In a quite unusual manner, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has eulogised the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he clocks 64 on Tuesday, March 29. According to The Nation, Fayose (known for always throwing missiles at the opposition), in a press statement released by his media aide, Idowu Adelusi , hailed Tinubu as a pillar in Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole. Fayose noted in the statement, that the APC national leader has over the years proven to be a great political figure in the country. The statement reads: “I heartily felicitate with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he clocks 64 on March 29. “Whether one likes it or not, Asiwaju Tinubu has become a political pillar and leader, not only in Yorubaland but in Nigeria. He is a great politician who takes well-calculated political steps. “I and the good people of Ekiti State join millions of Nigerians and Asiwaju Tinubu’s friends and supporters across the world to rejoice with him on this auspicious occasion. “Asiwaju Tinubu is a good case study when one talks about political resilience and doggedness and no wonder he now ranks among the leaders of this great country. “I pray that God gives him the grace to witness many more years in sound health in the land of the living.” This eulogy is coming barely 24 hours after Fayose hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for apologising to Nigerians over the current state of the nation , while demanding that apologies would not resolve the crisis, but for the president to find a lasting solution to the mess in the country. https://www.naij.com/780052-wont-believe-fayose-described-tinubu-turns-64.html?source=index_main |

The Senate on Monday, March 28, summoned Ibe Kachikwu, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, to appear before it over unending fuel scarcity across the country. This decision was taken by its committee on Petroleum Resources ( Downstream) after carrying out major assessment of the crisis in major filling stations within Abuja Metropolis . According to their assessment, many filling stations were not selling fuel due to alleged lack of supply from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Depot Suleja, amidst long queues of motorists waiting under the scorching sun for the non available product. Jiibrin Barau, the acting chairman of the committee, along with two of his members, said the Petroleum Minister must definitely appear to explain the way out of this lingering crisis. He added that due the chronic situation, Bukola Saraki, the Senate President had to call on the committee to swing into action quickly. “This situation is very bad and unacceptable, hence, the need for the Minister to appear before us tomorrow ( today), and unveil his plan of way out to us ” Even if he doesn’t have any plan yet out of the lingering problem, the Senate President and the entire members of the committee are more than ready to rub minds with him for that needed purpose” , he said. Philip Aduda, the Senate minority whip and a member of the committee, called on the federal Government to arrest the situation fast, by making fuel available to Nigerians. He said: “The government should look for petrol and ensure that it is given to the people , demands are meant for the people , for us, to Nigerians. “It is unacceptable, we are Nigerians and it will be bad for us to continue remaining in queues. If the APC leaders like, let them blame themselves that their problem but the most important thing is for us to have fuel in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “ That is what we are looking for and that is what we want. We want to see all these queues disappear.” Meanwhile, petrol marketers at various stations visited , lamented that lack of supply and in adequate supply of petroleum products by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), in recent time , resulted into product scarcity being witnessed a crossed the country. Specifically the manager of Forte Oil ,opposite Transcorp Hilton in Maitama District, said while only three fuel tankers are being supplied daily now, it used to be five or six before. Isa Friday, manager of Oando Filling station, Zone 4, disclosed that it has been long the station got supply from NNPC depot in Suleja. The lingering crisis has angered Nigerians who took to social media to express their dissapointment in the state of fuel in the country. However, the federal government disclosed that it can’t end fuel scarcity soon, saying that it may continue for several months. Tragedy struck over the Easter weekend after a Muslim shopkeeper was murdered for wishing his Christian neighbours a happy Easter. Asad Shah was stabbed more than 30 times in the brutal assault inside his shop in Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland. It is believed he was killed after he posted a message on Facebook wishing Christians a Good Friday. “Good Friday and a very Happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation… Let’s follow the real footstep of beloved holy Jesus Christ and get the real success in both worlds,” Shah said. Shah was a well loved member of his local community A 32-year-old man has been arrested for murder and is still being interrogated by police officers. Mohammad Faisal, a family friend, said a bearded Muslim wearing a long religious robe entered Shah’s shop and spoke to him in his native language before stabbing him in the head with a kitchen knife. “The man dragged Shah away but the guy continued attacking with the blade,” said Faisal. “They struggled up to the bus stop where Asad collapsed. “That man must not have been too happy about what he was doing, what he was preaching. It was a well-planned attack. He must have been an extremist.” In previous online posts, Shah spoke out eloquently against violence and hatred and called for unconditional real love for all mankind. “Merry Christmas to all my beloved Christian nation and to all beloved mankind with best wishes,” Shah posted last Christmas. Hundreds of people attended a late night vigil in Shah’s memory One of Shah’s neighbours said his murder was a despicable act, especially so as he was such a loved member of the community. Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has said that most of the injustices and marginalization alleged to have been meted on Ndigbo in Nigeria were self-inflicted. https://informationng.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/peter-obi.gif The former governor spoke in Awka, the Anambra State Capital during the grand reunion of Osisiona Foundation founded by Dr. Chike Obidigbo, former All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), gubernatorial aspirant in the state. Obi who was accompanied by his supporters to the event said that Igbos choose to be spectators than getting into the mainstream of seat of power, where the national cake is being shared, declaring that if one was not where the cake is being shared nobody will remember you. Most governors of South East, he said, don’t attend relevant meetings and when they attend they do not have patience to stay in such meetings. The former governor who was intermittently cheered by hissupporters at the occasion said that as APGA Governor, there was no Governor who got more than him from the centre when he superintended Anambra State. He said in the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s), no state except Gombe State, apparently, where the woman in charge hails from, got more than Anambra State.Endorsing Dr. Obidigbo for the 2017 Anambra State Governorship race, the former governor who indicated his interest to run for the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone against the APGA candidate, Chief Victor Umeh, said it is people like Obidigbo who are employers and wealth creators that should be given opportunity to rule Anambra State. He said that if people who have never invested nor employed people were entrusted with power, they receive allocation and embark on frolic of their own to squander it because they have never known how to handle money. In his speech, the traditional ruler of Nteje, Igwe Roland Odegbo, said the traditional rulers and religious leaders in the State were working hard to reconcile Obi and his successor, Governor Willie Obiano, saying that a lot of people in the State will not like the peace move because of what they benefit from this quarrel, but they will fail. Calling for respect for traditional rulers in Igbo land, Igwe Odegbo challenged those who forment trouble in the State to desist from it or face the wrath of the people and thgods.Dr. Obigdigbo said that he was prepared for yet another round of political battle in 2017, urging his supporters and people of goodwill to remain prayerful and unwavering as they jointly pursue this agenda of honest and quality leadership for the great people of Anambra State. “It is often said that quitters don’t win and winners don’t quit. We are winners and refuse to quit because God cannot be found in an abandoned project,” he said. http://authorityngr.com/2016/03/Marginalization-of-Igbos-self-inflicted--Obi/ |

Ibrahim Yusuf, a father whose daughter, Hawanat Adebanke Yusuf is missing has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to look into the case of his missing daughter as contrary to report, she is not a wayward girl and still a virgin. Hawanat Adebanke Yusuf and Nasirat Oyeyemi. Photo: Vanguard Hawanat and her friend, Nasirat Oyeyemi who were undergraduate students at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria disappeared from school in February 2016 after they went to buy some food items at Sabon-Geri market in the city. According to Vanguard, Yusuf who lived in Lagos said as soon as he heard of the disappearance of his 25 year old daughter and her friend, he went to Kaduna with his son. He said: “Both Hawanat and Nasirat live in Queen Amina girls hostel, ABU, Zaria. On Sunday February 6th, 2016, at about 4pm, the two girls told their room-mates that they were going to buy some food items at Sabon Geri market, very close to their school. To the dismay of their colleagues, both friends did not return that same day. The room mates felt that they could have gone to see their relations hoping that they would return for lectures the following day Monday but, unfortunately, they did not return. Their colleagues were therefore worried and they began looking for our contacts in Zaria. When they contacted our relations in Zaria, it was discovered that the girls did not come to them and this heightened the suspicion that the girls might be missing. ‘’My relation in Zaria called to inform me about the development. On Tuesday morning, I embarked on a journey with my son, Ismail, to Kaduna and we met Nasirat’s father at the campus security post. We narrated our story to the security men at the post who sent one of them to go with us to Samaru Police station, very close to the school. We narrated the incident to the Divisional Police Officer and also asked him if it was possible to make a report at MTN office so that they could be traced through their phones. The DPO however asked us not to do so, saying that it was likely the girls eloped with their male friends. He later advised us to take the case to Kaduna State Security office in Zaria. When we got there, the officer in charge collected some information from us and promised to get back to us. “Later, we were advised to seek the assistance of the Muslim community in the school. We met the President of Muslim Medical Students Association and other students. They were very compassionate, they asked questions about our daughters which we obliged them, while they prayed and advised us to pray for our children’s safe return. They later led us to the Vice Chancellor’s Office who confirmed that he received a report about the missing students and assured us that he would do everything possible to locate their whereabout. He later referred us to the Chief Security officer who informed that the school had already compiled all the necessary information that will assist in the search which will be sent to Kaduna State Security. Since then, we’ve been keeping in touch with them but till date, we’ve not heard any news about them.” “Hawanat is a decent girl. The statement by the DPO that the girls might have eloped with male friends is not true. I swear with my life that my daughter is still a virgin. She is religious and was not the wayward type. She is my daughter and I know her very well. My daughter is the assistant class representative in her department. She takes her studies seriously. I wonder what she could be going through now. May God guide her wherever she is. Shedding tears, he added: “We have spent all we have trying to locate our daughter. We have visited so many places and every effort proved abortive. This incident happened since February, the police and other security agencies assured us that they are alive yet, they are no where to be found. I don’t know what to do any more. When my wife heard the news, she was devastated and has been ill. I wish I know the situation my daughter is going through right now.” Oyeyemi Amisu who is the father of the Nasirat said his daughter was not a troublesome girl and would not have eloped with a man. “Nasirat is a hard-working girl. She has always been guided by the dictates of her religion. She has never been a troublesome girl and I am bothered because I trust what my daughter can do. Contrary to what my daughter will never elope with a male friend. Since her disappearance, there has been confusion in the house. I cannot concentrate on my job any longer.” We are therefore calling on President, Mohammadu Buhari, the governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Inspector- General of police and all other security agencies in the country to intervene. We are appealing to them to please use their good offices to trace the whereabouts of our daughters. We believe that with their intervention, we will surely welcome our daughters back to us” https://www.naij.com/778089-swear-daughter-still-virgin-father-pleads-president-buhari.html?source=index_main |

Juliana Adeyemo was allegedly killed by a person suspected to be a soldier in 32 Artilery Brigade of the Nigerian army. Juliana Adeyemo has been killed by a yet-to-be identified person suspected to be a soldier in 32 Artilery Brigade of the Nigerian army, Owena barracks, Akure, Ondo state. The Punch reports that a 25-year-old woman, who worked as a recharge cards (vouchers) seller in the barracks, was found in a pool of blood in her apartment in Block 5 on Sunday, March 13. Wale Adeyemo, the husband of the deceased, said that he was not around when the incident happened. However, he alleged that the killer murdered his wife in the presence of their two children. “One of our children, Dayo, a four-year-old, said the soldier entered into the apartment and killed his mother on the day,” he said. The aggrieved man noted that although his wife and the children cried for help, none of the neighbours came around to rescue her. He addeda that the killer stole all the money in the house and the recharge cards that his late wife sold. Asked why the matter was not reported at the police station, Mrs Adeyemo explained that the leadership of the brigade told him not to go to the police as the army authority would handle the matter. “I am appealing to the army authority and the government to help me arrest the killer of my wife. I don’t want the matter to be swept under the carpet,” he said. When contacted, Captain Ojo Adelegan, the public relations officer of the 32 Artilery Brigade, confirmed the incident and added that the brigade had already commenced investigation into the matter. “The incident is unfortunate, but I want to tell you that it was not a soldier that killed the woman. It is not possible, our soldiers cannot do such a thing; they are responsible officers,” he stressed. Earlier this month, an ugly incident happened at Ovre-Eku (Iwevbo) community between Edo and Delta states. Some soldiers, numbering about 10, used their boots on hundreds of women protesting over a land, which had been in dispute for years between both states. https://www.naij.com/772113-read-soldier-allegedly-25-year-old-woman-army-barracks-ondo.html |
