I totally agree. For those who know my battle with them, can you believe I'm yet to receive the remark of my IELTS written on April 30...4 months later. I have written several mails to no avail. I even went to their office in Port Harcourt. They are looking for my remarked result. Thanks to a friend (on this forum) who recommended PTE. I could have waited in vain.

Australia generally is one of the most expensive country to live in the world. This depends largely on where you live. For example, Sydney cost of living is huge. What kills here majorly is the cost of rents. And even at that, it depends on where you live in Sydney.Minimum wage in Australia currently is AUD 16.87/hrMinimum wage in Canada currently is CAD 11/hr

Employment Situation

Regarding employment for prospective overseas Engineers, I would say it depends on your skills and your experience. Some people were employed directly from Nigeria to work here even without PR. I know of a Mechanical Engineer that got job 7 days after he arrived and some 1-month or two etc. However, do spend several months before they get their dream jobs. Anyway, things have changed a bit because market isa bit flooded particularly for Telecom Engineers. Although there is this ‘local experience palaver’ which most Australian employers value so much. It was when I got in that I discovered why they value it so much. Different work ethics is one of the reasons. If you have worked in places like the UK,US etc. You won’t find it difficult as such when looking for jobs. In Nigeria, we are jack of all trades so to say, but here thereis clear delineation of duties. In some cases, you are expected to focus on your area only. Back in Nigeria, I was doing planning, project engineering, support etc. but when I got here,I focus only on designing, less stressful so to say.
Having said that, there are skills and experience in Telecom engineering that are not in demand such RF,CORE and BSS. It willbe easier for someone with transmission (Not Microwave) experience coupled with IT to get something than a RF Engineer or Core Engineer.I know few Nigerians working in Oil and gas, IT, Construction industry and also Telecomms. Generally, the strategy is to have Australia standard CV, relevant certifications and not minding starting afresh or do an internship and possibly volunteering jobs. Taking up a volunteering job will fetch you Australian experience.If you educate me more on your skills and experience, I will be able to advise you. Meanwhile, you could check the two major job websites:www.seek.com.auandwww.indeed.com.au

@Bkings,

Just put her name on your Visa application as your de-facto relationship, then try to get a Document to back it up, you will state in your application that is is not joining you.

When she wishes to Join you later, you will complete and sign form 919 (Nomination of Student Dependant) for her and send for her to apply for her Visa.

BKings:
Justwise, please take this man and bring back bosslady. Meanwhile, thanks Lawland and aleori for your clear response. But suppose I don't include her in my visa application but later want to do it after the visa is out, any hope? I am asking this because I may not make up my mind too soon, and folks there say 9ja girls are scarce, meaning I have to decide here
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by erictack203(m): 5:54am On Aug 17, 2015
Their 1k-2k stuff is not compulsory, it's an added service if you want. Goajo will only charge you 150USD for Admission and if you used them for your Visa application and further services in OZ, you will be charged 1k dollars. Hope this helps.

@NNBB2012.

Thanks a lot for this advice and assistance. I grab everything now. May God grant all of us our heart desires and help us to complete our programs successfully. Amen.

NNBB2012:
It is only work experience after your study that counts for the purpose of points. After your study, you would have to do your registration once you meet English requirement. All you need then is to gather all your points from , age, qualification, Australia study and English . I think all these would be enough without experience for your PR. And you might probably get a job as soon as you finished your registration and therefore get sponsorship. This is the reason why it is good to do a course that is in demand if one has PR in mind after study.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by erictack203(m): 12:41pm On Aug 15, 2015
@NNBB2012.

Thanks a lot Boss, so if I Studied Nursing in Australia, I will have to apply for Post Study Work Stream After Graduation to get Work Exp as a Nurse for 2yrs and there after b4 I can apply for points towards a PR right?

I will also like to ask, if as a Student I am doing part-time work while Studying my Degree Program probably in Aged Care and Nursing Homes, can these Jobs be counted toward work exp to achieve points towards PR after graduation?

NNBB2012:
Studying a course is not enough to get Australian PR, one has to earn the points to be eligible. If you have the required assessment and also the points, of course, you will be eligible. It wise to do everything necessary to boost one's points such as studying in the regional area etc.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by erictack203(m): 10:34am On Aug 15, 2015
Can a Graduate with Australian Degree in Nursing Qualify for PR after Graduation without any Major work exp? And also, can such Graduate apply for State Sponsorship in any Regional Area that has Nursing on their Skill Demand List?

alaoeri:
After paying part of sch fees which is AUD8000 & other dues, you will have to pay AUD3000 which is abt #450,000 as deposit for your packaged course, you will be given COE you won't be able to switch to another course once in Australia.
Note am talking abt Diploma in Nursing packaged with degree in Deakin Uni in Chisholm which am aware don't know abt other institutions oh.
The Diploma is 1.5year while the Degree is 2.5years making 4years.
Next intake is February, first semester runs from February to May, second semester runs from July to October, you have the grace of July to September to pay for the second semester, if the person is very handworking & can do menial jobs there is possibility of raising the second semester fee, something close or maybe little assistant from home before the due date.

You have to go for a course which is under CSOL not just any course & at least 2years this will enable you for 2years post graduate visa. The main thing is to get to Australia first see things for yourself & set your goals, you may be lucky to be sponsore by an employer before your program runs out or you can arrange for PR while studying that's why i do advice ppl to check very well for the course they are applying for & also have a plane B i.e get your naija certificate, transcript & other necessary docs try the PR thing while undergoing your diploma program who knows you maybe fortunate.

God bless you, he should make solid inquiries or else I will join ppl to console him when the Sch wack his 12k. Oyibo can Scam sm1 legitimately, them go de eat your money and dem go de speak sweet English for you. Pls be careful and be guided, seek for a Sch with clear refund policy.

I may sound like am joking but am telling him the fact.

Ifexsco:
If it is refundable....why is it called NON REFUNDABLE? Bros, pls inquire from the sch what that non refundable means....to avoid stories dat touch.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by erictack203(m): 6:46pm On Aug 14, 2015
Ok yes. This is fine and correct! The Student must go tru an Agent for Packaged Offer. Chisholm Liaise with La Trobe and Deaken Uni for their packaged Offers.

alaoeri:
If the Diploma in Nursing is package towards degree (Deakin Uni) it will be treated as SVP as for their Diploma & Advanced Diploma in engineering for international students it is treated under SVP.

@scrollmeout,

If you apply to Chisholm directly, you will not be qualified for SVP, Chisholm's only has Diploma in Nursing and it's non SVP.

You are welcome. Am loyal, na una go help me pay my Sch fees for Australia once una get PR and start working. Bcus 4yrs nor be beans. grin

scrollmeout:
Thanks a lot Erictack and Alaoeri for your helpful feedback.
Alaoeri, i saw that you you can apply directly on their website. However, i need to point out that she will get only 10 points for education then for a Diploma course

Hello guys,

Erictack203, i sight you. I'm interested in helping my younger sis secure admission in Australia for a course that'll help her obtain PR later. At the same time, i do not want to break the bank for this as i need money to settle myself. Nursing would have been a better choice but for the high tuition and the other requirements. I'm now looking to Masters in Health Science or Public Health, so as to qualify for Occupational Health / Environmental Health officer.

I see AUD 22,400 for University of Western Sydney. Based on your experience, can you advise on a better (cheaper) choice?

I now understand it unique to schools.
