ChinenyeN: Thank You. I still am yet to truly grasp why the same Igbo who have secession and sovereignty in mind, want to come and put 'one of their own' in office. I've said before, and I'll keep saying it. Presidency ought not be a priority.
OUK running for throne office? Haha. This world. . . Making the presidency a priority is not only to gain political advantages, but with it comes the economic advantages. I can sit down and start telling you how many Igbo businesses that had been affected adversely by political regimes who dont look out for their welfare. I am really concerned about this presidency of a thing for economic reasons. Igbos cannot just be spectators in the political field, watching while others make political policies that benefit the walks of life that their people are involved in. The OBJ administration imposed certain embargoes that truncated some Igbo businesses to the extent that they could no longer find their bearing. When Yaradua came into power, he lifted some of these bans in a way that favoured businesses of the northerners. Who is watching out for the Igbos? This is the reason why you need to get one of your own, or someone who is on your side, to be at where the decisions are being made. |

ChinenyeN: Here's the problem (as I see it) with some of what you all keep saying. You either make things "this or that"; "one or the other"; or you completely gloss over [blanket] the entire situation, bringing local identities to a sub-par level (you may not think that's the case, but honestly, that's how it all comes out as). The Ika who choose to identify with other Igbo as "Igbo" have not ignored Ika. So you can't keep making comments like the bolded. The Ika who choose to identify as "Igbo" aren't simply "Igbo".
So, if anything, you could have said something along these lines: "let those who also choose to identify as 'Igbo' be".
I'm sure Ika people have no problem with that. In fact, I don't believe anyone would be bothered by that. But your over-glossing/blanketing tendencies; relegating identities to the back burner, or even, off the stove entirely, perpetuates this issue. Have you ever asked yourself why this group choose to be Igbos? |

The bible was authored by men and men alone just like any other book out there I want to believe that you do not have a comprehension problem. Did i say that the Bible fell from the skies? I said it was penned down by 40 different men. The further proofs i gave showed they must have done so under divine inspiration. There are SO FAILED prophecies in the bible, many things that the God of the bible decreed will happen when the stories were written never happened That a prophesy has not happened does not imply that it's not true and will not happen. This is false because even the writers of the bible had very different idea of whom the God they were writing about is. . . . .The is little or no similarity between the violent and blood thirsty God of the OT and the subtle God of the New testament. . . . . .The morality and values of the God of the bible kept changing and the values and morals of the people kept evolving My friend, always read and comprehend before commenting. I said the theme of the Bible is the same from Genesis to Revelation. |

There are so many proofs that shows that the Bible was authored by God, but i would only state four of them that i can remember now(texting on mobile and cant do much researching).
Proof 1, the fulfilment of Bible prophesies. No human, however clever he is, can predict what will happen in the next one hour, talk less of the what will happen in next 30 days. The Bible predicted the fall of the Babylonian dynasty some 800 years ahead of time, even detailing precisely how the plans will be carried out and the name of the arrowhead of the medo-persian army that would launch the assualt as Cyrus the Great. This is in complete harmony with secular history. Proof 2, the Bible was penned down by some 40 different men who lived over a period of 1600 years, yet the internal harmony of all parts of the Bible is striking. If you read through the Bible, you cant but notice its central theme which is the establishment of the Creator's rulership over his creations.
Proof 3, the candour of the men who penned down its wordings is not ordinary. Under normal circumstances, when writers write their books they often left out their errors and shortcomings, and promote their good side. The writers of the Bible admitted their own faults in their write-ups.
Lastly, the scientific accuracy of the Bible is further proof of its authorship by God. At a time when no one knew about microbes and the causes of diseases, the Bible contained instructions given to the ancient Israelites on how to prevent epidemics while the surrounding nations were using things like human waste as medication. Only one person can have this kind of knowledge and that person is none other than the Omniscient himself. |

mikeansy: I know all that, but I also know that it is easier for Jonathan to secretly influence who his successor will be than to deliver victory for himself. This is all we want Jonathan to realise, he has been lucky enough to be where he is now but somethings in life are just beyond luck. He still has a chance to determine a better end to his fairy tale.
I am not looking forward to any of IBB, Buhari, Gusau, Atiku, Saraki being President. But these guys will have a better chance of getting into office if Jonathan continues this blind journey. For the sake of Jonathan and the sake of Nigeria he should start putting in place a plan B that can be executed in a very legitimate way. I dont agree with you on this one. The question i sometimes ask myself when i reason like this is, who among these politicians(i'm not talking of the pretenders like Utomi, Okotie, and the likes) that are making their declarations known now can become that successor? I think in the end, we might cause more harm than what we have now. |

“And I always explain to people that look this car bombs first of all happened in Benin, Edo State, somebody even died and another in Bayelsa State, nobody made an investigation but they said it was Niger Delta crisis. It was buried under MEND, under Niger Delta crisis. Again, another one in Port Harcourt, luckily no body died in the Port Harcourt incident but it was buried ”. “Not too long ago, Vanguard Newspaper was organizing a programme in Warri, another one happened when governors and senior citizens of this country were meeting, nobody ordered an investigation and it was also buried, nobody was arrested. Then now in Abuja on the October 1, they said MEND again, I said no, we cannot continue to burry this under Niger Delta crisis or MEND. That is the sin I have committed”. Jonathan didn't have to say this, especially the bolded part. He shot himself in the foot with a defeatist statement like this. My advice to him is that he gets rid of the bunch of people who are currently advicing him. I'm begining to get a feeling now that there seems to some kind of conspiracy to ensure his downfall. |

While i hate to associate with the sycophancy hanging around Jonathan, I still feel that if he surrounds himself with those who know their onions, he may in the long run prove his mantle.
To say the truth, Jonathan may not be the kind of leader that Nigeria needs at this point, but in the absence of what is desirable, what is available becomes the desirable. We are still awaiting a more credible head to pop up. Buhari to me is only out to make a name for himself. I dont see him delivering the goods, he could have been another hopeful. |

kettykings: all the great conspiracy against ibos from ethnic riots that resulted in the civil war to 20 pounds conspracy for thier millions , to abandoned property conspiracy, to even the state creation grand conspiracy, yet the conspirators are still worse off.
today ibos own not just 73 % of abuja but a sizeable portion of lagos and other great cities. an ibos was deputy second gen of UN, MD world bank, VP UN, MPs british parliament of all africans. The same way an ibo was dragged to become the Army chief that's how nigerians will drag an ibo to come and rule the country 1 day. Well said, my brother. I dont really trust the Hausas and the Yorubas. I think we need to straight our relationship with the minority groups. If we cant get them to our side, together with our votes, even if the Yorubas and Hausas are greedy enough to want to deny us, we'll still get it right with the cooperation of the minority groups under credible elections. And this is where i feel the strength of an Igbo presidency lies or another option, then, would be a better planned secession. |

Onlytruth: Now I believe that there may be a conspiracy against Ndigbo by some southern interests.
Like I have always said, Ndigbo should NEVER care about what anyone thinks or counts against them in Nigeria. We should have a laser focus on what we want in Nigeria, be it presidency or outright secession.
The southern groups have betrayed us far more than we can EVER betray them, so they can go to hell for all I care.
If Ndigbo should ever support Jonathan next year, let it NEVER be because some S.south people would count it against us if we don't. These folks have no grounds whatsoever to count anything against us. All they have ever done in Nigeria since even before 1960, has been to scheme us into subjugation in Nigerian politics.
Let Ndigbo decide on who is in their best interest -IBB, ATIKU, RIBABU or JONATHAN (IF HE PLAYS BALL).
For me, I'm beginning to have a REAL second thought on Jonathan.
I better deal with a devil with whom I fought a brutal war, and who understands that I can fight, than a delusional minority who think they can hold me to ransom. I wouldn't see it like that. Yes, they have betrayed us in the past because they didn't know who their real enemies were. We dont have to repay them in kind. We need to extend our forgiveness to them. If the minority groups need our support now or anytime, it's also in our interest if we help them. We'll also need them in the future. I dont want to underestimate their votes. |

DeLaRue: Abagworo,
you call it conspiracy, I call it a silent, but grievious mistrust - in d end, we are prob referring to the same thing.
I've only recently become a close observer of events in Nigeria, but I get the strong feeling dat some non-Ibos (possibly a sizable number), are quietly nervous of an Ibo presidency, which is crazy, as I believe it is ultimately inevitable.
However, I get d feeling dat if d Ibos make enough noise of their own now & not line up behing GEJ, people will actually find it difficult to deny them some support for the presidency. But, for some reason, d political leaders in d East dont seem to get it dat if the Ibos miss d opportunity in 2011, it will be a long time yet before they have a sniff of d Aso Rock's 'throne.' I dont quite agree with you on this one. If for anything, I think Igbos have made a more assertive move for the presidency than in the recent past. We only need to build confidence, and present our best material and vote collectively for him with the support of other we successfully lobby to our side. |

First a consensus candidate must be pushed forward. I'm thinking in the persons of Sen. Ken Nnamani or Sen. Ike Nwachukwu.
I think the 2015 date was agreed upon by the Igbo Elders in order to give support to our brother from another mother, GJ who is currently occupying the seat. Personally, i still see him as an Igbo son.
Finally, we simply lobby with other Nigerians to get what we want in 2015, or sometime soon. We all need each other. |

One of the things to be discussed at that meeting was how to get a consensus candidate to go against GJ come 2015, so the success of that meeting could as well be inimical to his own ambitions. So what occurred on the fateful day is really not what GJ wants to bother himself, except, ofcourse, he's put under pressure from all quarters to look into it. I doubt if GJ is interested in seeing to that incident because in the end he might be indicted. |

When the government fails to live up to its responsibility which includes taking care of its citizenry, Aba is usually what it ultimately culminates into. Its a reflection of the fact that the machinery of government is faulty that you have a somali-like state of anarchy as it is in Aba at present. My fear is that there's may still be more of Aba unless something radical is done to pre-empt such. |
