lolawilliams:I hope oh. Game is looking too close at this point but the Ls are too much so I wish y'all a W. ![]() |
Lebron basically handpicked his team. He needs to hush it. His bandwagoners will soon buy his narrative and tell you that the reason he didn't win a ring in 2017 was because he had no help.Lolawilliams where are you? |
A40:Kawhi is having a fantastic season and all-round he is better than Draymond. But this year I think Draymond has been the DPOTY. I also think Draymond can guard more positions than Kawhi even though Kawhi should be an inch or 2 taller. Obviously, Draymond has his temper and over-aggression that could be dangerous to his team but looking at GSW and sometimes their lack of leaders (which SAS don't seem to lack even as Duncan has retired) Draymond also doubles as the leader of the team and I think it spices up his game well. I read that article on Kawhi. I am not surprised but yeesh..he must really have a boring personality. I can see why Pop likes him ![]() |
SIRcumalot:First your teammate leaves you. Next, the NBA gives me your All-star starting spot. More like. |
coded01:City's season has been about finishing chances. Not whether any team scored what. If they finished their chances they would have won atleast 5 extra games. Everton (2 missed penalties and chances), Middlesbrough, Tottenham, Chelsea, Southampton. City had no business picking 4 points from these games bearing in mind the amount of chances they created and the biggest Culprit is Sterling. CFC are the best at translating pressure to goals little wonder they sit above everyone else in the league. Until City get back to converting chances they will wobble and it would not be the manager's fault. |
OohMpa:Wanted to take it kindly with you but you are too irredeemably obtuse to pass up. Dumbo, if Gordon attempts less 3s (by 1 or 2), has made less 3s and has a lower 3pt % (0.393 to 0.404) than Curry why bring him up and claim he is doing better than Curry in 3pt shooting? Dumbo, if the other PGs are the primary scorers in their teams why ignore their PPGs, APGs along with their PER and settle for only PER? Is John Wall not the Primary scorer? CP3 not 2nd in his team? Isaiah not primary scorer in his team? LOL Dumbo, PPG doesn't make a player better than another when you want it to be. Then switch up and use it to criticise another player at another time. Were you not the one singing about RW being MVP leading candidate? What do you think it implies in a discussion? I told you: by the old All star voting rule, Curry starts. Even by the new one, he starts. What else do you want? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Player_efficiency_rating Read the column "problems with PER calculation". If you need another link I can help you out. KD is averaging 26ppg on 16.7 spg to Curry's 25ppg on 17.4spg this is over the whole season and a large chunk of that has been in January this year when Curry's Shots per game went up to 19.9 compared to KDs 16.4. In December, KD was getting 18 spg to Curry's 15.4. That's why I kept saying Curry's game has improved since he got more aggressive and started taking more shots. I also attributed the change to the Cavs game on Dec 25th. LOL @ PER. Well I admit, I looked at the wrong table. Fine. So Kanter and RW make the cut. There is only one player from Houston but Harden plays with gems and RW with scrubs? ![]() Giannis and Butler are having better seasons than Lebron? And Curry is having a better season than Kyrie? ![]() |
Waiting for another e-diot to say Curry has not dominated any game this season or hasn't experienced a 50% FG game. Who else is noticing this post- Cavs (Dec 25) version of Curry is playing more aggressively than the one who began this season? As per based on Today's game. |
OohMpa:I swear you are a dumbo. You just didn't have enough people telling you that on this thread because it would have slowed you down. How many times did I repeat to you that this is not an MVP argument? Curry is not the MVP this season and I have never made any claims to that effect. It won't make your shallow and factless drivel sound any more coherent if you keep alluding to it just to save face. Good thing you have thrown away All star, Unbiased Metric, Gordon, other PGs, dominating games and now how PPG doesn't matter. Let me guess what matters is rebounds and PER or better still...any stat that you can use to nail Curry? LOL Again before you type anything here go and check it's present-day verisimilitude or stand the risk of making yourself look asinine for the gazillionth time. Curry's poor season PER rate is better than CP3s, Kyrie's and Lowry's. Jeez it must be dizzying to be your own version of stu.pid. See how this pseudo-analyst wants to dismiss RWs poor shooting? We all know it? But it doesn't matter because you want him to be MVP? You are a waste of my time. LOL even PER experts don't know how to factor defence into PER calculations but some doofus on NL wants to help them. How does KDs defence come in abeg? Listen, if plays are made around a player and he is padding all the offensive stats his PER will be good even if he missed 600+ shots and turned the ball 10 times while at it. Stop wasting my time. Anthony Davis' PERs are always high every year for the same purpose (without wasting 600 shots)and that's what KD is enjoying at GSW. Plays are made for KD and MVP Curry doesn't care about it. He wants to win a ring. If you can check Curry's PER in the last 8 games please bring it out. Yea Unanimous MVPs numbers dropped to the level it was before his numinous 2015/16. Which means he is not the MVP as nobody argued he is this year. But one can make an argument that his numbers are still great for an All star starter. Any hater that does not like it can kill himself. |
OohMpa:I love stu.pid people. They are always good for my entertainment. In one breath you bring up people's percentages who are outdoing Curry in half a season, then when it comes to WB you look for Oladipos numbers per career so you can save face for WB. And you reeled it off quickly to deceive the unsuspecting. We spotted you out. In another breath you argue someone's percentage is high because he takes only 5 shots per game, but when it comes to Curry his number is incredibly low even when he has the 2nd most 3s attempted yet most made as well as a better % than Eric Gordon. But you came here like WB (i.e without thinking..sorry.. fact checking and typed nonsense). But again, we spotted you. Lol..everything about Curry is down. Sure. His PPG is 24.6. APG is 6+ Rebounds 4+ all these stats are better than Lowry's, Kyrie's, Walls, CP3s but sure Curry is waaaay down the pecking order. As long as it comes from you, people have to take it. The great DumPha has spoken. But again...we busted you. Currys PER is down to 23. WBs is up to 30. PER is a function of usage. If a player handles the ball more often than not his PER artificially rises. That's a fact. Why don't we really examine the numbers. 2pt % Russell is in the 40+ % Curry is 54%. 3pt Russell is in the less 30% range while Curry is scraping 40% (despite more attmepts and more shots made). Overall FG RW- 42%, Curry- 46% eFG WB 46% SC- 57%. Curry is not top 40 TOs (turnovers), Russell is turning the ball over 10 times a game only behind Harden. Russell has missed 600+ shots the whole season Curry with his 20 shots per game has not missed that much and is averaging better or just under the PPG when juxtaposed with others who play the same position and take the same number of shots. Busted again! Why has KD never been this efficient all his life? It is called the Curry effect. A great player willing to defer to a greater player for the benefit of the team. That's what great players do, they elevate the games of those around them. Curry has not hit 51% this season in any game? Curry hasn't dominated any game? LOL. Curry has 2 40 or more point games this season. 9 30+ games. KD has 11 30+ games and 1 40 point game against OKC. In the last 5 games since Cavs (Dec 25), Curry was top scorer and best player twice(Memphis 40, Por 35)..KD twice and Klay once (against Cavs on the 17th). Busted....you know the rest. But you said it yourself- You have no clue. And BTW Gordon is not top 40 in 3 point shooting. Neither is Klay Thompson. And yes even the people with better shooting percentages have shot way less than Curry. And this is a poor Curry season with 163 3s. Again, this is not about Curry as MVP or anything. He set the bar too high last season so people think his fall has been precipitous. The numbers say they should STFU. |
Decale:You guys need to stop preaching to the choir. I never said Curry was the MVP this season. I said he deserved to start the All star team based on the metrics the NBA used to get the AST. Even if it was in margins Curry would have won. He had 1.84M votes to RWs 1.5M. That is a hefty margin besides LBJ had just a few thousand votes ahead of Curry. Curry was the 2nd highest voted player this year. Second, the NBA told you people how to calculate it, what you wrote up there is conjecture. The formula was: fan vote ranking FVR, player vote ranking PVR, media vote ranking MVR (FVR ×2 + PVR+ MVR)/4. Curry had 2+3+3 =8/4 =2 Harden had 4+ 2+2=8/4 =2 RW had 6+ 1+1= 8/4 =2 This is how the tie was established (between 3 of them) and as such the "Total fan votes" was now used as the tiebreaker. If you guys want to complain that RW was "cheated". Then your argument should be that James Harden cheated him because Curry was number 1. You hear? If Curry didn't deserve it and he is not top 5 like some people claimed, he only needed to finish 4th in one of the categories but he didn't because the same "unbiased metric" voted him 3rd. BTW, Fans vote will always count because the All star game is for the fans. That's why those accusing me of being sentimental probably don't know what the word means. |
OohMpa:You'd be surprised at how young I am but type all the folly you know so I can entertain myself reading it. Assuage sentiments for RW? You didn't say you were pissed he is not going to start? You mean I just brought him up or mentioned you out of the blue? LOL I saw comprehension skill somewhere so I thought to chime in to see whose thinking faculty is on recess. 1. Leading MVP Candidate? You mean like Hillary Clinton was leading in all the polls before D-day? Okay. I hear you. 2. See answer 1. 3. Ehya. And the number 1 ain't starting. 4.Yet the players and media voted Sean Carter THIRD in PGs. It was in error that it came out as Stephen Curry. 5. He definitely is. In context, he has missed 600 shots all season and is averaging 10 turnovers a game. Curry the bricklayer. 6. Ok. So the 1.58M people should make him a starter since he was just a few votes behind Lebron. 7. Ok the media and players vote is near unbiased? So let us do a little maths. Media and player votes account for 50% while fans vote accounts for 50%. So except Curry's Fan's vote was waay above RWs like 2:1 it is very likely that RWs media and player votes wasn't that much above Curry's. In context, you have been talking rubbish and it shows overwhelmingly that Curry deserved to start i.e even according to your "near unbiased" metric. 8. LOL. Except Oladipo and Grant are not centers. Try again. 9. Ok so we agree fans' vote alone is not enough for a player to make the AS team. So the same media and players didn't agree with you that Curry wasn't top 5 (even this season) *cries in comprehension* LOL. Curry is playing with a better player in KD. He realises it and is making him comfortable by deferring to him and not forcing things and competing with him like some others will do. The interesting thing is, before KD came over Curry was carrying most of the load without complaints. Now he has someone who can take the mantle some days while he drifts but pseudo-analysts wanna bite him. Another player (MVP in some people's mind) had the same great player yet he chased him out of the team with selfish and brainless plays. RW should start the ASG. Since the ASG is for players and media and not for the fans. Talking about comedy, I just cracked a rib typing that. One analyst said something I am sure the "fans" agreed with: "RW is the best player you don't want on your team". ![]() |
OohMpa:Your opinion counts for nothing. That's my excitement. I was waiting for you to chip in now to tell us clutch shots you claim Russell has been making all season even when we told you that's just a selfish player playing for triple doubles. The second spin you brought was how he played with scrubs. 40+ games in and we see that 3 other players have a greater shooting percentage on his team but your MVP will be bricking shots and losing his team games. Let him come and carry MVP from 7th in his conference. ![]() Triple double yet fans don't like him. |
justicejay:You are being unrealistic. Neither of the goals was Bravo's fault. Sterling is to blame for your draw today. He misses just too many chances and it gives other teams confidence that they might get something. This game was reminiscent of the Chelsea loss. Bury chances early on and kill off games. |
SIRcumalot:Yes, that very Memphis game. Him and Klay Thompson bricked 5 FTs that would have won the game even despite the 24pt collapse. Spot the irony. Delly looked so good but Curry had those averages. It is in the back of the TV that he looked so good. So tell me, Lebron last season, were they games were he was subpar? Clue: games 1 and 2 but I guess the rule changes when it is Curry and he is not allowed to have any bad games. Delly had a good game 2 against Curry. Finish. Stop buying the hype I have told you. Lol @ Kawhi. 17.8ppg to Parkers 18ppg that's the difference? Really? |
SIRcumalot:Lol. 67 wins, 73 wins but I need KD. Both seasons my record was the same or better at this point. I played against him 8 times last season and beat him 5 times but yea...I needed him. I am happy I didn't maintain that roster. Bogut and Ezeli have barely played a game this year but the fact remains I was elite before KD. In fact, he came here because he knew he stood no chance remaining where he was. I simply adjusted to help my team have chemistry. |
SIRcumalot:When Curry averaged 26. 4ppg in the finals? Scored the most points for his team especially 4, 5 and 6? Made how many clutch free throws that Iggy (MVP) was missing? LOL. How many clutch free throws did KD miss against Memphis? I can see you bought the media hype and alarmist stance. Fun fact: Kawhi, Bron (2013), Pierce, Parker, Dirk, Duncan twice, Billups had less PPG and APG than Curry in 2015 playoff finals when they were finals MVP. Only Lebron had a better APG 7 to Curry's 6.3 in 2013. Media wanted to make Lebron MVP in 2015 but didn't know how to go about it seeing he was on a losing team. So they rather gave Iggy (the player marking him) than the player whose team had deficit points each time he was on the bench. Stop buying the hype. |
SIRcumalot:Oh they did? In the 1 or 8 seasons they played together? I guess KD joining GSW will help them crack their first 60+ win in a regular season too...and their first ring as well...oh wait! |
SIRcumalot:Cavs are better than the Rockets. Forget what we say to Lola it is just banter. |
sapiosexual1:I agree with this. KD is the best player on the team all round but he has dropped big points in games that GSW still lost for example, Cavs at December and that's because Curry (within the first 30 games of the season) had been deferring a tad too much trying to make KD feel comfortable. As long as pick and roll plays are run with Curry in focus or he is bringing the ball up court and not just taking screens and hanging on the wings for spot-up shots, GSW look really dominant and that's because nobody bends a defence like he does. KDs last few games have been mega efficient and that's because teams have to free either one of him or Klay seeing how Curry has been playing aggressively. I thank Cavs for winning in December because without it, Curry would have been playing the same way he started the season. |
SIRcumalot:I hear people make this argument and it could go either ways man. If WB was at GSW and Curry at OKC, GSW would not have 37-6. WB cannot play in a team setting- he plays for himself. He gets all the points and challenges his teammates for routine rebounds when he could have been free on a fastbreak. Then he runs down the clock on iso-plays and only reluctantly gives the assist when he has no means of scoring. What is the corollary effect of such game? Great PPGs, RPGs and APG but many Ls too. So even if they lost KD (which is evidently significant) they would not have won say 10 more games than they have won by now and that's a fact. |
SIRcumalot:The Cavs are a good team but I cannot make an argument about their strength because of an 8 point win against the Rockets. The Rockets have balled well this season and we have all given them credit for it. The standard should not change now because they lost. That 5 point win against GSW at Oracle for example can be attributed to the fact that Curry had fouled out by OT. |
SmooshCHN:What you saw from Lebron in that series was the 2nd or maybe time Lebron would show mental toughness. The first was him 2-0 against Detroit and galvanising his team to win 4-2. The next was 3-2 down and having game 4 at the garden and dropping 45 to help win the game. Mental toughness arises when situation, history, handicap etc works against you yet you rise above it to achieve your objective. It means having the mindset to take the reins and conjure anything up to help your team win. Even though, enjoying a win at the end of your heroics is important, mental toughness can be seen in a player without the win that's why everyone said MJ had the absolute mind of a winner. Kobe is another mentally tough player. In the 2016 NBA finals campaign of the Golden state Warriors, Curry simply did not play well. Physically we know why but even at that how often did you see Curry defer and try to pass the ball hoping someone else would do something? Not against Love or Thompson. Two times in the last 2 mins Curry tried to force a 3 that would have tied the game or increased the lead. He missed both times but he tried to. That's exactly what West Brook, Kobe or MJ would do- never mind if they made it. In the OKC series game 6 and 7 especially game 6, Klay kept the team in the run with his 11 3s but guess who took the game tying 3 to make it 99-99? Guess who took the next 3 to extend it again to give GSW a lead? Yea...you guessed right, it was Curry. What about game 7 against OKC? He did the exact thing, he attempted most of the big 3s of the game including the one that made Russell yell at Robertson for. KD is a brilliant player but guess what pundits said he didn't do game 6 against GSW? He stopped shooting and just let WB take all the shots and they lost the game. In fact, in killer moments KD always seems to defer and hope the "mistake" belongs to someone else. That to me, shows that he is not mentally tough enough to bear the brunt if his team loses. He needs to add that to his game like Lebron did. |
sapiosexual1:Actually that is KDs weakness. Even mentally Curry is tougher than Lebron. The Memphis game is a typical example of how KD couldn't drag the team across. They ISOed him late in the game and he bricked one shot after the other just like he did against Cavs in December. |
SIRcumalot:Not really. He was playing for another team before what good did it get them? Eric and Anderson were marked off the 3 point line. What you experienced was prime 3 point defence. It limited a good shooting team ahome to 7-35. It is more than just not playing well. |
Spy360:I think a silly and sentimental position will be one in which an outlier 35 year old striker is being used as evidence that being 30+ is good for a defence or team. The example continues to even fall flat on its head when we also realize that the 35 year old's team in question sit below the team you are trying to mock. Martial, Mikhi, Rash, Baily, Jones, Rojo, Smallings, Shaw, Darmian, Herrera, Mata etc are also looking at you. Yes Pep in his press conference said so. He had to say that or lambast most of his aged core who in return will go on a spree of 6 losses so that the Manager would get fired. Every manager must be as egomaniacal and asinine as Mou was last season, Roy Keane has been as a manager, or better still, as you expect them to be. What you see is self-deceit and that's fair. I see a poor game-master who keeps changing the rules to accommodate the excuses he is likely to make come season end. After all, Pep is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't win a title- in your own small smug world. |
sapiosexual1:KD always had this potential. He just needed to be happy and be playing in a system that kept him at full strength for most part of the game which is what Kerr is doing. What baffles me is how surprised people are that he is this good. He was MVP in 2014 and got injured in the first half of a game against GSW in 2015 (after having scored 30pts BTW ). And that was the end of his reign. KD was demoted in the MVP rankings simply because he got injured and not because his game had diminished. I am happy he is back up there to his best with his recent blocking sprees to boot. Regardless of how efficient he has been though, Curry is obviously the driver of this team. As long as he plays aggressive, GSW clicks and they look dominant. Which has been the case since that Xmas day loss to the Cavs. The only game his aggression hasn't yielded was against Memphis when they blew a 24pt lead and even in that game he dropped 40. |
sod09:2 of those goals were cosmetic. Everton left 2 men infront and kicked the ball long all game to Lukaku. In every other dept they had less stats. Less shots..less attempts..less corners..less distance covered...way fewer passes...way less possession. I am not taking anything away from Everton, they were brilliant and efficient. In the games I referred to in question especially against Barca, AFC had 19% possession and 1 shot on target (which was a sergio busquets own goal from a corner kick). AFC had very very very few passes in that game. UEFA called it the most 1 sided 3-1 in history. |
Spy360:Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Everton beat city 4-0 they didn't trash City. They literally had 4 shots on target and 4 goals which were results of individual mistakes from City players. They didn't dominate the game, have more shots etc etc. This is important and I'd say why. When Barca beat AFC 3-1 in 2011 that was a trashing even though the scoreline doesn't reflect it. Also when Bayern beat AFC 5-1 that was another trashing. Rewatch those games to understand why. ![]() Now concerning Pellegrini, he inherited a City team that had won the league in 11/12. The core of that team is still very much around today only older. Whether you accept it or not, that's the fact. Pellegrini won a title in 13/14 and since then CFC (14/15) and LFC (15/16) have been champs. After 13/14, I doubt Pellegrini had beaten Wenger again. But Pep took that older team and not only beat Wenger but he outplayed AFC abysmally. AFC couldn't put 3 passes together in the 2nd half. They couldn't even cross their half. That game was reminiscent of Pep's time in Barca and Bayern- and he did it without...Messi or Robben! Not taking anything from Pellegrini either. His team were on their last legs. What we are seeing this season is a replica of last season. City started well and tailed off because an aged core will do exactly that. Do you remember how Arteta was his penultimate and final seasons with AFC? That city squad was aged. Pep is here to not only switch their style, win titles (the whole shebang). He is here to reduce the age of the squad and he has to do it piecemeal. That's why he recruited fledgling talents like Sane and Gabriel Jesus. He is making the team his. He is a great tactician. Even with less quality his teams are dominating games and creating chances. There have been mistakes along with it but everyone makes mistakes. Go and look at his losses this season (all 5 of them). They have not been forlorn losses. They dominated CFC, Everton, LFC and even Tottenham and missed chances early on that may have changed the games. The only game they looked really flat was against Liverpool and even that game was a borefest. United keep mouthing off about how their draws would have been wins and would have seen them higher on the log but City can make the same argument. They had no business drawing with Southampton, Boro or Everton (Jeez, they fluffed 2 penalties in this game and Stekelenburg had the game of his career pulling saves Neuer might envy). Even when things started well Pep told y'all to calm down as they were still a work in progress. I am a big Pep fan but I wasn't on Nairaland boasting because I was one of those reminding those CFC haters last year that the previous city team finished 4th (and as such could not be termed the best team by any stretch). We have seen moments that give us hope that City could become what Pep desires. The Barca game had to be a crowning glory. Remember they had lost 4-0 first leg only to outplay Barca like no one has ever done recently. Not even Bayern of Jupp's day can make the same claim. That's why I laugh when people think Tottenham's form should be the reason City should be overlooked. Sterling buries an early chance and Tottenham open up, it could turn to a drubbing. We all give Conte credit because his style just looks like champ-stuff. CFC look extra difficult to score against but when they played City it didn't look that way. That's why Pep gets offended when people ask him to change. His method is not fool-proof, but it has been working for years. Take note too that Conte is inheriting a team that won a title 14/15. Similar to Pellegrini of 13/14 (because there is just a one year gap between that title-winning season and this one). Should we expect the same dominance from CFC in 18/19 without a serious overhaul in what will be an aged team? If that's not the case then why attack Pep? |
A40:KD on Mark Cuban because of Russ- "His a idiot". Season after, Russ to Kanter (ref to KD) "Don't talk to that bitch a $$ niggur" LOL. |
SIRcumalot:Devil's advocate. After the Oklahoma game you go tell us na Playoffs. After Playoffs you go concede say GSW dey too stacked for OKC and how RW gets no help. |
Spy360:I have engaged different people on this thread and to some degree each have their own positions and subtleties in ideas. Perhaps you are conflating who said what. I can give you an example, if you didn't say they were better someone else did. Also, find out my stance on what I felt Pep's first season will be or what his time in England will be like. In my opinion, he is the best manager in the world by some distance (if that's what you are asking me) and as a tactician, he is otherwordly - just ask players he has coached including Robben. Your last statement already shows your escape route. If all goes well, claim he has the best squad in the league and needs to prove himself coaching Swansea. If all doesn't exactly go well, also claim he has the best squad in the league. Afterall, Zaba or Sagna is better than Bellerin, Stones and Ota better than Kos and Musti, Clichy and Kola better than Mon and Gibbs etc etc. Even the keepers, Bravo is better than Cech. While doing the comparisons..take note how far younger and less injured the city squad is. Your better manager who is currently sitting higher than Pep is averaging 28% possession against him in their history (and Just before you mention Bayern and Barca) I mean with City. And don't forget, Wenger plays "possession football". ![]() William James Sidis level IQ stuff I tell you. |
