Following the Senate suspension of the Internet Data price hike mandated by the NCC, Nigeria's telecom regulator has withdrawn a directive to mobile phone operators to increase prices of internet data.

In a statement, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said the decision had been taken following complaints from consumers across the country and consultations with mobile phone firms.

Editor's Note: This is a win win for all consumers and heavy internet users. No more price hike on December 1st again.

PoliticsNigerians React To Senate Halting Of Data Price Hike By NCC - See Reactions by exlinkleads(op): 3:04pm On Nov 30, 2016
Yesterday was the worst day in the life of almost all Nigeria internet users as it was done to everybody that the rumored of Data price hike was actually true. MTN as always have already sent out messages to its subscribers informing them of the imminent price hike.

Thank God for the National Assemble today, they have however halted the hike in Data prices and Nigerians have also expressed great appreciation in their comments below though some people thinks it should have been better to scrap it entirely than to halt it

Politics3 Dead In Multiple Car Accident Along Umuahia Expressway - Graphic Photos by exlinkleads(op): 2:28pm On Nov 29, 2016
3 persons were confirmed dead following a multiple auto crash which occurred along the Ubakala, Umuahia South axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt express way on Monday, November 28th. Two people were certified dead while six others were being treated in Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, but one of them passed on.

Four vehicles including a Toyota Hilux van with registration number CG 539RSH, a Peugeot J5 bus marked XA 874 AKW, a Mercedes Benz tipper with No EGG 555 YG and a commercial bus were involved in the accident. Spokesperson of the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Madubuko Darlington, who confirmed the incident said said the victims were brought to the hospital around 9 am.

“Two people were certified dead while six others are being treated by our doctors, but one of them passed on too.”

One of the accident victims identified as Abdulhamid Abubakar blamed the incident on the driver of the the Hilux van who he claimed was over speeding.

“We were four in number in the J5 bus travelling from Lafia,, Nasarawa State to Aba in Abia State, to sell bags of oranges and garden eggs; myself and three of my friends, Husaini Tanko, Imamu Abubakar and Ibrahim Abubakar and I were on the journey.

The accident happened when the vehicle in front of our own applied sudden brake to dodge an oncoming Hilux van that was about to overtake a tipper in front of us. The bus in front of our vehicle lost control and ran into the bush, while we rammed into it and our bus somersaulted and later caught fire. Unfortunately, one of our friends died, while two of us were injured. It is one of us with me here that did not sustain any injury.”

CrimeNigerian Arrested In The U.S. For Scamming Elderly Woman Of Almost $9,000 by exlinkleads(op): 1:57pm On Nov 29, 2016
A 47-year-old Nigerian man has been arrested for scamming an elderly woman out of nearly $9,000 in Vermillion Parish, Louisiana, US, according to a news release from the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office. Attorney General Landry said:

“Our office is on the front lines investigating, arresting, and educating to help stop the awful occurrence of seniors being targeted and preyed upon by scammers”. “We want to help Louisiana’s people avoid falling victim to mortgage, contractor, charity and other types of frauds commonly perpetrated on senior citizens.”

Chigozie Valentine Agu was arrested on charges of Felony Theft in excess of $5,000, Bank Fraud, Money Laundering, and Racketeering.

The Metro Washington Airport Authority at Dulles Airport arrested Agu following an investigation by General Landry’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) as he re-entered the United States. He was extradited to Louisiana and booked into the Vermillion Parish Correctional Center.

“It is an absolutely despicable crime to take advantage of our elderly family, friends, and neighbors,” continued General Landry. “No matter the great lengths these shameless criminals take, my office will do all we can to get justice for their victims.” In May 2016, Agu contacted an elderly Vermillion Parish resident, telling her he was a Department of Homeland Security official and found a piece of luggage containing money he would return to her for a fee.

The LBI found proof that Agu received the money and that he attempted to conceal his crime through bank wire transfers and a third party. Overall, Agu scammed the elderly woman out of $8,890.

A uniform price will force telcos to improve services. The only way they can make money now is to sell alot of data, now when everyone sells for the same price I can't price my 1gb for N500 and the service is so poor you no fit burn 500 mb.

If everyone sell @ 1gb for N500, we will all move to the person that can guarantee value for money. All telcos will begin to invest heavily into ensuring data quality, those who already have ala GLO simply need to turn the taps wide open so to speak.

I just hope my model is correct.

The alternative model would be that due to loss in revenue, the telcos are trying force consumers to pad the loses , instead of pushing for efficiency from the telcos
Your second and last point is the issue. They are looking to kill the common man so as to continue with their lavish style of living. Have you ever heard the saying "when the rich wants to get richer, they will come to the poor"? well that is what is playing out.

It can't be your first point, no no no. government can't have in mind to relief the stress or struggle of the poor, no no no, is practically impossible. They can't do that. And even if the government wants to do a common favour to the poor people of this nation, they don't do it for free. They can't do it for free. Something most be their for them to loot.

Checkout the favour they are doing to the IDP's and tell me if they have not looted X10 of that favour. Diverting their food and even cutting common grass for N23m. That is the nature of this government we have in Nigeria from the time immemorial. Is not about APC oooo, no no no, is the nature of our government in this country, be it APC, PDP or whatever government that is in power but APC own don too much.

Anyway i rest my case

I am a CCR at one the telecoms in Nigeria and i got the mail to the effect a couple of days ago at work. So lets wait and see the uniform price NCC would give
Why would the foolish NCC think uniform price is the way to go in this country?

PoliticsA Self Deceiving Country Called Nigeria - True Facts by exlinkleads(op): 9:45pm On Nov 28, 2016
Someone may say my rues are pathetic. But the question is, is Nigeria really in recession? Tell me the answer to this question after reading this piece. Do you know that 21 senators are currently receiving pensions from government as ex-governors and deputy governors.

The current senators who once served as governors are Bukola Saraki of Kwara, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Kabiru Gaya of Kano, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Theodore Orji of Abia, Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa, Sam Egwu of Ebonyi, Shaaba Lafiagi of Kwara, Joshua Dariye of Plateau Jonah Jang of Plateau, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto, Ahmed Sani Yarima of Zamfara, Danjuma Goje of Gombe, Bukar Abba Ibrahim of Yobe, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi, George Akume of Benue and Isiaka Adeleke of Osun.

The former deputy governors in the Senate are Ms Biodun Olujimi of Ekiti and Enyinaya Harcourt Abaribe of Abia. Danladi Abubakar Sani served as the acting governor of Taraba state. Many former governors are also in Buhari's Cabinet as Ministers. This includes: Ngige, Fayemi, Amaechi and Fashola (SAN).

In Akwa Ibom State, the law provides that ex governors and deputy governors receive pension equivalent to the salaries of the incumbent. The package also includes a new official car and a utility vehicle every four years; one personal aide; a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding N5 million per month and N2.5 million for his deputy governor.

In Rivers, the law provides 100 percent of annual basic salaries for the ex-governor and deputy, one residential house for the former governor “anywhere of his choice in Nigeria”; one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for the ex-governor every four years and two cars for the deputy every four years.

It is alleged that in Lagos, a former governor will get two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja, estimated at N500 million in Lagos and N700 million in Abuja. He also receives six new cars to be replaced every three years; a furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary to be paid every two years, and a N30 million pension annually for life.

This is the reality for all the 21 ex governors and deputy governors who are currently serving as senators. This same is also true of ex governors who are now serving as Ministers.

NOW I ASK:

How many years did these guys serve their states as governors and deputy governors? Is it more than 8years? Is that a reason to be entitled to pensions for life? Even if they are entitled to pension for life, must it be so outrageous? Who made these laws in Nigeria? Are they not constitutions which are subject for reviews?

As if that is not enough: How on earth can any public servant with conscience collect salaries and allowances as a senator or minister, and still have the audacity to claim pensions equivalent to the salaries of a serving governor in Nigeria?

IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE......

Once you are elected a senator or appointed a minister, you must forfeit any pension accruing to you from government at any level until you vacate office. This should also apply to senators collecting military pensions like former Senate President David Mark.

Yet these senators are in the Senate that is inviting the current finance minister to discuss the recession of Nigeria's economy. A senator pockets approximately 30 million naira monthly as salary and allowances. Our "honourables" are not interested to make laws that could restructure our country into economically autonomous federating States/Regions to save the country from sectional agitations that is threatening to destroy Nigeria. The sad and hopeless situation is that the rest of Nigerians are busy arguing based on party, ethnic and affiliations while these enemies of state continue to rape us.

Do you know that it costs tax payers 290m Naira yearly to maintain each member of our National Assembly in a country where nothing works & 80% of population earn below 300 Naira a day ? A working day earning of a senator is more than a yearly income of a doctor; it's more than the salary of 42 Army generals or 48 professors or 70 commissioners of police or more than twice the pay of the US President or 9 times the salary of US congressmen.

Youths are you still alive? It's high time the country had a referendum on those outrageous salaries of Senators, House of Representative members and other political office holders. And their is no way it can happen unless.........................

*If you are seriously against the looting of our commonwealth in Nigeria, in the name of democracy, you can let this piece go viral by sharing it with as many as possible.

PoliticsOby Ezekwesili Blasts Buhari & Jonathan For Leading Nigeria Into Recession by exlinkleads(op): 8:53pm On Nov 26, 2016
Former Minister of Solid Minerals, Mrs. Obi Ezekwesili, has accused the administrations of former President Goodluck Jonathan and that of the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari, of leading Nigeria’s economy into recession.
According to her, the duo failed to adopt the right policies to deal with the crash in crude oil prices, which began in mid-2014, hence the ongoing economic crisis.

Ezekwesili noted that while Jonathan’s administration failed to do something about the impending recession before leaving office, the current administration equally failed to launch a comprehensive fiscal stabilisation programme on assumption of office in May 2015.
She spoke as the guest speaker at the inaugural Business Lecture of the Lagos Country Club in Lagos on Thursday night.

She said, “The parlous state of the Nigerian economy by the 29th of May, 2015 should have instructed an incisive and urgent macroeconomic stabilisation programme to realign the price levels in the economy. By May 2015, we knew we were already in trouble. As a matter of fact, we were already in trouble in 2014. That was the first time that growth collapsed to 3.8 per cent. The incoming administration should not have been told that we were weak and vulnerable.
“Had the government made quick and necessary adjustment that corresponded close enough to the level of impact of the 40 per cent decline in oil revenue, our story could have been different today. We would never have lost growth.”

Ezekwesili, a former Vice-President of the World Bank, further stated, “There is a new level that our post-2014 oil shock economy needed to find for stability. We needed a policy response that could have enabled that adjustment to happen immediately. That response could have helped the economy to absorb the shock. It could have reassured the investors. It could have reassured the consumers. It could have helped us to reasonably retain investor confidence in the economy, but that did not

She stated, “The attendant fiscal pressure and the delayed right policy responses were severe enough that by 2015, economic growth had sharply declined from 3.8 to 2.7 per cent. And then began the sharper loss of growth into negative growth rate by 2016. It was a major mistake that the economy did not get timely and right type of policies that could have helped us avoid the calamitous collapse into negative growth in the last three quarters of 2016.

“The economic preferences did in fact worsened matters and set off a wave of uncertainties that dented investors’ confidence in the economy. So, it is accurate to conclude that both the preceding and successor governments conspired by their actions and inactions to throw the Nigerian economy into the deep throes of economic recession of which it must be rescued in order to avoid social implosion.”

CrimeCrime: RRS Arrests A Man For Blackmailing Females With Nude Photos by exlinkleads(op): 6:16pm On Nov 13, 2016
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Michael Atanda, who has been threatening to expose nude pictures of four ladies on the social media if they fail to pay money into his account.

Atanda, a computer science National Diploma holder of a popular computer school based in Ikeja, was arrested on Thursday by the Decoy Team of the RRS after about five days of baiting and monitoring. Atanda, an ex-convict and a father of three, had collected N121,000 from his four victims with the threat, but wanted the ladies to pay more or face the consequences of leaking their nude pictures on social media.

Disguising as Segun Bayo on Facebook and a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Atanda said he went about adding several ladies on Facebook. And, that after two weeks, he would start chatting with them. “The profile picture on my Facebook account is that of a guy based in London, and so as part of my introductions to ladies, I tell them that, I am a Construction Engineer as well as that my parents and I am living Europe…. After sometime, I would lure them into sexual conversations during which, I persuaded them to send their nude pictures to me. They would send and I would send mine to them too,” the suspect said.

“Before that I would pretend that I am seeking a serious relationship with them, and that very soon, I would be coming to Abuja on a business trip, during which I would see them…. I would again feign my seriousness by calling them with the aid of computer software that transforms my Nigerian line into an international line. Meanwhile, I would warn them that I was calling through a public phone booth,” he stated.

He noted, “As soon as they have sent their nude pictures, I would come up with all manners of stories. I would begin to extort and blackmail them. Through this means, I have collected over N121,000 from my latest victims.” He further confessed that “I was jailed last year in a similarly circumstance after fraudulently collecting N700,000 from a lady I met through a dating site. I was eventually bailed but the case is still pending in court…. I have collected only 10,000 from Funmilola, Motunrayo N6,000, Joy, N5,000 and Lizzy N100,000.”

Out of the 210 friends on his Facebook, over 195 are young ladies. Apart from Lizzy, who reported the incident but declined to press charges, three other suspects, who were discovered during investigations, acknowledged on phone calls that they have been paying the suspect so that he doesn’t leak their nude photographs online. Even though investigators have reached out to more victims after checking the suspect’s Facebook conversations with a number of ladies. All of them have refused to come forward, after confirming they were paying the suspect through his bank statement.

CelebritiesAnambra Broadcasting Service Replies Miss Anambra 2015 - You Are A Greedy Liar by exlinkleads(op): 2:31pm On Nov 13, 2016
Miss Anambra State lesbian sexy video issue still gathering momentum and it seems to be going on and on and on. Anambra State Broadcasting Service (ABS) director, Mr Uche Nworah has reacted to Miss Anambra 2015’s allegations that she was pressured into making the leaked lesbian sex video by organizers of the pageant.

Miss Anambra 2015 winner, Chidinma Okeke had, in an interview with Nation alleged that the organizers were behind the blackmail video.

Read full interview below:

There is an Igbo saying that the more you repeat a lie, at some point people may begin to believe that it is the truth. On this former Miss Anambra sex scandal, the management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service had previously released a press statement disassociating the organisation from it. We still stand on that statement.

We have also made statements on the matter to the law enforcement authorities. We understand that Miss Chidinma Okeke has also made statements to the law enforcement authorities so we eagerly await their findings.

It is however important that I correct certain statements that are being made on this forum and in other fora especially concerning the interview Miss Chidinma Okeke granted the Nation newspaper today. There appears to be an agenda to push falsehood to the public and in so doing malign me and the Anambra Broadcasting Service over a matter that we know nothing about. It appears that our silence over the matter, except the press statement we issued earlier is now being exploited by those who are bent on using the Miss Anambra sex scandal to settle political scores in Anambra state.

It would also appear that Miss Chidinma Okeke has become a pawn in a larger politically motivated conspiracy.

The ABS as a socially responsible organisation fulfilled to the letter every part of the contract signed with Miss Chidinma Okeke, former Miss Anambra. This includes paying ALL her prize money of the sum of one million Naira only. This was paid in instalments in line with the contract. An initial sum of N500,000 was paid to her after she signed her contract and the balance of N500,000 was paid in N50,000 instalments over a 10 month period.

She collected her last instalment of N50,000 on the 11th of October 2016, the day she handed over the crown to the organisers. We have records of her signing for all the payments. We had to take the measure of inviting the former Miss Anambra to the office on this date as that was the day an anonymous individual had forwarded the videos to myself and some other persons I do not know accusing the former queen of being a lesbian. The person said he was in possession of such similar videos numbering over 10 allegedly showing the former queen in lesbian acts, as well as her friends in the lesbian video performing sexual acts with men. Details of these WhatsApp messages have been made available to the law enforcement authorities. We took this decision as we did not want the brand to be smeared with such a scandal as contained in Clause 1 of the contract.

After the handover of the crown by Miss Chidinma Okeke to the Miss Anambra project executives in the presence of the ABS management in the office of the ABS MD/CEO, I dismissed all the other members of the management with the exception of the ABS lawyer and one of the Miss Anambra project executives. I went on to show Miss Chidinma Okeke the videos I had received that day from the anonymous individual and the messages from the person, I then asked her if she had any knowledge of the video and she said yes. I advised her to go home and confide in her family. I have not seen nor spoken to her since that day as I do not know her whereabouts.
