@Freewilly. Adanma. Ihe i dere adighi nma. |
My first preference would be Onitsha dialect. Sounds so sweet to the ears. I wish every Igbo I could speak like that in public. Secondly, I think I'll do with Nnewi. But generally most northern Igbos speak a more pleasant-sounding Igbo. Funny enough I've been trying to change my way of speaking to the Onitsha dialect unsuccessfully for many years. lol. Maybe I need to get my arze down to Onitsha for a couple of months(I hope I find the time for that though) |
oludashmi:I never wrote that it carries a 'k'. This was my comment: excanny: |
T9ksy:I cant believe that someone feed by a woman's bosoms would type this kind of crap. Are Igbos the only nigerians to have been killed in the North? Are Yorubas and others not also being killed in conflicts in the North? Ode. |
I do not think any Igbo youth would consider joining OPC. They could form alliance with them through their own organization to protect Igbo interests, that's understandable. Anyway, this rumour is unfounded and started by a northerner whose tactics has always been to pitch Igbos against Yorubas in order to remain relevant. No surprise! |
oludashmi:You are getting it all wrong, funmi. Is the sound of 'p' the same in English as it is in Yoruba? No. What Abagworo was saying is that pronunciation is always constant while spellings might differ. For example, I could write my name in arabic. The pronunciation remains the same but the spellings, and even the style of writing differs. But really is it so difficult to spell 'Igbo'? When people say they find a thing offensive, what's there in showing a little respect? |
fstranger1:lol. It's obvious your ways are not pure, even though you claim that you were born in Igboland and that your father gave you an Igbo name. Keep deceiving yourself. I think I kind of like the binis when it comes to this. Where's Physics to help me out? What do you guys call Igbos? Oviigbo or something, ? |
grafikdon:I think Abagworo is quite right. Under normal circumstances, spellings are quite irrelevant and do not always determine how a word is to be pronounced. So on that note, I'll agree that 'Igbo', 'Ibo', 'Heebo', 'Ebo', etc are okay if and only if the proper pronunciation is maintained. But I think the 'Igbo' is a better guide to the actual pronunciation of the language, people and place. P.S Unfortunately the 'gb' in Igbo and in the neighbouring Yoruba 'gb' are very different in sound. But it can be a close guide for anyone who wants to learn how to pronounce it in Igbo. |
Yoruba Man dies after doing anything for Money A young man has lost his life after allegedly donating his sperm for ritual in a quest to make money. The man, Ahmed Rufai, who was in his 30s, was taken by his wife, Titi, to her elder brother, Sulaimon Ojulari, for financial assistance to help stabilise his crumbling business. But P.M.News learnt that Ojulari said he could not assist him financially. He however, was alleged to have told Rufai that he could give him a soap which must be mixed with his sperm. Ojulari was said to have told the deceased that this would turn his fortunes around. The arrangement, it is alleged, was for Titi to bring the soap mixed with Rufai ’s sperm back to Ojulari. A few months after Rufai used the soap, he reportedly started suffering from a strange illness which led to his death. But before he died, Rufai, an auto dealer had disclosed that he was given a soap which his brother- in-law said must be mixed with his sperm. He said he gave his sperm in a condom. This prompted the family members to engage in spiritual investigation. Speaking with P.M.News, the father of the deceased, Alhaji Dele Rufai, who was in tears, said: “We had no option than to go spiritual and it was through the medium that we were told Titi, my daughter-in-law, was in the best position to tell us what went wrong with her husband. “She was summoned to the family meeting and there, she confessed collecting my son ’s sperm for her elder to use in preparing a money making soap. ” Alhaji Rufai said Titi wrote a written confession which reads: “ It is true that I collected my husband’s sperm for the betterment of our future. My own semen was part of the package also. ” The family members were able to contact Titi ’s brother through a phone number provided by her. It was learnt that Ojulari honoured the deceased ’s family when he was invited by them to a meeting and confessed that he sent a money-making soap to Rufai, which he instructed should be mixed with his sperm. He however, denied that he collected the sperm from Rufai. But the deceased’s father further said that Ojulari promised to facilitate the cure for Ahmed Rufai ’s illness. But he died early this month. Both Titi and Ojulari are facing trial at a Magistrate ’s Court in Ipokia, Ogun State, and the ruling on the matter is being www.news.onlinenigeria.com/templates/?a=6021 |
This foolish Yoruba boy claiming to be a non-Nigerian. Silly Yoruba. |
I'll urge my Igbo brothers to ignore this thread. I see no reason why this thread should have been dragged to 5 pages. Ofcourse, the poster is here to bash Igbos, and tell them how he forks a prostitu-te in Ebonyi. Silence is the best reply to a FO-OL |
It seems the Igbos appear to be the easier group to bash in Nigeria, and the gang-up party usually have a good time doing this. Why dont you guys also worry about the many problems in your regions? |
jason123:What I said were in response to Ileke-Idi's comments. Read her comments. I know that namfav professes being northerner. |
Ileke-IdI:Pele. Dont mind me. I was refering to the Yorubas in his village. |
silami:Go and ask the goats in your village. |
frosbel:I do not believe you are Igbo. Anybody can claim anything here. But, one thing I'm sure of is that, I'm sorry use the word, you are very FO-OLISH. How can you call me a greedy person when you do not know me? You lump over 40 million people who you have no clue of in one negative description. You are just too senseless for me to even reply you. |
frosbel:Another Igbo-impersonating fo-ol. |
@OP I feel sorry for whatever Igbo girl that is getting about to get married to you(that is if you are not lying). It's hell living with a clueless human, not to talk of a clueless goat. |
asha 80:Exactly my thoughts. It's really sickening to always see such topics littered all over the place and regretably started by professed Igbos. |
eku_bear:^^^ Over 100 Yorubas were murdered last year in Jos. How many of them did you advice to form alliance with Beroms? You are slowly becoming hypocritical. |
JomoGbomo2:Dude, cool down. Did you read the opening post on this thread? Or you are just saying the prejudice you already have in your mind? |
alj harem:Stop this NONSENSE. You are NOT Igbo. Dont let me start insulting you. |
Obiagu1:I wonder why some people like putting words into other people's mouths and self-destructive in their thinking. No one said an Igbo should be governor. I only suggesting a deputy governor owing to the fact that such a choice might swing about of a lot of Igbo votes in any such ticket. |
