Richhard:Nah not in Nigeria though. But just check the specs to see what fits into what you want, some even record unto cloud |
curiobling:Use clean tap water. Mix with concentrate, nothing do you. |
Richhard:Try temu.ng |
9icetoo:I am pretty sure you got the gist. I am not a car mechanic, however I'm a DIY enthusiast and a Fluid Engineer. If you have even a basic Scan tool that can program, you will notice there is a battery and BDM programming. The thing is people like you don't listen and don't learn and everything is a joke to you. Now you are trying to sound sarcastic when you aint even remotely close. To your question Every car that has a smart charging unit should be programmed if not the charge unit will charge the New battery as if its the old one, this is the simple reason you should. Personal Experience's cars need a full charge of 12,50 plus V to enable programming fru the OBD port, if your formal battery can only reach 12.10V which is Ok to drive ,your smart charging unit is learned to charge to just that. When you eventually buy a newer battery, its still gong to be charged up to12,10v,so OBD programmer needs minimum of 12.50 Volts to do anything, at this point you wont be able to do anything. But anyway what do I know sef.Guy good luck |
jceesquare:If you bothered to read my respond instead throwing your dummy outta the Pram you would have seen two well Enlightening links that warns about what will and can happen if you do not re program your car ECU after replacing a battery. It might be new knowledge to you. |
jceesquare:Ok well done Engineer with Torque wrench on hand. I wont advice or take any car of mine to any mechanic without 1 Torque wrench 2 Car scanner Unless its purely a mechanical problem that has nothing to do with pressure or seals. I would be worried about the un uniform pressure both bodies produces .In the case of valve cover and its gasket etc. Not everything is expensive ,its all about doing stuff the right way. DO I need a torque wrench to tighten my Wheels on maybe not, but we al know its a 100 foot pound. Its a high torque that we hardly achieve with our bare hands. Do I need a torque to tighten my head bold between my Engine block and Top cylinder head, hell yeah and in the sequence designated in the workshop manual. The torque wrench is not the most expenssive tool, 9ja mecho have far more epenssive tools. |
9icetoo:Nah you don't, you talking BS, you just went to do the research and realize the importance of the torque wrench is and you came back trying to be smart, Nah we not having that, Stick to your conventional ITK and crack on.Oga stick to the cars people give you to sell and stop deriving into stuff you know next to nothing about plz. Now you are here talking about me saying reprograming of car after change of battery, Is this the level you are with> really? or you never got the time to google this or did you run outta data? You like to talk big on cars and you know nothing next to the tech of cars, answer to your question is YES Only Quacks don't, once again I stand to be corrected, I challenge any Auto Electrician or Mechanic to prove me otherwise.Since you are too lazy read here https://batteryspotlight.com/do-i-need-to-reprogram-my-car-after-battery-replacement/ and https://batterytools.net/do-you-have-to-reset-car-computer-after-replacing-battery/ |
9icetoo:From all these you haven't got a clue about Engines. I stated there Boldy That any mechanic that opens and close an Engine without a torque wrench is a Quack, Do you see any of them saying anything?? I don't think you have ever held or seen a Torque wrench.it goes beyond belief that you are engaging in these conversation you know next to nothing about. A torque wrench cost less than N30k in todays money. All cars have torque specifications. Lazy mechanic fail and wont learn how to set a torque wrench. This is the case for smoking Engines and braking studs. If you insist someone should rebuild an Engine without a torque wrench that I insist you stop commenting on Cars. You talking about running just fine on more than 100s of cars rebuilt, I laugh. Why do you think people complain that their cars consume so much fuel and are looking for fuel efficient cars when in turn they don't even know what that means. People who belong to same school of thought like you are the ones who will buy a new car battery into their 2015 car and wont bother to reprogram the car to re configure that charging ability. Look I have met a lot of mechanic who actually know what they are doing. The have the required tool like that young man who came to free my range rover in 2018 when I got stuck in shagamu on here .Check rad autos on here, there are few good Auto techs on Nairaland. For enlightment purpose, your car Engine is meant to be tightened to its torque specification and in a sequence. If you do that ,your Engine compression will go back to factory spec. |
wow |
cutefy:Make we watch, dis one go tuff pass Chinese film |
TimeManager:E don start, but wetin dem wan do to him ?? |
jceesquare:ANSWER IS OVERWHEMLY YES Any one who rebuilds an Engine, Any sort of Engine without a Torque Wrench is a Quack, I challenge any Mechanic on Nairaland to prove me wrong. |
jceesquare:Like I said Earlier, you are over flogging this check Engine light issue hence I said no logic in this convo. |
jceesquare:Not at all, I prefer logic.Im one of them people who will agree ASAP with someone else's opinion once it flows with logic. |
Kingpele:I swear down ahaha |
Pathokpo:No they wont, they already revers sanctions to Canada I think |
Gajagojo:No one has the ability to grind peanut yet ahahah ![]() |
9icetoo:The proof of road worthiness is on paper only to be enforced to extort motorist. No one does the actual test, if not 60% of the commercial vehicles on the road wont be on the road. With all this So an engine with worn out camshafts, lobes, cylinder walls or sleeves, worn piston rings or pistons, worn main bearings, journals, how can your car pass MOT? with all these you just listed ? |
9icetoo:you are not making sense,There is no logic in what you just wrote. |
spencekat:Simple answer, He knows Wike will be irrelevant after the 4 years. |
jceesquare:Nop, What it means in an Engineering term is literarily, it is dead, it wont turn over ie a seized Engine is DEAD. Things like Crack block Broken shafts Broken or cracked Con Rods. etc then ur Engine is dead |
9icetoo:You are over flogging this check Engine light. All I said was a simple and short statement of fact. If your car is above 2015 i n the Uk and the rest of the west, it will fail MOT if it shows a check Engine light. So something so simple as your car out of Timing will fail your MOT. |
9icetoo:Well, you need a certificate every year to prove your car is road worthy to drive in the west if your car is private no exception and if commercial is 6 months, No exceptions. How is this an assumption? If Nigerians as mechanics have tools as simple is torque. wrenches, Unseized Engines should be easy like ABC.If there is nothing broken inside an Engine. Then you got nothing to worry about. |
9icetoo:Another Assumption, The word Hard water is being used loosely here lol. I think you need to go back to my earlier explanation of what hard water means. There most be Gypsum and Limestone present. These react with natural water to form calcium /chlorine which hardens water. I did put the equilibrium equation in my other post up there. If you are a chemistry student you can write an equation to soften the water. Im a fluid Engineer, not a chemical Engineer. PS, think of soapy water. |
Richhard:Bross U need to start with your cabin air filter. |
curiobling:ANother assumption from you there, where on Earth did you learn that Nigerian Tap water which is rated very clean has Chlorine? YOu seem not to Understand what Chlorine is. FYI Chlorine is a chemical element with the symbol Cl and atomic number 17. It is a toxic, greenish-yellow gas at room temperature and is part of the halogen group in the periodic table. Chlorine is widely used for water disinfection, helping to kill harmful microorganisms in drinking water and swimming pools, and it also serves as a bleaching agent in various industrial processes From this knowledge upstairs you can gather that Chlorine is in the US and UK waters not your Bore hole in Nigeria hence Distilled water is advised in those place, I realy hope this makes sense. |
jceesquare:This was the reason I said Tap water, do you have salt water running from TAps? answer NO, The problem with Lekki is Ammonia contamination with ground water hence the rotten Egg smell. and to your question the answer is NO. the 50/50 ready mix is water plus concentrate, clean water. But I'm sure you got the gist now though. In Nigeria too much fake, I will trust mixing water with concentrate in my Engine instead of 50/50 ready Mix, I don't know what Nigerians had mixed. I bought 20 ltr of Concentrate from the UK,I use it for al my car PS regards bringing gun to a knife fight that was funny I am a fluid Engineer so this is my bread and butter if that makes any sense. |
jceesquare:The problem with you lot is this, you assume, even when someone is trying hard to enlighten you on a basic thing as Hard water GO AND DO THE RESEARCHAND FIND OUT WHAT hard water means.HARD WATER FORMS SCALE WHEN BOILED, DO those living in Lagos have to Descale their kettles Bro use google man, this conversation is degrading at this point no pons meant but this is basic science.Let me help you here since you are too lazy to searchWith hard water, soap solutions form a white precipitate (soap scum) instead of producing lather, because the 2+ ions destroy the surfactant properties of the soap by forming a solid precipitate (the soap scum). A major component of such scum is calcium stearate, which arises from sodium stearate, the main component of soap: 2 C17H35COO− (aq) + Ca2+ (aq) → (C17H35COO)2Ca (s) Hardness can thus be defined as the soap-consuming capacity of a water sample, or the capacity of precipitation of soap as a characteristic property of water that prevents the lathering of soap. Synthetic detergents do not form such scums. Hard water also forms deposits that clog plumbing. These deposits, called "scale", are composed mainly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2), and calcium sulfate (CaSO4).[3] Calcium and magnesium carbonates tend to be deposited as off-white solids on the inside surfaces of pipes and heat exchangers. This precipitation (formation of an insoluble solid) is principally caused by thermal decomposition of bicarbonate ions but also happens in cases where the carbonate ion is at saturation concentration.[9] The resulting build-up of scale restricts the flow of water in pipes. In boilers, the deposits impair the flow of heat into water, reducing the heating efficiency and allowing the metal boiler components to overheat. In a pressurized system, this overheating can lead to the failure of the boiler.[10] The damage caused by calcium carbonate deposits varies according to the crystalline form, for example, calcite or aragonite.[11] |
Islie:Now it makes sense, this is why the Pounds shot from 1900 to 2000 in one day. |
9icetoo:so basically people go to scrap yards in the US and buy dead Engines right? You do realize the Engine is the most mechanical part of your car.The Engine on its own if faulty does not bring up check Engine light. Can i ask you something, Do you know what it means to pronounce an Engine dead? |
9icetoo:In the US and UK yes we have hard water due to the treatment given to Tap water, however in Nigeria there is no Hard water from chlorine have fresh water hence we can drink it direct when its clean, In Nigeria check your electric kettle there is no scales in it that's the hardness we get in the west where you have to descale you kettle every now and then. Buying Distilled water i waste of money, if you are really kin just boil your water and collect steam condescends |
