This thread stinks, littered with shitty posts from toilet-brained swines with chronic eye defects and to think that most of them are from ladies is pathetic. As for the guys who also joined in this show of shame, I can bet that Waje without make up defecates on those plastic girls y'all be running after and spending hard earned cash on.

Music/Radio / Re: Davido And Dbanj Are Fuji Artistes - Adewale Ayuba by Esinwaju: 1:32pm On May 07, 2013
naija_swag: The thing is that these guys just start playing music without really being musicians. Every of the song is one type of beat, no story, no message. Even when the real hip hop artistes are talking trash, like Lil Wayne and Ricky Ross, there is a lyrics which if you care to know shows you that this person sat down and composed this lines. These Nigerian songs are not hip hops and because of their lack of talent in music, they have not sat down to devise or invent what we should classify their songs as. So they can be called anything. DBanj is not in this category as his songs have meaning. As for davido, he is a fuji musician, I concur with the fuji king.
Did you hack into my mind? You just aired my thoughts homie. I cringe when I hear/read stuff like that...I'm always like WTF? DO these airheads even know what hiphop is? In the Nigerian music context, the term 'hiphop' has got to be the most abused and derogated. Adewale Ayuba's comments are most welcome. A breath of fresh air. You can tell that the man knows his trade. Respect to the Icon.

safarigirl: my dear, Jackie is getting married to a NIGERIAN man, not just an IBO man.

Secondly, why should this be a problem when it's a woman? Countless men have dumped wives that suffered to get them to their states of affluence for younger, better looking women and none of you have anything bad to say about that.

When a woman does same, she's a Sluuut, prostiiituute, gold-digger etc.

Bloody Hypocrites. Jackie ride on dear, and if you get tired of this one in 5 years divorce him and marry another one, you're rich, famous and beautiful, they should be honored you even graced their beds to start with
A beautiful post marred by closing remark.

For the first part of your post, I'd give a thousand likes if I could because you just spoke my mind but the boy Da Grin was good. Listen to ''ghetto dreams'' and you will NOT be disappointed.

Some of you here are just so full of it, I mean FULL OF CRAP! What's all these 'she is better than him' trash some of you are spewing? Like seriously? Will the money in his account double up overnight because he is dating Nadia? Or will that suddenly make him topple Obama and then become the most powerful man in the world? God knows I ain't no fan of Jim Iyke, not even a fan of nollywood, not with their insipid and washed up storylines but when I see nonsense, I address it and what some of you are spewing here is fuckery of the highest echelon.

Are Nairalanders having a 'first to comment' competition or what? Reading can't be that hard nah haba! And as for the OP, he is a plonker for reporting this as a bomb explosion when eye witnesses said that they saw smoke before the explosion. Some of the workers on that plant were able to get themselves to safety cos they scampered away the moment they saw the smoke. Read Nairalanders, READ!

dopesidez: Some people hate the highly successful and love those that seem lowly and oppressed, that's why they keep saying things like rakim,kRS one,big daddy kane are the greatest.
Shit they were good but I'll compare them to quuaresma in football, in the rap game you have to be consistent and forthcoming with ur albums on a reg.
Nas can't keep rapping the way he has been doing since 96 and expect an applause, the game has changed and he has to deal with that, that's why u can't f with jigga cos he even chages the game himself.
Its just like when I used to play ISS on my nintendo then, man you can't compare that to pro evo on PS3 now even, ya digg
Sentimental B.S. I won't be able to stop should I start posting on why I rate Nasir above every other MC out there, both alive and dead. That is how much of an influence this Nigga has been to me. Listening to Nasir is like listening to a poet, a sage and an oracle at the same time. So many things I have learnt, knowledge I have gained from the message his lyrics convey. Other rappers rap..Nasir MINISTERS! His lyrics exalt and edifies my mind. I could go on and on homie so don't come here all sentiments laden selling us that 'people hate the successful and favour the oppressed crap'. As for your video game logic....absolutely flawed. Nintendo ISS to evolution on PS3 is an improvement so if I'm to buy your logic, are you saying that the hiphop of today is an improvement when compared to what many have come to agree is the golden age of hiphop? Seriously? This I humbly ask under the assumption that a fellow purist is who I'm rubbing minds with.

I definitely get your point. Nice chatting with a true hip hop head. As I keep saying always be true to yourself. You know what you get from Nas and you like it. I know what I get from Jay and I like it.

Have a nice night and it was really cool chatting with all hip hop heads yesterday/today. Good night.
So glad the thread got derailed. Can't remember the last time a rap debate by real heads ensued on nairaland. Nice rubbing minds with another hiphop mind. Peace.

To some that is creativity/Poetry. As you said, you got to be a listener to understand. For your information, I could rap all 17 tracks of Stillmatic. I am what you call a listener. I am saying, that for someone rapping for the streets sometimes, his lines come out goofy.

[Nas]

Tattoo's real, with "God's Son" across the belly
The boss of rap, you saw me in Belly with thoughts like that
To take it back to Africa, I did it with Biggie
Me and 2Pac were soldiers of the same struggle
You lames a huddle, your teams shook y'all feel
The wrath of a killer, cause this is my football field
Throwing passes from a barrel, shoulder pads, apparel
But the Q.B. don't stand for no quarterback

I don't have a problem with people being a fan of Nas, or people being a fan of Canibus or Raekwon. I just don't like people claiming they know it all and saying Jigga is Crap and Nas is the Bom.b. Nas is aight but he isn't as great as he is made out.

For me I can't keep my ears now on Nas's rhymes. Man they just don't connect with me. Don't think I am talking from a Naive point.
In that case, then we all are guilty of claiming to know it all. You rep Jigga. I rep Esco. What you call goofy is actually what sets him apart from others. That signature poetic style with which he passes his messages across. No Rapper has stimulated my mind like Nasir, not even Pac. And if you have not noticed, I'm not debating from the 'who's better' angle. I'm just letting you know that you are mistaken about Nasir. Seriously.

[Nas]

Yo, I'm living in this time behind enemy lines
So I got mine, I hope you ("got yourself a gun"wink
You from the hood? I hope you ("got yourself a gun"wink
You want beef? I hope you ("got yourself a gun"wink
And when I see you I'mma take what I want
So you tried to front, hope you ("got yourself a gun"wink
You ain't real, hope you ("got yourself a gun"wink

My point is looking at that lyrics above, Nas never had a gun, Never robbed no one but is rapping that he hopes you got yourself a gun. Knowing Nas's life and listening to this, it sounds like watching a fiction movie and seeing them shooting lots of guys but in your heart you really know that no one is dying.

I just can't connect with it.
I am not going to sound categorical about something I ain't sure of but Nas was born and raised in Queenbridge, lost a childhood friend in Illwill(shot dead). Even his brother Jungle got shot but survived so there is now way you can convince me that Nasir knows not what he's talking about with those lines.

My skin is an art gallery right?/
With paintings of crucifix/
Hoping that it saves me/
From All the dangers in this music business//

These lyricists will not kill me with laugh.

Your derision of Nasir's lyrics is the joke here. Leave poetry for those who grasp it. Just like my man kick started his verse on 'memory lane' with the 'I rap for LISTENERS' line, you gotta be a listener to understand Esco my man. 'MY SKIN IS AN ART GALLERY RIGHT? WITH PAINTINGS OF THE CRUCIFIXES'...meaning he's got tatoos of the cross on his body. Now how difficult is this for you to understand? 'HOPING THAT IT SAVES ME FROM THE DANGERS OF THE MUSIC BIDNESS'....now you can't tell me that you've never seen christians hanging the crucifix on their cars can ya? Why do you think they do that?
Celebrities / Re: Did Beyonce Sleep With Drake? by Esinwaju: 6:40pm On Apr 05, 2013
Now to the hiphop matter..everyone made excellent points. @Royal..you are my man for repping Nasir. That is one MC I have chosen to place above every other rapper. @Joehunt...I believe you and I are almost of like minds when it comes to hiphop. I'll take LIFELINES over PUNCHLINES any day or time. I'd pick a rapper that talks about real stuff that can be related with over some guy putting some words together and saying meaningless crap. I call those kinda raps beautiful nonsense. However, if there is anything I disagree with then it is your view about Nas. You are totally off on that one. You quoted some lines from his 'every ghetto' track. Those lines came at the tail end of his second verse on that track and you dwelling on those lines just to pass Nasir across as meth head(offense taken here, go listen to 'the don' and hear what he said about codeine and promathezine) is a joke and seriously I laughed hard at that. One thing you gotta know is this, Nas is not your everday kinda rapper. He is more than that. He is a POET! So you see? It ain't right for you to just quote part of a poets work and criticize it without relating to the rest of the work. If you take your time to listen to that song, Nasir was addressing his daughter when he rhymes 'black princess it's an ugly world/I put my life up for yours/could you believe it but my shadow jealous/my flesh hates my own bones/my brain hits my heart my heart makes a song/though my songs come from the father/I'm lonely hold me it's getting darker'....only a biased raphead would pass this off as hallucination cos those lines makes perfect sense to those who are poetic in mind. Dunno whether or not I should proceed with an explanation but I believe you are intelligent enough to decipher it now that I have written those lines out properly. My two cents.

This is the first time that I'm actually delighted that a thread got seriously derailed. From insipid crap to some brain stimulating debate about a subject very dear to my heart. An art that I found and still find very alluring inspite of it's declined standard. The derailing of this thread got me reminiscing about old nairaland's music/radio section where real heads converged to dissect rap joints. Used to be very intellectual ish back then. Big ups to those niggas meen...Sauron, Bamsyle, Eldee, Ibime, GbadeX, DBR and my cousin Kaydee. I learnt alot from these cats. Most things I never understood about hiphop was made to look like A,B,C by these guys. I salute y'all,, enough respect and to those whose name I did not call (cos I really can't remember all) respect to all. Peace.
