PoliticsRe: Arewa Gives Deadline To Nass To Impeach Jonathan by excanny: 9:23pm On Oct 25, 2010
I think the ACC has a point. Jonathan is being unduely clannish with MEND.

He needs to curtail his partisan attitudes and portray himself as a national figure.

It seems he forgot that he's no longer the governor of Bayelsa state anymore.

Ileke-Idi read all of the stuff that were written down and then tell me if his case is unwarranted. No zone has faced federal neglect as the SE. When you see alot of those good picture of establishments or good areas in the SE most of that comes from the sweat and hard work of private investors and indegenes from overseas. Its a shame that other zones get federal hand-outs but we have to work for our own and without hand-outs.Imagine we have how we have the lowest poverty rate and our states look pretty decent compare to others and this is without federal hand-outs. Imagine what it would be like if we got our rightful federal attention as the other zones are given. Imagine how long this niger bridge was suppose to be rebuilt its ridiculous. Its on the verge of collapse. The minister that is incharge of handling the roads, bridges and things like that is from the north and has always been, that is the problem. If you go to Katsina today, you would believe who a state that produces nothing and be so equip to the T. Any time the north needed a new bridge or one needed to be fixed it was done right away.Dones that make sensehuh?. Long story short every region has governmental neglect but We Igbos would rather exchange your neglect with ours.

And as far as boasting about starting another war,you done here about Igbos trying to start another war in nigeria, this is just people on the internet.

And that last line you typed is similar to what awolowo said.
Brilliant point.

Ileke-IdI:
If the S'east gets it's money, then they better be ready to distribute the Yoruba communities up North their money because they will not relent.
I think it's time our SW folks start initiating their own demands. Enough of this 'if the East goes, the West will go'.
PoliticsRe: Which States Have Free Education? by excanny: 7:35pm On Oct 25, 2010
I still doubt that of Abia though. I really have no qualms with kids paying between N500-1000 as levies. I also paid it in secondary school, but i dont think i paid anything except my uniforms and books in primary.

My beef is when students are expected to pay between N5000-7000 as levies in a public school. That's CRAZY.huh

Well, even if education becomes completely free, not everyone will still be interested and serious about it. But at least it gives the serious ones a chance to actualize their dreams.
PoliticsRe: Which States Have Free Education? by excanny: 5:15pm On Oct 25, 2010
lol.

Well, i'm not the government. Such kinds of projects can only be carried out more successfully by the politicians. In the absence of corruption, that shouldn't be a big deal.

As an individual, i can only do little. Some of what i have in the pipeline is like having an NGO, a scholarship foundation or some other forms of public awareness.

I'm just a social critic.
Kobojunkie:
uum . . . OK!

By the way, the set up is similar in most all states in the country. While I was a student in the public system in Nigeria, I experienced the very same. However, if you want all form of fees completely abolished(something that does not even happen here in all public schools), may I ask if you are going to help pay for this new scheme of yours?
PoliticsRe: Which States Have Free Education? by excanny: 4:47pm On Oct 25, 2010
Kobojunkie:
No, he didn't. He reiterated that Scdhools in Abia State are FREE. Note that the money being paid is not TUITION.
I dont really care what it's called. Tuition, handwork, house dues, PTA or whatever. It all confirms what i said earlier. It is nothing but a FRAUD in the name of 'free' education.

What i want to see is all forms of payment abolished in public schools and their books and other necessities provided to them.

This will be in line with MDGs, if my guess is right.

N 1 trillion is too small and a drop in the ocean compared to the psychological damage that has been done to the SE since 1970.

How can we quantify the trauma of having our own kith and kin in Delta and Rivers deny their Igbo origins for fear of discrimination?

Good move, though, by Agbakoba. A foot in the right direction.

Public school Education is free in All of Nigeria. Not sure what the intent of this question is, and for @excanny, following your own posts, it is right to state that Education is free in Abia State, unless you are trying to argue that since it is not quality education, it is somehow not worth calling education.
I dont know which Abia you are talking about.

This is my state, i go home sometimes and i see little kids at home because they are asked to pay as much as N7000 per term in public schools. Is that free education?

Slap1 schools in Abia and he just confirmed what i learnt from those kids.
PoliticsRe: Which States Have Free Education? by excanny: 1:54pm On Oct 25, 2010

There is free education in Abia State. Before that school fees were about N1,050 (N50 for bank commission) and you pay nothing else. Now that it's free, you pay for handwork, P.T.A, house dues, etc, for about N5,000. It's still free education, I think.
There's no free education in Abia. It's just a sham.

Suprisingly, it's an oil-producing state. This is why i advocate public execution of corrupt politicians.

they mean they're igbo in delta state and not igbo in the east. Its like telling a kwara man that he's yoruba. Anyway, delta igbo or rivers igbo is still igbo. Abeg let's not start this igbo debate again.
Guy, chillax, those people you are talking about said they are not Igbos. Simple and short.

It's because we're nice girls grin. I'm not gonna lie, often times I find myself lingering toward Yoruba men as well [not intentionally though]. It just happens. Igbo, don't you like me?!?!? Is it only the Yoruba men that like me? Where are my Igbo men hiding? huh
We love you, sweetie. The place you hang out- Romance section is infested with Yoruba boys.

Maybe you need to come more to Politics section that where the Igbo dudes hang out. I did ask you out sometime, though, but you didn't reply.

You are very wrong here my guy.Of what use is the free education if the quality is rubbish huh

Most parents will willingly pay for a better quality of education than a so called free one.

As for putting the cart before the horse in this scenario it is actually the other way round
Wrong.

Only a few parents can afford to pay for school fees. Take a trip down the SE and see many little chaps sitting at home as a result of being sent home by their teachers due to non-payment of tuition fees. If these ones have a chance to go to school without school fees, it will keep them on the right path where they can self-improve.

The free education that Chief Awolowo instituted in the former western Nigeria, how quality did you think it was? The kids went to school on bare feet, sometimes with no classrooms, and sat on the floor while studying. But look at the effect of that low quality free education today.

That was what prompted my earlier comment.

In normal societies, school enrollment like JAMB has to correlate very strongly with accurate census figures. Is that the case in Nigeria?
It doesn't have to relate. The interest may not be there.

i am actually more interested in the quality of the free education than just free education as the schools that are supposedly free are public schools
You need to worry about having the free education first, before worrying about the quality of it.

Don't put the cart before the horse goes the old saying.

Ohakim still ranks as one of the best performing governors of the South East, only that he lacks manners and public relation.
PoliticsRe: Imo Continues To Lead In Jamb Applications by excanny: 11:15am On Oct 24, 2010
Imo is the academic brain box of the south-east, especially kids from the Owerri axis. Too many institutions of learning clustered in that small area.
PoliticsRe: Presidential Poll: Acn, Apga May Field Ribadu by excanny: 5:40pm On Oct 23, 2010
Currently, i don't see any party that can dislodge the PDP. Their biggest mistake started at their initial stages of formation, when they presented themselves as regional/ethnic parties.

Now not even a name change will alter their inevitable fate of failure, except they go back to the drawing board and plan how to structure themselves in all nook and cranny of the Federation.
