Lurker4Long: I'm very interested in this part. Just so we're discussing the same thing, what in your understanding is the concept of operations in Mozambique? To provide stability in the region, support in collaboration with humanitarian agencies and humanitarian relief to the population affected by terrorists organization especially the IDPs. |

jl115: Bru your doctrine is based of past experiences and objectives.....wtf are you talking about our doctrine not making us a super power? What ret@rded argument is that? If you want to have a proper discussion then come with a proper response.
Do you even know what doctrine is?
And FYI copying doctrine that works is what all militaries do, that's why there are multinational exercises and workshops to learn from allies.
FYI our doctrine with regards to guerrilla and Coin warfare is legendary and has been copied by basically the entire world...the SAS(and other SFs) has based its doctrine from the South African commandos.... Even the word commando is South African of origin.
Look at the US deployment in Afganistan.... You can even clearly see South African doctrine applied by US troops.... Doctrine which we developed 60 years ago... So if I understand you correctly, what you mean is that the same COIN doctrine that the US used in Afghanistan and they lost and you claim it's is a South African made doctrine is what the SADC is using in Mozambique right? No offense though. |

davefurn: What it drives at the end is thesame doctrine thingy e.g adopt western heavier tank model as the frontline, using of apcs and apv, changing their airforce model of fighting.... All this are impossible, unless you're trying to change them to be someone that they are not. You that are claiming the doctrine working or not, has your doctrine made you super-power and stand toe to toe with the creators of your doctrine before. You are just basically copying someone else own because you have no choice due to you being majorly a consumer and not a producer. Why didn't the so-called doctrine save Europe from being conquered in almost 2 year, lasting days, weeks or even months but the one looked down on and shamed then due to their low quality weapons turned the tides of the war with American land lease weapons. Doctrine is just another BS Comrade calm down na, small small. You no suppose loud am |

Lurker4Long: TRT, K9 Unit, Ladysmith SAPS successfully defuse hostage situation
An armed gang of seven men will soon appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on several charges, including armed robbery, after they met their match when the Tactical Response Team (TRT), the K9 Unit and Ladysmith SAPS successfully defused an intense hostage situation at a local supermarket in the Ladysmith CBD Plaza on Sunday morning, 17 July.
It is reported that the armed gang had made their way into the supermarket which is owned by Chinese nationals, however, due to the quick thinking of local security and police officers patrolling the area, police quickly responded to the situation and foiled the gang’s plans.
Three men were apprehended by police on the roof of the supermarket while the remaining four held the shop owner, his family members, security guards and shoppers hostage inside the building. Police had moved quickly and soon had control of the situation before surrounding every part of the building. TRT then moved in within minutes of their arrival and quickly arrested the suspects who had desperately tried to hide inside the shop.
After being safely removed from the building, one of the hostages told The Ladysmith Herald that the armed men burst into the shop and started barking orders before pistol-whipping the owner and his family members who work with him at the shop. “I was hit with the back of a gun and forced to lie down. They took my cellphone and wallet. I thought that I was going to die,” said one of the hostages who had to be treated by awaiting ambulance services – ER24 Ladysmith and KZNEMS.
The hostages, one of whom was pregnant, thanked the police. The pregnant woman said that she had never been so scared in her life. Three suspects managed to escape and are being sought by the Ladysmith Police.
more... You guys should be happy and proud of your police officers, ours in Nigeria is nothing to write home about |

Lurker4Long: SA Navy receives Nigerian Army College delegation
A delegation from Nigeria’s Army War College is visiting the South African Navy as part of a study tour to South Africa.
Commander Ruwayda Grootboom reported the delegation was received on 11 August as part of a 44 week residential learning course conducted by the Nigerian Command and Staff College for officers from the Nigerian military and friendly countries. The course is the equivalent to the South African National Defence Force’s Joint Senior Command and Staff Programme.
The visiting group consisted of 46 military officers with Major General Bamidele Alabi, Commandant of the Nigerian Army College, as the head of the delegation.
Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Gladys Mbulaheni, welcomed the group on behalf of the Chief of the South African Navy at the Naval Mess in Pretoria. In her welcoming she cited the long standing relationship of cooperation that exist between the South African National Defence Force and the Nigerian military.
Following the welcoming, the Director of Maritime Warfare, Rear Admiral (Junior Grade) Handsome Thamsanqa Matsane gave a presentation on the SA Navy’s strategic overview. In his presentation he highlighted the SA Navy’s mandate, which is “To provide the Chief of the South African National Defence Force with prepared and supported maritime defence capabilities”. He further emphasized how important it is for South Africa to have a secure and safe maritime domain as South Africa is a maritime nation.

First we capture Capetown, then Durban next, after which Johannesburg will follow. Once we have the capital in our hands, and Mr Ramaphosa in our custody, it will all be over. If the SANDF tries to prove to stubborn, we hustle our way to their nuclear plant and destroy it to cause a catastrophe Luckily for us, the other parts of the world is already distracted with Russia-Ukraine, China-Taiwan and BRICS happens to be an organization for economical reasons only. Stormtrooper11: Exactly. If you noticed my presence here, I always commend, post pictures and proffer solutions. I just criticize one day and everyone showed their true colours. No offense but this is kinda annoying. I'm on American forums on telegram and they criticise alot too and debate situations, instead I was attacked and called names.
I'm not surprised why we're in this situation anymore. No vex boss, na frustration from the current situation of the country they make boys frown and para but you actually made a valid point, the country can't get any better if we keep on complaining but the real issue is illiteracy and lack of orientation of the un-priviledged masses who make up a large part of the population to know how to play their part in the development of this country. Even some educated ones know what to do but they won't do it based on I don't care, this is Nigeria, Anything can happen at anytime for example littering of roads with refuse. It's really bad that sometimes, I wonder why the military has not taken over since 2020 |

kabe1: I don't think the security situation is better today, than it was under President GEJ.
What we have seen today is by far, a better investment in the Nigerian military, than GEJ and his cohorts would have dreamed up.
There's a higher willingness by this current government to invest in security than the GEJ administration. The problem is, all that investment hasn't paid off.
While insecurity under Jonathan and Yar'adua was the entire North East, the problem is now spread across the country.
Also there's a higher probability to hold security agents to accountability now than under GEJ, Yar'adua or OBJ.
Peter Obi is not the answer to Nigeria's security problems. He might have a better handle of the economy but there's no evidence that security will improve under him.
Even the economy, how will he do it, what magic will he perform when Labour party will not control the Senate and House of Reps in a Peter Obi presidency.
No state in Nigeria would lose elections to Labour party in Governorship and State house of reps elections.
Are we expecting him to decamp to the PDP when he wins?
How is he going to govern? There is a higher tendency of him reducing criminality in the country by providing employment and once he's able to achieve that, then insecurity will reduce to it's minimum. Most criminals commit atrocities due to poverty and lack of employment. About the economy, with him being an economist we expect that he will ban imports all foreign products that can be locally made. As in I can't believe we still import cars when we have Innoson motors, we import phones when we have Imose, Rice is been smuggled into the country despite the fact that it can be locally grown and the one that left me stunned, military boots are imported while we have the Japan of Africa, Aba and so on. The Nigerian Biafra war gave Nigeria the hint to start manufacturing it's own locally product, the Igbos really made wonders with their locally made weapons but yet attention was not given to them So like I said Peter Obi who happens to be an economist will know what to do by the time he gets to Aso Rock by God's grace. |

Stormtrooper11: I've been on this thread since 2013. I'm the last person that will be brainwashed.
I think you have the Stockholm syndrome, because I don't understand how comfortable you feel with the unsecured roads in Nigeria. Every time a Nigerian is about to do a single meaningful thing, he put all his hopes and trust in God because the possibility of him reaching his final destination is below 50%. Buhari's advance party was attacked the other day, the last time a president convoy was attacked in our history was 1976. The Armed forces might had dismantled the terrorists from the North East but it has led to rampant security issues across the country. We're unsafe than ever before. I think @AskiaHarem is right to some extent about the improved security issue. I mean the last time we heard of a bomb blast whether by suicide bombers or car bomb was during the GEJ administration. The terrorists have been reduced from a Boko Haram of almost 60,000 members to a group of nothing more than 200 bandits, but the bad news is that they are scattered all over the nation. We don't even know if it's the Fulani people of Nigeria that wants to continue from where Uthman Dan Fodio stopped or Foreigners from Niger and Chad that were meant to be political thugs for the APC but have decided to prey on us all, the entire system is just politically sabotaged. Pls I know I don't need to tell anyone to "VOTE PETER OBI" but I'm just reminding you to spread the word. I rest my case. |

The program includes delivery of up to 75 aircraft and has a cost ceiling of $3 billion. Testing will begin later this year, followed by production in 2023.
