Popular social media platform, WhatsApp has added great new features and recently revealed that it has a user base of more than one billion users which means, one in seven people use Watsapp on earth.

With such a huge user base, Watsapp recently improved its app with a host of new features with improved speed, security, reliability and simplicity.
Watsapp earlier announced that it manages over 100 million voice calls every day on the app, that makes it more than 1,100 calls per second and has upgraded the desktop versions of the app.
These new features are user friendly and they make messaging more fun.

Video calling
WhatsApp just confirmed that you can now do a video call on Android, iOS and Windows. The ‘Video Call’ and ‘Voice Call’ choices are at the top dialer button. A new dialog giving the option between a standard voice call and a video call will appear.

Tag
Tagging others within a WhatsApp group is not possible even if the people have muted the conversation. You can avail this feature by typing @ and click on the contact you wish to tag from the appearing list.

Picture edit
So nice! WhatsApp now allow you to doodle on as well as edit on the photos before sending them to your friends. When you select a photo from your camera while messaging, few icons on the top right will appear with options to, crop the photo, draw a doodle, enter a text or a sticker to the photo. Then the picture message is ready to be sent.

Most viewed
This feature sadly works only on Apple devices as of now. Go to ‘Settings’ and then select ‘Account’ and then ‘Storage Usage’. There, you will be able to see the total number of messages at the top of the page and also a list of chats, ranked according to the number of messages sent to the number. This helps you see who is your ‘best friend’– which contact have you spoken the maximum number of lines.

GIFs
The 2.16.16 update allows you to send videos (six seconds or shorter) and Live Photos and GIFs. You can search the Giphy library to search for GIFs to send to your friends on your WhatsApp.

Me say what happened to all the petitions he wrote against some principal members of the house? First things first.

The House of Representatives has passed a resolution to allow Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin into the Nationa Assembly premises for the purpose of defending himself before the Ethics and Privileges Committee following fresh petitions against him.
This followed a motion by Rep. Ossai Ossai, the Chairman of the Ethics Committee, which was unanimously adopted by members through a voice vote on Wednesday.

Moving the motion, Ossai explained that the motion followed the receipt of two fresh petitions against Jibrin by the National Youth Council.

Ossai said “the Committee on Ethics and Privileges has commenced investigations into the petitions and it seeks the indulgence of the house to invite Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin.

“It is on the grounds of fair hearing that he will be allowed into the premises of the House for the purpose of defending allegations contained in the petitions,”he said.

Ossai said that the petitions received against Jibrin were on his absenteeism and poor representation of his constituency of Kiru/Bebeji in Kano State and for operating foreign accounts which was in violation of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

Rep. Aliyu Madaki (APC-Kano) said that since Jibrin had been suspended and the issue was a subject of litigation, there was no need to consider the motion.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, said that the matter in court did not have anything to do with absenteeism or the foreign accounts said to be operated by Jibrin.

Dogara said “we don’t know of any case in court as regards operating foreign accounts or absenteeism, but this is in line with fair hearing and I think that is why the motion is here.”

Jibrin was suspended in September 2016 for 180 legislative days for breach of members’ privilege in his 2016 budget padding allegations. (NAN)

MMM has finished me ooo!!!!

I borrowed 200,000 to do this MMM that has been trending, just to get a little thing and send the money back to the owner.

However,my trouble began when after providing help, I requested to get help of 290,000 and all MMM could do was to match me with my landlord whom I've been owing rent of 250,000.

Senator Buruji Kashamu has said that the PDP lost the Ondo State governorship election to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because the outgoing governor, Olusegun Mimiko, “refused” to heed to advice by fielding a prospective successor from his senatorial zone.
In a statement yesterday, Senator Kashamu explained that Mimiko was advised that Ondo voters would resist the “injustice” of producing a successor from the same senatorial district where he hails.

“It is not that Mr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, is not a good material. He is urbane, intelligent and smart. He would have probably won had he come from any other senatorial zone than Mimiko’s.

“In a political party, like every other setting, people are bound to have disagreements and protect their interests. Senator Makarfi should not let governors Mimiko and Fayose to mislead him any further. The mess that they have put the party is already more than enough,” he said.

As airline operators grapple with the challenge of aviation fuel known as Jet A1, the Senate on Monday vowed to intervene with a view to bringing the situation to an end.
The Senate expressed concerns over the scarcity of Jet A1 and the attendant disruption to flight operations but blamed the situation on cartels that had hijacked the distribution channels.

The Vice - Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah, who spoke during an oversight visit to Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other aviation agencies in Lagos said that the Senate would expose the cartels hindering smooth distribution of the fuel.

He spoke at the headquarters of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in the presence of other heads of aviation agencies including the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB).

Passengers have been experiencing flight delays across airports with the operators blaming the problem on scarcity of Jet A1.

However, the Senators said a decisive action would be taken to get out of the situation.

"The committee will look at the matter and we will be decisive on it. We will unbundle the cartels", Ibn Na'Allah said.

The Ebonyi Government has said it was concluding plans to enforce a ban on the sale of foreign rice in markets and other outlets in the state.
Governor David Umahi made the disclosure when participants of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Senior Course 39, Jaji, visited him in Abakaliki on Monday.

The governor said the order would soon be enforced to ensure that the residents patronised home-grown Ebonyi Rice.

“I will personally lead a task-force, consisting of the State Executive Council members to various markets and enforce the order.

“Individuals who are selling the produce will provide certification of its quality because most of the rice brought into the state is not parboiled.

“Any rice that is not parboiled after six months turns to chaff as most of them brought into the country stay for about 10 years before being imported.

“The rice then becomes poisonous and we have banned cooking of non-Ebonyi rice inside the state’s Government House, hotels and public functions.

“The Ebonyi rice still presents its unique taste even when cooked without meat and we will give you some quantities for attestation,” he said.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Air War College was yesterday inaugurated in Makurdi, Benue State.
The Minister of Defence, retired Brig. Gen Mansur Dan-Ali, was represented at the event by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonishakin.

Addressing guests and pioneering Course 1/2016 participants of the college at the lecture hall of the Tactical Air Command base in Makurdi, Olonishakin said the dynamic nature of modern warfare occasioned by emerging threats required decisive responses.

He reassured Nigerians that the armed forces would continue to fight Boko Haram, cattle rustling in the North-central, kidnapping in the South-east and militant groups in the Niger Delta.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, said the need to establish the college was in tandem with his vision to reposition NAF into a highly professional and disciplined force through capacity building initiatives for efficient, effective and timely employment of air power in response to Nigeria’s security imperatives.

He added that the NAF would continue to improve on environment and facilities of the college now operating from its temporary site in Makurdi until it is moved to a permanent location in Abuja.

Earlier, the Commandant of the college, AVM J.K Baba, urged the students to set an enviable pace for others to follow.

N4.7bn laundering: EFCC calls for bench warrant against Ladoja, 1 other

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday urged a Federal High Court Lagos, to issue a bench warrant against a former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, over money laundering charges.

EFCC said its prayer was based on Ladoja’s refusal to show up in court, to give answers to a N4.7 billion money laundering charges preferred against him by the Commission.
At the mention of the charge on Friday, counsel to the EFCC, Mr Olabisi Oluwafemi, from the law firm of Mr Festus Keyamo, informed the court that the matter was for the arraignment of Ladoja along with his former aide, Chief Waheed Akanbi.
He told the court that the accused were invited and asked to appear at the EFCC’s office, but they did not honour the invitation.
He said the accused deliberately stayed away from court and merely sent their lawyers to represent them.
He, therefore, urged the court to issue bench warrants against the accused, arguing that without their attendance in court the trial cannot proceed.
Reacting to the application for a warrant, counsel to Ladoja, Mr Bolaji Onilenla told the court that he was not aware that the business of the day was for the arraignment.
He argued that this was so, because there was a pending appeal before the Supreme Court.
He informed the court that after the decision of the Court of Appeal, Ladoja changed his counsel, and then filed an appeal to the Supreme Court.
He stated that neither the accused nor their counsel were served with any court summons to appear in court.
Onilenla also challenged the prosecutorial powers of the prosecutor on the grounds that the fiat to prosecute was exclusively given to Fetus Keyamo.
He added that such fiat could not be transferred to any other person in his chambers.
He also disclosed that the Supreme Court had earlier dismissed Ladoja’s appeal pursuant to order 6 rule 3 of the procedure rules, but that an application had been filed to restore the appeal.
He added that to continue with the trial will amount to showing disrespect to the apex court and it would be an infringement on the rights of the accused.
After the submissions of the counsels the trial judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, fixed Nov. 25 to rule on the application for a warrant of arrest.
The EFCC had in November 2008 arraigned Ladoja along with his former aide, Chief Waheed Akanbi, before Justice Ramat Mohammed, who was then serving at the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court.
The anti-graft agency alleged that the two men conspired to convert properties and resources derived from an alleged illegal act, with the intention of concealing their illicit origin.
It also alleged that Ladoja used N42 million out of the proceeds to purchase an Armoured Land Cruiser Jeep, and remitted about 600,000 pounds to one Bimpe Ladoja in London.
Ladoja and Akanbi had both pleaded not guilty to the charges and urged the court to quash the charges.
The lower court had refused the prayer to quash the charges.
Dissatisfied, Ladoja had appealed against the decision of the Federal High Court.
But, the Appellate Court in its judgement delivered by Justice Sidi Bage, had disallowed the appeal and ordered the former governor to continue his trial at the lower court.
Bage in his lead judgement, which was unanimously adopted by two other justices, had held that the EFCC had statutory powers to prosecute under Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2004

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Monday Igbuya, on Wednesday, engaged a staff of the Assembly in a public brawl. The speaker’s involvement in the fight came as some members said they were considering removing Mr. Igbuya as head of the state legislature.

Last Monday, the state assembly workers, who are members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), had locked out Mr. Igbuya and other principal officers as well as other legislators over the speaker’s refusal to address their demands.

The workers’ protest, which entered its third day on Wednesday, took a violent turn as the Speaker allegedly brawled with one of the protesters identified as Buchi (alias Nehemiah) at the entrance of the Assembly Complex.

An eyewitness who serves as an aide to one of the principal officers told SaharaReporters that the speaker ignored pleas to calm down, going ahead to exchange blows with the staff.

“Since Monday, the Association had barricaded the [state] assembly complex, locked it, and prevented the speaker, principal officers, and other House members from gaining entry. On Wednesday, a member of the House attempted to access the complex but was refused by the protesting workers. Later, the Speaker drove in a furious commando-like manner trying to scare the protesters, but the protesting staff refused to yield,” said one source.

The source said that, when the protesters would not relent, the Speaker came down from his Lexus SUV and angrily told Buchi to get out of the way or risk being manhandled. When Buchi refused, Mr. Igbuya reportedly slapped him. Our source added that Buchi retaliated, and a brawl ensued.

Another legislative staff revealed that it took the intervention of Daniel Mayoku, representing Warri Southwest constituency in the state legislature, Timi Tonye, representing Patani constituency, to break up the fight.

Our sources said Mike Okeme, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s special adviser on labor relations, rushed to the scene on learning about the brawl and helped to restore normalcy to the charged atmosphere. Mr. Okeme reportedly appealed to the workers to call off their strike and allow the lawmakers access to the Assembly complex.

SaharaReporters learned that the workers heeded the adviser’s appeal and opened the gate to enable the Speaker and other lawmakers to enter the complex. Our correspondent reported that the workers went into a brief meeting, and came up with a circular suspending the strike.

The workers’ demands include the appointment of a deputy clerk, the payment of outfit and special duty allowances, the provision of drugs at the Assembly clinic, and the recruitment of adequate medical personnel.

Our correspondent reported that the speaker appealed to some reporters who witnessed the fight not to file reports about it. In an apparent move to ensure that the brawl went unreported, the speaker’s media aide, Henry Ebireri, told journalists that the speaker had agreed to increase their monthly “stipends” of N5, 000 to N10, 000. He promised that senior reporters who were already receiving N10, 000 would be now be paid N20, 000.

Meanwhile, a plot to impeach the Speaker appears to be proceeding. Some state legislators have accused Mr. Igbuya of betrayal, corruption, inexperience, high-headedness and inability to lead the House among others.

An assembly member from the Delta south senatorial district said the speaker’s actions continued to bring the house into disrepute and ridicule. “We are shopping for a more experienced, capable and refined person who can fit into the shoes of the former speaker, Honorable Victor Ochei,” said the lawmaker.

The source described Mr. Ochei as “one lawmaker and speaker who brought respect, dignity, zeal, vision and mission into the exalted position which Honorable Igbuya has not been able to replicate.”

Speaker Igbuya did not answer telephone calls from our correspondent. Mr. Ebireri also declined to comment, stating that the issues were above him. He requested that a text message be sent to him, adding that he would respond after consulting with the speaker.

US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has been rushed off stage by secret service agents while addressing a crowd of supporters at a campaign rally in Reno, Nevada.

The 70-year-old billionaire, however, reappeared several minutes after the Saturday evening incident to cheers from his supporters saying, "Nobody said it was going to be easy for us, I want to thank the Secret Service."

No reason has yet been reported for the security measure.

Trump's campaign event in the Western state was his third in a series of four stops in the so-called swing states across the country throughout the day.

Agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have finally interrogated Muiz Banire, the legal adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
