Your argument is faulty. There are indices that guide Developmental ambitions.

1. Population: when NIgeria became independent in 1960, we were 30m people. 56 years later, we are 206 (NPC) people. That is about 650% increase. Staggery! The UK in the same period was about 20m. Now UK is about 50m (250%).

2. PCGDP: the per Capital GDP is a tool used to measure value of each individual in a country. NIgeria has PCGDP of $2,200. The UK has over $60,000. Our population is growing at about 3.5%. For NIgeria to have PCGDP of ($22,000), still 3x lesser than the UK's, our population needs to be 20m. That is, consistent birth control for many decades. OR we grow our economy to around $5 trillion ((about 11x it's currently value) while holding population at fairly constant rate.

3. Fallacy: time is not equivalent to development. China has been existing for thousands of years, yet they were miserable. She became independent in the 1940s (about 10 years ahead of NIgeria). In about 70 years, she has done what it took countries like UK and US 200+ years to do. UAE, Hong Kong are another examples. Liberia is over 100 year old, yet still among the most miserable countries in the world.


I don't want to continue. But just know this, if NIgeria continues like this (double digits inflation, 3.5% birth rate, 2 5% agricultural production rate, mono economy etc), by 2100, we would be first or second most populous country in world with the most miserable number of people. Of course, we have the highest number of poor people in the world currently.


Remember.
$5trn economy at 206m===$24,000 per Capital GDP (which is still averagely low among developed countries.
