PoliticsRe: Federal Govt May Recruit Ex- Militants Into Military by excanny: 7:40pm On Feb 25, 2011
Other countries do the same by converting some of the wayward kids on the streets into responsible personnel in the military. The Army actually has a lot of discipline to shape them right.

Not a bad idea

@Excanny - You havent answered my question. Were the corpers murdered by mobs in jos igbo or were they yoruba?
Bros, both Igbos and Yorubas get killed in conflict in the North or elsewhere.

Yorubas think Hausas are 'good' people and the best thing to happen in Nigeria. Let them deal with that.

I'm kind of more concerned about the Igbo folks who get caught more easily in all of this. The less the number, the lesser any damage. Thats what's up.

Yoruba have since graduated from gbomogbomo to real time kidnapping. All Igbo kidnappers are Yoruba brought ups. Imagine Yoruba people kidnapping and killing Igbos in the midst at a time Igbos were not even involved in kidnapping.
Dude, it seems like you get some interesting news. You mind sharing it with our Yoruba friends here? shocked

GEJ is an Igbo - the reason Igbos have declared support for him.

Igbo people should not come and tell us in future that are marginalized - they are already using their term.

I'll suggest we install him as the new Yoruba Leader.

Tinubu isn't doing too well.

You keep going back and forth. Are you suggesting that Bode George speak for the Yorubas?

Dude is coming out from prison tomorrow. I'm sure with some renew vigor. What do you think?

Should we install him as the new 'de facto' Yoruba leader to take over from Awo?

The Asiwaju title was given to him by the Oba of Lagos, not the Alaafin

Hence, he is the Asiwaju of Lagos, not the Asiwaju of Yorubaland.

But he owns a Yoruba party that pulls its weight in the SW. If he does speak, no else will speak? Bode George?

let me also make this point because it seems lots of igbo guys are ignorant of these.

igbo people are not 'designed' to cooperate or 'love each other'.igbos have always being individualistic from time immemorial.they did not have a empire like kingdoms that sort of engineerd 'cooperation'.what they had was simply clan or small village settings.even in this settings people competed with each other.nobody liked to be seen as a 'lazy person' or 'no achievement' oriented person.that was how it was in the olden days setting.everyone like to be associated with being succesful with one thing or the other.

for guys that say 'igbos do not love one another' please if your relation says he wants to be shoe shiner or simply come to you everytime so that you will give him money pls when you decide to encourage him to do that let me know.

has anyone wondered why there were no igbo cities before the colonialists?
I think you are really getting things mixed up here. Ofcourse if you do not love your place, it's in a way not loving yourself. You stand to lose a lot-your culture, language, values and all that.

Igbos love themselves, but an Igbo man does not love himself. Which is exactly the cause of his problems.

@DayoKanu

Commerce like economics, does not distinguish by tribe or religion.

Igbos are a nation of shop keepers and as such have to spread their tentacles. If all igbo traders stayed back in their land to trade, who will be the buyer?
Basically, that's the truth.

In reality, such spreading of tentacles had always come with a difficult prize to pay- danger, envy, etc. They could change their means of livelihood gradually to that which could result in fewer Igbos venturing out.

Others aren't nations of 'shop keepers', and they haven't died off.
PoliticsRe: If Jonathan Were Igbo by excanny: 4:31pm On Feb 24, 2011

Exactly my point. An Igbo man means of livelihood puts him in the way of harm as far Nigeria is concerned. It purely a gamble, which could pay off tremendously or backfire horribly.
If Igbos can look the way of agriculture, or other means of income that could keep most at home, with just a little elsewhere, that will be clever.

Igbos have a comparative advantage in oil palm. A lot of industries are looking for this commodity, even spending a lot to import it from island nations. I wonder why Igbos are not looking into things like that.

Do you mean that the attacks on igbos are caused by them living outside their homeland. what about the innocent yoruba youth corpers murdered in cold blood by killer mobs in jos last year. where they igbos? I also dont know what ''love themselves individually'' means?

In the same vein i agree with you that igbos should invest in their homeland. However what i believe drives most big igbo owned companies to establish their headquarters outside home is the fact that the east has been so neglected by the FG, that the infrastructure to support them virtually doesnt exist. I would love for companies like Innoson to establish their factories in the East.
I wouldn't rule that out. Out of sight is out of mind.

'love themselves individually'? lol. I kind of coined that word myself. Should have inserted it in inverted commas.

I think I mean, is there a word like 'self-love'? As in always thinking about your origin in every thing you do.

I thought the NASS met on this issue to amend the constitution so as to prevent these kinds of tenure elongation.

Are these judges not supposed to follow the law? I mean I understand the other cases, but Uduaghan is not supposed to get a ruling like this. The law was made before his re-run!

@Ikengawo.That picture of Abia State University is fine.Shebi it is the most beautiful State owned university built alongside the Owerri Airport with money contributed by our fathers.Umuigbo Meka!

The writers reason is the same reason why Igbos have to deny their ethnicity to survive and gain acceptability amongst other Nigerians.

The Igbo is like an incurable viral infection. The killings, conspiracy and lies cannot shut Igbos down but will make them stronger.I personally am a nationalist just like GEJ but our difference lies in the fact that I take the bull by the horn.
50% of that is caused by the Igbos themselves. Why not Igbos looking back home and try to live more in their own land.

This craze for other people's land is really annoying.

I do not think that anyone hates Igbo, it seems it's the Igbos that do not love themselves individually.

There is sense in what he wrote. Even Hon Oputa and other Ukwuanis of his generation played active roles in the defunct Igbo state Union.
Actually, I was only spurring him(omonuan) on because the Olaudah Equiano angle he was taking will most likely lay this controversy to rest. That was why I was asking him to back them with solid proofs.
