Let me clear this misconception about cultism in ABU. First let me say I'm not only a graduate of ABU, I was privileged to be born there and spent my entire youth on campus. My parents were academics there. Occultism used to be an issue way way way back. I remember those days faintly. I'm talking in the early 90's. But in the last almost twenty years I have not seen or heard of a single cult related activity. Seriously. I had this same problem when I told a friend who graduated in the West that I'm unfamiliar with Occultism and he would not believe. I don't blame him, it's hard to imagine but it's true. ABU has many problems but Occultism is not one of them I assure you.

I don't usually do this but let me correct this time around. Personnel as a word is already plural please. There is no such thing as personnels in English language. This might help someone going in for an oral interview tomorrow. Others words similarly misunderstood are furniture, ammunition, luggage and information, all of which are plural as they are.

Sometimes I wonder. About the extent religion affects coexistence. Recently I told my wife that I will not employ a Muslim man who feels obligated to pray every few hours, to work at my security stand post! For goodness sake all the robbers or kidnappers need to do is to wait for the prayer time to operate. So while Abdul is out praying I'm at the mercy of robbers! So what exactly am I paying him for? To pray? We need to be thinking now haba! I was in Israel a few months back. I have read and I'm convinced that there is so much value in rest, particularly that weekly rest but when it becomes a law we are no different from the pharisee of Jesus's day. Have you imagined how much of a task it must have been to rescue an animal trapped in a pit? It was totally forbidden to do that kind of work on the sabbath or say pluck ears of corn in the field like Jesus's disciples did! That's how I saw a lady that could not pass her biology and chemistry in O Level doing auxiliary nurse in a private hospital. I was shocked because of the danger she poses to innocent patient.

She felt low seeing me because I know her root. The chemistry and biology, she didn't enrol again and latter went to do nursing.

How did the doctor screen her before accepting her into the hospital, I don't know. So the doctor should be a quack too for accepting someone without basic O level.

Ever since then. I don't allow those so called auxiliary nurses to administer drugs, injections or treatment on me.

Abi? Do so at your peril. Just imagine giving a monkey gun to shoot. No one is safe! Some of them cannot even speak English! But some patients are bold sha abi is this one ignorance now I don't know.

Hmmm na wa O. Ordinary paracetamol abi? That drug that can finish the liver Kia Kia with a simple overdose. I'm baffled how people see that drug as ordinary. On another note can you see the difference in competencies? Your sister is a trained nurse and that's why she did the right thing. Arrest the bleeding and then give the tetanus toxoid 0.5ml Stat. That simple injury you had has ended many lives O.

It was 2008,when busola visited an hospital for abortion and d doctor denied her saying it was impossible. But this so called auxiliary nurse invited her to her house and charged her for #20,000. She used her body for experiment she gave up d ghost during d process. D said nurse deposited her in d mortuary and lied that her husband was in Germany and she had miscarried before d woman fled. It took her parents some days before her body was discovered but nothing can be done.
This reminds me of ma younger brother that had an accident and was rushed to a near by hospital. The nurse on duty used a cotton wool on a fresh wound and d wound hasn't been healed since then whereas he is a goalkeeper and cannot dive on his right side
There was a day I had a minor accident in ma friend shop and I was bleeding,ma friend suggested dat I should visit d chemist own by auxiliary nurse beside him which I decline without wasting time.it was ma sister a trained nurse dat gave me anti tart anus and she stopped d bleeding.

That's how the other day I read the response of a nurse who answered a patients question on sulphonamide reactivity. The person wanted to know if it was safe to take Gentamicin sulphate since he had been told he reacts to sulphonamides. And a person introducing herself as a nurse warned him not to take it no matter who prescribed it! It was on yahoo answers. Just imagine! What you don't know why mislead people? It's sounds simple but just imagine. To the general literare public I have this to say. I believe that you are educated when you understand professional competencies and know where to go and whom to ask to get the right answers. For example when it comes to matters about drugs, medications, prescriptions etc, I always feel safest cross checking my prescriptions with a pharmacist. Life's lessons have taught me. Don't gamble with your life.

Helo Dudes am so ashamed of myself right now. I always hated weekends and often do overtime at work even when my boss screams "No payment for Overtime"...

I don't take off days even when I had to be on site late at night. I don't see myself as a workaholic because an average black man doesn't like work. Not because of the money either (though I will love to quit if a better offer springs up and am not relenting in the search)...but just to erase my mind off temptations. I spend my Sundays at my sister's house so that the kids will keep me preoccupied.

I am a strong advocate of #NOsexB4Marriage...Although during my University days I had smitten more kity kats than most guys will ever dream of. I had a re-orientation during my service year and took up the tag #Abstinence...I try to limit my discussions and interactions with the opposite sex, I don't approve of excessive touching and I preoccupy my thoughts with work..

Sundays are the worst days "no work"...so I am always extra careful and often stay glued to my routines....the firm I worked with just handed over a secondary school to her clients on the 23rd of last month and those of us who were immersed in the project and saw it to fruition were given 2 weeks break and a paltry sum as bonus.

2 weeks! That was where my problem started. First I travelled to stay with my parents spent three days wasn't comfortable because that was the neighbourhood I grew up, the ladies there may still think a leopard doesn't change its spot...I left when I saw so many temptations and green lights...I went to my sister's house and it's just the same thing because I have also tested some of the kity kats from the flats below...then my cousin persuaded me to come to portharcourt I haven't seen him in a decade.

When I got to PH I told my cousin of my new stand and he said "whatever rocks your boat"... The next two days, we had fun bought some item until ****** showed up ...she was my cousin's friend. She was not a threat and she doesn't even dress hot. So I let down my guard whenever she visits. She cooked, we ate and I thought perhaps she was one of my cousin's numerous GFS.

Two days ago, my cousin told me they are going to watch Nigeria match in a bar. I am not a football fan,Tennis rocks my boat. So I preoccupied my self with a movie. About an hour later she came back and told me my cousin and his crew are cracking too many stuffs and she is no longer comfortable (My cousin is a Med doc. But he smokes at least a packet of B&H everyday + or minus other additives). I said okay. She went to lie on the bed and later I joined her. The apartment is a mini flat and the sitting room is tiled. Just a mattress no duvet so we slept on the same mattress. Truth be told I could not remember anything until I saw myself shooting fluid in a latex material. Everything vanished from my eyes I was filled with hate. The next morning I had my bath, called my cousin and was shocked when he told me he was already @ work I carried my bag and the lady quickly took her shower and left. I went straight to the hospital gave him the key to his apartment. I had already told him my boss asked me to rush down......I left PH....sad....this morning I woke up feeling sad. The memory with the lady that night keeps occupying my mind and she even sent a text that "she loves me because I am cool headed, polite and handsome"....I was further peeved by her subsequent messages. Now I am just ashamed of Myself...and am still asking; how did it happen why was I not reasonable enough?...well I have learnt my lesson..."Emotions are stronger than Knowledge"

For example you introduce yourself as being from Kaduna and the next thing is they tag you a hausa man. We know that Hausa in Kaduna are just about 30%. In fact it may be much less. The whole of Southern Kaduna has numerous distinct tribes of people which bear no similarity whatsoever to hausa. I know this because I not only speak the language but have spent the most of my life in Zaria.

Everything is not solved by prayer. Nigerians are not a safety conscious people. I drove by that car yesterday along games village road. If you find out what caused that accident, you may be shocked. That road is not a bad road.

Sometime today I took a bike from Mararaba junction heading to Aso.
We've covered about 40% of the journey when I heard the "click click" sound of a broken chain. The okada guy stopped,inspected the bike and advised me to take another bike as his can't make the rest of the trip.

After a while, one okada guy came along,I waved him down and asked him to take me to my destination.
I informed him that I bargained 100 naira with the first dude so they should negotiate the price.
The first dude asked him to take 60naira and give him 40naira since he(new okada guy) will cover most of the distance.

The new okada guy just looked at the broken chain and said something in hausa which neither of us (both of us were Christians and southerners) understood.

But from his gesticulation I deduced he was asking me to give the whole sum to the first okada rider.
I demonstrated to him to be sure of what he meant and he nodded in affirmation. I was puzzled at this act of kindness and generosity especially because it was geared towards a different religion and tribe.
Thereafter,the Hausa,muslim okada rider took me to my destination without charge.


I put this little story up here to make you tribal and religious bigots understand something; Nigeria is not one,that may be true. But the division is not across ethnic or religious lines.
The boundary is between the thieving elites and the suffering commoners.
That's why an Akpabio will be supporting a Saraki.

So before you throw jabs at that man because of his religion and tribe,understand that he is also a victim of the situation.

Yes. I understand what you experienced. Being one born and brought up in core north. I have seen even better. Generally speaking, the hausa and related tribes tend to be very sincere and straightforward I tell you. It's that simplistic nature some southerners tend to mistake for foolishness or stupidity. My brother bashed one of thems car from behind terribly. I was just coming in from Lagos at the time so I knew what to expect. The guys just looked, and said we thank God and accepted my brothers apology without a fuss and left, shikena. Unfortunately this same simplicity can make it easy for them to be indoctrinated and become selfless efficient suicide bombers. Which Emeka will agree to tie bomb on his neck and die? They will rather make the bomb and market it to those who want to go and die. Or is it the Yoruba man who is busy bragging that he is the smartest most intelligent man in the world, who likes to enjoy life with merriment and colour that you will tell to hang bomb on his neck? Fear no go gree am seff. This simplicity also gives the hausa big advantage in politics. The whole mass of people will rally around one candidate with little coercion whereas their I-too-know counterparts, all smarter-than-everyone opponents would be uncountable each unwilling to play the fool and step down for the other. I read a post on my Facebook page were someone said if Islam is indeed a religion of peace, he wonders why extremists are not extremely peaceful.
This is indeed a food for thought for anyone whose mind is still somewhat intact. And by intact I mean able to reason pragmatically and without the bias that comes from prior knowledge. At least you would stop to think it through wouldn't you? All around me people are asking similar questions. AL shabab, Boko haram, ISIS, the list is almost endless. There is no mystery here. It's plain for all to see. I have also thought about this. Jihad spreads Islam. For those who may not know, it is termed a holy war but what happens in summary is people are forced to embrace Islam with the sword., or remain if lucky as slaves. These same people whose fore father's were forced to become Muslims are today trying to force others to become Muslims. I don't think (and I believe I am allowed to think abi?) many muslims in Nigeria would have been Muslims today if not that their fore father's were forced years ago. Maybe just a few exceptions. And this leaves me thinking. And there is more. I have seen decent men in society, professors and diplomats, express such backwardness with respect to how women are valued and treated. I wonder why any woman would be a proud Muslim? They are almost basically equivalent to commodities just like can be traded on the market floor. They simply exist to satisfy the inordinate affections of men. And when you look at these it becomes clear why it is necessary to apply force and violence in the form of Jihads. People were forced to become Muslims.
Next time you write that Islam is a religion of peace, please know that billions of people are asking these same questions.
