I was conversing with a brother very recently and he mentioned to me that he can't marry a sister that uses the niqab/face veil.Personally, from his level of understanding and religious commitment,I expected a positive response. Then,I felt niqab/face veil should be discussed before marriage.
Do you think its an ''issue''?

@Ummu Nusaybah I hope you're with ur niqab...LOL

For me I can marry a sister that uses niqab...but I've to see her face Tto face before the marriage....

It was narrated that a companion told the Prophet p.b.u.h that he wanted to marry a lady I've forgtn ha name. The Prophet p.b.u.h said "have u seen her?" the companion replied "No".The Prophet p.b.u.h said "go and see her,for It'll produce love btw you" later the companion saw her and they married.

I can marry any sister from any tribe, younger or older than me,frm diff state or country so far she has d qualities and the chemistry u r talking abt exists.

But the issue of staying here and she s staying somewhere won't happen. We've to live together...to avoid fitnah, for proper/moral child upbringng and education, etc.

The Islamic law recommends that the husband shldn't stay away frm his wife for more than four days...to avoid fitnah.

babylolaroy: Aameen. Alhamdulila for the gift of hijab for we muslimahs. i hate to even imagine myself outside my house w/o it. It brings honour and respect and you even feel good observing a right deed in d deen.
BTW, i av a question pls. i'v heard that while observing the hijab, one has to cover every undercloth. thus hijab has to touch feet or more. this is because even d undercloth is regarded as adornment. Though i dnt wear my hijab dah way, i wud like to know if its ok to wear half jilbaab like to d waist wth a normal cloth-ankara or lace or anything. something like wat am wearing at my dp.
i see some sisters wearing d same color and material of hijab as dia inner gown. the plain types. is dat the correct use of Al-hijab?
Masha Allah.Hope u'll encourage other sisters to be wearing hijab.

Every undercloth has to be covered. The hijab has to touch feet or more.

In Q24:31 Allah s.w.t says "Tell the believing...that they should...not display their adornment EXCEPT THAT WHICH IS APPARENT..."

The adornment includes both natural features and artificial enhancement of beauty such as face, hair, and other attractive parts of the body,dress,ornaments,make-ups and the likes-THOUGH THERE ARE DIFFERENT OPINIONS OF SCHOLARS.

Regarding the issue of half jilbaab, lace, ankara etc there are opinions--because the lace and ankara are also part of the adornments....

Although, some scholars argue that whatsoever you use to cover the whole body with the exception of the face and hands, whether it is ankara, lace etc is a hijab...someone shld elaborate more please.

The Prophet p.b.u.h said to Asma'u,Aisha's sister R.a.a when she came to him clad in a transparent cloth which revealed her body "Asma, when a woman begins to menstruate, nothing should be seen of her except this and this" ,and he pointed to his face and hands. Reported by Abu Daoud.

The issue of inner gown having the same color with the hijab is a choice.

**HIJAB contd.

There are four qualities that
hijab must fulfill:

a) It must cover all parts of the body, except the face and the palms

b) It must be loose to the
extent that her shapes are not
visible.

c) It must not be transparent.

d) It must be plain. That is, it must not itself be attractive or decorative.

We know that we as Muslims are supposed to be those who completely surrender to the will of Allah. So even without understanding the reason why hijab has been made obligatory on us, we are obliged to comply. But Allah in His Mercy has explained the reason to us in the above mentioned verse: “This makes it more likely that they be
recognized and not be harmed.” In other words, a lady is very precious, so precious that not all eyes are allowed to gaze at her. Take for example, when you posses a very precious stone or gold, do you place it in a prominent place in your living room for all that enter to gaze on? Definitely, no Indeed! Why? Because of its preciousness. You normally prepare a special box for your jewelries and place it in a much secured place in the house. Dear honorable sisters should realize that you are more precious than those precious stones.

You should realize that contrary to
what the enemies of Allah would want you to believe, observing the correct hijab guarantees your true freedom grants you the honor you deserve.

At this point, I would want to warn us against the plots of the Shaitan. At all times, the Shaitan always tries to approach humans through the gate they would not suspect. For example, since the devil realize that most people are wise enough to realize that worshiping idols made of stones, wood, metals etc is worthless; he therefore created other forms of idols like man-made ideologies. Also, when the devil notices people’s love for religion, he brought them different false religions. Also when he notices that now, Muslim women are trying hard to regain their glorious identity by turning back to the Almighty and observing the hijab; he introduced many forms of fashion hijabs.

Unfortunately, some of our sisters have fallen into this trap. Although they want to observe hijab, but they end up observing the fashion hijab. They wear tight fitting and decorative attires;which in fact makes them attract the opp charge. Another unfortunate thing is that some prominent Muslims promote such ‘hijab’, claiming that there is difference in culture and environment.
Of course, there is difference in culture and environment and so hijab does not necessarily have to be uniform style, but it must fulfill the alreadymentioned qualities.

Honorable sisters!

You should know that your hijab is
only hijab when it fulfills the qualities of lawful hijab. And that only such hijab signifies opposition to the oppressors and the oppressive system ruling the world. And only such hijab dignifies you and gives you special recognition; “This makes it more likely that they be recognized and not be harmed.”

Esji80: loading...QUALITIES OF HIJAB
Allah the most High stated in the Noble Qur’an: “O Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and the women of the Mumimun to draw their outer garments closely round themselves.

Allah is Ever-Forgiving,Most Merciful.” Suratul- Ahzab- 59. Also in Suratun-Nur- 31 Say to the mumin women that they should lower their eyes and guard their private parts and not display their adornments except for what normally shows. And draw their head-coverings across their chests. They should only display their adornments to their husbands or their fathers or their husbands’ fathers or their sons or their husbands’ sons or their brothers or their brothers’ sons or their sisters’ sons or other women or those they own as slaves or their male attendants who have no sexual desires or children who still have no awareness of women’s private parts. Nor should they stamp their feet so that their hidden ornaments are known. Turn to Allah every one of you, mumineen, so that hopefully you will have success.” From the above verses of the Noble Qur’an,we understand that hijab has been made compulsory on Muslim women just like other obligations have been made compulsory on Muslims. For example, like salat, fasting in the month of Ramadan etc. And just as salat, zakat and fasting have specific ways of observing them, so also has hijab specific way of observing it.

ummsulaym: sis sissie question-answered your question gbaskilly*pardon my grammar*... Really, that's a straight foward answer she gave even though in a question format...
This is a personal answer, should I say contribution:
1) Though nothing is impossibible with Allah SWT but if a sis couldnt embrace the usage of hijab from primary, secondary and finally pass through higher institution, it just normally becomes 'tougher' to embrace it when a graduate... There are exceptions though but that's how best I can answer that

2) On personal ground, I wouldn't wish or pray to be a second wife not to talk of 3rd or 4th... Other(s)*if my hubby wills to take more* can join me but I love being first... Can't explain it better but I love to be the first if not the 'only'*winks*

3) Allah has made 1-4 permissible and HE is the most wise so I cannot question that rather than pray for the heart to act right if my man ever takes another... But answering why I'll prefer being the only wife is better understood if you put yourself in my shoes which is ''the wife you love so much, the mother of your children, living under the same roof with you but shared with another man or men and you are aware but have to continue living with that''... It's better understood by sisters but All I ask Allah for is to help me bear it with love for my husband and co-wives*if I will ever have any* but bro, the condition that i wount stay under the same roof with the co-wives must be honoured by my husband... It's better when I dont see it happened... I wont and will never prevent my man from taking another wife*if he wills* reason being that he musn't have any reason whatsoever to 'near zina'... I want to make JANNAH with him*winks*

wa Allahu a'alam
You are the kind of sister a gud brother will long to've as his adorable first lady *wink* y?

Due to the love you'll have for the coming co-wives...

The Prophet p.b.u.h said "none of your trully believes until he/she loves for his/her brother/sister what he/she loves for himself/herself"

Another question- Does wearing hijab diminishes a sister's beauty? *wink*

I was advising a sister to be dressng hijabatedly-she said actions are judged according to intensions...have I finish washing my sins...she knows the way she worship her God etc.

Thanks for your contribution

Jazakillahu khaira. I visited the site, masha Allah well organised.

But there is no where that they compare dyeing hair and letting the beard grow.

The essence of dyeing the hair and letting the beards grow is the same-to be different from the jews and christains. So they have the same judgement.

Al-Bukhari,on the authority of Abu Hurairah, reported the Prophet p.b.u.h as saying "The Jews and the Christains do not dye their hair,so be different from them" Reported by Bukhari in his book clothing,Chapter "Dyeing the Hair"
Some sahabas such as Ali,Ubay ibn ka'b and Anas did not dye their hairs according to scholars.

Currently, I believe the position that it is compulsory is strongest but makrooh is bad enough.

I have also seen the papers that permit not keeping beards but they are not convincing at all for me.

You can get fatwas for everything now.
He said shaving the beards is Makruh. Growing it is commendable rather than obligatory.

He further stated that the reason for growing the beard is to be different from the non-believers,it is similar to the matter of dyeing gray hair in order to be distinct from the jews and christains; it is known that some of the sahabah did not dye their gray hair, signifying that it was commendable rather than obligatory.
