sirRiddy:Give us gist na. No dey password am. |
Decale:You would. You are only comparing him to last season hence the chagrin. |
birdman:I am thinking 86 Rockets or 99 Spurs. The potential is crazy but Cousins is an oaf. |
SIRcumalot:Oga, I said Lebron never answered that question till 2013. He was always answering it with the same "Kobe is not my rival" "Y is not my rival" etc. SIRcumalot:If you read the link on Paul Pierce you'd see LBJ say Kobe and him are not rivals because they never played in the playoffs- and that he defined rivalries based on post-season matchups. Ok. 2014, same Lebron that had played Spurs back to back in finals claimed they were not his rivals even if he had played them twice with the same team. Again, now GSW and CAVS have played back to back and he claims no rivalry exists yet that was his criteria when it came to P.P. Hope you get me now. He is changing the rule midway. I guess if he was ever to beat GSW in another final to make the head to head 2-1, he would immediately say they are his rivals when asked the same question. Typical LBJ. SIRcumalot:"Oju aye" I think that's what yorubas call it. Same LBJ when he was asked how to guard Steph Curry in 2014/15 finals said "same way you guard me". When the journalist pushed forward by asking "so how do they guard you?" He retorted "That's the point, I am unguardable". Yes, that was until GSW beat them in that finals, until NBA started calling Steph the face of the NBA or when KG said Steph is influencing the game just like Jordan did. Bron hears that and immediately GSW stop being CAVS rivals etc. SIRcumalot:So Barkley's attack on LBJs competitive spirit is enough to upturn his legacy? It is enough to make us forget his numinous 2016 NBA finals performance? Enough to make us forget his 4 MVPs and 3 finals MVPs and his stats? You are making my case for me. That's hyper-insecurity. |
birdman:I like the spin to this narrative. LBJs greatness is definitely what is being discussed or no? |
SIRcumalot:Nice try. You don't remember what concerning Pierce? SIRcumalot:LOL. Someone can say "KD is not tall". His fans will say he is right when compared to Porzingis and Yao Ming. Neutrals and KD fans alike will say he is talking garbage. This right here, english calls CONTROVERSY because there is a stark contrast in opinions. So Lebron can say GSW are not CAVS' rivals and his fans can try to make him sound correct. It doesn't change the fact that it is still garbage. SIRcumalot:LOL. If a man has to keep telling his wife and kids "I am the head of the house" repeatedly. It means he knows he is not. That's insecurity. When Iggy had won MVP and he was asked what he had to say about Lebron saying he was the best player in the world Iggy responded "He is right, but he doesn't need to tell us as we already know (for him to tell us it shows he is doubting himself)". I added the words in parenthesis. SIRcumalot:No. I am not the one who gave him 2 MVPs and a ring. The NBA did that all on their own. What I see as insecure is a great player who thinks Charles Barkley's comments are powerful enough to tarnish his legacy. Imagine Jordan thinking Jerry Sloan not greeting him is an act of disrespect. |
SIRcumalot:Lebron was asked that question many times before 2013 but he didn't answer it (kept saying he had no rival) till he won 2 rings by 2013. Then Paul Pierce was good enough to be called a rival. So it is nothing new. He is insecure. Why is nobody asking Curry if LeBron is a rival?Because Curry will answer the question graciously and the journalists want something controversial. |
Muna15:If the system was that dysfunctional how did he win those titles? You do realize MVPs usually (if ever) don't come from teams not in the top 2 in their respective conferences. So he was winning NBA regular season MVP titles by winning a ton of games but when it came to the playoffs the same winning team became dysfunctional? |
Roland17:Ofcourse you know I am not. I was indirectly suggesting 2 things: 1. That he was playing mind games with his response 2. That he doesn't decide what makes a rivalry (my message to Sapio) Roland17:This dude has a history of talking this way. I am surprised his groupies don't know this. He also said GSW and CAVS aren't rivals. http://www.sbnation.com/2017/1/17/14295910/lebron-james-rivalry-history-cavs-vs-warriors So it is really not about greatness. After all, how great is Paul Pierce (in terms of MVPs let alone finals MVPs) yet Bron thought Paul was his greatest rival in the NBA. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lebron-james-says-paul-pierce-is-his-biggest-rival/ This is the same Lebron that wore an Ultimate Warrior shirt after the finals and claimed his wife packed it for him and that Champagne stained his other shirt so he decided to wear it. You and I know he would rather go shirtless than wear an I-love-Phil-Jackson shirt so why wear the Ultimate Warrior shirt? Yet he gave a flimsy reason. |
lolawilliams:Lola, I don't argue with you- you humor me ALOT. Even if I wanted to, you'd end up saying ridiculously stoopid things like Lebron is a great shooter and so on. So keep posting for my entertainment. |
. |
Donlittle:See ehn, I just tire. I wanted to ask him if mental toughness is the same thing as playing well. Someone can be mentally tough and not play well same way someone can be a mental weakling and have a great game. How many times is Curry called names? How many times was he pushed and shoved? Did he lose his cool? Even when Lebron was trash-talking during the finals was Curry complaining? Which game winning shot did Curry shy away from?(He would only pass if someone else is in a better position). How many times is Curry criticised, scoffed or laughed at (Like WB did before game 5 of the WCF) ? Did it get under Curry's skin? Nope. His numbers in the following 3 games were 31, 30 and 36 to win his team the series. I know some other entitled players that get called names and they immediately report said players. I know some that get fouled or barely touched and they exaggerate the play. So if one man shoots the ball 35 times per game and averages 35 points per game he is mentally tough? The one that is always looking for more and more help is mentally tough? I think some people here just read Wikipedia and start posting. Kyrie Irving has way more mental toughness than Lebron and KD (bless his heart because I love him) that has always been one weakness to his game since his days in OKC. |
Donlittle:If that post had come from another knowledgeable poster I would have entered debate-mode, but it is Lola what does she know? She once claimed Lebron was known for his shooting prowess and she is a big ![]() |
sapiosexual1:Mental toughness bawo? This is a first. sapiosexual1:Preaching to the choir. Direct this sermon to Lebron. That's the point. |
lolawilliams:Only thing worth responding to here as the rest are garbage. 1. Lebron said Warriors are not CAVS' rivals as well but you didn't see it because it wasn't posted on the stat sheet. 2. John Wall is an all-round player? Isaiah Thomas? Russell Westbrook? Chris Paul? John Stockton? Kyrie? Are they all all-round players? |
stanway:Lol. Why didn't the crowd egg Eric Gordon to shoot the 3 point from half-court too since he is the 3-point artist of the year? |
Roland17:Playing down GSW vs CAVS rivalry was it also Bron Bron's way of saying he is not convinced GSW has earned the right or acclaimed status to be CAVS rival especially after last season's triumph over the Warriors? #MyQuestion ![]() |
sapiosexual1:First exhibit, you say there is a rivalry. A hot one sef. Then later you change and say something about team leadership. That's even too extreme for bipolar disorders. The level of Bird and Magic is it the fact that they are the same height? Got drafted the same time? Attracted about the same crowd? I am asking because if it is about rings even from NCAA Johnson leads 3-1 but the NBA still calls it a rivalry. |
Roland17:I know the feeling. SmooshCHN: ![]() SIRcumalot:Na 1 day pesin dey become fan. After all, I am sure you were not born in a United Jersey. Perhaps Treble winning season became your baptismal day. |
Curry has been a $$ this month of February. Klay has been very very good. I wonder what makes certain players just turn up a notch in a particular period. |
SmooshCHN:She shows up only after Cavs win. ![]() |
Misterdhee1:That's what I am asking her to do. Give us facts. How can anyone tell me rents in VI/Lekki go for 450k. I feel insulted. |
ApexTitan:God bless you. |
Pidgin2:I am tired of the pointless back and forths. Stick to the topic. He said he works for an oil servicing firm. 85% of the oil servicing firms that are worth their salt have their offices on the Island (especially VI and to a less degree Lekki). The remaining few if any would be in Apapa and Ikeja. So he didn't need to tell me. I can do the maths. LOL @ false information. How asinine can you be? I live in and work in one of the 3 areas I mentioned to you. Take my information like it is coming from God. In most other parts of Nigeria rent is cheaper? Ok, so should he stay in Ikorodu and work in VI? Whatever he saves through house rents, he would pay for through PMS demands on his car. Sensible people call it "trying to make penny wise and pound foolish" and guess who ends up being foolish? I read your links..I am sure you didn't read it. You want to take the spin PDP tried to create by claiming a fictitious recession of 1984 even when I pointed out to you that your first link said that recession began in 1981 (During Shagari's time). Buhari was only HOS between 1983 to 1985 and the greatest plunge in Nigeria's FX rate drop /Job losses/ GDP contraction came after IBB did his SAP. In fact we devalued the currency to make-up for the fact that revenue had shrunk following...wait for it...a plunge in crude oil price. If you think history is repeating itself it is because any time crude oil prices drop significantly, Nigeria goes into a recession. And that is why we are advising someone who works in that sector in Nigeria not to get too comfy (especially as he works in the servicing arm that are always hardest hit). Trust me, he would know. Please, leave failed leaders and defend your stance with facts. I don't want to discuss the Nigerian economy in terms of her past or present leaders. Thank you. |
A40: Skywalker5:I agree totally. Only that, I am sure he kept telling himself "the next one would go in" and again and again till it was 1-11. They deserved the L and Jokic is playing ball this season but all eyes are on the playoffs for the most part this term. |
Pidgin2:What is your own epistle for? All the links you posted said "Nigeria is in a recession"- none said the recession began today. Some even went as far as saying unwillingness to save in time of many and lack of diversification by your hero caused it. What is the importance of such verbiage to the discourse? As for the rest of your garbage, I won't derail this thread any more than it currently has courtesy you. Keep telling yourself lies that someone who earns 400k can save 200k each month. Why not say he can save the whole 400k a month and have 2M after 5 months? Hahahaha @ 450k rent. I said Self-contained apartments in VI/Lekki go for close to 1M a year. If he pays 450k anywhere that would never be close to where he works not to mention, transport/fuel, generator, feeding etc. Your last statement is BS I am sorry. Anybody can build wealth wherever. The question is, which country provides one a greater probability of creating wealth? You say Nigeria and I say, in this case, Canada. If you can prove your case with facts, do that. Stop peddling lies. That's all. |
ApexTitan:I didn't even see this before I replied. I won't have bothered. Apart from what you said above, she was trying to argue that nothing leading into 2016 caused the recession when the facts are staring her in the face. The OP who (made that statement) did so to show her that generally things in Nigeria have been getting bad since time immemorial but she is trying to put a spin on it by claiming 1999-2015 were the best ever times in Nigerian history. |
Pidgin2:You know what is funny: I took the pains to go through each of the links hoping you understood what was said to you or if you even read the links you put there. You did neither. If a Plane takes off in Nigeria and 10mins in flight the Pilot realizes 2 of his engines have given way. Then he tries everything possible to salvage the situation but the Plane crashes in Ghana. Your argument will be that the Pilot made a mistake in Ghana(resulting in the crash), even when you have evidence that few seconds after take-off he complained to the maintenance engineer at the Towers that his 2 engines had packed up. Did you also realize that your first "objective link" said Nigeria's previous recession years included 1981, 2004 and 2009? LOL Knowing you, I expect you to come back again to discredit your own links one by one because none of them made any case for you and instead of taking the option to learn, you trudge on, on this your ignorant path to empty drivel, dumb hero-worship/ lionization of past charlatan leaders and selective patriotism. And your last question to me just exemplifies what someone else said (which is that you are arguing for the sake of arguing). FYI, if someone was to make it in Nigeria based on 400k in today's economy, it would be more serendipitous than by analysis of factors that you either told blatant lies about, or conjured up in your own chimerical and delusional world. |
22 point loss. I expected it on the end of a back to back to back (away from home). They should flex. 70 wins seems off the table now. Oh well. |
Pidgin2:Don't derail the thread. How many times was our over valued currency adjusted between mid to late 2014? Did our revenue not shrink within those 6 months? Did FG not resort to borrowing to augment salary demands? Did the price of things go up or come down those months? Don't take my word for it. Listen to the CBN Governor appointed by your hero: http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2016/09/19/nigerias-economic-recession-how-we-got-into-trouble-godwin-emefiele/ Pidgin2:Sorry too but only a delusional person will see red and call it black. Nobody said there is no hope if we are talking in terms of kismet. Alikote can stumble onto $ 7.9M that someone from your Hero's time had stolen and stashed away and his fortune will change. Till then, if he is describing his chances as a Nigerian earning 400k in a servicing company (not an IOC or NOC) then he stands a better chance of success in Canada than Nigeria. The facts are glaring. |
Pidgin2:Recession doesn't just appear. It always starts gradually and could triple in effect based on extenuating circumstances such as a sharp drop in Crude oil price. Nigeria was in a full-blown recession from 2014 when FG started borrowing to pay salaries. I digress. People don't migrate just because of the recession but because of the hope for a better quality of life that is commensurate with one's effort. Your argument implies that because one IG of Police stole so much and has billions of Naira then Nigeria is good and because one Nigerian failed in the USA then Emigration from Nigeria to the US is bad. That's a specious way of arguing. |
Except people here are referring to another Nigeria most of what I am reading here for the "pro-Nigeria" crew is poppycock. To start with, we are talking about 400k. Second, Alikote didn't give the impression he was trying to run away to do menials but is considering doing an MBA and restarting his life in Canada. My opinion? Take it and run, but that's just a shortened version of my reason. Let me attempt to dispel a few of the myths being peddled here. 1. 400k is now average. It is not for big boys. I live in Nigeria and I know people who earn about the same amount and I would not refer to them as big boys by any stretch of the imagination. In the face of today's economy, 400k is equivalent to what 120k was in the early 2000s. The maths suggests it. The pro-Nigeria crew are presenting an illusory by making 400k seem like 680k+ but that is not the case. Every single thing in Nigeria has changed price to reflect the recession (even though most of it is artificial and an example of the typical greed of Nigerians ). 2. 400k cannot build you a house or help you get into real estate. That's another wanton statement bordering on corybantic. Except you plan on acquiring the landed property by installmental payments and in that case, you'd be hedged for atleast 3 years, 400k cannot buy you any good land in viable places in Nigeria. That is, Lagos, Abuja and PH. As per the story about building houses, perhaps we should begin with buying 1 plot of land at 600k+ even in Delta state before we spend millions on the foundation, brick work, decking, roofing, ceiling, plastering etc. And this hasn't even included the major internals of a house which take a bulk of the money. 3. 400k pays all your bills. It could, if and only if you are living like a crab in a Barrel. For example, if you work for an oil servicing firm chances are, you work on the Island. Where do you stay? Forget the Island, people's Boys' quarters go for above 700k per annum in Lekki. In Ajah, the fraction is only slightly lower. If you live on the mainland, I cringe for your petrol requirements per dey. Another person said 100L of PMS was enough to settle Power supply in a month and I laughed hysterically. 25L per day won't give you more than 12hrs of light except your Generator set is "I-pass-my-neigbour". 100L for power even with Inverters is a myth. The Inverters for example need to be charged with power. So how do you suppose you are going to generate that power? 4. PPP of 400k is more than 2000$ in the USA. This is laughable if it wasn't a bare-faced lie. Someone earning 2000$ in the US can achieve more with that money than anyone would with 400k in Nigeria and the reason is simple: most of what we use in Nigeria is imported or we greedily connect it to the dollar. My people, the quality of life you would live with 2000$ is better than what someone else would do with 400k and it is not even close. The closest quality of life to a lower-end middleclass person in Canada or US can be compared to living in Lekki, Ajah, Ikoyi, Asokoro, Maitama etc. I am not referring to the mansions but the rented apartments. And I can tell you point-blank that no 400k earning person can live in those places except he is doing collabo with his friends. I have a lot to say but let me just stop here. |
