Lagos state has become a state with mixed tribes, although it is originally and mostly dominated by the Yorubas. Today, there are many other tribes within the state such as the Ibos, Hausas, Eguns, and at least a representation of every other tribe in Nigeria. Considering the dominance of the Yorubas and the quest to reclaim ownership of the state, there has been issues of discrimination even in the area of housing. Most Yoruba landlords have a bias for accommodating Yoruba tenants as against other tribes. In my view, this is so inappropriate! I believe it is a beautiful thing to have one state out of the 36 states in the country that can help pull all tribes together, which is what Lagos state is achieving. But with this kind of discrimination, how can this be achieved? Nigerians, both within and outside Lagos, should be willing to accommodate her fellow man, whether of similar tribes or not. As if the discrimination against blacks abroad is not enough we still create internal discrimination amongst black tribes. How sad! It is sad that in this day and age, a Nigerian would so clearly discriminate against and, thus, disregard his own people. However, it is not shocking because there are Nigerians who show a clear disdain for their fellow citizens. The fact that this practice of not renting to Nigerians is not illegal and not prevented by Lagos State and Federal Government authorities suggests that this practice is somewhat acceptable by authorities. So, if you’re in the category of discriminating landlords, kindly turn a new leaf! And, if you’re a victim of the house hunt discrimination, share with us your experience below. |

COPIED...
Good day all.
I want to be a stockbroker. I am working towards getting admitted to the chartered institution of stockbrokers. I have been trying to contact the institution for sometime about some inquiries that I didn't find the answer to, on the website, but no one has responded to me, both on mail, and calls.
Please, is there any person here who is affiliated to the institute, in any capacity, I can ask some questions?
If you happen to also know a medium I can use to contact the institute too, I will really appreciate your assistance too. |

yMcy56: One of the things that tires me for here is lack of patience for some of these stock picks or good stocks!
@streetinvestor was somehow right that some investors and newbies are viewing NGX like some kind of MMM website or something.
There's no law that says prices should keep going up once you pick a stock. You may buy and it will start falling. Has that changed the fundamentals or positive news surrounding it?? No.
If you're not comfortable holding Dangsugar and Salt further, then sell. If you want to hold it for medium to long term, it's left solely to you, as the CEO of your portfolio concerns.......and you be oldbie for this biz oo. No allow village people to succeed o.
Sha try and keep eye on Transcorp or pick tashere units to add to the over 30 stocks in your portfolio. Transcorp? Another stock again? Please, no mention ooo. I am an Investor, and not an AGM attender. Reminds me of a man I met at one AGM I attended at CIVIC Center. He say he has ranging from 1 to 10 units of shares in all the companies listed on NGX that do their AGMs in Lagos State, and that he does not care weda the stock price is going up or coming down. All he needs is the access to freely attend AGMs. I dobale take greet am. |

Debbie4ma: This is so true. But those building materials are now very expensive. Some also want to build too many houses as investments, so once they cannot finish some, they abandon it, and wait for the price to appreciate before selling it off as uncompleted buildings. |
