In other news though, De Jong is an absolutely remarkable player and I think he is the long term replacement for Sergio Busquets. |
Dembele has not done enough for the hype that he is brewing on this thread FFS. Let these players earn their stripes. |
10Dove:That is preference and it is very allowed. But "facts" are not based on preference which is what I was trying to correct. I would put Busi over him too in terms of what we won, but it does not mean it will be an easy decision. |
Olamyyde:Macherano's game is predicated more on ball-winning than possession. Busi is in conversation for greatest DM of all times because he is part of the greatest teams of all times and I don't think anybody here is questioning that. But him being better than Pep as dismissively as you put it is pure and unadulterated recency bias. I have told you that passing and scoring Pep was CLEARLY better. I am tempted to read your previous posts before knowing whether I should even discuss intelligence with you. The brain someone uses to coach games, devise or understand tactics, learn multiple languages, lead title winning teams as a captain, win trophies as a manager- does not show how much more intelligent a person is than others? Or why do you think Pep said Lahm was the most intelligent player he had coached even when we know same Pep has coached Ini and Messi? |
Isomerizm:I am having the same issue now because of this reddit issue. |
10Dove:I am not questioning Busi's greatness. But if anyone was underrated it is actually Pep based on what a few people said here. And as per passer, no disrespect to Busi but it is not even close. Busi is not responsible for creativity in his passing for example. He keeps the engine running. Pep was deciding games with his passes. Easily. |
Ozkar:I never really watched Pep in his heydays but when he was hired in 2008/09 Barca TV ran a lot of documentaries on him and his time then. This was before any of us knew who Busquets will become. Pep was a phenomenal passer of the ball and scored a lot of long range goals for us. A lot of the past Barca midfielders like Xavi, Arteta, Ini, Fabregas even Xabi Alonso who did not play for us, all said he was the midfielder they looked up to growing up and most of them displayed aspects of his game. Those long balls that Xabi and Fab give, those ground defense-splitting passes Xavi and Ini give, Arteta's long range goals. Those were the things Pep was known for. |
Olamyyde:The way some of your Barca fans sound so authoritative makes me laugh. Go and study the history of this club well. If it was possible to merge Xavi and Busquets' abilities, that was Josep Guardiola. |
10Dove:Actually, Pep was a better passer and goal scorer than Busquets playing at the same position. And Pep was more intelligent. Busquets is a better dribbler, better interceptor of plays and passes and handles the ball under pressure better. Busquets also won more both for Spain and Barcelona so he will be ranked above Pep (and rightly so) but let recency bias not engender a history that did not exist as far as Pep is concerned. |
airmark:Did you or did you not claim so? Are you denying your own height now? |
airmark:But you once said you were 5'7" or 5'9" which one is almost 6'0" again? |
BykeLaByke:LMAO Poco a Poco. This is not the game where the points were to be dropped. There is Everton away. Wolves Away. United Away. Chelsea home. Tottenham home. Those are potential draws. |
raumdeuter:Just like BykeLaBkye said, only God knows where you get the strength and patience to keep lecturing these people. |
Heywhizzy:But I had said it before. Notice some of the United half-wits chimed in to show support in a bid to be accepted. |
Khanben:How old is AD? |
Ibime:El Oh El
|
KAM3KAZI:Whenever there is a game, go to Google and type 'NBA Reddit stream'. You will see all the games there and many links to help with whatever device you are using. |
SmooshCHN:Someone said we complained that KD and Curry should have staggered mins since it felt like one deferred to the other when each was hot. And we complained when Klay was heading the 2nd and 4th Unit and Steve tried to fix that by staggering Curry's rotations with the bench. Another person said Kerr wants a line up that will get the bench players touching the ball so they will not be out of rhythm when the chips are down. I don't want to be too critical of Kerr until we get to the playoffs. So I agree with you. If this was a game 5 then I would be pissed. We also need to remember that Boogie has not yet played. But trust the naysayers to go back to calling us 5 All Stars come playoff time. |
ipledge10:They don't care. That is all. Nobody goes home pissed after such games. They are still coasting. Sad but true. |
Khanben:There is not one team this season that will beat GSW 4 times. I think people need to complain if they see certain things wrong but we should not be histrionic while at it. Close losses or losing in OT 4 times this season are not a fair reflection of how the post season will be. Nobody here truly believes Nuggets will even make it to the WCF for example. And Raptors that were much heralded, how are they doing now? Celts which everyone said will come out the east how is their own stop-start season going? Fact is, Austin Rivers and Green hit at least 6 3balls yesterday and Harden made like 8. Those are unreal numbers. If you think they will get that chance in the playoffs..LMAO. You are welcome. Like I have said, GSWs 3pt D has been arse all season. Many average teams have shot the 3ball so well against GSW for that reason. If a little seriousness is shown in that regard, you effectively take away a lot of gimme points these teams get and that is the way the playoffs will go. Bucks for example, when GSW clamped down the 3pt line we made the most offensive team this year to make under 100pts. Sadly, we have been selective about when to play that type of D which is why the regular season has been this way. BTW, GSW are 2nd seeded in the west for all our complacency and unseriousness. |
SmooshCHN:Truth is, they did not care. They were not even angry. 5 pts with 40 seconds to go, KD that will usually get to the basket hoofed a 3ball and missed. Then Harden just waltzed into our paint and got 2 FTs. On replay, he was not touched by Draymond. Shortly after he heaved another 3 and made it that tied the game. OT we led by 4 with under 2 mins to play. Just force the ball out of Harden's hands. No. We hoped he will miss and he did not. 1second to go, we drew up a play for KD to shoot 3 ball from 30ft behind the basket when Klay was free. That is a team that does not care as much about winning. 3pt defence and complacency have been the biggest issues this regular season but I am not worried. Just angry because the only way we would get serious again is if finishing outside of the top 2 in the west is under contention. This team is clearly under motivated. In another sense, it helps for the post season because anyone judging us off these regular season games just started watching basketball. Another thing I have to add is Refs are purposely preventing GSW blow out games to make the season look balanced. The fake ejections and ticky tacky fouls are no longer subtle. As soon as the lead ballooned to 20..Looney got 2 quick fouls..and Draymond got as well..and Rockets shot 7 quick fire free throws which they all made in the 3rd. They ended up cutting the deficit to 6 before the 4th Quarter. Of course, the rest of the damage was self-inflicted but even against Portland on their ground the same FT strategy to make a game close was deployed. |
Deserved loss. Threw away a 20pt lead and started chucking 3s in the final seconds of regulation. Then went for a 3pt play in last second of OT when Klay was free under the rim with a point down. Took this game for granted after the 20pt lead. 15-6 home this season losing all competitive big games that went into OT. |
jmaine:I can sense your pristine daftness from a mile away. Every president always dialogues with the controllers of the market. They advise him on economic decisions and he piggy backs information off them. Every single president even in the US. The Dangotes, Otedolas are part of that retinue and by virtue of their status always choose to remain apolitical. So if any Billionaire is listed as an adviser on economic policies to the President there are some other stakeholders that might because of this become jittery fearing that they too should align that way. Hence why people like Dangote and whoever this guy is had to clarify that although they will advise the president in the capacity announced, they would have done so even if Sowore was the president. In other words, they are non-partisan. They are not APC members. They will just advise the president. To be non-partisan just means I DO NOT BELONG TO ANY PARTY. It does not mean he rejected the appointment. Dummy. |
I know a lot of people on NL do not think or read but there is no rejection of anything or anyone based on this post. He simply said, he is not a card-carrying member of APC and is therefore apolitical. He never said he was rejecting even the appointment. |
Decale:And /Oh Jay Lay/ for Ojeleye. |
SmooshCHN:They have been trying to make the league look "balanced". We have been seeing it but can't complain because even our players have not been giving it maximum effort. Today, the type of Defense Portland played against Curry, physically limiting him from moving, shoving him etc. I was just laughing because it was not even funny. |
sod09:Be original. For once in your life, let someone mistakenly assume you are not dumbo-in-chief of the Nairaland Daft forces. |
Kerr and Curry messed this one up. Can the regular season be done already? |
Steve Kerr and his useless rotations. Like what are you putting Curry for in this rubbish line up when you know he is the only offence? Oracle does not feel the same anymore. The lack of effort and the disgusting lineups you keep trying out. Like why not try this rubbish away and be serious home after a bad loss the other day? |
rotimi9:Rockets will not win the west in rankings. And he is having a wonderful season, Harden but so are so many other players. |
rotimi9:Voter apathy and Rockets ranking means he will not win it. |
birdman:For the NBA, period. I actually think he is Jordanesque as a scorer. Only that he folds in the playoffs. |
