Politics › Re: Lagos Cpc Endorses Igbo As Deputy Governor by excanny: 9:08am On Feb 22, 2011 |
I wil personally advice that Igbos to stay away from Lagos politics. The hausas are even better prepared for the conflicts associated with ruling in a foreign land since they hardly live in among natives, but in seperated enclaves. Thus, it's more easier to defend themselves if $h*t hits the fan.
Igbos will be crushed should the natives turn against them due to their careless way of living in among the locals.
If any Igbo has a brilliant political dream, he should look towards the SE that is currently suffering from a brain drain. There his contribution will be much more needed.
The old saying goes 'Charity begins at home'. |

Do you even know the meaning of tribalism? Did I attack any group?
Anyway, the point I was trying to get across can not easily be deciphered from this topic here, and as such, seem too philosophical for you to grasp. But those insightful enough understand what I was infering.
BTW, I'm not really in the thread. I've got bigger issues bothering me than what is going on in the SW. |

maimalari: During the pre-primaries, we virtually begged igbos to support us against greedy gej. But u chose to ditch zoning and supported a man who cares less about your welfare. How can u people in your right senses talk about zoning. For your information, the igbos are irrelevant, dubious and inconsistent. In modern day nigeria, there will never be one igbo in federal governance. Your governors(except chime and amaechi) are clueless and empty,so what do u expect. Msheew. You didn't realised that it was the northern delegates too screwed that plan by practically voting overwhelmingly for Jonathan. Even Atiku lost in his own state. So do not come here and whine without reason how the Igbos didn't work with you. And pls tell me one of your northern governor who is performing. Nonsense. You just think you can pick on Igbos whenever you feel bored. |

omonuan: Remember Olaudah Equiano a/k/a Gustavus Vassa? He stated in his biography that he was from "Essaka" in Benin Empire. "Essaka" is Ashaka in Ukwuani. However, Olaudah was more proud of his Igbo heritage. He would tell everyone proudly I am "Eboe." He was the first person to attempt to write Igbo words using the English alphabet.
Comparative to the stolen art of Benin, the "Ikenga" statute in the London museum was stolen from Ukwuani. I am from the Enuani clan of Anioma and in my opinion, any Anioma person that says he is not Igbo is mis-informed and needs to be re-educated. We belong to one of the most industrious and ingenuous"tribes" (I'll rather call Igbo a nation) in the world and should be proud of it.
As a clan, Anioma harnessing their IGBO ingenuity has arguably produced more great individuals per capita than other people. We must also not forget that Anioma eccentric army officers brought the chaos that consumed the entire Igbo nation in 1966. You will never hear the Igbos from across the Niger condemn Nzeogwu and his misadventure. In fact, they adore him because they feel despite his mistakes he exemplifies what makes the Igbo great, excellence! One of the great officers of the Biafran army was an Ukwuani man named Nzefili amongst many others from Ukwuani/Ndokwa axis. Story story. Can you provide links to back up your claims, considering how controversial this subject is? |

This is close to 3 hours that you put this thread up here, and those Yorubas who use to applaud you wherever you are bashing the Igbos are nowhere to be found. Take for a change that this post is criticizing the Igbos, you'll see how they'll flock in here in excitement.
Ikengawo, I hope you are beginning to get an understanding of how other nigerians think. You seem like a fair-minded person(as most people in your shoe are), while the remaining nigerians live in denial.
It actually baffles me that many Igbos think like you do, feeling that others are open-minded as them. This is exactly my beef with the Igbo race(Nzeogwu, Ironsi, Zik, etc all ring a bell), never knowing how to differentiate friends from enemies.
I just hope you learn a lesson about your utopian Nigeria. |

alj harem1: you are right about considering the population of edo, urhobo/isoko, igala and even hausa/fulani
but the population of igbos in lagos is almost at par with the population of us northerners together if not less.
there are lot of areas in lagos that you will not find 1 igbo or northerner there,.,.,., there was a time i went to deep epe because my wife wanted to buy fish.
the people i saw were mostly from benin republic yoruba and indigeous yoruba.,.,.,., no single igbo or northerner
now that is just an area there are others,.,. infact i can count the amount of igbos in isale eko and ebuta-metta they are not more than 10,000 at most (ie maximum which i over estimated ) there are others like that
even ikoyi, VI it is mostly yoruba northerners and few rich igbos
lekki is mostly yoruba as well few igbos and very very few northerners
makoko is mixed with about 60% yoruba and 40% igbo
ajegunle is mixed with igbos, ijaw and yoruba equally
even idumota is not sure for igbos
i can go on and on and on
but if you think of it even sokoto state have igbo area, yoruba area and other areas,.,.,.,.
just my mind You are correct. Epe is quite rural. Even the Yorubas from other state hardly live there, usually it's the natives you find around there. But most of the youth leave those areas to the more populated areas as soon as they become young adults. Apapa and its environs however hold very little presence of Yorubas. It seems these areas never had any native settlements. But all in all, there.g no doubt the Yorubas still command a large presence in Lagos. It's either they are at par with the non-Yorubas or slightly less. |

Politics › Re: April Polls: Igbo Threaten Pdp, Jonathan by excanny: 9:06pm On Feb 20, 2011 |
alj harem: that is the true estimate, just because you do not see the yorubas in the city does not mean they are not there
go to epe and other rural areas in lagos they are there
we and igbos are more in the city than rural areas in lagos, the yorubas are in every corner of lagos to be honest
but if we want to decieve ourselves then your estimate is right How many Yorubas live in those rural place? Under age kids and elderly folks. Those places are too isolated and difficult to reach, and the people who were lucky enough to have registered will likely not be able to vote. Anybody counting on those rural votes is a goner. Yorubas can NEVER be 70% in the urban areas. 40% is fair enough. |

Yoruba- 0.5% Igbo- 98% Hausa-1% SS-0.3% Others-0.2%
You see, there are actually more Igbos in Lagos than there are Yorubas. If not for juju and yahoo yahoo, Igbos would havehad more influence in Lagos

alj harem: i have said it, unless jonathan rigs the elction he will not win excanny the igbos in lagos you people are shouting about will vote with the masses in lagos. how is that hard for you people to realise unless they are just coming from the village
jonathan will lose sw, nw and ne that is the reality moreover the 80% of nigeria population is in those regions
all he needs to tip the balance is to rig the election to his favour In the case of the SW, I doubt if GJ will lose. Worst thing will be getting close to 50% of the votes there. Someone gave me a modest percentage of the demographies in Lagos. Yoruba- 40% Igbo- 20% Hausa-15% SS-15% Others-10% Of these you already have 35%(Igbos+SS) who have openly declared their support for Jonathan. Let's say we put into consideration some SE/SS who might decide to vote differently as X. Remember some Yorubas also do not have a soft spot for Tinubu's party/Buhari. Let's put this group as Y. X cancels Y, and the 35-40% sure votes for GJ stands. Believe me, if GJ doesn't cause an upset in the SW, he wont get less than 50% of the votes there. |

You cant compare that to the open contempt MKO had for Ndigbo.
Buhari has completely neglected you guys
Now ACN has chosen a Yoruba VP candidate
In this present Nigeria, you can never become president without the blessing of both the NW and the SW. . . now get that into your dull brain. Keep wallowing in foolery. I will never tell you to stop deceiving yourself. Abiola could say anything he likes, it's the reaction and outcome that happen. That ofcourse left a sour taste in his mouth. What determines ethnicity?
Language?

Origin/History?
