilfillan says there has been ‘disquiet’ at the way the companies use a ‘three-month limited licence’ to sell ringback tones pertaining specifically to how mechanical royalties are accounted, reported and disclosed. Speaking with ERAVE through his representative, Flavour disclosed that “there is nothing of such because it doesn’t exist”. The Court of Appeal in Lagos reserved judgement in a suit filed before it by former beauty queen, Ibinabo Fiberesima, challenging the judgement of a Lagos High Court which sentenced her to five years imprisonment for the death of one Dr. Giwa Suraj yesterday, January, 28, 2016. The appellant, Ibinabo Fiberesima, was sentenced to five years imprisonment by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi for reckless driving which caused the death of a staff of a Lagos State Hospital, Dr. Suraj, in an auto accident along the Lekki-Epe expressway, Lagos. At the resumed hearing of the appeal which held yesterday, the appellate court presided over by Justice U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu (Mrs.) reserved judgement in the appeal after counsel of both parties adopted their written addresses. The court also ordered that the appellant, Ibinabo Fiberesima, who was absent in court, to appear before it when judgement is to be delivered. It was also gathered that the date will be communicated to the parties. Ibinabo Fiberesima had earlier been awarded a N100, 000 fine by an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, but the then Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Supo Sasore (SAN), felt unsatisfied with the judgement. Multiple reports have it that popular Nollywood actor, Femi Branch was recently charged to the Ikeja Magistrate court for reportedly issuing a dud cheque. The bulky thespian allegedly issued a dud cheque of N1.5m to De Santo Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos after staying in the hotel for several months. It was gathered the management of the hotel reported the case to the Nigeria Police Force which led to the subsequent arrest of Femi Branch. The actor was paraded at the Ikeja Magistrate Court on Friday, November 20, 2015 where he was later granted a bail of N500,000 due to self-recognition. Few hours after the celebrated launch of Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh’s official website, www.tontodikehent.com, the site has been shut down. A visit to the website few minutes ago returned an error message indicating a loading error. According to web experts, the loading error currently displayed on the website implies that the thespian has exceeded her bandwidth limit. It will be recalled Tonto Dikeh launched her official website yesterday, Wednesday, December 16, 2015. According to the actress, the new website will constantly be updated with news about her work, upcoming movies, music and her charity work with the Tonto Dikeh Foundation and getting a glimpse of her life like never before Born on the 9th of June 1985 into a family of seven from the Ikwerre tribe in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, the alluring artiste bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in Petrochemical Engineering from the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. 1 Share
