success1smyn: Do you even understand subsidy at all?
The NBS are not giving us the true picture of things as 1trn in 2025 is not equal to 1trn in 2023.
Oga I think I understand Subsidy,I live in the UK, we have loads of subsidy here, some long term, some short term. Now back to your response,I sometimes feel sorry for Nigerians cos indeed they deserve the kind of leaders they have. Here is a challeneg for you and everyone you know, name just onenation in this earth where you can import petrol, land it in Nigeria and sell for under N1500 to N2k in Nigeria, abeg you name one.
israelmao: Obj put the three refineries on sales before the expiration of his tenure in 2007 only for Yara'adu to come and reverse that worthy decision.
Nah sooo,Imagine if dangote had bought these refinaries.ANyway we have grown beyound greed, now its stewpidness
ConDawah: Who says we're still paying subsidy? Oga, this is free market. You can import fuel from pluto if you like, but be sure you are not getting paid to sell
Ok I put this as a challenge to you and everyone you know, I give you from now till the end of the month, Name one country from which you can import fuel from and be able to sell it in Nigeria under N1500,I hope this is an adult conversation, so go on look for any country where you can import petrol from and sell at pump price Under N1500.
Misterone: These are sensational news with no substance! How do you compare two unequal things? Why compare 2023 with 2024 and 2025 using naira when you know our currency was devalued? We also know that the commodity is priced in dollars.
frankson1: Buhari didn't have any courage because subsidy was payed in his entire 8 years of ruling.
President Tinubu made that announcement because there was no provision for subsidy payment.
Get your facts right ✅️.
ANd you believe this lobish about subsidy removal, wen PMB leaves office E go shock Una, ask yourself, how they manage to sele petrol bellow N2k if its importerd from brazil and the USA without subsidy
Godmercy: That is very brave movement but where are the money for the same subsidiaries remove the money have already shears among all the arms robbers politician looters calling themselves representative senator governor or president
Ask yourself this question, how do they manage to sell below N2k if they import fuel from teh USA without paying for subsidy
SmartPolician: As a Nigerian business man, the one I will go for depends on the interest rate and other repayment terms and conditions.
However, accessing foreign facilities from one's home country will attract more cross-border taxes and deductions than dealing directly with a local bank. This partly answers the one I'll go for.
I do nt know how exposed you are, read my question again,do you think all those importeers live in Nigeria? They and thier families are resident in the Uk, US and UAE.SO to them the HSBC, the Barclays and the AMB are thier local banks, so re answer these questions
SmartPolician: Bros, our petrol importers source money from the local market and even had to depend on the CBN at some point to get FX at a cheaper rate. As for that second part of your argument, you are making assumptions. Our annual foreign remittance doesn't exceed $20 billion while our annual federal budget hovers around $50 billion. Besides, there's no connection between the two.
Importers are business people who source FX to bring PMS into Nigeria. Nigerian banks can finance such imports. The kind of amount that Afrexibank or AfDB will finance are those kinds of projects that Dangote handles that run into billions of dollars by an individual. Those importers don't need such money to import PMS as individuals.
Finally, the government should give them a 10-year ultimatum to build their local refineries. By that time, 100k bpd BUA refinery will be ready. If they fail to come together and build their refineries, they will impose heavy import duty on them. We cannot keep wasting our FX on products we have the capacity to refine at home.
I know and I am not disputing this,But let me tell you something, if Barclays bank in teh London agrees to give you loan facility compared to 1st bank in Nigeria which would you take??
SmartPolician: Importation is a problem. They are wasting our FX on a product we can produce and refine locally.
You think? Vast majority of these lot sours their FX outside of Nigeria, all those noise you hear about our FX is all damn thrash.I can use myself as an Example, do you think I buy forex from Nigeria if I want to import? If you live abroad or if you know anyone that does, ask them how they send money to Nigeria via Mobile apps, then check who owns all these apps. The amount remited to Nigeria via these apps which are forex bound is more than the total budget of Nigeria.Im going to stop there
nah so,even though this comes from statisitc available to you and to all Nigerians in a government webssite that you can quickly check, but no, as a lazzzzy yut U wont check,
SO for those of you shouting THEY HAVE REMOVED SUBSIDY,Una eyes don open, How can you import petrol from those listed countries without subsidizing it?
Lovelink1991: She Claims Lekki Boys Na Gays (Agayge)!
A lady who was invited by one of those lekki big boys has cried out over what she discovered in the house of the guy which made her to shockingly run home.
See this one wey look like Eliphant, so guy gree true true carry you or allow you broad day light come him house for lekki, day time wen eye no dirty ? madam U lie na views yu dey find
Godfullsam: I wonder why dangote is still importing crude oil and Nigeria is still exporting crude oil at the same time.
Why can the Nigerian government sell enough crude to dangote? It will be a win - win game since they are selling to him at the international rate and it will ease the pressure on dollar.
Nigeria do not own the crude, we are in joint venture with he exploring companies. They decide who and when and how they sell
Gerrard59: Constant electricity to industries is the solution, but the gas - source of electricity - has to be cheap as well. Interest rates, too, have to be low. There is no way Nigerian entrepreneurs can out-do Chinese and Indian investors who possess capital with 3% interest rates.
The person I know who got into prison It was the wife that packed his suitcase They both served time., he did not know nada first time traveler recently remarried after 1st wife died.
Others had near misses..things in bibles, portraits and in the sole of sandals.
My dad would carry entire suitcases for ppl back in the day till we saw he helped someone carry loads of Bibles. He didn't think nothing of it even though we warned him ,till one day he saw on the news that drugs were concealed in the Bible covers.last time he carried anything for anyone.
I don't carry unless I'm buying it myself. Even those who are sent to drop off stuff for you to carry will sneak in other things to see if you'd comply.
ProudlyLagos: muumu……who be this one sef? I quoted someone else who made a warped narrative about SS and SE having oil resources and I corrected him and I posted the list of oil producing which clearly show that SW is the second region that produces the highest amount after SS and you jumped on my mention to start Capping nonsense and i asked you to post your own stats and here you are crying on my mentions and deflecting and talking about my state of origin? Pls how does that come into this context? Like you can see on my moniker, I’m proudly from Lagos and I don’t know why you clowns always feel intimidated by that like, Yoruba are all from everywhere else but Lagos, is Lagos not in Yorubaland? And what if I’m from Ondo? Is Ondo and Lagos not both in yorubaland Sharing same language, culture, heritage and even bother
Now pls tell us what you mean that SS is the only region that produces crude oil and like we can see on the stats I posted that Ondo and Lagos which is in SW are also on the list so can you explain to us and give us your own stats so we can all verify…..btw prouldy Lagos
I already told you my states, I am half Deltan and Half Rivers .Just cos you have oil discovered in your state.Abeg dont 4get Oil was discovered in the North too .Do you know where the Oil wells are in Lagos?lets see how conversant you are with this subject cos I do,you have just 4 attributed to Lagos.DO you even know their locations ?
Gerrard59: Many factories aren't producing to full capacity or are moribund. What we need are patient loans, aka low interest rates, for businesses; cheap and consistent natural gas supply, aka constant electricity. There are many more like land reforms, security, roads etc., but looking at the likes of Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, the first two are where sorely lack to be able to compete in the global market.
I believe once we can solve the problem of power aka Electric, the rest will take carte of itself. Just this one singular problem, Power even insecurity will take care of itself cos Nigerians are very resilient people. We some times under estimate and rate ourselves tooo low.
ProudlyLagos: muumu, I’m not interested in your tears. You made a warped narrative saying the SS and SE as more oil resource and I made my point by correcting that narrative but still went further to tell me, aside the 5 state in SE, there are other parts that make up SE and I’m now asking you to provide us the list and the amount of crude produced in SE……so why are you still crying instead of giving us the list?
if we check very well ,you probably from one village in Ondo state ,where did I mention the South East? what has the south East got to do with anyone from the South South? All the crude being sold in Nigeria are from the SS, so why are you mentioning SS and SE in one context when it comes to crude OIL? or are you high on cheap ewedu? If you know you are man enough stop hiding under this user name and come out with your real user name to have an argument.
ProudlyLagos: yes, your 5plot of land, the size of oyo state…….now pls show us the right list and let know the amount of crude oil generated by your region
it might intrest you to know that Edo, Delta ,Bayelsa, Rivers ,cross River and Akwa Ibom are all South South and the Niger Delta, so what has SE got to do with this as to whereI am from. If you must know I am from Delta and Rivers, so my Region is the Niger Delta, so your question .So of my brothers from the west have this outdated mentality that once you are not Hausa and Yoruba you are def Igbo, and its quite embarrassing. again is people with these school of thought just live in their Huts and never venture out of their villages to understand that vastness of Nigeria.
