Image123: In this age of cheap internet, free access to google and other search engines, with online news media. It is unfortunate that many are attempting to twist and turn VERY RECENT History in everyone's face. i will like to use this thread to remind us with verifiable links what obtained in the GEJ administration as regards our oil refineries. In a nutshell(for those who don't want to read long post), the past administration/government lacked progressive direction as regards the refineries. The below facts are things everyone knows even though some choose to forget. As at November 23, 2012, the news was "Refineries’ turnaround maintenance to start first quarter 2013"
Below are some excerpts from the news report, all are free to read the full report from the link given.
The next month of that same year, December 15, 2012. The story developed k-leg. The headline was "FG drops planned refinery projects •Jonathan must tackle fuel subsidy corruption–Labour"
Here are some excerpts from the report.
The above quotes would have been funny if they were not utterly pathetic. It was all mouth, no action.
Ten days later, Christmas day, it was still discordant tunes as regards refining crude oil in Nigeria. December 25, 2012, News headlines read "NNPC plans to repair three refineries with N152bn" Some excerpts from the report are in the quote below.
Don't hiss just yet, the drama continues one year later.
It'leaves much to be desired when less than a year before, billions of naira were said to be approved and paid for maintenance, and we were expected to have billions of litres of products in 2013. But by November 2013, they were finally completed on selling the refinery without any so called 18.64 billion litres of products derived from local refining.
Enter last year, January 3, 2014. The news had it that "Jonathan hasn’t approved sale of refineries, says Abati" Don't get dizzy by the ding-dong, fasten your seat belts and read some excerpts from the report in the quote below.
So, did anything concrete or progressive happen all through last year as regards our four refineries? NO. You can be sure, it would have being in the TRANSFORMATION campaigns. By the ending of the year, last year, our refineries were still hopeless despite all the billions of naira spent on TAM and all the failed promises. November 24, 2014, News was "Oil slump: Nigeria’s crude refining to drop further" Our REFINING dropped further, the GEJ government did not sell them or produce anything tangible for the benefit of the country. Some excerpts from the news report are in the quote below.
Quite a grim report, the unpatriotic acts and deliberate sabotage in the past government was unchecked. Did elections, campaigns and a new year improve anything during the GEJ administration? NO
This year 2015. March 3, 2015. This was ELECTIONS month, if the GEJ administration had any hope as regards our 4 refineries, any sort of joker, or light at the end of the tunnel, this was the time they would have presented it. GEJ would have gone to commission it, but even the very tunnel was taken away as soon as there was ever hope of light at the end of the tunnel. The news reads "Lack of support by labour stalls refineries’ sale" To sell or to repair, to sell or to repair, to sell or to repair, March 3, mini mini mani mo. Well, some of the excerpts from the report are in the quote below.
The past FG wanted so badly to sell the refineries but for pressure from the labour people, and to avoid POLITICAL instability. Elections were coming and they didn't want any Occupy NNPC or whatever similar thing that might have disturbed them politically. It is therefore unfair and even criminal for anyone to commend the past administration for the current and sudden progress, development and production being experienced at the Nation's four refineries. Finally, to the more recent and popular news about 2016 and the refineries. Any serious person as at that date knows this was yet another unserious promise. March 5, 2015, news headlines said "Refineries will produce 400,000bpd in 2016 – NNPC"
Excerpts from the reports below.
Here we are, its the beginning of August and the reports are that our refineries have started to work. Thanks to former President Jonathan? Really? Reality clearly shows he didn't even have an idea or clue.
Op, are you saying that this administration has brought the refineries on stream? If yes, then there something you know which we don't. Tell us.
PassingShot: 4. Serious Undergoing Efforts to Recover Our Stolen Money: FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION Before now, the mantra was "stealing is not corruption". Now it is "Stealing Is Now Corruption" and all treasury looters have started feeling the heat.
Apart from efforts being made locally in this regard, it was the other major reason the president was invited to USA. Despite what the wailers will have us believe, PMB himself has recently said that he has received from USA, some documents that will assist Nigeria in tracking and recovering our stolen money from the looters. Read it here please http://www.punchng.com/news/us-gave-buhari-names-of-oil-thieves-source/ .
Is it not then an absurdity to read many wailers shouting blue murder whenever we read that EFCC or DSS invites some treasury thieves for questioning? It is absurd because every sane person knows that PMB/VPYO campaigned on the three main cardinal points of ending insurgency, fighting corruption and improving the economy. So, if he fails to go after those who have stolen their future and that of their unborn generations, will the president be deemed successful in his campaign promise?
5. Refineries now Working: I know many including some PMB supporters will be quick to point me to the president statement that he didn't do anything to make the refineries work. That is another sterling quality of the president but wait, I have some pertinent questions for you.
There is no report anywhere that any of the requested sums was paid by the FG to NNPC, yet the refineries have started working!
The fact remains that, had GEJ won the election, the refineries would not have worked, even in 2016. We traveled that deceitful routes with jonathan many times before.
The fact that PMB is known to be on a mission on corruption; with NNPC the number one priority, is what has made NNPC to quickly put its acts together and bring the refineries on board.
6. Improved Electricity: Only the bigots will deny the fact that electricity has improved compared to GEJ's era. The miracle we're witnessing here is similar to what is happening with refineries. The Transmission Company of Nigeria has continued to achieve one peak or the other since the coming of PMB. Is it another coincidence? No, it is not.
Through FG's efforts, there have been improvement in gas supply to the generating stations. These generating stations have been there since GEJ's era, how come they couldn't get gas supply despite government granting suppliers various loans? The answer is that the suppliers and some PHCN big wigs connive to elope with the loans while keeping Nigerians in darkness. But with a new Sheriff in town, they dare not try the same nonsense. End of story. https://www.nairaland.com/2487750/again-tcn-records-new-power#36402389
7. Nigeria Image Boosted: I don't think I need to say much here as comments from notable citizens and international figures are a testament to this fact. Even, PDP has been somehow forced to eat the humble pie when they declared that "Buhari is the only clean man in APC". To many of us, this is a huge difference between the two parties. After all, PMB/VPYO are the representatives of the change we fought for.
To attempt to put things into perspective, take a good look at the Nigeria PMB inherited from the Otuoke man.
God Bless Nairaland God Bless Patriotic Nigerians God Bless PMB/VPYO God Bless Nigeria
History will never be rewritten no matter the level of intelligence one may think one operates upon.
Increase in External Reserves: It's pertinent here to reveal to you the reason behind this recent increases in the external reserves as reported by CBN because you didn't highlight it. CBN has embarked on indirect devaluation of Naira, by its refusal to sell foreign exchange just to shore up external reserves without considering the pressure those in need of FX will mount on the available limited foreign exchange. This off course, has led to a free fall in the value of Naira which you now interpret to mean success to this administration without recourse to the ripple effects on Nigerians who expect immediate change in their standards of living.
Power Improvement: This Government has done nothing to improve the power supply. A fact that Buhari himself has never denied.
Refinery: A drastic measure taken by GEJ to arrest age long problem of the refusal of the builders of the refineries to put them on stream led to the pulling together of local resources which eventually fixed them. Today, it's being celebrated by this Government as part of its success in the last two months.
Corruption: We've continued to here conflicting figures without a single prosecution. Just to inform you, the report on Buhari's management of the ptdf is in the possession of OBJ, a discovery which led to retracting of his earlier threat of probe and limiting it to his predecessor and thereby reducing the entire process to a witch-hunt.
When you lie to gain acceptance, you will need to lie to remain accepted.
Demdem: If he is APC member, and so what? Do u expect Buhari to appoint a pdp member instead? His predecessor Dasuki was a pdp member by the time he was appointed. Heaven did not fall. Dasuki predecessor who claimed boko haram is pdp and pdp is boko haram was also a pdp member so what's the OPs point again please?
Your level of ignorance over happenings in Nigeria has no measure. Go, do research!
DaMaster: Some of you TANdroids have never lived or been to the north. You have no idea of how many Lawal Daura may exist. Do u even know that Lawal is a common name and that Daura is a community name shared by as many as who wishes to. Go to Tambuwal town in Sokoto State and you will see many more Aminu Tambuwal.
That's not argument. If you don't have anything to say, just keep quiet.
How is the refusal of USA to sell weapon to Nigeria under GEJ an achievement?
Did Buhari or any one claim it was PMB's achievement? Besides, are we talking of the same locomotive railway that was repainted and brought to us at exorbitant price? The railway as attached here? The same trains that derail because of rail lines that are already obsolete?
The anti-corruption technology that didn't recognize that stealing is corruption? The technology that couldn't deter massive looting and short-changing the govt such that thousands of barrels of crudes were lifted but proceeds ended in private accounts of some ministers? The technology that couldn't prevent taking $2bn from ECA without approval of joint-owners?
All in all, I see this as unnecessary cheap blackmail that will not fly.
Sane Nigerians are already grateful to God for giving us Buhari as we have witnessed tremendous improvements in service delivery of all government agencies. This is largely brought about by the body language of the incorruptible General.
The ardent critics (including PDP) of the amiable president even attest to the fact that PMB stands head and shoulder above all in terms of integrity and sincerity. It's not uncommon to now read PDP saying "APC is no different from PDP if not for Buhari". To us, that is huge difference.
GEJ is nothing but a failure.
I see nothing but desperation to call white black. The truth can't be hidden too for long.
obailala: For those of you wondering what OBJ did in 8 years, you are not to be blamed. Most Nigerian Africans only see the present and are incapable of looking into the future or seeing the bigger picture. To most Africans, a good president is the one that builds/renovates roads for immediate consumption.
Obj saved several billions of dollars in his 8 years of leadership so that his successor will have funds to bring about massive infrastructural development. Go and check the amount he met in Nigerian coffers in 1999 when he assumed office and also check the amount he left behind when he left. Good leadership requires forward thinking, vision and proper planning. It is not about indiscriminately awarding contracts or what you achieve now, but rather, it is about what your efforts achieve much later for your constituents.
After many years of military rule, OBJ successfully lifted Nigeria out of a deep economic and political pit and placed Nigeria on the world economic map. OBJ cleared Nigeria's external debts and boosted our foreign reserves like never before. The reason behind that was to strengthen Nigeria's credit worthiness and restore Nigeria's political relevance in the international scheme of things. OBJ's 'wasted' 8 years was wasted in building a mega-momentum for the nation to launch us into massive infrastructural development. Unfortunately for OBJ and for Nigeria, OBJ never knew his successors were going to be visionless, irresponsible wasters.
The train tracks you talk about, it was under OBJ's regime that the masterplan of the modernised Nigerian railway system was prepared. OBJ successfully constructed the Ajaokuta - Warri standard gauge line (which is of great economic importance to the steel cities) and he was about commencing the Abuja to Kaduna standard gauge rail when he handed over to Yaradua. However GEJ came in and renovated the 1903 narrow gauge tracks from Lagos to Kano instead of following the masterplan which was meant to replace the old tracks with modern standard gauges. Now we can only have snail speed trains and people are celebrating GEJ and insulting OBJ. A little investigation would even reveal that the money squandered in resuscitating the 1903 lines would have at least built half of the modern lines thereby giving us standard world class high speed trains.
I sincerely disagree with you, not because you're a staunch supporter of OBJ or from Southwest where majority of the people think of themselves alone, but because you know the truth and choose to hide it. As for you, OBJ is popular today, with the west and some African nations who are bent on ensuring that Nigeria is destroyed at all costs. In his eight years as President of Nigeria, OBJ succeeded in ceding our ancestral land to Cameroon and rendered us homeless, claiming implementation of ICJ ruling which has never been obeyed elsewhere in the world, all in a bid to impress his masters. Many are dead others are in agonies, but OBJ is in his ancestral land talking from the sides of his mouth like a parrot which has eaten too much pepper. Take it or leave it, either OBJ or his children will pay for it.
onatisi: honestly I won't blame usa for not selling arms to nigeria . Infact I think it is the wisest decision from the us. We know how boko haram has invaded army barracks and arm depot in the past and carted away all the weapons there . Don't forget that after the chibok issue they sent their military experts to nigeria and it only took the 2months to realise that they ppl they are working along with are highly compromised .america has all the intelligence info about boko haram finacial and political sponsors and the truth ,the ppl asking usa for weapons are themselves the sponsors of boko haram . So if highly sophisticated weapons is sold to nigeria ,it is more or less like arming al shabab ,al qaeda and other terrorist groups in africa because before u realize it those weapons will be carted away by boko haram with the connivance of nigeria top military men. the decision not to arm nigeria isn't a unilateral one by the usa but a collective decision by major learders and stake holders in africa peace initiatives. You can't trust nigeria with high grade weapons.
You have just written a hate theory from the reasons US stated in a bid to substantiate their refusal to sell arms to Nigeria. Obama and his government are regarded as agent of gay today and in turn affected their reputation. If Mr dolapo had accepted gay rights, US would have supplied Nigeria with more than enough arms and shipped before dolapo and his renegades came back.

seeteazain: Top Nigerian stand-up comedian BasketMouth has blasted former president Goodluck Jonathan and his administration for allegedly looting the public treasury. During his show BM Uncensored in Houston, Texas, BasketMouth didn't hold back as he aired his thoughts about the high level of corruption in the last administration.
"And the funny thing is Buhari is now in power and everyone is hating on the guy under two months. I said some sh&t that made the news. Me, I don't care. I am not normally into politics but when I see some sh*t I say it. Goodluck was there for six years, all they did was steal money. Yeah I will say it..." said Basketmouth.
SAVEDBABA: with all d english Jona speak we still have bad roads, epileptic power supply, poor education systems anf muchore..........abegi all u haters shld jst swerve
aaronson: same culture has made you backward and under developed in the league of the world nations...what do they call your country again? THIRD WORLD COUNTRY so think!
The preaching of this evil must be limited to your family whose value system is to adopt white man's culture and jettison yours, so that you will have no story to tell about your existence.
In case you don't know, quest for development of Nations never started on the same day and so can't be compared.
Marriott1980: What makes something a human right? Polygamy is a tradition not a human right. Human right is a right that belongs justify ably to every person. I'm happy you mentioned human right because being gay is human right in his own stead.
Who classified polygamy into tradition and gay into human rights? And what right does he have to do the classification? Respond now
HungerBAD: The first time i saw two men kissing was in London, specifically at the St James's Park on a cool summer day many years ago. I still remember the shock and revulsion i felt.
I stood transfixed, staring at them for about 5 Minutes and was just turning my head around like AM I THE ONLY ONE SEEING this, and then it hit me, i was no longer in Africa and even if i had been living in the US, i was yet to see two men kiss. It was a cultural shock for me to see two men make out.
I hated gays.
Then one day in Church, at a bible study. Somebody asked the pastor that if the Church preaches a lot of things about repentance and acceptance, why then do they still find it hard to accept gays?the pastor's reply was an eye opener.
And then it hit me. Why do i exactly hate gays?they don't bother me, they sleep with each other, they marry each other, they pay their own bills,i don't even know them.
As i grow older, i have learned to be very tolerant of others. I have also learned to mind my business with how others handle their lives, that is why i do not judge married women/men when they cheat in their marriages, i am not in their marriage so don't know what lead to the infidelity.
While i do have my personal reservation about the gay thing, i have come to accept the fact that my feelings will not stop people from being gays, or stop them from loving each other. i have also come to accept the fact that no matter what, there will be others that will have sexual orientation that is different from mine.
In Nigeria, there have been instances where men have been caught making love to goats and chickens. Nairaland even carried some of those pictures.
So what am i saying?people should let other people live their lives the way they deem it fit. what you cannot correct, leave alone.
Yes, you need to understand that man is by nature a gregarious animal who doesn't survive in isolation and highly influenced by what goes around in the environment where he finds himself.
In the same way a blind eye was turned on boko haran at the formation stage on the account of freedom of association and religion, and today solution to its brutal activities is not in view.
Therefore, our culture must be maintained at all costs irrespective of the views of those who believe that 'if it's from the white then is good'.
free2ryhme: The former finance minister and coordinator of the near-bankrupt economy,Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala,at the end of her sojourn in former president Ebele Jonathan's government, lost professional honour,experise-respect and gained worse-credibility to her name and image worldwide.Dr Okonjo Iweala displayed her hidden professional-shortcoming with her mishahandling of Nigeria economy, the ex-cess crude account and external reserve account and did not fair well in her overall handling of Nigerian economy and funds. She lost her professional reputation with her worst outing as Nigeria finance minister suprintended massive corruption practices and supervised looting, stealing and embezzlement of magnititude volume.Dr Okonjo Iweala is the worst minister of finance ever.
