Within the Fulani ethnic group, there are different sub groups. Their elites are usually well educated and intelligent. Most visible Northern elites are Fulani. Then there are the masses, which include the Bororo Fulani. They rear the cows for the elites and usually live in forests. They are the violent ones. The Fulani elites run things in Nigeria and have been running things in Nigeria since Nigeria's independence.
The Fulanis are definitely not meek as you thought. They are very intelligent and crafty and ruthless. That's why they control Nigeria.
You need to read up on the history of the Fulanis. Google is your friend.
When you interact with the Fulanis, you have to be very alert. Just read up on how they conquered the Hausas.
