@Manjiro

Happy New year.
Concerning funding the Diamond Account. I have set up Diamond as a bill payment with my online banking. Whenever I need to transfer I just pay the bill and the funds get to my account. Its pretty much the same way as the initial funding of the account.

Please can some explain why I get too different stock valuation from Investor Delight and Nigerian Securities. Last week Nigerian Securities was right throughout and today its Investors Delight. What I find strange is it that the rates they quote is sometimes higher than the peak price for the day so it makes me wonder at what point did they take the valuation if their low price is below the lowest price of the share that day and the high price above the highest price that day. What exactly is happening here. Please help one has FCMB as 19.77 and the other 20.00, Nahco as 28.50 and the other has it 28.77

I can see no one will tell you the truth they all seem to understand. Let me make it clear to you. Ask all your female supporters to advice you what to do as you are now dating their own husband and see what they would tell you. Cut the crap about he is carring bla bla bla. He is not yours his wife has invested in him and contributed to how he is emotionally. You are just an easy lay for him he does not love you will never marry you you better wake up. Go back to your suitor and have a married life - one in which other women will have affairs with your husband and disscuss it on nairaland. grin grin grin grin grin and I hope you be just as understanding as you expect us to be.

@spicy007
Bottom line is this:
i will get married, WHEN i find a true friend whom i love, but who happens to love me more, warts and all.
But most definitely, not before that.
You got it just right. Like I will always say if you have to die for something let it be on your own convictions.

wow, I was about to ask you some questions about your previous post- thank you very much

one more thing though, could you have done this(inter-bank transfer) yourself online?
There is a link for third party transfer and to request a bank draft online. I may have been able to do it but I could not complete the mandatory fields. The charge was between 1.5 and 2% I don't have the exact figures now.
EducationRe: How To Improve My Spoken English? by Etin(f): 1:10am On Jan 22, 2008
@seabiotics

I have really enjoyed your logical presentation of your case and use of English. I guess its a case of if you don't have, you do not know how useful it is. I had my first degree in English Language - Uniben. My greatest transferable skill is my written and verbal communication and yes speaking good English does put food on the table. It has for me. In UK lots of people with good degrees will not get jobs because they can not express themselves properly. I rest my case. It would appear that people who can not express themselves usually resort to aggression and sarcasm ? I wonder why ,

@ Poster

Its all been said. I will reecho BBC radio. Please go for the news and documentaries. Please leave out the BBC regional programs so you pick up the right Received Pronunciation (RP) the standard for proper English speaking. I would recommend that you leave out VOA, primarily because Americans pronounce lots of words differently and nothing is more annoying than someone speaking and fluctuates between different accents. Good luck.

Update on Diamond Bank 5 ******

Sent an email to that a Bank draft be issued to my Stock Brokers. Diamond Reach Account product manager called me on my mobile to inform me there was abetter way; they are able to transfer the funds to the Broker Account in GTB. I sent an email requesting the transfer and providing the details of the GTB account. The next time I logged in about an hour later it had been done. Now is that 5 star customer services or what?

NB: Please note no money has been collected to say this.!!!!!!

@ NBA

Greetings. Hope your weather isnt going crazy like ours over here. I am sure Diamond Bank would forgive for yabbing them if you send some dollars their way. I must say the Diamond Account works for me. We never did get any feed back on the other Banks - Skye, NIB etc

@Obalende

So far I have not operated on the secondary market so I am unable to give the execution times on deals. Too early to recommend. Online access coming later in the year.

Emad:
Point of correction, Marriage only gives you additional respect when you behave respectfully in the context of marriage.
If you are married and spend your time sleeping about you will not have any respect.

You can still command respect without marriage , it all just depends on how you carry yourself about.
well said.

It would appear to me that money commands more respect so if respect is what its about just go for making money. Less hassle!!

How many unmarried people are happy? This is to let you know happiness can not be found outside of one's self. If you are happy and fulfilled in your single life you would attract the same kind of person and go on to have a good married life. On the other hand if you look to someone else to complete you, be you a man or woman. You would be very dissappointed and this is the point marriages start to crack. Marriage does not cure you of vices nor will it remedy lack of will power or discipline to effect positive changes in ones life. If anything it would magnify the short comings. Marriage has really got nothing to do with how happy you are or sad. Happy and sad people can be found among the married and unmarried.

On if we must all marry? my answer to that is what do you really want? Its your life live it. If we must die let it be for our own convictions and not one projected unto us.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Etin(f): 11:13pm On Jan 21, 2008
A unit trust and OEIC(open ended investment company) are very similar except that for unit trust it has a specific period of time for which it should operate(closed funds)
Unit Trust are open ended hence do not have an end date. Investment Trust on the other hand have fixed amount that can be invested, fixed units and a fixed last trading day after which the managers may invite you to roll it over to another Investment Trust. In UK they are listed on the stock market and enquiries on them are directed at the Registrar. Unit Trust on the other hand is open and keeps growing and all administration is done by the Fund Adminstrator / Managers

Concerning opening GTB account its not a special account for people abroad it just you sending your forms via email until you sort it out in person in Nigeria. This wold work for some one who plans to visit nigeria soon or goes frequently. (My husband opened one last year)

@Etin, All

Hi ladies and gentlemen, im back!

If anyone is interested in opening current account with GTB, please know u can do it from abroad - ring corporate headquarters and indicate interest and they will giv u instructions. I opened mine when i went to nigeria but didnt have time to pick up the chequebook + ATM but my relationship manager said I can write a letter instructing the bank to release cheque books a designated person (relative). it may not be given a formal name but its possible.

Etin, I am very interested in knowing more about an Investment Account with Citi Invest. I would be glad if you could help me out with the following queries:

1. Are BUY/SELL instructions executed the same day?
2. Any fully functional online facility or will investor rely on online CSCS monitoring?
3. How did you manage the account opening process from overseas?
4. Would you recommend them?
5. Have they met the SEC recapitalization requirements?
Will get back to you on this.

@NBA
Thanks for asking after me. I hope you are well and in good health. I went on a course at work so had limited internet access. On Diamond Bank account internet access is fantastic. I have had access everyday. I recently did a transfer which hasnt gone as quickly as the transfer to open the account did. I still havent got my ATM card (was told to expect it 3rd week this month will just have to wait and see) nor naira cheque book.

In the mean time I have opened an Investment Account with Citi Invest. Opening balance 100K got tired off all those too big for their shoes. Communication is good and response same day. They got me a CSCS account in the same week. Will still complete the UBA NRN whenever they recieve the post.

@Dis Guy
What do I think of Diamond Reach Account? It works for me I would recommend it. Opening is very fast but it takes a while to get your cheque book and ATM. If you need an account quickly go for this as you would have your account number immediately your scanned documents are received via email. The exchange rate is better than moneygram, and so far always better than CBN quoted rate. The online banking is very versalite. On every occasion I have called customer services, I have met people who clearly understood the product and system.
CareerRe: What Professional Exams Do I Need For Oil Jobs? by Etin(f): 10:15pm On Jan 11, 2008
There is nothing wrong in wanting to work in the oil sector even if its because it pays more. What is important is you know what you want and are willing to take steps to get it. A Big Cogratulations to you in advance. You will get there. I recently learnt from my husband about Geographic Information Service (GIS) course. This is a skill highly regarded in the oil sector. This is a link to one of the free online courses I found online. All the best and God Bless You.

@Etin,
I actually have no dealings with the New York office. The account reps I deal with are all in Lagos. My personal preference for dealing with Naija is through email, I like the convenience, paper trail, and the use of the emails for reference.

By the way, check to be sure they will do a transfer from the Savings to the Stockbroking account. It was posted somewhere here that a current account was required, I avoid using the current as much as I can. I will ask them about it too.
Thanks, you are right there I called them on friday and was told that I would need a current account to et the stockbroking service. I'll just wait for them to get the post I sent then I plan to scan another copy with current account checked on the forms. Diamond Bank would have been fantastic but the stock brokerage service, I dont seem to get the quick response i get with the Diamond Reach team. I plan to have that as well then i can always use the best depending on the deal.

Universal Insurance PP.

I know this was sometimes last November , but my broker just told me that he can get me the minimum unit (100,000) at 1.50k per unit.

Is it good or bad idea and any info about this company.

I have to decide sharp sharp,

Please share your thoughts. Thanks.
The official price was N95000.00 for 100000units. I would suggest you contact the actual issuing house and buy directly from them. You can download the forms and propsectus from the link below. It would contain the issuing house and other agent details.

Thanks and a very Happy New Year to you. I guess the time zone difference makes UBA a much better option for you as you can deal with the New York office. I have started the process with UBA savings and capital market account. I would see if it lives up to my expectations.

Etin: do you know who your mail was forwarded to in Afrinvest Lagos?
Jude Chiemeka refered by Jonathan Harrison in the London office.

@Man Jiro, NBA and all

Guess what I got a Christmas card from the Diamond Reach Account team. Hand writen and signed by all I have been in contact with. That for customer service scores very high with me call me cheap if you like but I really do appreciate these little gestures. I would like to know what UBA, and other companies did for their clients this christmas.

@ Obalende

Afriinvest UK is now owned by UBA and no longer part of Afriinvest WA. I have contacted them and they forwarded my contact details to Afriinvest WA (Lagos) and they never contacted me despite the fact their former sister company sent an email to the head of securities. As for me I would go with UBA because by the time Afriinvest UK is fully integrated I expect they would offer very good services.
